Mac OSX 10.5.4 won't install

Hey, i've got a macbook pro, and every time my automatic update tries to install the new update for the OS, and I always get this message:
The Update "Mac Os X Update Combined" can't be installed.
The installer could nat validate the contents of the "Mac OSUpdCombo10.5.4" package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
And by the way, everything else installs just fine, but this hasn't been installing for months on end now. What is going on and what do I need to do???

Have you tried deleting your existing download of "Mac OSUpdCombo10.5.4" and downloading and installing a fresh copy from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1054comboupdate.html ?
Cheers

  • Security update Flash version for Mac OSX 10.5.8 won't install

I lost my ability to view Ustream live streaming and recorded videos on Sept. 12, 2013, in both Safari and Firefox. The screen is solid black, and if I right click I get "Movie not loaded..." I read about the Sept.10 Security Update for Flash Player, so I uninstalled version fp_10.3.183.90 and attempted to install version fp_11.7.700.242. The installation failed every time, so I returned to the older one. On Sept. 13 I downloaded Google Chrome and it worked, but today, Sept. 14, I see the message "Flash is out of date," and no video.
I have a Macmini2,1 with 1 Intel Processor and 2 Cores, made in 2007, I think. OS Leopard, 10.5.8 (64-bit). My Safari is version 5.0.6, Firefox 9.0.1 and Chrome 21.0.1180.90.
I spend a lot of time on Ustream, so this is a big setback... please help!

Firefox is on version 23.1 now (I believe it WILL run on Leopard), and Chrome is on 29 (I can't be sure of that because I've uninstalled it from EVERY LAST machine I own and will NEVER use it again).
THAT may have something to do with it. Safari 5 is the newest that will run on 10.5, and unfortunately the LATEST Flash Player WON'T run on Leopard.
The reason is that OS 10.5 was the LAST Universal Binary OS Mac released (it runs on Intel or Power PC Macs) Becaue of that, it uses a different acrhitecture and the Flash Player is different from an "Intel only" build. Websites will continue to update, requiring the latest Player, and that will lead to obsolescence of your Flash Player (and your OS). THAT'S the bad news.
The GOOD news is: Because your Mac is Intel powered, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.8) for $20 through Apple (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard), and THAT will allow you to run a LOAD of software that requires 10.6 or newer.

Yes. Don't worry, Apple won't let you download something that requires a purchase before actually paying.

  • Mac OS 10.6.2 won't install

    Hi everyone,
I am having some problems installing the latest update for leopard. Basically I have just got my 13' macbook pro from repair(top spec model), I wiped the HD before sending it in. Now I have installed leopard and cannot do the update. When going through the software update it came up with an error each time, and when I downloaded the individual installer I get the error:
Mac os x update can't be installed on this disc. This volume does not meet the requirments for this update.
I have managed to do all of ilife updates so am really baffled as to what is wrong. I have tried 2-3 times via software update and same with the other installer, I have restarted and repaired the disc and verified it with no errors.

    Hello M:
Glad things are OK now. Please mark the thread solved so that others will not visit and think you need feedback.
Also, please update your profile to reflect the correct OS X level.

  • Verdana font missing after install on Mac OSX 10.9.4 - won't run

I have just installed a trial of DreamWeaver on my MacBook Pro and I cannot get it to run.  I receive the below every time I start DreamWeaver:
After checking Font Book I can see that I don't have Verdana installed.  Any idea why?  My Mac is fairly new and I can't think of any reason why it would not.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

    Hi,
I had the exact same issue. New MBP, new Adobe CC and I was getting the Verdana error.
I had recently installed Microsoft office and it looks like it moved some of my fonts from inside the library/fonts/ folder into a sub folder called "Microsoft".
Once I moved Verdana back into the main font folder dreamweaver is working fine again.

  • Mac OSX 10.9.4 Can't install flash player - won't download in installer window

Whenever I run the Adobe flash installer, it freezes at 30 percent and says that the connection has been lost. It then states Connection failed. Unable to complete installation after about 2 minutes.

  • HP1102w wireless on MAC OSX 10.6.8 - problems in installing

    Hallo to everybody.
I will try to explain my problem completely. I am desperate.
I have a printer HP1102w and I want to use it wireless with my iMAC running OSX vers. 10.6.8
I have a home wireless network with a Netgear wireless router.
MAC is perfectly running on Internet and I can access my home-network from everywhere also with my Windows Laptop.
Now I want to install my printer to print wireless from my iMAC.
    No way until now.
When I installed the software from the CD the first time, I chose NETWORK installation and I also put my WEP keys for the network. No success.
Then I installed the latest software from HP website and when I click on CONFIG HTML from the settings window , it opens the html code and I can not see it a s a web page. What is wrong ?
Blu LED on the printer is blinking all the time.
Printer is recognized and it prints when I use a USB cable to the MAC.
    Please help me.
    Thanks a lot.
    Riccardo, Florence, Italy.

