Mac pro wireless problem osx 10.9.4

Mac Pro n
Had wireless problem after 10.9.4 update.
Various things it may say: move router closer, or invalid password, or time out.
Tried all the solutions normally provided. Restarting, running this, doing the airport tests, more this and that, etc... no go bro! Searches returned similar problems but no real answers.
SO....
I changed router channel from 6 to 7, you can change yours to what ever channel you like, and restarted router.
In NETWORK preferences the wireless light was orange and not connected. Network connection shows my network though.
I then went into NETWORK > ASSIST ME > DIAGNOSTICS >The Network Status light for Wi-Fi was green but all others below it were red.
I then typed in the name of network connection and the password in the wifi settings and it said wrong password, I did it again and a drop down box said "network changes detected"
Wahoooo That is the ticket!
Then re-enter the Connection Name and Password and it should connect.
All the lights should now be green on the Network Status (ISP, Internet, etc)
Lucky Me!
Question is:
How do I manually get my connection back rather than hoping and praying the Mac Pro will finally detect something different and then allow the connection.

Try updating to 10.9.5. I had similar problems before updating.

So  I just bought a new Mac Pro, wireless keyboard and mouse. i am a first time Mac user. How do I even get started......connect the wireless mouse and key board to the Mac Pro desktop to even get started??

Just turn on the mouse and keyboard and observe that the green light comes on and starts to blink then turn on the Mac. The Mac should give you on-screen instructions.

  • Lacie Speakers and Mac Pro Firewire problem waking from sleep and loud feed

Lacie Speakers and Mac Pro Firewire problem waking from sleep and loud feedback. I had a powermac before this with the speakers and it worked fine. But the mac pro is having these issues. Is it the firewire port or the speakers or (and most likely) just a firmware glitch with mac pro? Anyone else see these issues?

Here is my audio settings. For some reason I wish I could remember what I did. It was actually the Apple Store tech in the Unversity Village in Seattle that gave me the idea and I swear I had to change the settings in MIDI setup. Now that Leopard is out it seems the MIDI stuff has been redone. I included screenshots of my MIDI setup as it is currently to see if you see something different on your computers. Let me know!

  • Mac Pro Fan Problem

Hi, I have been having some problems with a Mac Pro I have been working with. At the Start-up the Fan goes to top speed and once it logs-in the fan is still pretty loud. I've checking the Temperature of all the computer parts via a Temperature Diode, and its normal and not high. After searching the internet for hours looking for posts that were for the Mac Pro and not for the MacBook Pro (which comes up in about all the searches using the words Mac Pro Fan Problem) and I found some software all of which is not for Mac Pro's. Is there any application I can run do reduce the RPM of the Fans, Reset the Fan Speeds to only turn on when it get hot, or something along those lines.

Thats odd, seeing as Apple have it listed in the Support article:
To reset the SMC on a Mac Pro:
    1) From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
    2) Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    3) Wait at least fifteen seconds.
    4) Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time. Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
    5) Press the power button to start up your computer.
It does exactly the same thing as the SMC_RST button, simply by removing all power from the system. I would assume the reason for this would be that the SMC settings are stored in RAM, which is erased once the power is removed from the board, hence the minimum 15 secs wait which gives time for the capacitors in the power supply and system to discharge.
So yeah, it does do the trick, or has done for me in the past a few times.

  • Mac Pro (Late 2013) OSX abnormally slow

    Hi,
I'm not sure why but my OSX is running much slower then before, weird thing is I don't even install many softwares in it. Below is the description of the issues I'm facing.
Beach ball frenzy, lots of things ended up with beach balls from switching back and forth between apps (safari and cad). Within app itself, safari freezes occasionally and then whatever I click during that time period (like opening a new tab, links in the page) will suddenly open and this goes on with other apps as well, even finder takes a few seconds to show the content.
Start up time : 14.2 sec
Waiting for shut down menu to appear : 15 secs
Click shut down: forever (monitor goes to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity, but computer is not turned off)
Previously, whenever software update requires restart, os will just hang and give a grey screen error, this will cause my computer to be in a boot loop where turning off will show the same error as well. Only way I find out is to open in safe boot, apply update and all goes to normal but it seems the problem is not solved cause now my OS just doesn't work properly.
Oddly enough, I got no problem installing Yosemite.
I don't think it's hardware problem cause right now my windows 8 partition is running much faster then OSX. Oh the irony

  • Early 2008 Mac Pro Startup Problems.

