Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues

Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
another forum here:
MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
and Illustrator.

Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to.  A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk.  There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
And a similar older one:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not.  You can try running a disk and permissions repair.  After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion.  If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know.  I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.

I am trying to install Maya 6 on my mac and I get the error that my computer is too new... where can I get a copy of MAC OSX 10.4 to install? I have an old powerPC that I could put this on instead of my newer computer. My company does not have to resources to upgrade the copy of Maya at the moment, so this is my best option.

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1976068 Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac?

Possible Alternative if you are currently using Panther 10.3 – Do a Google search for Tiger 10.4 Upgrade DVD. It will upgrade your 10.3 to 10.4, but it doesn’t contain the full retail Tiger installer. Should be cheaper than the retail Tiger install DVD.
After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US

I tried to install Mac OSX 10.4.8 on my G4. I put the install disc in as instructed and restarted the computer. The Apple logo comes up, then a gray screen with the following message:
"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for

  • Can i install mac osx back again after installing windows 7 on my mac book a1181?

i have apple mac book a1181 white, but i had problem logging on as it was secured by a password, and i allready lost my recovery dvd, so i installed windows 7 on my mac book a1181 by deleting its partition from GTP to NTFS but i experienced problems after installing windows 7 as sound was not comming as i could not find sound drivers for macintosh, so now i plan again to restore my apple macbook a1181 back by reinstalling mac osx 10.5.8, how can i again install mac osx on my notebook and is it possible to re-install mac on my notebook? please give me some help.

Insert your OS X install disc and restart holding the C key, hold it down until you see the Apple logo and spinning gear. Choose your language and at the next screen from the top menu bar select Utilities-Disk Utility. Select your internal hard drive, click on the Partition tab and select 1 partition. Click on the Options button and select GUID partition scheme. Click OK. Choose to format the drive as Mac OS Extended Journaled. When Disk Utility is done and your drive is properly partitioned and formatted quit DU and go back to the installer screen and reinstall OS X. When you're up and running run software update a couple times to get everything up to date as far as you can with 10.5.8. Then consider upgrading to OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard for $19.99 here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

  • Adobe Flash Player Enterprise Install Issue

Couple months ago we deployed Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2 (ActiveX) to our enterprise.  Recently, our users have been calling the help desk stating that when they visit sites that have flash content, it asks them to install flash (however flash player is already installed on their computers).  I'm in charge of packaging and deploying at our company and this is the first time I've seen these after heading up multiple flash updates.  I've recently upgraded a few of our training rooms to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 and so far have not been able to replicate this issue with the new version. My concern is that after we deploy this new version to our whole enterprise, the issue will appear again.  So my question is, has anyone else seen this issue and/or know why it's occuring?

  • MAC OSX flash player  won't install

I have run the Flash Player uninstaller, and rebooted, and
tried to install the newest version of the player, as well as
archived versions (player 7). In each case, the installer runs, and
says it installed successfully, but when the test launches in a new
    browser window (

it says I have "version 6,0,21,0" installed. This is driving me

  • CS3 Dreamweaver install issue on Mac

I have uninstalled CS3 from my old MacBook pro and reinstalled it on my new MacBook Pro with 10.8. All applications work except Dreamweaver. When launcing Dreamweaver I get a warning message (has an ! icon) screen that has no words in it and an OK button. When I click the OK button, the program quits. I thought maybe using the disk to install would work, but I get the message that resources are missing and it won't install. What do I need to do to get Dreamweaver to work? Thanks

