MAC Premiere Issue

I use premiere from time to time on my mac. The last time I tried to launch the application it came up all grayed out and no longer operational. It is like it has some sort of licensing issue. Has anybody run into this issue?

I have never seen anyone post those symptoms before. Please provide
these details to help us help you.

Mac Premiere Elements 11 crashes on launch (network account only)

I am trying to use Mac Premiere Elements 11 (OS X 10.8) and it crashes every time on launch, but only for a network account. When I launch using a local administrator user, it works fine. How can I make it work for the network account?
I have already tried ensuring Read/Write permissions on my entire Home folder, and have uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times.
If it matters, the Home folders are on an external disk. The network account is set to be an administrator on the computer (this particular Mac is the Open Directory server, so it's a network user directly on the directory server).
No other application (including Photoshop Elements 11) has any issues at all.
If it is helpful, I can post the (huge) stack trace of the crash. Thank you... --Erik Bailey

Using U tube videos in Mac Premiere Elements 11

Can I download u tube videos to mac premiere elements 11 to use in a project that I am working on? If so, how do I do it?

Mac or Windows or Premiere Elements 11 is not the question....
There are several software targeting video downloads from YouTube, I am told. BUT, last that I heard, none are considered legal for want of a better term. Last time I looked at this issue, the consensus was that the YouTube Agreement did not allow for this activity.

Mac Enrollment Issue on SCCM 2012 SP1

Hi Guys,
I am working on Mac enrollment(10.7) and facing issue during enrollment. Below is the error message when we try to run the enrollment command on Mac :
“Server connection failed. HTTP Response code is 500 and reason is Internal Server Error"

Mac System Issue pop up window has disabled Safari. Please help?

I clicked on a video on FaceBook & ended up with a pop up that says I have a serious Mac system issue & I need to call this phone number immediately.
I can't do anything at all with Safari now. Has anyone had this issue? Know how to get rid of it? I

Force quit Safari and relaunch it with the Shift key held down. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the computer from the Internet and try again.

MAC Flapping Issue

Dear Folks,
I am working with a IT organization as network administrator, at client site we are getting the MAC FLAPPING issue since 1 month, due to that some time it completely down my whole network. Scenario is like that, we are using Ruckus AP and Zone director as a WLAN controller which is directly conecteted with our core switch. Rest of indoor AP's are connected with Distribute and access switch. Now since 1 month we are getting in core switch below mention notification -

As mentioned in msg 12 & 13 VLAN is our WLAN.
After getting this msg automatically all network goes down, I need to shut down the associated port winch is directly or indirectly connected with AP, and after some time it will work properly.
Now I need some mechanism which can be block the duplicate source mac address to preventing from this kind of scenario.

1. Are those MAC addresses actual Wireless Hosts? i.e have you traced them?
= Yes, those are actual wireless MAC add, I have check in zone director controller.
2. Are the SSID's set to tunnel?
=No
3. Do you have one ZoneDirector or two?
=Two, both of them are connected with core switch.
I have been confirmed about that if wireless users are roaming between two AP or more it will appear the same error msg, now what would be the solution. ????
What extly the solution is?>

Either get a PC for that job or export as MOV and convert to an AVI wrapper.

I can confirm that My MAC address issue was caused by the bios that you sited in your comments....all F's were written to My nvidia lan too...

I had the same problem yesterday and after many hours searching the web I ended up with this post that made me really desperate... But I didn't give up and while trying a new bios flash because of random crashes when in the bios, I noticed the obvious: you can change the MAC address when flashing
use the last version of the dos flasher with the parameters /nvmac:xxxxxxxxxxxx/wb after the name of the bios file; it's explained if you ask the help with the /help parameter. You can find the mac address on a stick on the parallel port.

I am having the same problem but cannot get anything but the actual phone to work. I have a unlocked 3GS running 6.0 (what was I thinking?). No data whatsoever, no texting, no visual voicemail. I simply cannot access the APN settings. I have tried sim swap, I have tried APN changers. I have been on the phone with ST tech support for hours and hours. I have tried to get the answers from a "genius". I am stuck and looking at Android devices, but would really like to keep using the iphone with Straight Talk.

Let me be the first to say, welcome to the light side!
Regarding the Penryn Macs: No, there are not so many issues that you should hold off buying one. If you browse the forums here you'll find lots of people running into problems. But remember that all the millions of people that DON'T have problems don't come here to tell you everything's working fine. For the vast majority of people, Macs work seamlessly, day in and day out.
Of course, like all technology products, sometimes Macs have issues. They are made out of the same silicon and chips as other computers and, like those other computers, components can fail or go bad. That's just life. The good news is: it's rare.
Likewise, Leopard is running extremely well for the vast majority of people. To be sure, there are a few small issues affecting small groups of people. Some folks are having wireless troubles, others are seeing some typing issues after a keyboard firmware update, for some folks iTunes is locking up while browsing cover flow. But, again, these issues don't appear to be too widespread and I would certainly not hold off buying a Mac because of them. You can bet that Apple engineers are all over the issues and they'll be resolved soon.
To sum up: the state of the Mac world is fantastic. Like everything else in life, it's not perfect. But it's as close as you'll get with a computer! My advice is to pull the trigger and enjoy the switch! And I'll put my money where my mouth is as well: my $3,000 Penryn MacBook Pro arrives tomorrow morning.

