Mac pro goes to sleep and the error  log say "The smart launch will be terminated"

Several times in the last few days my Mac Pro early 2008 has locked up.  This occures when leave the machine and come back to it.  I see the screen is black and the only thing that I see after clicking the mouse and pressing keys on the keyboard, is the white outline of the curser that will move across the screen.  Nothing will bring the system back and my only option is to hold down the power button until the unit shuts down.
I checked the logs in the console and the error message that I see is:  mm/dd/yy 9:49:17.719 AM SmartLaunch[31448]: The SmartLaunch will be terminated.
Any clue where I should start looking?

That is a great idea to check the memory temperture.  Do they have built in temperture senors and then is there a terminal command to run to check that?  Also how do I change the speed of the fans, again a terminal command?
I was mistaken, I bought 4- 4GB memory modules, with heatsinks. (8GB were tooooo expensive)  It should be good memory but certainly I wonder as this never happened before the new memory was added, 5 or 6 weeks ago.
My memory config is:
2 - 1 GB (orginal whe n I got the sytem)
2 - 2 GB added 1 year ago from OWC
4 - 4 GB added 6 weeks ago from ??
Good suggetions about the hard drive.   I did add a new Seagate 3TB drive a year ago when I got this machine, and I use it for all my data stoage and tunes and pixs and only use the 250GB dirve of OS and apps.  I have not installed the OS and apps on the 3TB drive and that would be an easy thing to do.

  • Mac Pro goes to sleep and wont wake up

Any idea how to stop the Mac from freezing up when it goes into sleep mode?
First the screen saver comes on and then after a way it goes into hibernation and then can't be woken.
It use to wake but suddenly decided not to. Nothing's changed.

Well, as you can see from the long discussion on Creative Cow, the XD Cam issue is complicated and seems to be a hardware issue with Mac Pros. Disconnecting the fibre channel card seemed to have worked for one person. I haven't got one of those as far as I know! But then my crashes aren't as constant as his and seem connected, in my mind, with the odd way FC garbles the aspect ratios of Ex 1 footage, especially if mixed with filters and other codecs on the same time line... but some people swear it's the hardware not the soft that's the problem.
Anyway, I've had the hardware... RAM, Disk issues etc... all triple checked out and can't find a problem.
But still Finder takes six seconds to find anything and I think that has caused some crashes.
It doesn't seem to like Soundtrack Pro at all! (You can find a mixed bag of experiences on that issue as well.) And Motion works a little bit too jittery for my liking.
It might be that there are several different flavours of mother board, some not as geared up to this software as others. That's my theory at the moment. The only way to check is to stick my hard drives into the machine of someone who says they don't have any problems.

This is probably one of the files that is required by the template you are using.
These files are inside the iWeb app. Control click the iWeb app icon and select "Show package contents".
You need to dig down through the folders and files to find what you want...
    Contents/Resources/da.lproj/Templates/
If the file is missing you would need to re install the iWeb app...

Podcasts that I had subscribed to with my old computer are invisible in the iTunes store on my new computer. The error message says the podcast is not available in the US. Yet I could still download the podcast on my old computer before I switched. How can I fix this?

    Hello, ted_marx38.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The most common cause for this issue would be media present that is purchased with another Apple ID.  When prompted to authorize the computer it may show a different Apple ID.  If this is the case, the computer will need to be authorized for this Apple ID.  The article below will walk you through the process of verifying if that is the case or correcting the issue if not.
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

  • Keynote goes to sleep and a picture comes on the screen.

I use Keynote in the classroom and when I am going through the presentation Keynote goes to sleep a picture shows up on the screen instead of the presentation. How can I stop Keynote from disappearing and can I change the picture that shows up? I have changed my desktop picture and my screen saver pictures, but the old picture keeps showing up. Anyone else with this problem? Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums!
To stop Keynote from disappearing you should turn off your screensaver and make sure that the computer is set so that it never sleeps.

  • My hp deskjet 9362c will not print in black and white/error message says the printer mode is set at

can not get my hp deskjet 932c to print in black and white.  error message states print mode in auto, but I can't find the print mode to correct.  printer was printing in black and white or color automatically til last night, then in middle of document quit altogether.  new cartridges get the same results.

Check the paper type settings.  If this is set to "automatic" and the paper type is detected as photo paper then black only print is not available.  (The black pigmented ink is not compatible with photo paper.)  What is your operating system?

so please any one could help me so please reply on this thread
    thank you

THis are usually because the time out for opmn is reached and the log look like this. you need to do somethings, like remove KeepAlive and increse OC4J timeout.
In httpd.conf, increase "Timeout" value to, say, 600 seconds. (This should be smaller than the Firewall timeout setting, if any)
    Also set KeepAlive to off
    and Increase MaxClients
In mod_oc4j.conf (in the global section i.e before the <IfModule> tag) add the following ->
    Oc4jCacheSize 0
Oc4jConnTimeout 600 (This is again in seconds &, again, should be smaller than the Firewall timeout setting, if any)
    Run "dcmctl updateconfig -ct ohs"
    Run "opmnctl restartproc type=ohs"
Increase Java Heap Size for the OC4J instance as per the available memory(RAM) & restart the instance
(Update -Xms -Xmx java options for the OC4J instance for this, preferably through the EM Console)
Goto the Container Page>Admin tab>ServerProperties Link> and find the JVM size, you should restart.
Or by command line, stop opmnctl stopall services, edit opmn.xml and find below <data-id="start-parameters">, <data id=java-options" value="....-Xms1024M -Xms 512M../>
And then restart services, also you can try to add a new Process to the JVM in <process-set id="yourgroup" numporcs="2"/>
    Regards.

  • My iMac goes to sleep and does not wake up, the fans also make a loud noise

My iMac has just had its hardisk replaced, few months ago. Now whenever I go into any website, do downloads and when it goes into screensaver it makes a **** of a noise then when I leave it it does not go into sleep but shuts down. If I try and restart straight away it won't switch on I have to wait a while. I think it gets very hot and might be shutting down. I have cleaned the fans and reset the SMU and PRAM. Any other suggestions or do I need to replace the fans???????????????????

You certainly have a heat problem, since the machine needs to cool down before you can turn it back on. Have you opened the case (as long as it's not an iSight) and vacuumed the fans and air vents? If that doesn't help, you will probably need to take it in to be looked at. • I just updated my IPad to iOS 5 and now can not send email. The error message says the server rejects the address which is not true Asti sends on my desktop.

I just updated my iPad to iOS 5 and now can't send email- I have tried the obvious but no luck. Any suggestions?

Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.
If you'd be willing to get back to Thunderbird, say if your frustration level with your new app would increase too much, please see our article [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages cannot send messages] for further help.
In all other cases I'd appreciate it if you could mark this as answer so we know you don't need further help.

  • Garageband won't let me import a voice memo-The error message says the rights are protected.

I record voice memos on my iphone and then import the memos on my MacBook to edit in Garage Band.  Today I got a warning message that my voice memo can't be imported because it is rights protected.  Any ideas?
