Mac OSX 10.4 Installer Disc

Hi,
I have a 15 inch Macbook Pro, bought two years ago. After all that time its become kind of.. clogged, slowing down, more prone to crashing, so I wanted to reinstall OS X.
It came with OS X 10.4 installer discs but they were lost a long while ago. Is there a way to make a replacement install disc, or somewhere I can apply for a one?

Just to add to BDAqau's advice. Not having your system disks is like having a boat anchor instead of a computer. What maintenance have you done lately? While your waiting for replacement disks there are some things you can do that might help your system to run a little better. One thing you could do is,
Restart your mac:
Safe Boot: Hold down the shift key after the chime until the Apple logo appears and the gear is moving.
It will take awhile but you will be asked to login.
Go to your Applications folder> Utilities and launch Disk Utility.
In the left side column, highlight your drive and repair permissions.( button down below)
Empty the trash.
Restart your mac.

Yes you will need to install the apple drivers for win vista. When you boot from a cold start, have you tried holding down the option key to choose which OS to boot from? If you have then, you could try going into startup options from the mac side and choose win vista if it appears. That could be risky though, as you mentioned you do not have the mac install disk. If problems arise you may need the mac install disk to undo the changes.

Mac OS 10.4 installer discs

I need to upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4. I have looked at installer discs for sale on eBay, and find listings like: "Apple Macintosh Mac Mini G4 Installer DVDs - 10.4 Tiger" with "Installation DVDs for first generation Power PC Mac Minis. Will work on the 1.25GHz G4 and 1.42 G4 models." and "2 APPLE MAC PRO OS X 10.4.7 TIGER SOFTWARE INSTALL DISC". Are these installer meant for those specific models? What installers can I use on my G4?

Machine Model: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics)
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.9)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 500 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 768 MB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.2.8f1

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store *but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753)*. For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) (See Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac? ). Expect to pay (possibly a lot) more than the Apple list price of $129.

Possible Alternative if you are currently using Panther 10.3 – Do a Google search for Tiger 10.4 Upgrade DVD . It will upgrade your 10.3 to 10.4, but it doesn’t contain the full retail Tiger installer. Should be cheaper than the retail Tiger install DVD.

When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.

Selling Mac OSX and iLife Restore Discs?

Hi. I would like an expert opinion from an apple representative on this matter because i really need an accurate answer. OK basically my college just got 60 iMacs which are awesome and me and two mates are allowed to have the restore discs for Mac OSX and iLife because they dont need them. This is we reckon we could make about £4000 selling them which would be great but we are not sure if it is legal to do this and we dont want to break the law.
Also im sorry if this has been posted in the wrong area of this forum, i couldn't seem to find an accurate forum title for this issue.

I suggest you read the SLA on OS X, while it may (I'm not saying it is or isn't) be legal to sell them they are pretty worthless as the discs are specific to the hardware that they shipped with. For example lets say your college bought all Mid 2010 21.5 iMac's with i3 processors. Unless you find a buyer with identical (and I MEAN IDENTICAL!!!) specifications the discs won't work on the buyers machine and are therefore of no value. In addition selling them is very short sighted, at some point those machine may need to be restored with the original OS and iLife applications then what do you do?
IMHO it's a nice idea to try and earn some additional revenue for your college (I'm assuming that's the intent) however it's short sighted and overall a bad idea.

How do I install CS5 onto my new Mac OSX that has no disc drive?

I have the serial number and have loaded it onto one other computer, so I should still be able to put the program on my laptop as well. But it is giving me an error 6 for both PS and AI, but InDesign is saying I am missing files.
I have contacted the help center and it was no help, it was clear she did not know what to do because she kept asking me if I had a disc drive on my laptop which I had to keep clarifying that no, I don't.
I put the applications on a external harddrive and tried dragging them over onto my laptop, hoping it would just require I type in the serial number, but that did not work.

Correct. No install, no licensing system, no working apps. You must run the installer properly. Refer to the below articles:
Errors "Exit Code: 6," "Exit Code: 7"
Troubleshoot with install logs
Anything beyond that will require much more info on your part.

Can i transfer the OS from one mac to another without installation discs?

Hi,
I have just bought a new mac (well, a second hand one but new to me!) but it doesnt have an OS pre installed. I currently have the Powerbook listed below installed with OS X 10.5.2 and I was wondering, is it possible to transfer the OS over to my new mac?
Unfortunately I have lost the installation bits, i.e CD, but I just wondered if any techy wizards out there knew of a different way?
It would be really useful and save me alot of money(!) but if the worst comes to the worst I will just buy the OS again!

Ok thanks thats cool...neither are intel based.
however, being fairly inexperienced with macs im not completely au fait with how the directory system works.
Using CCC I can copy files, but how do i copy a whole OS?! I mean where, for a start, will I find all the files associated with the OS that are necessary for it to run?
Secondly, once I have copied all necessary files to the target volume, how do I go about installing the OS? Or will it do it all automatically?
Sorry, I am probably asking really stupid questions but I guess thats what forums like this are for!

Mac OSX 10.5 Install Disc

I lost my leopard install disc for my PowerPC Mac G5 (no intel 2003 model). I need to reset the password and apparently, this is the only way that will work. I tried running the terminal commands and apples support, but had no luck.
Can anyone direct me to:
1) A place on apple's site I could download it?
2) A place I could buy it used without spending more than $30?

I need to reset the password
Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
2. wait for terminal show
3. release keys
4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
5. press enter
6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
7. press enter
8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
9. press enter
This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.

Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
   1. Reboot
   2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
   3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
          * mount -uw /
          * rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
          * shutdown -h now
   4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!

Creative cloud update fails on mac OSx. New installation is not possible, even after deinstalling creative cloud desktop. What can I do?

The last update for creative cloud fails. Deinstalling and new download fails also. The download stop at 45%. What can I do? Using Mac OS X Maverics.

Why can't Mac OSx repair My Passport disc?

I keep getting error message that MacOS x can't repair disc My Passport. I don't know how to back it up either.

You need to provide more information such as the complete error message from Disk Utility. If Disk Utility said you should immediately backup your data, then you need to connect another external drive to the computer then clone the Passport drive to the added external drive. If Disk Utility is unable to accomplish that, then you will lose the data on the drive, and you will need to re-partition and reformat the Passport.

IMovie, Garageband and iPhoto not installed after Mac OSX Snow Leopard installation

I tried to repair the hard drive of my MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro I own is not the latest one. I think this is from the previous generation. The disk cannot be repaired anymore so I just decided to erase the content then reinstalled the OS. I already updated the software but iMovie, iPhoto and Garageband was not in my applications. No, don't do that. As Dave said, if you're running Lion, use the Recovery HD (partition, actually) that should be on your internal HD already. See Using the Recovery HD for details.

Need help in using mac installation disc

hi guys, my out of warranty macbook's hdd has died on me... so i went out to get a replacement 320GB sata drive, everything was working fine, and macbook detected the hdd, i am able to install my mac osx tiger using the recovery disc, but during the last portion of the installation of disc 2, it say there is a error installing this software it always happen at the same spot, when it's trying to install garageband.
is there something wrong with my macbook, or is it because of the installation disc, i'm at a very very lost state without my macbook T_T

Since GarageBand requires 4.3 GB of drive space, check available space on the disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Insufficient available space, can cause performance issues, system corruption, and possible loss of data.
