Mac OS10.68 needs to upgrade to 10.75 for turbo tax 2014. How?

How do I upgrade my Mac OS 10.68 to 10.75 so I can use turbotax 2014. This is their requirement.

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.

    10.6.8
I tried to download 10.8.5 but it would not launch.  Perhaps I need to re-do it.
When I cropped photos in iPhoto, they would go blank upon enlarging again.  That's what prompted the whole thing, my issue.  Genious Bar simply recommended I upgrade to resolve issue.
Now ... my iPhoto will not open at all.  Do you suppose I will be able to recover my photos? iPhoto states I need "a newer version of iPhoto" ...

I have this question, too.  I was advised by someone at Mac App store to purchase OS Lion 10.7 for $ 19.99 which I did.  Only to find out after the purchase and download that I only had 1 GB and needed at least 2  to use Lion.  Now Apple refuses to credit my account for the $19.99 charge sending me some sort of coupon, but cannot be used to purchase the  ram needed for my IMac. nor when I do increase the ram, I would not be able to re-purchase Lion.
I was wondering about Maverick or Yosemite on the older IMac. They are free. Don't understand why the older versions are not free, also.  I have Yosemite on my MacBook Pro and like it very much.

    Hi,
This sounds like it is about Window positions.
iChat has Default places for Incoming Invites.
Video is always top Center of your Screen
Audio and Text chats are Upper right with the Audio slightly lower than Text Chats.
Secondary invites are sort of Stacked like when you open multiple files from the same App.
Your outgoing Windows are "Remembered" as to where the last one was when you used it.
This can be an issue if you use your Mac with a second display and turn Off Mirroring.
You windows can get "left" on the other screen.
Go to System Preferences > Displays and turn On Mirroring and the windows should come back to one Screen/display.
If this does not help go to your Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete (Drag to Trash) com.apple.ichat.plist and restart iChat.
Unfortunately you will need to reset any iChat Preferences you have changed from defaults.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what are you seeing the exclamation point?  When you double click on a thumbnail?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

If you are referring to the original system reinstall discs that shipped with every Mac before Lion came out you'll need to contact Apple with the serial # of your Mac and order a replacement set of them.
Or look on one of the Auction websites or places like iFixit.com for a replacement set.
If your Mac came new with any of the Download Only versions of OS X, Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks you don't need any discs to reinstall OS X. You use the Online Internet Recovery system or the built in Recovery HD partition inb the internal hard drive.
For the built in Recovery HD hold down the Command + r keys at startup. For the Online system hold down the Command + Option/Alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen.

  • How do i install Facetime on Mac, do i need to upgrade to Snow leopard?

    Hey all
my boy's got an itouch with FaceTime on it so i want to connect my Mac Mini to it. I cannot get facetime without owning the AppStore application. I cannot install the AppStore App on the mac Mini unless i install Snow Leopard is this right?
currently i am on Mac OS X ver 10.5.8.
processor 1.83 GHZ intel core 2duo
    memory 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
my question is that do i have to pay £26 for the upgrade in order to get the App Store application?
    cheers

That is correct; FaceTime for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.6.6. So you will need to purchase the Snow Leopard upgrade if you want FaceTime.
    Regards.

  • Pages: It says it's already download in the app store but my Mac says I need to upgrade it. Any ideas?

Really need some help here. Could it have something to do with the Cloud?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • HT4623 I have ios 5.1.1 (9b206) and i need to upgrade it to ios 5.1.1 (9b208), how?

Dear all, I just want to upgrade my firmware from ios 5.1.1 (9b206) to ios 5.1.1 (9b208).
I have downloaded ios 5.1.1 (9b208) offline already (*.ipsw).
    Regards

Downgrading of iOS is not supported, and would probably not do any good in your case anyway, since the photos and videos were almost certainly removed, not just being hidden. Just sync them back from your computer or iCloud (whichever you used to back up your content).
    Regards.

  • Need to upgrade from SL to Lion? Here's how!

After dealing with Apple (on phone, online and in store) for the last 24hrs, the best thing is to call SALES, not AppleCare, direct at 1-800-676-2775. With the automated system, say "sales", then "representative". Do NOT let them send you to AppleCare. I have no idea how many people I talked at AppleCare, but they did not get the memo. As of midnight last night you CAN order Lion through sales, they will take your credit card info ($32 bucks or so) and even though they take your "shipping address" you should get an e-mail with a code and instructions in "1-3 days". Again, you need to get ahold of sales, not tech support or AppleCare.

Most important is to read the system requirements and backup your data, and check for compatibility issues. Lion and Mountain Lion do not support Rosetta, which means no PowerPC support.

  • Mac 10.5.8 should be install which version for itunes? and how to get it?

i am using mac os x 10.5.8, can not open itunes in my mac(it says"it was install by a higher version"), so that i need to re-install a lower version. But there was only itunes 10.7 on apple.com for free download, how can i get the lower version for itunes that i could install to fit my os? thx!

    Dear John Galt,
(That is an awesome character from Atlas Shrugged)
I am using an iBook G-4, and the software operating system is OS X 10.5.8
I have installed the iTunes 10.6.3, but it refuses to open and gives a notification that
" iTunes requires QuickTime 7.5.5 or later. For more information on upgrading your computer, visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime "
On visiting that page for QuickTime, I could not find any information to get this version for upgrading my existing QuickTime player, which is a QuickTime version 7.3.0
Please guide me how to overcome this situation.
Just to give you a brief idea as to why this situation has started:
My kids used this machine, and naturally used it in a way they should not have - specialy not on a bed.
The inner socket for charging my iBook had broken, and so could not recharge the battery again. Therefore my machine was shut for over 8 months as the cost to repair it was prohibitive. Later I attempted to repair it on my own, and succeeded, However, even the internal battery backup was dead due to such a long time of inactivity without a re-chargem and this led to my hard disk to malfunction.
So, I had to re-install the Leopard disk, and tried to salvage as much of the old documents, photographs, and music as I could. I lost every single photograph on the hard disk, but managed to save documents and some music.
I'm still using the same hard disk, and it has been working without a problem since I re-installed the leopard. But, I lost a few programmes - iTunes, Keynote and maybe a few others.
I downloaded the iTunes 10.6.3, but as I have explained above, I've been unable to start it yet.
My apologies for such a long message, but I felt I wouldn't do justice without giving you an explanation as to why this happened.
I would really appreciate your input, to resolve this situation.
    Thank you very much.

  • I have Acrobat 9 Pro and read I can upgrade to XI pro for $199.00. How do I do that?

How do I purchase and download Adobe Acrobat XI update. I have 9 now.

Sorry about the problems. It has been an issue that several MVP folks have addressed to Adobe and the solution we had seems to even have been removed. Yet we keep being told that both the full version and upgrades are available. All I can suggest it to contact Adobe directly since they keep saying both are available and even the upgrades are listed under Buying guide | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, but no link is provided any place that I can find for the upgrade. I have submitted comments and can only hope the order issue will be fixed.