    Hi all,
I have an  Early 2008 Mac Pro - 2x 2.8ghz Intel Xeon Quad Core processors, 12 gigs of Ram, 1x Nvidia 8800GT graphics card and I am running Windows Vista 64bit through bootcamp. I am running Snow Leopard. I have one monitor it is a Samsung 226bw - 22inch and it is connected via dvi and vga on the monitor side.
I have recently had my computer updated to the latest 10.65 (something like that).
Anyway my current problem is that:
a)The computer does not load up any operating systems and it is just a blank screen.
    b) Sometimes all you hear is the Apple loading Chime "doong" constantly, and a blank screen.
    c) Sometimes I can get to the windows selection screen for safe mode. I pick safe mode but it just goes to a blank screen. Also the monitor does not pick any signals up as it goes no source etc.
    What I have tried:
    a) I have changed the monitor cables 3 different ones.
    b) I have taken all the other hard drives out.
    c) I cannot get into Mac OSX or Windows Vista ( however Vista is the default OS right now)
    d) I can connect my main hdd and copy all my windows stuff, but I cannot see any of the apple osx.
My suspicions are it is graphics card,or hard drive related.
I have ordered a new graphics card a ATI Radeon 5770 ( wont come for 6days) and I have a new hard drive a WD Black Caviar 1tb.
    My Questions:
    a) I would like to know what your ideas are on my current situation and Mac Pro symptons.
    b) Is there a way I could format the WD Black Caviar HDD to a Mac Extended one in Windows on my laptop connected via sata?
    c) If "b" is possible could I then use my Mac Pro/Mac OSX or snow leopard discs to create a OSX for my Mac Pro?
    d) Or should I just wait for my graphics card to come and see if is just the Nvidia 8800gt failing?
    e) If it is not the graphics card then do you believe it is the hard drive? or could it be something else?
Any assistance would be kindly appreciated.
    KInd Regards
    Bobby

Vista on its own hard drive? Windows doesn't like to move the drive bay.
you could boot from Vista DVD (I'd upgrade to Windows 7 SP1 when possible)
    clone backups - for both
emergency boot drive / OS X DVD - you can, and should, always have more than one Mac OS boot volume handy.  So yes use 10.6 DVD
Preventative and disk maintenance (Disk Warrior etc)
You would need something like MacDrive8 or Paragon HFS8 to really have good access to HFS from Vista assuming the volume is safe to mount and access.

  • Unable to reconnect mac pro wirelessly to my Epson SX515W   printer?

    Epson printer SX515SW
    I had wireless connection
From a couple of months ago i am unable to reconnect it
Printer has wireless connection, when i try to print anything,, the computer says printer not connected , keep saying printer not connected
Please need your help badly as its making my printing miserable
    Thanks for your help

What vrsionof OS X are you running? If it is Mavericks, the newest OS X version, there seems to be many people running that version of OS X that are having problems connecting or staying connected to there printers.

  • Mac Pro has problems rendering and RAM previewing in Adobe AE

I've been using Adobe After Effects 7 and I have a 3g new Mac Pro. It's a great computer, really fast with Final Cut Studio Universal, etc. and when rendering sequences in FCP the program doesn't quit. BUT, when I'm trying to RAM preview or render a composition in Adobe After Effects the application will quit unexpectedly everytime. I found that it would only quit when the composition was over approx. 30seconds, but I've used an eMac that never had problems rendering much longer clips. The fact that the program quits after a certain amount of time makes me think it is an issue with RAM availability to the program, as in a conflict with the program, and the new intel-based Mac Pro. I've asked around on the Adobe website but there is no specific solution. Has anyone heard talk that the intel-based Macs or new OSX, are conflicting with Adobe applications, etc?

Mostly correct, Jim. Photoshop CS3 (UB) Beta is available for download and a time-limited license to CS2 license-holders. The time-limit is unspecified, but Adobe says it will end when CS3 is released.
All good reports the last time I checked on various fora.
(CS3 install does not overwrite CS2, so in case Adobe releases CS3 and pulls the plug on those time-limited CS3 Beta licenses, you'll still have CS2 to limp along with until you receive 3.)
CS2 seems to work fine on an Intel Mac, though slower because it's running in Rosetta. Heck, I'm using CS without difficulty, other than the slowness.
However, all that doesn't help the OP with AE, which isn't scheduled for a UB release until mid-2007, IIRC.

  • Is it possible to run apps concurrently in different "Users" on Mac Pro in latest OSX?

