Mac Pro doesn't recognize BluRay burner with Lion

My Mac Pro would occasionally recognize my Blu-ray DVD burner, now with the Lion update, not at all.  My Apple Superdrive is recognized in Bay 1, but not the Blu-Ray in Bay 2.  Is there any way I can get my blu-ray burner to show up and be usable?  I have used Toast Titanium Pro to burn several BluRay discs before on this computer, but with Snow Leopard; even then, I would have to re-boot the Mac Pro in order to get it to remember it.

Look back a couple months for a long thread on BR burners and support.
Also, check and see what OWC sells and supports, and what 3rd party softare or from the vendor of course.
Seemed like BR drive not being "present" after waking from sleep was one issue, or affecting sleep mode. Just like yours.
I don't see that you include the make etc, you might consider that of interest.

Mac pro doesn't recognize administrator password on login, I am using Yosemite and I was using erlier and didint let me log back in password was correct at all times tries to reset password with apple id and still not working. Try disk utilities with terminal and disk is not available, when I updated from maverick to yosemite I didin't set up a disc recovery.

when I updated from maverick to yosemite I didin't set up a disc recovery.
There is no need to do anything to set up Recovery. It should have been created and updated automatically on your Boot Drive when you upgraded to Yosemite.

  • Mac Pro doesn't recognize USB 3.0 PCI express card

Mac Pro doesn't recognize USB 3.0 PCI express card.  Does it need specific drivers?

I did a little searching for that card.  The more I looked at it the more I felt that, yes, it needs a driver, and no, one doesn't exist for the Mac.  So it looks like that is a card only supported for PC's. But to be sure, if I were in your place at this point, I would contact MSI directly.

  • Mac Pro doesn't recognize any internal drive

My Mac Pro (2008) -- after rebooting -- does not recognize any of the internal drives. I'm running 10.6.8 and all of a sudden after reboot, the machine hangs on grey screen and I get folder w/ question mark symbol. I boot from Snow Leopard install disk but no drive shows up as being able to reinstall on. Even opening up Disk Utility from Snow Leopard disc shows no internal drive.
    Any ideas?

Just a few additional random thoughts on this Hardware:
A SATA controller failure should take out all SATA drives. On the 2008 model, the Optical drives are IDE/ATA, but there are two additional SATA ports (data only) on the motherboard.
In the 2008 and previous models, the Mac Pro RAID card uses a cable called iPass to intercept the essential signals to the four Hard Drive bays and route them through the RAID card. If that iPass cable were to come loose, the four main drive bays would stop working.

  • Mac Pro won't recognize and connect with video camera

I can't establish Fire Wire communication in FCP 7.0.3 between the device which is Canon HD 20 and my new late 2010 Mac Pro. There is no problem communicating between old MP 2006 and MBP 2008. The new MP has only FireWire 800 ports but that shouldn't make any difference, should it?. There must be something in the late 2010 MP which prevents the communication using FireWire although I can use old iSight.

No, but you do need to configure the Ethernet port in Network preferences. Open Network preferences and select the Ethernet port. Click on the Advanced button then on the TCP/IP tab. Set the Configure IPv4 drop down menu to DHCP. Set the Configure IPv6 drop down menu to Off. Click on the Apply button. If all is well you should see a valid IP address in the network settings for the port. If you see an IP address starting with 169., then it means your Ethernet port is not getting an IP address from your router. You should have an Ethernet cable connected from the Ethernet port on the computer to one of the LAN ports on your router.

  • My 2007 mac pro has a slow internet connection with lion

    Hi:
I've been dealing with a severely slow internet connection with my 2007 mac pro - dual quad core.  I have os 10.7.3.  I use wifi.
Typically, I'll experience difficulty loading websites completely.  Certain sites have a 90% failure rate to load most elements.  Other sites operate quickly from time to time.  Often, a site will simply fail to load at all.  My cable company cannot find anything wrong with my connection and other, newer devices don't have a problem loading sites.  It seems the issue is most likely related to my computer.
Interestingly, I can usually "jump-start" the connection by turning my wifi connection off and on and this will (temporarily) allow me to get an image or video to download.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you for your time.

