Mac OSX 10.4 compatable with FCE?
I have recently bought Mac OSX tiger and wanted to know if it's working ok with FCE ver 2.03?
I recently updated my OS to Tiger (carefully followed all directions)- since all my other apps and my computer have been working beautifully ever since, I don't believe there's a problem with the way in which I installed 10.4.
FCE has indeed been very stable while running on 10.3.9, and it worked fine when I ran it using Panther (which I booted off my external hard disk).
I don't believe that FCE repeatedly crashing on Tiger is a widespread issue (I'm very relieved to hear that you aren't having problems with it), but for those of us who are having crashing issues I gather the problem is fixable. The task now is to find the fix. By the way, we're talking legal, purchased copies of FCE here, not the cracked or bootlegged rubbish.
I'll see what I can find. If I can't resolve the issue then I can at least run it off my 10.3 backup.

Can I synch an ipod nano 6th generation with Mac OSX 10.4.11 with Itunes 8.02?
No. You need at least Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later as well as iTunes version 10.1 or later. Sorry.

I have my Canon GL2 connected to my I-Mac OSX version10.7.3 with a Belkin 800/400 9-pin to 4-pin firewire cable and the computer is not acknowledging the camera.
While holding the option key, click the in the menu bar and select System Information. Select Firewire in the Hardware section and see if your camera shows up as a connected Firewire device. If not, then you have one of three basic problems:
1. Defective Firewire cable
2. Defective Firewire port on computer
3. Defective Firewire port on camcorder
Rule out any of the above by trying a different cable, Firewire device (like a hard drive) or try your camcorder/cable on a different/friend's computer.
If you suspect a Firewire port problem on your computer, you can try resetting it by shutting down and disconnecting the power cable to the computer. Wait for 30 minutes and plug back in and startup. You can also try resetting Parameter RAM (PRAM) on the iMac. (Apple's Instructions for reseting PRAM) -
I have an old MacBook (Mac OSX 10.5.8) with iPhoto '08. Is there any way to back up not only the photos, but the way I have organized them into events and labeled them?
Yes. Back up the Library.
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store -
G4 Mac OSX 10.4 server with RAID & sharepoints - Intel Xserve & RAID?
Hey all,
so we need to migrate our G4 Power Mac running Mac OSX 10.4 server with about 60 user accounts and a RAID with about 50 sharepoints to a brand new Intel Xserve with 10.4 server and a brand new RAID.
My plan for the server part of things is to put the new server online with the old one still running, make the new one a replica of the old one, then take the old one offline and promote the new one to a master.
But what to do about the sharepoints and several terabytes of data? Is there any way to do this except manually copying the data and re-creating all the sharepoints? That wouldn't be the complete end of the world as long as all the accounts/groups come across via the replication, but it'd be nice if there's a smart way to do this.
Thanks for your help!Never tried the replica promote so I can't say that it will work. The way I migrated from 10.4 to new hardware 10.4 server was to set the new server up with exactly the same setup, DNS, IP and so on. This requires the old server be off the network for a bit. Once it was running I would have a backup of the LDAP/OD info made directly from the old server in Server Admin. Import this on the new server and all users and passwords are back in place. Now as for the share points and the data the best thing to do is to attach the old RAID to the new unit first. Hopefully you have a way to have both RAIDs connected at the same time to the new unit since that would be best.
In the interest of downtime you could immediately add the share points back in to WGM pointing to the old RAID drives. This gives you the free time to migrated the data when you want to. Make sure you know the right settings for each protocols which you use for each share point (AFP, SMB, FTP, NFS).
Now that your up and running you can move data by whatever means you see fit to the new RAID keeping in mind you want to keep permissions in-tacked. There are many clone or sync option out there and you don't need to move all the share points at once.
The main reason I chose this method is it offers a fall back and no client reconfiguring. If something is not working on the new server you can simply plug the old RAID back to the old server and your up. Second is that if you try to run both server at the same time you would need to create a whole new identity for the new server (IP, DNS and so on). Migrate data via a Network (very slow) and reconfigure all clients to point at the new server. I've done this at least 10+ times at different locations and even before the easy 10.4 backup of LDAP/OD info. Making sure you had a clean LDAP was never so easy. All swap outs took less then an hour of down time with maybe 2 hour pre-swap setup. Data movement to a new RAID was not always the case but by using this method you can move data later which is the most time consuming process of the whole swap. -
Mac OSX Yosemite crashes alot with random tasks in Photoshop CC2014
\Mac OSX Yosemite crashes all the time with random tasks in Photoshop CC. Now almost nothing works. Sometimes it stops working after doing random tasks like starting photoshop and i have to do a hard reset by putting the power off of my Mac pro retina (2014). After logging in again i got the message from Photoshop that graphics problem occurred sometimes a Problem report appears. I also cannot merge to HDR from lightroom to photoshop & also in Photoshop in the file menu > automate merge to HDR pro. It 8 of 10 times it stops working and I won't select one of the brackets. I have to force quit photoshop. I think these instability problems started after updating to Yosemite but become worser everyday. I also disabled the graphics driver, put it on basic and enabled/disabled open gl, sometimes photoshop disables it automaticly. My osx is up to date so I don't have to update my graphic driver because these updates or done within the OSX update panel.@

