Mac Pro 5,1 install disc

Where can I get a copy of the install disc for a 2010 2.93ghz machine (Mac Pro 5,1)? Mine is destroyed.

Call Apple 800 # and they can replace OEM DVD for nominal fee.

  • Apple Hardware Test Unavailable? Mac Pro 2008, Mavericks installed

Restarting my early 2008 Mac Pro with Mavericks installed while holding down the "D" key and it's just booting up like normal. Tried holding it before it shuts down, holding it after the startup tone, and holding it after the grey screen appears (which the apple site says is wrong).
    Any suggestions?

That will only work with the original discs that came with the computer.

  • Can I remove a CD Rom from one Mac pro and re-install it in another mac pro

One mac pro, my computer has a CD ROM that doesn't open and my brother's old Mac Pro has a CD ROM that still opens and closes how easy would it be for me to remove the CD ROM from my brother's old Mac Pro and re-install it in my Mac Pro

2008 and previous used ATA/IDE DVD Readers.
2009 and later used SATA DVD Readers.
You cannot cross the line without changing the cabling, which may be more expensive that just replacing the drive with a new one.
You both should be sure to update to 10.6.8 if you have not already done so, to provide enhanced malware protection. If you cannot do that, turn off JAVA (not javascript) in all your Browsers.

  • Can I use my old AIr Port Extreme with my new Mac Pro with Lion installed? It has worked well with the G-4 that I'm replacing.

I'm smarter now. It worked fine.

  • MacBook Pro 3,1 install discs

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro 3, 1 (mid/late 2007 model) and I would need OS X Tiger install discs (the grey ones that came w/ the computer).
    Does anyone have them?
    Bye, Žiga

Made an Install DVD and booted with it. Got through the language choice and then chose reinstall OS X. The screen that came up had the same message as in the first post.
According to everything I can find, this Macbook Pro IS compatible with Mountain Lion but it won't install.

  • Why my final cut pro 5 in install disc look dim and saying upgrade. I make it with studio upgrade to FCP 7. Now saying FCP 5 upgrade and dim

Hi, I used Final cut 5 and 1 year ago I buy it studio upgrade and I make 7. Everything was ok. Now I changed my computer again with mac pro. I started to install in new computer and I see Final Cut Pro 5 dim and saying upgrade. Was not optional cause for dim..Want it 2 media disc too and look like ok but not working..cant started studio upgrade. Anyone can say something please ?

There's no need to install the old version (5) of FCP on the new computer.  Just start with the newest version.  You will be prompted to enter the old serial number during the install process of the upgrade version.
If you've already installed version 5 on your new computer, use this to remove it:http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/  Then install the newest version only.

  • Mid 2010 Mac Pro will not install 10.7.3 update

    Hi all,
My Mac Pro (Mid 2010) will not install the 10.7.3 combo update. I use the software update tool to download the update, it goes to reboot. It starts loading the update in and at the very end it will tell me none of the updates can be installed because an unknown error has occurred. I have tried multiple times and had the same result.  It also will not install any other updates such as the Airport Utility and iTunes update.  This is a work computer so I think it is important to have all the updates installed on it.

    Then the problem is:
You have Apple Pro RAID controller
    A software RAID
Lion Recovery should be on one of your hard drives, not RAID.
Do a clean install of Lion on one of the other hard drives you have
Anything else we should know about your setup? controllers do matter.

  • Mac Pro - Unable to install SL on disks in Bays 3 & 4

After a debacle this morning, I reinstalled SL tonight after re-cloning the target disk from my Leopard boot drive. Booting from the DVD, I note that all 4 internal SATA drives have a GUID partition, and three boot Leopard just fine. The last 2 drive bays are not available for a SL install though - they had been a RAD volume, but I demoted both drives to get rid of the RAID. Each drive booted Leopard fine, but could not be used for the installation. Is thee some reason why I could not select them as the install target? There do seem to be issues with SL and RAID volumes in Mac Pro's, but once the drives wee demoted, I've have thought that would be irrelevant. Thanks for any ideas!

I'd already done that, being unable to think of anything else. I guess RAID is unreliable for now in SL.