A couple of specific things I see:
    1. Do not use a software CD (ever, if you can help it).  It is often out of date.  In your case it is likely not compatible with Snow Leopard (10.6).    Let me know if you have any HP software in your Applications folder.
    2. Do not use WEP, it is not secure and can also cause connection problems.  Use WPA with a strong (13+ character) password that YOU create.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Quicktime 10.4 on mac OSX 10.10.2 won't open quicktime 7.6.6 in a website

I have been going to some websites recently trying to see some videos.  Instead of a thumbnail there is a puzzle piece and it says need to download Quicktime 7.6.6 or higher.  I can't view the video.  I am on a Mac desktop using OSX 10.10.2.  The website has at the bottom "Made on a Mac".  Can Quicktime for MAC not recognize Quicktime for Windows?  How can I view these videos?  It's very annoying that I can't open a  Quicktime video when I have a MAC and Quicktime on my computer.

The website has at the bottom "Made on a Mac".  Can Quicktime for MAC not recognize Quicktime for Windows?
Your question makes no sense. Both play multimedia content—there is no need for one to "recognize" the other.
How can I view these videos?
Do as you were instructed. Download and install the older QT 7 player app.
It's very annoying that I can't open a  Quicktime video when I have a MAC and Quicktime on my computer.
The QT X player supports newer, more efficient codecs employing a "closed architecture" while QT 7 supports more codecs using an "open architecture." Basically any user can place encoded data compatible with his or her system's codec configuration in an MOV (QT generic file container. Unless you have the same codec support available, you cannot play such files. I.e., the site you visited may be using legacy or third-party codecs not supported by the Yosemite QT X embedded structures but which are supported by Yosemite's QT 7 embedded structure.

just checking what this means. Im in the process of buying office 365 for it and a mac mini so i wanted both machines to be the same so i dont have andy glitches. (tried pages but im a die hard word user for 20 years)
    any help would be appreciated,
    thanks

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X 10.9 is OS X Mavericks, so you are already using OS X Mavericks. The problem is that your Mac is using a special OS X Mavericks version, so you may be getting a message saying that your computer is not compatible if you are downloading Mavericks from the Mac App Store. Ignore it.
Also, note that OS X 10.9.1 is the most recent version. To update your computer, open  > Software Update.

If you are really running a G3, you cannot install Leopard on it.
    From the Apple Leopard page:
    General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor

    Yes.
That's the simplest solution in most cases.

  • OSX 10.5 simply WON'T install on my G5

I just recieved my copy of OSX 10.5 in the mail today, and have been trying desperately to install it ever since
Everything seems to work fine, except my hard drive doesn't show up, thus there is nowhere to install OSX to
Am running a late model G5 (Dual 2GHz PPC, 1GB RAM etc., it was purchased in June of 2006)
    What's up with that?
Also, I have been unable to eject the DVD unless i use a safety pin to force eject it
Thinking of sending it back and asking for a refund, since I apparently can't install it on my computer...

I have a "backup" (retrospect) on my external hard drive. Is that the same as a "clone"? I downloaded carbon Copy Cloner but get this message, which is greek to me;-)
"Verify that CCC is located on a local disk (e.g. not a network share, not on read-only media, not on a disk image) and that that media supports the setuid bit."
Yes, on a local disk; it's on the iMac I want it to run on; it was downloaded-is that a disk image?; what is setuid bit?

  • Trying to install windows on Mac using bootcamp, but windows won't install?

I've been working tirelessly on installing a burned to disk windows 7 on my MacBook Pro using bootcamp. Everything worked fine, I booted up windows but the problem was that it wouldn't install at all and just told me that the disk may be corrupted or missing? I noticed the disk was scratched so I reburned it to another disk. When I went to restart the Mac to boot up windows and try the installation again, a message came up saying: "NTFS - 3G could not mount /dev/disk0s4 at /volumes/untitled because the following problem occurred: dyld: library not loaded/ usr /local/libfuse.2dylib referenced from: /usr/local/bin/ntfs-3g reason: image not found." Could this be saying something about the disk? Is there an easy way to just install the **** thing?? In really tired with this, thank you do much for any help.

  • Since updating Firefox to 6.0, my Quicktime Pro on Mac OSX 10.6.8 won't allow me to save MP3s, although I can listen to them on the page.

I recently updated Firefox to 6.0 and it quit allowing me to save any mp3s downloaded to the page, although I can still play them in Firefox.
For a very brief time, I was able to save them after the update, and I believe it has something to do with bit rate, as I was asked whether I wanted to increase the bit rate. I clicked yes, but didn't take note of whether it was 32, 64 or something else.
Next time I restarted Firefox, it went back to the original setting and I don't know how to change it. I even purchased another copy of Quicktime to see if that would help, but it didn't.
I'm also having this problem in Safari, so it's probably a Quicktime fix, rather than Firefox, but if there's anything you can tell me, I'd really appreciate it.
Apparently, there are third-party Quicktime softwares that will help, but I don't know what they are or what they do. Can you help, please?

If you upgrade to Lion it comes bundeled with it!
To get it on your Mac Pro just copy the aplication from the aplication folder on your MacBook.  You can do this via a thumb drive or over a local network connection.
