Mac osx 10.9.4 HP office jet 6500 scanner issues

My HP 6500 scans but at preview it say no document loaded even though I can see the document.
I tried deleting the printer/scan and reinstalling it and downloading the HP driver and it still does the same thing.
HELP!
Thanks
Cher

Hi @cher-1
Does the printer say no document loaded or does the software? Does this happen when you copy too?

Hi @neeter888   welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are trying to set your HP printer up to print from your Chromebook.
Using Google Cloud Print with your HP Printer
Getting Started with Google Cloud Print
If you do not have a Windows or Mac computer, you can tell your printer to connect to your router from the front panel as follows:
    Connect to the wireless network
Press the Setup button on the printer control panel.
Press the Right Arrow button to select Network Settings, and then press the OK button.
Press the Right Arrow button to select Wireless Setup Wizard, and then press the OK button.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the network setup.
Here are several other ways to connect to your network if you need it:
Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network
    I hope this helps

  • My HP office jet 6500 printer is stuck on pause. I do not have an admin name or password as it is a wireless printer and I never had to set one up.  It keeps asking me for admin name and password...

My HP office jet 6500 printer is stuck on pause.  I do not have an admin name or password that it keeps prompting me to give, as it is a wireless printer and that info was not required when we set up the printer.  I have checked all diagnostics and connections and they are all good/passed.  I am so frustrated!!!    This has never happened in the past.

What is asking you for an admin name and password? What does the dialog say, exactly?
What model iMac are you using, and which OS version?
If it is earlier than Lion or Snow Leopard, try deleting the printer and adding it again as explained in this document
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3140
Otherwise you can "reset the printing system" as explained here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
    and here

Download the latest drivers here (Lion, Snow Leopard)

  • Is there a difference between a office jet 6500 and one with an "a" or "plus"

    Hello, first post here.
I was given a office jet 6500 without the cd rom set up disc. The unit came with 4 new cartridges. Started trying to get it up and running and first it would not draw paper in. Checked this site and resolved that. (temporaily?) Then saw it was low/out of ink. Installed the new carts. Colors work fine, but no black.
I have no cd rom for this and no manual.
I see you can download the set-up but was perplexed by the mention of 6500a and 6500 plus, Not sure I have those. On the front it says "HP office jet 6500 wireless".
So I assumed that I need to run the jet cleaning function. I started scrolling in it;s menu but was baffled that it said there is no computer hooked up. Do I need that to clean the jets?
I could get by for now with a properly working stand alone copy/printer. But I would not mind at all following up with the wireless set-up to my sony pcv-rx752 pc. We're useing at+t here with a wireless router.
    This question was solved.

First click the Setup button, select Network and follow the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your home network.

The 6500A is a different model then the one you have..

  • HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus

Hello.  My HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus, which contains a copier, printer, and scanner all in one, has always worked well for me in the past. I have always been able to make copies, print documents from my computer, as well as scan documents that I place onto its platen glass, in order to then be able to email these documents.
Now, only the copier and printer function work. Thus, I am still able to copy documents which I place onto the platen glass of the HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus, and I am also still able to print out documents from my computer onto the HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus.
However, now, for some reason, just very recently, the scanner is not working.
For example, from the small window on the HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus, I press the command, Scan. At this point, I am prompted, as I have always previously been, to select Memory Device or Computer. I select Computer (as I have always done).
Then, I am given some sort of error message, such as: No Computer detected. You can start a scan from your computer, scan to your computer from the printer. Make sure the HP Printer software is installed. Windows only – Network Connection. In the HP Printer software, enable the “Activate to Scan Computer” function.
Therefore, where do I find this on my computer? I not being completely versatile in navigating around Windows version 8.0 which is the Operating System for my HP computer, how do I get to wherever it is that I need to go in order to apparently set up whatever is necessary in order to get my scanner working again? For example, what directory, or sub-directory, etc., do I go to in order to, apparently, “Activate to Scan Computer” function?
If it is inside, for instance, the Control Panel, how do I get to the Control Panel? Then, once I am in the Control Panel, what is the next step?
    Thank you very much.
All the best to you, James

    Dear Nimia,
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond to me.  You being so informative, I can tell that you had the best of intentions within your response to me back on September 26.  However, I am apparently not computer proficient enough to be able to know how to go to, as you otherwise nicely stated,
"Find the Hewlitt Packard folder where your applications are. then go to HP Utility, then select your device (printer name)."
Therefore, what I ended up doing was to go to the website, www.hp.com.  From here, I selected Support, then, Download Drivers, where it then prompted me for, "Find my product".   In that block, I typed in HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus.
Then, after selecting on HP Office Jet 6500 A Plus,  I selected my Operating System in order to proceed to download once again the appropriate program so that my computer can be able to talk to my scanner.
Once again, Nimia, thank you very much!
    All the best to you,
    James

installed a new black ink printer cartridge in hp office jet 6500 e709n  and it is not printing out anything with Black ink. I ran all the diagnostic tests including cleaning the cartridges, cartridge alignment, shut off the printer unplugged it, restarted, shut down computer retarted. All the other colors work except for the black cartridge. I checked the vent on cartridge and it is they way it should be. How can I print with Black Ink? very upset!!!! Have got to get something printed ASAP

I've got the same with a new black ink cartridge. The display keeps alerting that you have to renew the ink. Tha's oke but the printer does not print black/White.
Do i have to replace the collor ink also at the same time?
Does it mean that if you replace black and not the color that it's NOT possible to print b/w?