Premiere Pro CS6 Mac Playback Issues

I've searched for similar issues, and while I found plenty of playback issues, I didn't see anything like what I'm experiencing.
MacPro Quad-Core Xeon 2.26 x2 (8b cores)
12 GB ram
OS 10.6.8 (can't update this due to other infrastructure)
Nvidia GeForce GT 120
FAST Fiber attached SAN
Local Raid0 media drive
I know the GPU isn't compatible with the Mercury hardware acceleration.
I've been a Premiere Pro user since version 2 and have kept current through the years. I'm happily running CS5.5 on PC's in my home office. I recently installed the trial version of CS6 on my Mac at work to evaluate for that environment, and I'm pulling my hair out trying to get over some basic issues. I have no problems with Media Encoder or AE.
In Premiere using preview or program (timeline), playback stops after roughly a second... though it varies by several frames each time. I tested this with various video files, .wav files, stills (jpeg, psd), etc. I even tested with black video and bars generated inside Premiere. The problem persists with all of the above... click play, and playback stops after about a second. Scrubbing works great... I've tried different playback resolutions. I'm not using any 3rd party monitoring devices or I/O cards on this machine.
I have FCP 7 installed on the same machine and have no trouble editing and playing 1080i video all day long.
Any ideas?

The above suggestion worked for me briefly, but the problem keeps re-occuring.
I too am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8, NVIDIA gfx card (8800) and an ATI Radeon 5500.
Premiere played back fine in Lion and Mountain Lion, but I downgraded because I have old quicktime files and Final Cut 7 projects that i need to work with so Lion is not an option for me.
Bizarre behavior if you ask me.
Any help on this?

Premiere 9 elements on mac - mp4 issue

Good evening.
I've just imported a MP4 video straight from my sony exr1 camera (HD video) and I always get the error: "Unable to load movie - The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor(codec) installed" when I try playing the video.
I already installed every codec I can think of or find on google but still the same message appears...
I'm running premiere elements on Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard.
Can anyone help please?

If that is from your file, then yes.
That is the pretty "plain vanilla" MPEG-2 CODEC, and the MainConcept version should be installed with the program. If you are getting that error with MPEG-2, then something is likely either getting in the way, or the MainConcept CODEC is hosed.
Let's look at the former first: other CODEC's will often either overwrite existing CODEC's, or change their priority in the system. On the PC, this is through Registry info being changed. Adobe does a good job of "hiding" their CODEC's with "non-standard" naming conventions, but they cannot protect things like "priorities," as those are handled at the OS-level. Priority changes, and the like, often happen with CODEC packs, or the addition of many random CODEC's. However, you were getting the error and THAT is why you installed other CODEC's.
Now, it is not common for the Adobe MainConcept CODEC's to get corrupted, but it has happened. In older versions, Adobe offered the "Repair Install" option, but I do not know if it's available for PrE9. If so, then that would be my first course of action. In the past, this was accessed by inserting the installation media, and letting it autoload to the Installation screen. The installer would survey the system, and if the program was installed, would then offer the Repair Install option. Then, when chosen, the installer would survey the installation, to see what was missing, or broken, and just install that/those element(s). Like I said, I am not sure if PrE 9 has the Repair Install option.
If not, then I would uninstall PrE 9, and reinstall it. Your Projects should not be harmed in any way - the uninstall/reinstall just addresses the program code.

Mac Premiere Pro 5.5.1 - Should I upgrade to 10.7.x Lion?

I have a Mac Pro with 10.6.8 and Premiere Pro 5.5.1. I've been holding off on upgrading to Lion, though I hear that there are significant improvements with timeline performance with it. However, I hear there is a bug related to use of the eyedropper tool. The description Adobe provides about the bug is a bit cryptic, but I assume it affects all uses of the eyedropper, which is used all over Premiere Pro, especially in the effects such as color correction or keying.
Can any Mac users who have upgraded comment on whether they've noticed improvements with their Lion upgrade and PPro 5.5.1 and if they are affected by the eyedropper tool bug?

Peak files and beach balls in MAC Premiere CS4

Hello all,
I having an issue, or should I say issues with Premiere CS4 on a networked Mac, and mac drive. Everytime I go to open a project premiere generates new peak files, which makes opening a 2 minute proj take like 20 minutes. And also it places a bunch of peak files in the folder which takes up space.
Also, everytime I switch programs (like say go from Premiere to Safari, and back to Premiere) or the computer sits for a bit of time, I get the beach ball (of death) for like 5+ minutes before I can do anything with the project. This only happens on my computer, of which we have 4 networked and 1 is connected direct to the network drive which is a Lacie brand Quadra.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Hahaha.

As you know, the .PEK files are the Waveform Display. The .CFA files are the Conformed Audio. These are necessary for PrPro to edit, and to have the Waveform displayed.
My guess would be that PrPro is loosing these, because of the networked environment. I'd try with the Assets copied to the local HDD, and make sure that all Scratch Disks are located locally, as well. If this works, once PrPro has gone through the process of .PEK and .CFA writing, so long as these files are not moved, that should be it, and PrPro should be able to find these files and use them, without additional Conforming and PEK generation.
I've had similar occur on mapped network drives, and just doing the copy and redirecting PrPro to those copies (Relink Media) has cured it. I now only use network drives as storage for Assets, and not to provide same to PrPro for editing.