  • My Macbook Pro doesn't seem to 'roar' with Lion

    Hi.
So, I have a Macbook Pro (mid 2009) which came med Snow Leopard. A couple of weeks ago I updated to Lion because I noticed that still more software requested OS 10.7 (Lion). I did everything the way Apple Support Documents told me to and the installment went smooth.
    However,
Besides my Mac is a little slower (I guess due to the new graphic effects in the OS), Safari webbrowser runs REALLY SLOW!
Like, my Mac gets USELESS as soon as I open 3-4 tabs because content load really slow.
I've also noticed that my Mac gets really (really!!) warm whenever I run too much content with Flash.
Can anyone please help me out here ? I've already done the whole 'disk-utility'-thing. Do I need to do a clean install of Lion, or would it be better if I just went back to Snow Leopard ?

First of all do not turn Off Akamai.
Kill the flash webkit process in Activity Monitor by choosing the red Quit icon, then force quit.
Update Safari via Software Update from the Apple menu in the top right of your screen.
    Restart your computer.
Ensure the java runtime environment is installed, check compatibility with your Adobe and Flash products and known issues with Lion by following this link:

  • Mac Pro doesn't recognize Magic Mouse

I have had a wireless mighty mouse without any problems but liked the idea of the magic mouse. The Mighty Mouse works fine and I've switched around the BT wires inside like many have talked about. However, when I try to setup the Magic Mouse, it isn't recognized at all. However, I can set it up without any problems with my Macbook Pro. Any thoughts?

Good question. I have a PPC with a D-LInk bluetooth (DBT-120, Rev. C) and I can't get the Magic Mouse to pair with the Mac. I downloaded the latest version, and all I get is a blinking mouse light. D-Link companyt says their bluetooth was only developed for OS-X 10.4 (Tiger) and only worked with luck with OS-X 10.5 (Leopard). There are some problems with the bluetooth keyboard (won't send wakeup from sleep mode) but it hasn't had problems with the Mightly mouse.

  • Bought a new Mac Pro and it didn't come with Lion disk, how can I reinstall OS?

I screwed up font book and reset it to restore to defaults but then it asked me to reinstall Lion... but I didn't not receive a disk with the Mac
How can I get the disk or reinstall it?

There is no disk. Restart with the Option key held down and use the recovery partition.

  • What can I do when I try to access a URL and get the message "MAC OSX doesn't recognize internet addresses starting with "c:"?

I recently tried to download a pdf file from a website in the UK.  Up popped a message saying the website could not be accessed, followed by this message: "MAC OSX doesn't recognize internet addresses starting with "c:".  I was able to access the website easily (its domain was "www") and the page listing the pdfs, but could not download a pdf.  Of course," c:" appears not to be a valid domain name, but why would anyone use "c:" in place of a domain name in their URL?  And what can I do about the problem?  I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10, but also have Firefox and Chrome loaded.  Thanks.

An address starting with c: wouldn't be any kind of domain name. C: is the drive lettering system DOS and and later uses. By default, A: and B: are reserved for your first and second floppy disk drive. All hard drives are then named C: through Z:, if you have that many. C: is normally your startup disk.
Anyway, their PDF file is incorrectly linked to a file directly on the C: drive of someone's computer. It's not going to work no matter what you do.

  • HT5172 My new Macbook Pro doesn't recognize my card reader (with a CF card inserted).

My new Macbook Pro doesn't recognize my USB card reader with a CF card inserted.  It works fine on my old Macbook Pro.
Do I need a new card reader?  USB 3 perhaps?
I would appreciate any input that you may have.  Thank you.

Hi, closereaching. Instead of spending 12 hours reinstalling your operating system and getting everything back up to date again, which probably won't accomplish anything, why not buy a $10 USB card reader for your Casio's SD card? Or (more expensive, but a much more elegant solution), an ExpressCard SD card reader that can stay in your computer all the time?

  • How do I get the Mac Pro (2013) to recognize 4K monitors correctly?

