Solved - for me.
I held the mouse down and chose "view package contents" - then was able to click THAT file and install.
There may be a bad extension or message that the computer doesn't see the file as an installable package directly.

Hi, I am having a little trouble with exporting images to another drive and Catalogue and need some help if anyone can give me some advice
I am currently using Lightroom 5.6 and operating on a Mac with OSX Ver 10.9.5.
I am receiving an error problem when doing the following -
I am exporting selected photos from a particular Catalogue saved on Drive 1 to a folder created on another Drive where a Lightroom Catalogue has been created. In this Catalogue I have arranged for the images once exported to be moved to a different folder - I used the Auto Import process under the File dialogue box.
When processing the Export I receive an error message for each of the images being exported indicating the following -
Heading Import Results
Some import operations were not performed
Could not move a file to requested location. (1)
then a description of the image with file name
Box Save As Box OK
If I click the OK button to each image I can then go to the other Catalogue and all images are then transferred to the file as required.
To click the OK button each time is time consuming, possibly I have missed an action or maybe you can advise an alternative method to save the time in actioning this process.

When I bought my Mac Air OSX Version 10.9.2 my daughter helped me migrate the contents of my previous macbook. But in the process seems to have duplicated the iTunes library - How do I get rid of one. The start up disk is almost full and plus it doesn't synch properly with my iPhone 4S. Please help!

You should run repair disk from your software install DVD before you try anything else. The crash may have damaged some of your directories - and a possible cause of the "missing/not missing" tunes.

After an earlier attempt to move Logic from my other mac (OSX 10.6.8) with the migration assistant to my new mac with OSX 10.8.2. I've re-started the whole start up process by erasing the hard drive from the new machine and build it up from scratch. After a new "out of the box" start, I decided to install LOGIC from my disks : starting with my 2007 package Logic Studio 8 and upgrading with my Logic 9 package from 2009. When trying to start to install 2008 I got the error message : Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported.
What does this mean? HOw do I get this working under 10.8.2 as it works flawlessly under OSX 10.6.8. For sure I didn't buy a new machine to have OSX 10.8.2 but I suspect this is the roadblock to installing my logic package.

I completely lost the thread (I actually got confused between you and another poster on a another forum that was asking the same basic question) and somehow ended up thinking you were trying to install on a PPC Mac
My apologies and please ingnore those parts of my last post relating to the PPC Macs...
You have an Intel Mac and therefore Logic Studio 2 Boxed Upgrade set should install/run on your Mac without issue. As I said earlier.. you do not need to try and install from the original Logic Studio 1 /Logic 8 Boxed set...(It won't work anyhow because you have an Intel Mac and that version had a PPC installer) but just install from the Logic Studio 2 / Logic Pro 9 Upgrade Boxed setof DVDs instead...
Have you tried the "Make Disk Image" solution I gave earlier? That normnally works under such circumstances as what you are describing can happen when your DVD drive cannot read the DVDs correctly... I have had this situation myself where one drive read them okay and another failed to do so for whatever reason. Making and then installing from Disk images of those exact same disks resolved the issue for me...
You can try to reinstall directly from the DVDs of course though under some circumstances it may not allow you to reinstall Logic Pro itself if that part of the original installation attempt was successful... in which case you can also try this... (It's probably the easiest method if Logic 9 was already installed and present in your Apps Folder)
If the Logic Pro App is in your applications folder..
Run Software Updates to update Logic Pro to a version that will run under 10.8.2 (The initially installed version of Logic will not)
Run Logic
Go to the menu bar in Logic and select Logic Pro/Install Additional Content and select all content in there..
This content is basically exactly the same as what is stored on the remaining DVDs of the boxed set so you might not need to use the rest of the DVDs to install from but download it all instead from Apple Servers... -
10.3.9 on my G5 to 10.4.2 from my Mac Mini OSX Installer DVD

Here is my situation. I have a G5 currently running 10.3.9 which is my main computer for all my work. I purchased a Mac Mini not too long ago as a back up/special task computer that runs 10.4.2.
I just purchased Techtool Pro 4, and it requires 10.4 as a requirement.
What I would like to do is use my Mac Mini OSX 10.4.2 install disc to put 10.4.2 onto my G5. Does anyone think this would cause a problem because the disc came with and says it's for the Mac Mini? I don't know all that much about these new operating systems, so I apologize in advance if this is a really dumb question. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as I would love to get the Tech Tool up and running on my G5. Thanks in advance for all your help.