  • Help - "Installation failed" Mac OSX could not be installed

I have had a really lousy day with the Leopard install. I got the five license family pack.
2 x white MacBooks - fine - although on one the DVD kept spitting it out and after about 10 goes it worked.
1 x Mac Mini - blue screen upon restart. Still not fixed.
    1 x 24 iMac - fine
    1 x 17 iMac - DISASTER
I need help on the last one and can't find a post anywhere.
I did the install. It started back up and I was ready to rock and roll. But it changed by account to "standard" rather than "administrator". Spoke to Apple, suggest erase and clean install, started that, then read a post on how to fix this after wiping. So that put me in a foul mood...
Then, I put the Leopard disk in and then did the erase, repair, verify, etc. I then chose the now blank hard drive as the destination drive. It then goes through the motions of calculating the time remaining, etc.
After about 5 minutes of "installing" I get a whopping great big exclamation mark and the text "Installation failed, Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer, The installer could not validate the contents of the "base system". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again". I have tried this a few times - no good. Apple Australia is now closed for the night.
So I went back to my original 10.4.8 iMac install disc and thought I would try that. I would then put Leopard over the top of that. It says it can't install this operating system on the selected drive.
So, I can't install the new, I can't install the old.
    HELP!!!
    Thanks,
    Andrew
    Sydney, Australia

Me and my folks bought a copy each. I installed mine on my Macbook Pro and there was no issue. I went to my folks to help them as they are not as confident as me and had a disaster. They have a first generation current configuration iMac G5 (the one just before isight was added). But the installer completely freaked. The log spat out heaps of errors. Each attempt got completely different behavior. Sometimes it would just go idle and do nothing more. Two attempts that got further than the idled attempts ended up failing about half way through telling me the disk is damaged. The disk looks perfect and the installer verification checks out. I checked the disk on my MBP and it checks out there too. No trouble starting up from it or accessing any of it's features. So I tried it out on my macbook pro and it works fine. So I checked out the iMac with disk first aid and it checks out also. The end result was I had to reinstall 10.4 and run the updates over it and give up. Took me all week end (just finished just now)... Also the ROM is ok as I installed the 10.4 version without a single error in the log. They will be returning their copy to the store monday!
    --- Added
Incidentally. When I installed at home I was able to deselect everything except the system essentials. But at my folks the installer wouldn't allow me to deselect the languages. The difference between the two is I did a fresh installer and they asked for me to just do an update. In my attempts I did end up doing an archived install, no difference. Only thing I didn't do was a format install. In the end I should have tried as I had to reinstall 10.4 from scratch anyway and ret a few things as the installer had partially installed the new OS. I just didn't have much faith in the formatted install from working either as at the time I wasn't sure if the ROM had an issue with the disk or if there was some fundamental conflict with the hardware, either case wouldn't suggest that approach would work any better.

  • Lost Mac OSX notes.app after installing IBM Lotus Notes Mac client.

The stupid IBM installer messed up OSX by installing its client with the same app name. In later releases they fixed the issue, but since then I lost the native OSX notes.app.
How can I recover or reinstall the notes.app? Any other way then a system factory restore. That would set me back a few days, time which I really don't have.
Alternativelly is there a notes app on the appstore that does syncs the notes created with iOS/OSX notes.app. I searched a bit, but I couldn't find one claiming to do that. Ultimately I rather spend $10 in such an app then waisting time with restoring my Macbook.

You can simply do a 'fresh' installation of Mountain Lion - won't touch your data - by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting and electing to install ML anew.
That will reinstall the Notes app and your data will be intact.

  • Mac IOS Flash Player updated installed but not detected

I have repeatedly installed the new version of FlashPlayer when prompted over the past few days. My computere shows the installation as successful, but it's not working. I've visited the Adobe Troubleshooting page, and it does not detect the installation, although my finder show the program as installed. My computer is compatible with the new version, although I'm running an older IOS - Snow Leopoard ( 10.6.8) I've reinstalled several times following all directions - uninstalled old version, unblocked pop-ups, disabled fierwall.
    VERY frustrating!
    What do I do?
    Thanks!

Snow Leopard is not iOS... iOS is an iPhone, an iPad or an iPod Touch. And there has never been a Flash Player for iOS, because Apple made iPads, iPhones, and iPod Touch incompatible with Flash Player right from the start.