  • Mac OS X Leopard install disc -- optional developer installs -- help please

Hello. I have a question that I've been looking to have answered for a long time. Within the install disc for Leopard, there is a folder called Developer or something like that, and inside it are the installation packages for Xcode Tools, Web Objects, and Dashcode. I have installed these three packages on my computer (I am a computer programmer -- I have very little experience with Mac programming, but I want to get started with learning). Anyways, in addition to these three installation packages, there is a folder called Packages, and inside this folder are about twenty installation packages, with names like X11, WebObjectsDocumentation, gcc, java, and SDKs and earlier versions of Mac OS X and that kind of thing. My question is -- what are these? Are they separate from the things that the Xcode Tools package installs, or are they all included in that package? If I'm going to be developing on the Mac, are these things I am going to need? Any info in regard to this will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My question is -- what are these?
They are sub-packages. The main XCode installer will install all the components by invoking the individual installers. The packages are separated in case you want to install the individual components (e.g. just install X11 without all the other parts).
As to whether you need them, that's only something you can answer based on what you're trying to do.
There's no harm in installing them even if you don't intend/expect to use them, other than eating a little disk space.

  • Seeking advice, Boot Camp on a Mac Pro, how to install on internal HDD

Mac Pro, march 09, dual quad core, four internal hard drives.
I named the four HDDs, Drive 1, Drive 2, Drive 3, Drive 4. Drive 1 has the Mac OS. I plan on dedicating the entire Drive 4 to Windows OS and video storage.
    Questions:
    1. Right now I have Boot Camp installed on Drive 1. I want to remove it and start over because I made the mistake of installing Win7 Pro 32 bit. I bought the 64 bit version for the new install. To remove the existing Boot Camp do I simply use Boot Camp to make Drive 1, one Mac partition again?
    2. Drive 4 is a Western Digital Black Caviar 2 TB. Should I make the entire drive one partition?

    Hi,
    1. The BootCamp Assistant in OSX is indeed the best solution to remove your current Windows installation/partition.
+To delete Windows and the Windows partition:+
1 Start up in Mac OS X.
2 Quit all open applications and log out any other users on your computer.
    3 Open Boot Camp Assistant.
4 Select “Create or remove a Windows partition,” and then click Continue.
5 Do one of the following:
If your computer has a single internal disk, click Restore.
If your computer has multiple internal disks, select the disk with Windows
on it, and then select “Restore to a single Mac OS partition” and click
    Continue.
Since you are fumbling with the partition structure on your harddisk you should have/make a backup or bootable cone of your OSX before starting, just in case.
    2. A good recipe for installing Windows 7 on a dedicated harddisk is to pull out all other harddisks (the first three in your scenario) then boot your MAcPro from the WIndows 7 install DVD and install it on the fourth HD.
After completion of the WIndows installation you can then reinsert the other three HDs.

  • Mac Pro, won't install Adobe Reader 11.04 any help out there

After downloading on my Mac Pro, Adobe 11.04 I can't open it.  And my Mac isn't indicating the problem? Anybody got ideas?

I am having the same problem with my HPT 4321.  After upgrade, wont boot.  Shows up everyone as bootable disk (even when holding option at startup) but Mac will not boot off it.  I installed a fresh 10.6.8 copy onto a usb drive and HPT drivers work so might just be something to do with the main drive being bootable.  To complicate things, the Snow Leopard DVD doesn't have the drivers to see the array so cannot use it for troubleshooting.  It will not start in safe mode. Downloaded combo updater to try and re-update but it doesn't let you install it on another drive.  HPT driver installer doesn't allow you to install on another drive so also can't re-install driver.  Only choice seems to be install OS on new disk and recreate everything from scratch, then SuperDuper back to HPT drives and hope that it was a corruption during the update but not sure that it will boot even after all that work.
Anyone have a working computer with 10.6.8 and booting off a Highpoint RAID card?

  • How do I order a Mac Pro w/ Bluetooth installed? Can't find any clear info.

It's driving me nuts, that I can't get a clear answer on this. Search just turns up people installing them.
I'm planning on buying an 8-Core in June, and I want it to come with Bluetooth. Nowhere on the Configure screen does it have an option to have one come installed. The online manuals don't say whether they just are built-in or not.
Can someone please give me some clear info on how a Mac Pro can come with Bluetooth. I seriously swear I'm not an idiot.

They are built into the current Mac Pros.

  • Mac OSX 10.5 Install Disc

I lost my leopard install disc for my PowerPC Mac G5 (no intel 2003 model). I need to reset the password and apparently, this is the only way that will work. I tried running the terminal commands and apples support, but had no luck.
    Can anyone direct me to:
    1) A place on apple's site I could download it?
    2) A place I could buy it used without spending more than $30?
    Thanks

I need to reset the password
Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
    1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
    2. wait for terminal show
    3. release keys
    4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
    5. press enter
    6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
    7. press enter
    8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
    9. press enter
This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.
    http://www.macobserver.com/tip/2003/06/16.1.shtml
Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
       1. Reboot
       2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
       3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
              * mount -uw /
              * rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
              * shutdown -h now
       4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!