MAC OSX Safari get "Q" with "/" through it
Mac OSX (10.4.10) running Safari - Anytime a site uses a
Flash file, I simply get the QuickTime logo with a slash through
it. When I check using the Adobe Flash sites, I get the same thing.
I have run the uninstaller and reinstalled Flash 9. No help. I've
checked the integrity of my HD and it's directories, they are okay.
I've repaired permissions, no help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!>I am trying out with DW CS3, and my host is bluehost.com.

You have defined your site improperly. Define a NEW site
using SITE | New
Site..., from the DW menu toolbar. In the future if you ever
see the option
to use FTP & RDS Server when you define a site, DO NOT
USE IT.
The way you have defined this site means that you are editing
the files
directly on the server. That's not optimal in most cases.

My Mac OSX (version 10.7.5) is coming up with error message when I try to write a disc "The disc can’t be burned because the disc drive is not accessible (error code 0x80020020)." I have tried several discs with the same message - Same also when I tried my external disc writer. Both disc drives will read my discs that have music or photos on it, it just won't write any new discs - any clues?
Hi Klaus1
So, I tried all the suggestions and followed the links - all to no avail.
as you can see, (screenshot below) my iMac is a 21.5 inch late 2009 model which isn't showing in the updates listed above
My system report shows that my Mac has the following:
I reset the PRAM and the SMC - still have the same error message when I try to burn discs. I've used both CD's and DVD's and tried with my external Discwriter too.
Any further suggestions?? -
Is Camcorder Canon XA20 compatable with FCE
I have purchased a camcorder Cann XA20 and hoping it is compatable with Final Cut Express HD.
Can some advise please. There are types of footage that are known as Interlaced and Progressive.
If using PAL footage that has a video standard of 25 frames it is actually made up of 50 fields.
A field is one scan of odd lines followed by a scan of even lines, these two fields when combined create the one frame.
This is the type of footage FCE can work with.
Progressive footage is a self contained frame without the two fields.
Simply put, FCE is designed to work with Interlaced footage.
If your camera has shot Progressive footage do not expect it to Import.

Mac OSX desktop dropping connection with multiple copy processes & large files
The servers are 6.5 SP3 running NFAP, the MAC OSX is 10.4.2 updated. The
volume the macs are using is part of a cluster. The users mount the volumes
on their macs and everying is for the most part fine. If they grab a bunch
of files and copy them from desktop to server it's fine as long as it's only
a single copy process. The users are part of the hi-res department and the
files can be 1GB or larger. If they drag one or more large files, and then
while that's copying they drag some more files, so both copy processes are
running at once....quite often the volume will dismount from the desktop and
you will get unable to copy because some resource is unavailable. Sometimes
the finder crashes, sometimes not. Often the files that were partially
copied get locked and the users needs to reboot their Mac in order to delete
them. I'm getting pretty desperate hear, anyone have an idea what's going
on. I don't know if this is a Tiger thing or a large file thing or a
multiple copy stream thing, a netware thing or a mac thing.....we have
hundreds of other users running OSX 10.3 and earlier who are not reporting
this problem, but they also don't copy files that size. Someone please tell
me they have seen this before....thanks very much. Oh, before going to 6.5
and NFAP the servers were 5.1 with Prosoft server and they never had the
problem.
JakeThanks for your help, I have incidents open now with Apple and Novell, I
hope one of them can provide something for us. We tried applying 6.5 SP4 to
a test server....the problem still happened but was "better", the copy
operations still quit but with SP4 applied the volume did not dismount....or
if it did it remounted automatically because it was still connected after
OKing through the copy errors.

Is OSX 10.6 compatable with Aperture 2?
I currently run 10.4 on an older Intel iMac and need to upgrade to 10.6. However, I have software such as Aperture 2 and Microsoft Office that I would rather not have to replace.
See this Support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3604
General compatibility with 10.6 has been introduced by the 2.1.4 update, download it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL913 -
FB 4.7 on MAC OSx 10.8.4 with CF
Hi All,
I have couple days trying to configure this new MAC with FB 4.7 and ColdFusion 10.
Alex was helping me to debug this issue but I still cannot figure this out, sorry no an expert in MAC or apache.
Here is the way I configured the CF in MAC using apache:
http://iknowkungfoo.com/blog/index.cfm/2013/2/27/Installing-ColdFusion-10-on-OSX-108-Mount ain-Lion
So my web server is:
[ localhost:cfusion ] Apache : /private/etc/apache2
The article said that I can use "/Users/myUserName/Sites" as my web root, or not?
I am confuse here, I need to be clear so I can set my web root and root URL in my FB project configuration.
I hope a MAC expert can help.
Thanks in advanced !Fixed.