I wish to continuously monitor different folders in Dropbox for "input transactions" destined for my
applications on my Mac Pro, where each Dropbox folder represents different input types from different
sources. It would speed up the process significantly if my monitor program could run concurrently from
each of several defined "Users" on my Mac Pro with OSX.

Thank you for your response. Let me give you some more facts on my situation.
My monitor, running on a Mac Pro, reads folders owned by my clients, where the folders are shared
thru Dropbox with my service. So, yes, my monitor is "reading" different Dropbox member's folders looking for
"input" files to my service. My monitor is programmed (with a list) of the various clients' folders
names in which to search. Obviously, there is some number of clients (and folders) where the monitor
begins to take several seconds (too long) to scan and service, merely due to the sheer number of folders being
scanned. So, if I could create a second User on the Mac Pro, and run another (copy) of the monitor
programmed with another unique list of folders NOT being serviced by the monitor in the first
User, and (here's the problem) both monitors were running CONCURRENTLY, then the total number of
folders (and clients) being serviced could possibly almost double. Then, I could add a third User, then
a fourth, etc. to handle even more clients and folders.
The giant problem here is, each separate User does NOT run concurrently with the others, certainly where
all are logged in and "running". Actually, it appears OSX only executes programs within ONE user at a
time: the one in focus at the time. It so happens that OSX multitasks within that one User the differently-named
programs quite well; but OSX does not (continue to) execute anything in other Users, until another
User is manually switched to. Therefore, in my case, I can only run one monitor in one User at a time, thus ruining any benefit I might otherwise achieve IF OSX ran programs concurrently in multiple Users, another form of multitasking that apparently OSX is not designed to do. My monitors run with Excel VBA, which becomes the name of that program within
one User, so I am limited to running only 1 monitor per User. (Groups don't help.). On the other hand, It might help a little if
my monitor somehow could switch between OSX Users programmatically, rather than manually...I do not want
to sit at my Mac Pro constantly and manually fast-switching between Users to even attempt to solve my problem. Rather, I want
the software to run concurrently 24/7 unattended to successfully provide the service promised to all.
So, because there are lots of brilliant folks that know a lot about MACs and OSX, certainly more than me, I
am wondering IF someone knows how to get OSX to multitask across more than one User at a time, which
would solve my dilemma?? Maybe it's just not possible, I don't know...
Also, would OSX Server edition maybe be better suited to solve my problem? I know nothing about the Server's capability.
I would also hate to have to run Windows on my Mac Pro to solve this. Would VMware/Fusion work here?
Thank you again for taking the time to help...

  • Fed up of Macbook Pro wireless problems

I'm having lots of trouble with my Macbook Pro wireless and really don't know what to do with it.
My own router (3COM officeconnect) I cannot connect to at all no matter what I try - but I've given up hope on that anyways.
My current problem is that at a friends house with a Linksys 11g wifi router (forgot which one) I can connect to the wifi network (WEP128) but I cant browse the net! I can ping IP numbers directly, but I cannot ping names (such as www.google.com). I keep getting 'cannot resolve host'. strangely enough, after I reboot a number of times sometimes I CAN browse the net...
I'm currently at a hospital which is fully decked out with CISCO wifi access points (unsecured) everywhere, which my 5 year old HP can access no problems within seconds of booting up, my mobile phone can access without any configuration... but my state of the art macbook pro cannot. I have the same problem as the Linksys, I can connect to their network, I can ping IP addresses, but cant browse the web or ping names (and ive been rebooting and trying for about 8 hours now).
I took the MBP to an apple certified service place a whileback and they concluded the hardware was fine, cos I can connect to apple wifi points (which is all they care about). Ive never had any problems with wifi on windows, linux, PSP, symbian or Windows Mobile... but the MBP seems to be in a league of its own.
I'm hoping this is a configuration issue, but I dont know what I would need to configure, both the hp and mobile phone can connect without any configuration, so I would have expected the mbp to connect easily too. I havnt changed any settings on it.
It sounds like a DNS issue so I checked the DNS servers assigned to the mbp, and its the same as the whats on the hp(all assigned with DHCP). Just in case I tried putting in the DNS servers manually but still I get the same thing.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be much appreciated!
(On another note, I just logged in and I was asked to create a new account for these forums! dunno what happened but now Ive started from scratch! i had loads of posts, subscribtions etc.! all gone!)
    MBP C2D 3GB / MP 8core 8GB X1900 / Shuttle SN25P 3800+ 2GB GF7800GTX   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

