Mac + PC sharing Airport - but IE on PC not working?

Hi,
I've got an iBook connected to NTL Broadband via Airport Express. My girlfriend now has a PC laptop and wants to connect wirelessly.
I have followed these forums and iFelix and managed to get her PC connected to her airport express and with an IP address 192.168.1.3. However, her Internet Explorer still thinks there is no connection and won't access any websites. My iBook is set to share its internet connection via Airport and the Firewall will allow Personal Web Sharing.
I presume this is a d*ned PC issue, but does anybody here know where I am going wrong?

Express and not the iBook.
Yes, her PC is connected to our Airport Express. It manages to connect according to the "Status".
Internet sharing on the iBook should be disabled.
Oh....ok. I figured we had to share the connection. I've unchecked the option, but still no luck.
and the Firewall
will allow Personal Web Sharing.
This is only required if you are running a website.
Makes sense. I've unchecked that, too.
Is the PC connected to the Airport Express wireless
network?
According to her PC's "Wireless Network Connection Status" she is connected to our Airport Express network. The "Support" tab shows:
Address type: Assigned by DCHP
IP Address: 192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Does that sound right? I'm just surprised that it can connect to the Airport but not browse the Internet.

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.

Yes, any version of PSE qualifies for upgrade pricing, but if you're in the US you might want to consider running the trial for now and waiting for the black friday specials, when the full version will be a lot less than the adobe upgrade price.

You should contact your bank to see what browsers they support and until then ignore the message. The chances are very good they suppport Safari and Firefox, both are great browers.

I would start your troubleshooting with the article below for issues of not being able to log in to your Mac. Start with booting up in to Safe Boot as well as resetting PRAM on your Mac. If that does not work, then verify the hard drive with booting to the Recover HD and go to Disk Utility to verify it.

Try this: Open up her Home folder (house icon), click Library then Preferences. Locate com.apple.softwareupdate.plst (I don't have my Mac handy so I can't double-check the name; that should be correct) and move it to the desktop or trash, then try running Software Update again. Also try running Software Update while logged in as another administrator.

As I said, I really do not want to change my email address because it is my work email.
I am a freelance professional and all my clients have been using this mac address for over ten years.
New clients arrive all the time through word of mouth, i.e. old clients who pass on my emial address to people who also need my services. Unfortunately a lot of business works this way, so I would lose lots of clients if I changed my email address. But I guess Apple doesn't know, or doesn't care, about how business works for other people (as long as they're making loads of money from products made by suicidal, slave-driven Chinese workers).
Why are Apple saying you can use iCloud on a PC when this is clearly not the case?
Why didn't they warn me that from one day to the next, the email address I've been using for a decade wouldn't work anymore? I've already lost so many work hours trying to sort this out.
I don't want an iPhone as my new HTC has a better CPU, a larger, higher-resolution screen, more memory, more powerful antennas, a better camera, it's lighter, etc., etc,; iPads are over-priced and more or less useless for my needs; and I already have three laptops and two desktops so I'm not buying an iBook o iMac just for the sake of it.
And with this attitude of Apple's, I'm hardly enthusiastic about buying anything from them anyway. So much for customer care. I feel abandoned and vaguely blackmailed by Apple.

I just tested it (on 10.6.8) and it worked perfectly well, so it may be something on your computer. You could try creating a new user account on your Mac and using that to try downloading. You can then install on that account and it will be available on your normal one.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

Are you 100% positive you are connected? Head to Settings - Wi-Fi and tap the > next to the network you are connected to? What is listed for an IP address? If it's in the 169.x.x.x range, it means your iPod did not properly receive a valid IP address via DHCP from your modem/router. So the 169.x.x.x address is a self-assigned one.
This can usually be resolved by a reboot of your router. You can do this by unplugging it for about 30 seconds. After it powers back up, try reconnecting it. It wouldn't hurt to try a reset of your iPod as well. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.
