Mac OSX 10.5.8 Freezed - a way to do it

Hi. This is not really a call for help, I only want to share this with you.
Sometimes I use my cell phone to an emergency connection to Internet - when the official way is down. I call for it at preferences panel by bluetooth, and MacMini call my cell phone. A window opens in my Sony Ericsson w300i asking for my permission. If I click OK, thats fine, but if I (by mistake) click NO, appears the multicolor circle, rounding, and rounding... and nothing elese works (yes, not even commandaltesc).
This happens every time I click no. I can't remembar other situation like this, freezing is a rare event in Mac OSX, and I never know when it will be (most of times with Flash, but do not crash all system).
Somebody may try this in other Mac to verify if is my hardware/software or some bug of 10.5...

Mac osx wont boot up

I turned on my laptop this morning but the mac osx load bar goes about half way and turns into a blue blank screen. I can't do anything except restart. I tried 3 times and the same thing happens.

I have a similar problem when I tried to boot up my PowerBook G4. When I Startup or Restart the Powerbook, sometimes I hear the hard drive spinning but I don't hear any chime sound and nothing happens on the screen. I tried many different ways(command-control-power) to start my computer but sometimes no success. Then all of sudden I hear the Chime and it works. after that everything works fine.
I am afraid to Shut down or Restart my computer.
I want to startup my computer with Install CD (or DVD) but whenever I tried that, I have more diificult time booting the PowerBook. I hear Hard Drive spinning and CD spinning but nothing happens after that.
Can anyone knows what is causing this problem and how can I trouble shoot this issue?

cursor freezes on mac osx 10.8.5 have to re-launch finder to regain control, using wireless mouse.
This happens at various times but more noticable after wakeup.
Any ideas?

When you next have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Mouse/program freezes in Mac OSX Mavericks

I recently updated my 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac to Mac OSX Mavericks (8GB RAM).
I'm using an Apple wireless bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
I'm now getting frequent freezes. The cursor can be moved but I am unable to write or click on any window. Only way to resolve this issue is a hard reboot.
Additionally, programs (Safari, Microsoft Office) sometimes freeze/stall with the spinning beach ball.
Overall the system is much more sluggish.
Any suggestions ?
I'm wondering if these problems are related to syncing services, e.g., Adobe Updater (really annoying when it interrupts/blocks workflow daily with another update check) or iCloud and Dropbox (check mark indicates up to date) - although superficially I don't see them active at the time of the freeze.

If your Mac is unresponsive and you think it may be related to software you've installed, try testing by booting into safe mode and creating a test user:

If your system is responsive is responsive safe mode, this usually means OS X is fine, and the issue is caused by conflicting software in your user account.
Next, see if it behaves normally in a new user account. The steps in this article also apply to creating a new user in Mavericks:

Is there an iPhone involved ?
If not, what happens if you remove the Apple ID on the iPad and then set it in Airplane Mode (allow a couple of minutes at this point) followed by re-adding the Apple ID ?
What, if any error messages are appearing on the Mac when you try to launch the App or Login to the iMessages server ?
Is the Apple ID linked to an iCloud account ?
In Messages 7 (Mountain Lion) this did not seem to be important but it seems it is in Mavericks/Messages 8

I installed iousb family log release osx 10.5.6 and installed on my mac osx 10.5.8. I am trying to log and rfid reader on the usb. Sadly on restart the usb is no longer working. Happily Windows is still running OK. Is there a way 2 get my usb back?

Using Mac OSX Install Disc 1, I am not able to get any further than the Partition tab. It allows me to select my hard drive selection, but will not allow me to make any other selections. Does anyone know their way around this obstacle? Thanks!

Hello, The Hatter, I read about the 'trick' of backing up, erasing, and restoring too, but I figured it would take longer than defragmenting the disk.
But the defragmentation process has just finished! so I'm gonna try to run Boot Camp again soon!

And P.S. I didn't clone my system onto the external drive, I just inserted the Mac OS X Install CD, rebooted holding down the "C" key, and installed a fresh Snow Leopard system onto the predetermined partition. I will use that in cases of emergency, when my main/internal system becomes unusable.

Best way to run a LabVIEW VI written for Windows in a MAC OSx environment

I have written a VI in LabVIEW 8.6 under Windows XP and compiled it into a .exe. Now I want to run this executable on a MAC OSx machine. What is the best way to do this without having to purchase a LabVIEW for MAC license or Windows VM software for the MAC?

Yes, that should run. Except.... Does your program use any hardware? Does it use any Windows-specific functions (from the Platform folder)? Does it rely on a particular video driver or soundcard? Does it rely on right click mouse actions? All of these kinds of things may or may not work because they are closely linked between the Windows OS and the underlying computer hardware. While the software itself will problaby execute, the programmay not work as expected if some of these dependencies are handled differently by the Apple hardware.
I have not used VM but running native under Bootcamp works pretty well, again allowing for the issues mentioned above.

Firefox v15 and up cause my computer (MAC OSX 10.8.2) to freeze for about 30 seconds every 15-30 seconds and forces me to turn it off with the power button. It only causes this after I have opened Firefox, my computer runs fine before opening Firefox. I have uninstalled Firefox and cleared my personal settings. I have installed future updates (16 and 17) and have run into the same issue. I cannot pull any information on RAM or CPU usage because when it happens it makes my computer unusable. Unfortunately I need to use FF for work and can't. I have tried the different responses on the forums to reduce the amount of RAM and CPU usage with no change in performance.

Yes. Back up the Library.
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

My MacBook pro late 2011 i7 8GB 750GB MAC OSX Lion (up to date) 1 week old freezes on wake up.
Plugged on power or not, same issues.
No apps running.
When it goes to sleep itself i wake it up it freezes for few seconds
When i put it to sleep mode same issue.
With the lid same issue...
I already try setting up the sleep mode from 3 to 0 with terminal command it didn't work.
Can it be an hardware issue ?
Any ideas ?

Here is the update.
As TheSmokeMonster mentionned (above) they asked me to reinstall MAC OSX Lion by shutting down the computer and holding cmd + R while switching it off. Then you choose the language and you are good to go for a looooonngg 4GB download (it took me 8hours yeah chinese ADSL :-/ )
Lion reinstalled itself automatically and restarted. - it did not solve the issue.
I called Apple Care again and we try to run the hardware diagnostic by restarting the computer and holding D. FYI do not try it as this command does not work on the new version of macbook pro.
Here is the intersting part! As the Apple Care already did everything they could to help me. We booked an appointment the my local Apple Store in Shanghai (a real one )
The Genius remake again the SMC and PRAM reset - same issues and he also tried to boot Lion from his own external hard drive - Same issues. So we started to think that it was a Hardware problem.
We tried another MBP 13'' late 2011 (last hardware update) in the shop to see if it works properly and it DOESN'T!
Yeah you heard me. I have been trying more than 10 MBP 13'' (2.4Ghz 4GB and 2.8Ghz 4GB) put them asleep and they all freeze on wake up!! it also does it on Mac book air 13'' it seems to be a global issue on all the new 13'' machines. A compatibility problem between Lion and the new hardware architecture of the 13'' ? just my guess.
Anyway FYI this issue doesn't occur on MBP 15 and 17"
I was just amazed by this global problem so was the genuis. We could not find any solutions cause even a replacement one will have the same problem. They told me i could change for a 15" but i had to go back to the Apple shop where i bought it which is 2000Kms away not really convenient So i file the cas and i took my MBP 13'' back with me.
They will contact me later for further explanation.