G5/ Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.3.9) G5 runs OSX 10.3.9- Mac Mini runs 10.4.2Several reasons why this is not possible.
If your Mini has an Intel processor, the OS X install package that shipped with the Mini cannot be used on a Mac with a PPC processor but regardless, the install package that ships with a new Mac purchase is model and build specific and cannot be used to install OS X on another Mac.
Even if this were possible, it would be a violation of the single use license agreement.
If you want to install Tiger on your G5, you need to purchase a Tiger retail install package which can be used to install Tiger on any Mac model that meets the minimum system requirements for Tiger. -
I have a mac book OSX 10.6.8. I didn't convert my mobileme account in time. Is there anyway to back up my computer to icloud with this version?
I have read that Snow Leopard isn't support by Icloud. I am thinking of upgrading to Maverick, but first need to back up my computer.
Also, if I upgrade, will my programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite stay on my computer?You cannot back up your Mac to iCloud; and you cannot use most of iCloud's facilities with Snow Leopard. You should get an external hard disk and make a clone - that's the safest possible backup as you can boot from it in an emergency.

Question: I bought a 5 yr old Mac G5 OSx 10.4.11, 2 GHz intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB 667 MHz DDR1 SDRAM memory. It works fine but I can't get Thunderbird, Flash Player or Adobe reader to install -- it shows up on desktop as download but not App folder. Why?
The downloads are probably .dmg files (disk images). You would open the disk image (double-click it) to find the application or an installer. If it's the application itself, you then drag the application to your Applications folder to "install" it. If it's an installer, double-click the installer to run the installer that installs the application.
NOTE: If you iMac is Intel, it's not a PPC G5. -

What external drives are compatible with mac g5 osx 10.5.8?
Hello, I have a Mac g5 osx 10.5.8 and I am trying to copy the DVDs for motu's Mach Five2 to an external harddrive. I had everything copied to a La Cie external harddrive, but it seems not to be working any more, so I got a Toshiba Canvio 3.0, version 1 tb and then version 1.5 tb, but the DVDs I mentioned won't copy to it. I get error messages of either 0 or -36, which seems to mean that there is not enough space on the Toshiba external harddrive. The Toshiba has a 500 GB capacity, and the DVD I am trying to copy is 83.3 GB, so I don't see what the problem might be. I have gotten replacement dvds from motu, tried and exchanged the Toshiba, used disk utilities from the Mac, and checked all cables and connections, talked to motu technical support and the people who sold me the Toshiba, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions? They would be much appreciated. Thanks, OJ

Too many "on sale every day" name-brand externals at the local office stuporstore are so Windows-centric that they are often ill-behaved on Macs. I even had a WD external marketed as "Mac Edition" that was nothing but trouble. I tore open the WD enclosure, rescued the decent drive inside, and put it in an enclosure with USB2 and FW800 from the family of units I linked above. Works perfectly now. -

I am using an Mac PPC version 10.5.8 and I am trying to download the correct version of Flash Player. I did once but I had to install a "Clean Install" of my computer and when finished I had put back the new Flash Player I just installed well every time I try install the new player it is place in my Trash Folder and I can not get Player to work. My mac has OSX version 10.8.2 and I'm try to install an aiport express base station which requires 10.5.7 or later. Yet when I try to install the software it says the base station is not compatible with my mac version - how do I resolve?
You already have the software installed that you need if you have 10.8.2.
If AirPort Utility cannot find the Express, that is another matter. More software is not needed. More troublehooting is needed.
Power up the Express for a full minute
Hold in the reset button on the Express for 7-8 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Look for a heading of New AirPort Base Station
Just below that, click on AirPort Express

Printer is overprinting old jobs on top of new jobs. Using a Mac with OSx and a HP photosmart for over a year. this just started happening.
RReset printing system again and the restart in Safe Mode . This will clear some caches,to do this hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup tone until a progress bar appears, after it has fully booted restart normally and add the printer.

To sync an iOS 7 device you need to be running iTunes 11.1.1; iTunes 10.6 is way too old and won't work. You need to install iTunes 11.1.1, but to do that you need to be running at least Mac OS X 10.6.8.
So you need to do the following:
1. Upgrade your Mac to at least OS X 10.6.8 (later preferably, but 10.6.8 at the miniumum).
a. Check first to see if your model Mac can be upgraded, check that it has enough RAM and so forth (2GB at the least, more if possible).
b. If you can't upgrade your Mac, or don't want to, then you will have to buy a new Mac with the latest version of OS X (currently 10.8.5, soon to become 10.9) and iTunes 11.1.1
2. Install iTunes 11.1.1 on your newly upgraded Mac.
3. Sync your iOS 7 iPhone with iTunes.