I have a 2013 Mac Pro, Six core, 32GB ram, FirePro 700s, 1TB storage, OS X 10.10. It's connected to a Samsung UN50HU6950FXZA 50" UHD TV via HDMI. The system info recognizes this monitor as a 120.5-inch with 7680 by 4050 resolution. WOW. In the Displays Preferences, this resolution shows up as "best for display". The actual resolution of the monitor is 3840 by 2160, but the closest scaled resolution shown is 3840 by 2025. This actually almost works ok, but requires setting the monitor to "fit" instead of 16 x 9; otherwise the image is slightly too wide for the screen. This happens whether the monitor is connected to the computers USB port or to a Thunderbolt port with a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter. I've tried every combination. I've also booted from a different system disk, reset PRAM and power manager multiple times, used various combinations of monitors, disconnected all peripherals, run hardware diagnostics, everything.
I tried to use the computer with a Seiki 39-inch UHD monitor and it also showed up with these weird resolutions sometimes on startup, maybe once in five times. I thought it was a monitor problem, so tried the Samsung.
There's more, too. The machine doesn't play well with multiple monitors if one of the monitors is a 4K., it is not happy when I uses Spaces with a 4K monitor. In some cases, Final Cut Pro or Premiere CC will get jerky playback, the mouse pointer develops trails, other symptoms that look like graphics card failure. Only a restart corrects these issues.  When the computer wakes from sleep and a 4K monitor is used, the application windows do not come back to the same place on the screen; with 2 monitors, the windows may come back on the wrong screen or the menu may be on the wrong screen, or both.
I wonder if anyone else is having similar problems. I have been on chat and phone with Apple support multiple times over this issue doing screen sharing and various diagnostics.  While they keep trying and escalating, no real progress has been made. I bought the Mac Pro to be able to work with 4K video and actually display it. So far it works, but there are lots of compromises and work-arounds. Apple has suggested bringing the machine to the Apple Store, but since it works fine with smaller monitors, that probably won't help. I finally got a support person to say they may need to try on-site service. I have a call scheduled for Monday--so maybe something will happen.
The Pro is a great machine, but this stuff has been driving me crazy for months now. It's a great machine that just isn't ready for 4K yet

The available display proprieties are based on information that the monitor/TV sends to the Mac. It appears it is not sending the correct info.
You said " This happens whether the monitor is connected to the computers USB port or to a Thunderbolt port with a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter.".
I am confused about the reference to USB.
Does the TV have a displayport or mini displayport input, that is best to use.
Try using the free Display Menu app from the Mac app store. I have to use that to get 3840x2160 (native resolution) on my Dell monitor)

  • Macbook Pro doesn't recognize audio cd's after Yosemite upgrade

After completing the upgrade to Yosemite, my Macbook Pro doesn't recognize purchased audio cd's.  Help!!

    hi russeel!
when i first upgraded to 5.0.1.4 i panicked for a while looking for that tab (and the Burning one) ... the subtab that i find kind of strange is "Advanced-General". Generally Advanced? Not Tremendously Advanced?
    okay, we've gone up a
    b lot
of versions in your case (nearly as many as it is possible to go), so we'd probably better check through some of the usual suspects. let's start off with this document:

  • Macbook pro doesn't recognize camera on image capture

My MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the built-in camera for a lot of my applications, including Image Capture. It doesn't show up anywhere in my system preferences. Any idea why this is so?

    (1)  Mac's built-in camera does not work with Image Capture.
Image Capture works with external devices like scanners, some iOS devices, some cameras and RAM cards, etc.  Click this link for more info about Image capture and some of the apps that can work with your inbuilt camera.
Click here for info about how to use Image Capture to transfer images from a connected external camera.
For more info about Image Capture functions, see Image Capture > Help on your Mac or the Apple pages in this link.
    (2) To test for application-specific problems mentioned in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight " article, use apps like Photo Booth, QuickTime Player, iChat, FaceTime, or others intended to work with your Mac's inbuilt camera.
    (3) To test for user-specific problems mentioned in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 the "How to Troubleshoot iSight " article, you must have more than one user account.  Do NOT use the "Guest" account.  Click this link if you need help creating new accounts for testing.