  • How to rollback driver for Office Jet 6500 APlus Printer

I recently updated the driver for my Office Jet 6500 APlus printer and do not find it to be useful or efficient for my purposes. The printer is connected wirelessly  to a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop PC running Windows 7 Home Premium. Can anyone tell me how to roll back the printer's driver to the one previously installed which is the one that came with the printer when it was purchased about 4 or 5 years ago.

    Hello oldhand,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues since you have updated the driver.
I have a few steps that I think will help us.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I am also going to give you detailed instructions for Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the printers software and drivers have been removed, please click on the following link for the HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Please fee free to write me back if you have any other questions.
    Cheers,

  • Is a mac osx server fits to a office with 10 PCs

I want to set up a server for my company
The purpose of the server is to store files, share files & printer, a calendar, an internal website( for hosting a blog and filemaker files), regular backup
My office will have 10 PCs (window 7) connects to the server, and my company dont have an IT expertise ..
I have considered between Window SBS, Mac osx server and ubuntus server
I think a mac mini server is the best solution for me as:
    1: easy installation
    2: less expensive than SBS
however, is the mac mini server work well in my case?
    Thank you very much!

An Apple Mac Mini server would be a good fit. It includes two 500GB drives and an unlimited-user copy of Mac OS X Server. Not bad for $999.
Mac OS X Server itself is very easy to configure and Apple has a lot of resources on their website to help guide you.
You will want to make sure to configure all of your file sharing share points with SMB for the Windows clients to access. You won't be able to take full advantage of Mac OS X Server's offerings, but for file sharing it will be fine.

  • Office jet 6500 Incompatible IP Address

Having problems with my printers wireless performance - Has worked fine until yesterday but when I tried to print this morning, I couldn't get it to print despite Wireless light being on the printer. When I ran Configure My Printer function, when it ran the Check Network Set Up it gave me the following response "Your printer has limited connectivity. Your printer is using IP address 169.254.2.80, which is not compatible with the IP address 192.168.0.5 of the PC. Power off your printer and then power on and wait 60 sec for the printer to acquire an IP address. Then click Retry." Am beginning to run out of patience having spent a good couple of hours already so any assistance would really be appreciated!!
    thanks

OK, there is something going on, probably with your router settings.  Here are some suggestions:
    1. Make sure you have 802.11g enabled - along with other modes is fine, but 'g' must be present.
    2. Use WPA encryption or WPA/WPA2 encryption.
    3. Do not use MAC filtering nor hide the broadcast of your SSID.
    4. Change the router channel to 11.

  • Office Jet 6500 E710n-z WIFI will not work on any devices-please help

for some reason, my printer's WIFI quit working.  I have downloaded all of the HP assistance stuff and install all of the software correctly to my laptop.
When I print the network configuration page from the HP printer, it says active connection type- "wireless" and it says status "ready."  It passes all of the tests for confirmation and I have reset it to factory settings and started over with the wireless connection wizard.  No matter what I do, my printer won't print from my laptop or my iphone wirelessly.  All the devices, such a phones, will detrect the wifi printer but it just will say "error" when printing.
Could this be my wireless router setting?  Should I contact my internet provider and see if there is some secruity on the wifi.
The printer asks for my  WAP passphrase- that's my wifi password, yes?
I don't know what else to do.  It says it's connected to WIFI but nothing prints.
Also, I have tried to manually enter my printers URL/ISP so I know that's correct too.
Any other ideas- I've also shut down and restarting all d evices associated with it.
    Thank yoU!

Thank you.  I got it to work.  Phew.  I had to call back the cable company and they had to do something on their end to open up the connection.  Thank you!!!!

  • How do i get a print spooler for office jet 6500 E709n

somehow my print spooler is gone how do i get another, i have run the install, diagnostic and utility and none fix the problem. I can see the printer in my wireless network but can't print to it
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

If your PRINT SPOOLER IS "GONE", you may have to contact WINDOWS for this issue. I would like to double check first though.
What operating system are you using? If windows 7 or XP, do the following:
    1. Click Start Menu
    2. RIGHT-click computer
    3. Choose MANAGE
    4. Click Services and Applications
    5. Choose Services
    6. Scroll down until you see PRINTER SPOOLER, if it is there, click on it, and START it
IF you DO NOT SEE IT IN THAT LIST, you will have to contact WINDOWS, because you may have to reformat your operating system, but contact them first.
Let me know if this helps, thanks.
