Mac Pro Retina Screen Replacement Procedure

So I love my Mac Pro Retina but it has the ghosting issue, everything else is fine as far as I can tell with it, its had a few kernal panics but they have all been graphics related while Chrome was open, and only in Mac OSX, so I am assuming thats fine. I can play any game I want in Windows 7 with out trouble so thats a w/e.
I am past the 14 day mark for just turning it in for a new one, and I wouldn't want too anyway. So I was wondering how they handled pure screen replacements, if they do them there at the store, or if they have to ship it off. If anyone has any experience with this any info would be helpful.

I want to know what Apple has offered other people so I can go in and negotiate knowing what solutions they are offering. I have had Apple loose equipment for a period of time after being shiped of for repairs, so if they tell me its going to need to be shiped off, and someone here has had an instore replacement of the screen I would like to be able to point to that so I don't risk having my laptop lost in the ether again.
PS Apple actually handled it well by replacing the piece of equipment with the newest model, so the lost equipment ended well for me that time, but it was kind of a gaint pain in the butt.

    Mail window may be in the Full Screen mode.
    Move the mouse pointer to the top right corner of the Mail window and hold it there.
    Menu bar should drop down and click the blue double arrow icon.

    Yes, you could do it yourself cheaper, but it requires some expertise.  Even more importantly, it will invalidate your warranty if you still have one (i.e. it is less than 1 year old or you have the Applecare that adds another 2 years warranty) - so if anything else goes wrong, you are on your own!
    I'd probably bite the bullet with a machine so new and let Apple fix it.  And then be super careful in the future!

    When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.  
    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

    Hi I have just noticed a dead pixel on my mac pro retina. I bought the machiene in 2012 when they came out. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? Id rather have it replaced than fixed as I havent had it long. I have 3 years apple care. Do you think this is possible?

    I dont think 1 dead pixel will warrant a replacement.  Only way to find out is to make an appointment at your local Apple store or AASP and have it looked at.

    My wife's MAC PRO had this occur yesterday, here is how I solved the problem as the system was out of warrantee. System had the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT for the MAC.
    Symptom: System starts boot as normal, see the grey apple screen, just as the desktop screen is to start, the screen turn completely orange. Attempted several reboots, holding down the diagnostic keys, re-installed the video card after cleaning, all these actions resulted with the orange screen.
    Solution: Go to the Apple store and buy the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro - around $149 at time of posting. The card will work in a 2008 MAC PRO as long as you have upgraded to Requires Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later. Card has DVI and MINI Display port so I also purchased the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (you can find these online for less then the Apple adapters) to support my wife's second monitor.
    Replace the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 and system started right up with no issues.

    Sort of falls into the "common sense" though the GT120 cost and performance, I would have recommended the ATI 5770 for $100 more is all.
    What is annoying is Apple doesn't offer a 10.6.5+ DVD to boot from or a way to slipstream the ATI support drivers. Some Mac Pro (2009) can boot with 10.6.3 DVD with the ATI 5770 but in general you need 10.6.4-1/2 (the Mid-2010 build number).

    I'm looking into getting a Dual 3Ghz Mac Pro, but was wondering if there were still any "known issues" seeing as this is still the first release of a Xeon powered Mac. I'll be using it for Logic via a Focusrite Saffire for my band stuff. Is it worth waiting (for god knows when) for the next release or has this model been revised since it was launched in August? I'm getting 2x 23" HD displays with it, I've heard about the pinking problems but that should ok as I've heard the screens been revised...
    The only reason that I ask if its worth waiting for a newer model of the Mac Pro is because of STABILITY rather than being one of those "people" who's only concern is having the fastest processor god created...

    Hi, like you, stability was my top priority when upgrading - I do some scientific work on my Mac Pro and it replaced a rock-solid (yet not that powerful) Unix machine I was very funned of.
    Anyway, it seems like a very stable Hardware/Software combination for now (particularly after the 10.4.8 upgrade which solved a few glitches) and you could say its being abused beyond the wildest dreams of Apple engineers (24/7 multiple users and multi-platform network environment).
    The thing to check before really jumping in is software availability (in Universal – and stable releases) and its stability with your preferred Hardware configuration. Post your specifics for the forum and see if anyone is already there.
    All taken into account, I can’t and won’t guaranty anything but as far as my experience goes it’s a safe move.

    It is a hard one.. laptops with small drives are a pain.
    What you need is a home media server.
    Some people use a PC running itunes for cost.. but that is nothing like as good as using a Mac mini.. they make great little HTPC device.. you can plug in large hard disks and store all your files and media. And share it with the network.. Read up apple's instructions on home sharing.

    For cost you can buy a mini from 2011 or 2012.. I would not recommend earlier ones.. the advantage of 2012 is they have USB3 ports. But you will pay more for them.. new mini is not as useful.. they have soldered in memory and you cannot upgrade.. the old mini was the most easily modified mac in the whole range. Uses little power and can be bought for a $300US for a good one second hand.. maybe less.

    Could be you khave a corrupted Win 7 install file/files.
    Try downloading the Win 7 ISO for the version you have from here.

    Then burn that ISO to a USB or DVD, USB would be better.

    The entire enclosure is tuned for both external jack placement, EMI-RFI radiation, airflow, and for cooling. You need exactly the correct shell and fans for the electronics you wish to install in it.
