Mac osx quit while playing nanosaur

hey everyone i am worried about my ibook since mac osx quit unexpectadly and i had to restart please tell me if i should worry if it did this one time
thank you

How much RAM do you have? Nanosaur is 3D game so it likes lots of RAM. My wife used to play it on her G4 iMac all the time. I don't recall if she ever had a kernel panic. Kernel panics aren't normal, but they aren't unheard of either. I wouldn't worry about it unless it started happening on a regular basis.

Are you downloading iTunes form an Apple website or somewhere else? If the answer is somewhere else, try downloading it from Apple. Click on iTunes in the black menu bar above and go from there.

  • Mac OSX quits unexpectedly!?

I have this issue where my computer quits all of a sudden where I have to turn it off and re-start. After it reboots the message " The computer was restarted after Mac OSX quit unexpectedly" comes on.
Does anybody else have this problem. It doesn't happen very often but still I want to get this fixed. I think it usually happens after I start a program. Last time it happened I started the Logic Studio Music software.

I just had that problem for the first time. I have had Leopard installed for about 2 weeks. The computer had gone to sleep, and when I pressed a key to wake it up, the monitor stayed dark, although the LED stopped pulsating and remained steady. I pressed the on button on the computer for 5 seconds for a restart, and then the monitor lit up and I got the same message, "The computer was restarted after Mac OSX quit unexpectedly". I am seeing a lot of "rough edges" in Leopard.

  • Mac OSX quits unexpectedly when opening Logis Files!?

I have this issue where my computer quits all of a sudden where I have to turn it off and re-start. After it reboots the message " The computer was restarted after Mac OSX quit unexpectedly" comes on.
Does anybody else have this problem. It doesn't happen very often but still I want to get this fixed. Strangely, it happens when I try to open certain Logic Projects. I can open some of them but some of them crash.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • Mac OSX quit unexpectedly

My iMac G5 (first generation with isight) keeps quiting. The first time it happened, I had several applications opened at once (illustrator, photoshop, mail, etc). The screen start dimmed and a box appeared and said that I need to restart my computer by using the power button (in about five different languages).
When I restarted my computer, I only opened illustrator and the same thing happened two more times. Please help! What should I do?
I guess I should tell you that I am operating the latest version of Leopard (I am using my laptop now) and I recently added 1g of memory.

My iMac G5 recently started experiencing kernel panics. I did not want to try and fix the problem myself, so I took it to my local "Mac Talk" (an authorized Mac dealer). I received a phone call from one of their technicians who said they could not duplicate my kernel panic after 2 days of testing. He also said that my computer passed all of the hardware tests. He thought my problem might be with my external hard drive. I gave him a little more info about my experience with the kernel panic and he said he was going to do further testing.
I just received a call from another employee at Mac Talk (not the technician) and he said that my computer has a bad hard drive and it would be $200 to replace + 2 hours of labor to move the data from my old hard drive. Does this sound reasonable? Should I get a second opinion? Also, it is possible to purchase apple care and have it covered through that?
    Please help!

  • Music Unexpectedly Quitting while Playing

I've only had my iPod touch for about 3 weeks now, and the main problem I've been having is with playing music. I'll be listening to a song, then suddenly the music will stop and it just goes to the main screen, as if it just quits the application without me doing anything. I also noticed that it happens almost instantly if I am listening to a song, then I rotate the iPod to look at album cover art, and as I start browsing through albums, the music will stop, the music application closes, and I am sent to the main screen. I don't know what to do, I even tried restoring, but that didnt seem to fix the problem. Should I get it replaced or something?

Hello ErikBM, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Firstly we need to know what software version you are currently running on iPod touch, to find this out, on your iPod touch goto:
    *Settings > General > About > Version (1.?.?)*
If you are running 1.1.2, you can try restoring your iPod to try and kick the iPod into functioning properly again. To do this, goto:
*iTunes > Plug your iPod touch in > Summary Tab > Restore > Yes*
Also, if your iPod touch is not running 1.1.2 currently, this method will install it fully from scratch, for you.
After this, and after a couple of days use and evaluation, if you still have the problem, another possibility is the format of the tracks you are syncing to the device. AAC is great for quality, but has a rather large file-size, whereas MP3 is not so great on quality, but is great for fitting over-the-norm of tracks on your iPod due to file size reduction.
Firstly try converting some of your tracks to AAC, and see if it helps. To do this:
*Select your tracks > right click them > Convert selection to AAC*
If this method does not work, and the problem persist, the last resort is a corruption of file, or files which iPod touch doesn't recognize, and therefore crashes to the main screen.
If all these methods are futile, then it sounds like the flash module inside your iPod is not storing the software data correctly, and therefore causing crashing.
A last thought - Have you jail broken or attempted to jailbreak your iPod touch? - This can cause instantaneous crashes.
I hope your resolve your problem, either way.
    Thanks
    R-Fly

  • Computer restarted after Mac OSX ...

