Question

Im still using the old osx ...Can i buy the osx 10.4 tiger without buying the previous OS software? like jaguar?

If you haven't already, be sure to boot into Mac OS 9 on the hard drive, and apply the correct firmware update before updating to 10.2, 10.3, or 10.4.
A tray loading iMac G3 can only have up to Mac OS X 10.3.9 installed, and needs firmware version 1.2.
A slot loading iMac G3 without Firewire can only have up to Mac OS X 10.3.9 installed, and needs firmware version 4.1.9.
A slot loading iMac G3 with Firewire can have Mac OS X 10.4 installed though still needs the firmware 4.1.9. The CD-RW slot loading iMacs need the Media Exchange Program from your country's Apple website (tell us which this is if necessary), and the versions with a DVD drive don't need the Media Exchange Program.

Be sure to backup your data prior to updating. Dismount if a media device, and disconnect all third party peripherals before upgrading, and use only retail version of 10.4 to install your operating system.