I've been surfing the net for a solution to this for two days, and so far nothing has worked. I'll abbreviate this 'nightmare' as best I can ...
I have a Mac G5 running 10.5x. Been running fine since I bought it some years back. Last week it just froze. Fans kicked on - the whole shabang. I was able to view the hard drive using my laptop and save my important files to an external hard drive. I attempted an Archive and Install, but the computer froze at 23% complete. I was able to get it started again after multiple attempts only to freeze again (and again, and again). I decided to forgo the Archive and Install and just wipe the slate clean with a fresh install. After the new install, the machine runs ... well kinda' whenever it pleases then it freezes. Initially I was getting the black kernel panic box. Now it just freezes up and I have to do a hard restart which gives me the dreaded "The computer was restarted after Mac OSX quit unexpectedly" when it reboots. Then it runs for a while, freezes, restart, run, freeze. You get the picture.
The forums that I've visited suggested many things, and here's what I've done so far:
    Verified and repaired my disk
    Repaired permissions
Ran a program called "Remember" because many of these issues seem to be related to RAM. (Remember reported all RAM to be okay)
    Disabled screensavers
    Disabled sleep
    Disconnected all peripherals
Ran software update so all software is current
I had an Apple Genius look at it yesterday, and he told me everything's fine. He opened and closed apps, surfed the net, a total of five or ten minutes. The machine worked like a champ. It never froze. Of course I bring it home and just today it's frozen three times. No pattern that I have noticed, and I've been documenting all of my actions.
From what I've read, this is USUALLY a software issue. I have not installed any software since the reinstall. All that's on the machine is what was included on the install DVD. The RAM that I'm using is the original factory installed RAM (2-2 gig chips).
My IT friend told me to cut my losses because the machine is toast. I'm having trouble believing that.
Anyone out there have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance -

Do not use the leopard disk, use the gray disk (Disk 1) you got from the original box. It will erase the entire hard drive and install factory settings. After you install from the gray disk, let it run for a little until you install the leopard retail disk.

Long story short: Simply get CC for teams. At 500 bucks a year it's a steal and those 5 licenses in the base package (or was it 10 even?) cover all your computers, at least the 3 ones you mentioned. For system requirements refer to the individual product pages.

  • When I sync with my iphone i get an error reporting message but the sync still works.  After trying to download 10.6.3 Mac OSX Snow Leopard, this message appears every few seconds until I quit Entourage.  How do I turn this message off?.

    Question:
When I sync with my iphone I get an error reporting message but the sync still works.  After trying to download 10.6.3 Mac OSX Snow Leopard, this message appears every few seconds as long as Entourage is open.  This continues until I quit Entourage.  How do I turn this message off? It interferes with any other work I am doing.   I appreciate any suggestions.

I only have one video project that I ever published to iDisk. It didn't have any music or photo files attatched to it, just a few clips stitched together. I can play these clips right now in the Event Library (so I know the source files are on my computer), but strangely, under the Project Library, the project is not there. I'm almost certain that I didn't store the project on iDisk; I just completed the video and published it to iDisk (as a .mov file I think) for family to see. I've tried to figure out how to get iDisk to stop looking for this project to no avail.
I don't know if others have experienced this, but if I click on any project and on the menu bar select Share --> Remove From --> Media Browser... it lists iPod, iPhone, iPad, tv, Computer and MobileMe. Why would MobileMe be an option here? This is the case for any video project I select. Didn't iLife '11 and/or OSX 10.8 remove all mention of MobileMe? I wonder if this is part of the problem too.
Edit: I just removed every project I have from the Media Browser. Still no luck.

  • MAC  OSx Unxpectedly quit

Recently after i shut my computer off i have had a hard time getting it to restart and then once it does restart i get a message that say mac osx has unexpectedly quit, Why is this happening and what can i do about it?
    THank you
    Mac Book Pro

Eileen, why do you unplug the computer? That's not necessary, unless you will be gone for days.
How do you turn it off? There's a right way and a wrong way. The wrong way is to do a forced shutdown by holding down the Power button. The right way is to select Shutdown from the Apple menu.
If the computer doesn't boot up properly you have some operating system problems and/or disk directory problems. That can result from forced shutdowns, power problems, or other events that change permissions, corrupt files or caches, etc.
It's time for some routine OS X maintenance. Launch Disk Utility, select your boot volume (probably named Macintosh HD) and run permissions repair. Then run verify disk. If an error is reported, insert your Installation Disc 1 DVD and reboot while holding down the C key. When the installation screen appears, go to the menu and choose Disk Utility. Select your boot drive and run disk repair. If no error is reported, run it again to be on the save side. (Note: if the disk repair routine reports that it cannot fix the problem, more drastic measures will be required. The full version of Tech Tools may be able to fix the problem. Otherwise, you may have to completely wipe your drive (you will lose everything not backed up to another drive or CD) and reinstall the operating system.)
Assuming the situation noted in parentheses above isn't the case, reboot and see if the computer is running properly.
I also recommend routine preventive maintenance with a utility such as OnyX (free) or C ocktail (shareware) that cleans out cache files and runs a number of maintenance processes.

  • Mac OSX unexpectedly quits

My computer started acting wonky after I downloaded Onyx and used it to clear out some space on my hard drive. Anything I try to find in spotlight yields "no results found." I have to use the shortcut "Shift""Apple""N" to create a new folder on the desk top. And worst of all, my computer freezes every once in a while and a transparent black box pops up on the screen saying "you must restart your computer because Mac OSX unexpectedly quit. Hold down the power button to restart." I don't want to have to reinstall my OS. Is there any other way around this issue?

First we need to fix the HD I think, work on Spotlight later.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.