"My current problem is that at a friends house with a Linksys 11g wifi router (forgot which one) I can connect to the wifi network (WEP128) but I cant browse the net!"
This is the exact same problem I'm having. The ONLY time I was able to connect to the internet w/ my MBP was at a cafe w/ a linksys connection, the first day I had the MBP. But now I can't even connect there. Although internet connect SAYS I'm connected to linksys and shows a strong signal, and my network diagnostics show that I'm connected, I can't browse the internet. I bought this partly to do video editing in Final Cut Pro (why I needed an MBP rather than the less expensive macbook) and partly so that I could work between classes, which is absolutely necessary for me. But I haven't been able to connect on my college campus despite the fact that no one else is having problems w/ their PCs or their macbooks. Everywhere I go with this thing, I'm the only one having problems (and I should mention that I happen to be the only person using an MBP in each place I've tested it...). I'm not sure what to do. I can't configure any routers or anything because I'm connecting in public places (at home I use a highspeed DSL connection w/ a PC), and there are no problems w/ the routers anyways, since everyone w/ older laptops is connecting just fine.
So far this is what I've done to try to fix it:
-Went over everything with Apple tech support, who said that all of my configurations were correct and that it was a problem with the 10.4.10 update. So I...
-Reinstalled my operating system to go back to 10.4.9. Still the same problem. So I...
    -Zapped the PRAM. Nothing.
-Did the Macbook Pro Update that came out yesterday. Nothing.
-Installed the latest security update. Nothing.
I should mention I've only had this laptop for about a week, haven't changed any settings (I'm new to Macs so I would be uncomfortable doing so, anyways), and haven't installed anything except for a trial version of the Mac FTP program Fetch (which was working fine the one time I was able to get connected). I guess I'm going to uninstall that and forfeit the rest of my trial period, but I really doubt that program is the problem.
Anyways, I'm really frustrated as well. I guess I'm going to try to download the program mentioned in this thread to clear my cache. I'll let you know if it works, by some miracle...

  • Windows 8.1 Pro on Mac pro resolution problem

I have created a partition for windows 8.1 pro on my 13' retina display mac pro via boot camp, everything is fine except the resolution, when i open the browser, i could see pixels, the words aren't very sharp, but this isn't my biggest problem, when i open the Solidworks software i'm working on, the icons are too small, or the texts are too big for their boxes. what is happening here? anyone knows what is all about, or how to fix this? changing the resolution of the display didn't solve the problem.

This is how the words look like in the browser page, you could see pixels. The maximum resolution for this machine is 2560*1600

  • Mac Pro 1.1, OSX 10.6.8, ATI 1900XT, Quartz Extreme - Not working

I am about to sell my computer and I wanted to check and make sure everything is working as it should. I have a Mac Pro 1,1 2x Intel 2.66ghz Dual Core, running OSX 10.6.8, ATI Radeon 1900XT.
Everything was working fine a few weeks ago. Now when I try to open just about any program, I get an error that says "This system does not meet the following minimum requirements: ie Final Cut Pro requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card."
I have always been able to run FCP and all the programs that are giving me this error. I don't know exactly when I updated to OSX10.6.8, but I am almost certain I have been able to run FCP with OSX 10.6.8, I was running it about three weeks ago and the only thing that I know of that is different is that I updated photoshop.
    I found this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/12728219#12728219
Which suggests doing the Snow Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1083
I tried running it, but it says it only works with 10.6.4. (I am on 10.6.8).
I also looked to see if Quartz is enabled in the system profiler, but it doesn't even show that option:
Does anyone know what could possibly be happening or causing this? Getting a new GPU is not really an option since I am selling the thing.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If your computer meets the minimum requirements, you can purchase and download OS X 10.7 'Lion' from the Mac App Store online. It is also available on a flash drive at about double the price of the download.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/
Specs, minimum hardware requirements, and upgrade paths for OS X 10.7 'Lion' are also listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html
Even though Lion runs in 2GB system RAM, 4GB or more is highly recommended.
Also be aware that Apple recently announced the next version of OS X, 10.8, called 'Mountain Lion', but no firm date for availability, other than 'coming this summer.'

Rebooted the machine, and after what seemed like a VERRRRRRY long time of gray screen with spinning gear icon, the screen goes black with a cursor in the upper left corner.
    About :30 later, text appears: "3Ghz-MacPro:/ I have no name!#" followed maybe ten seconds later by "SIOCPROTOATTACH_IN6: en0 error17" and "SIOCPROTOATTACH_IN6: en1 error17"
Screen clears back to cursor... then "3Ghz-MacPro:/ I have no name!#" reappears... and eventually the cycle starts again.
I would infer that en0 and en1 are the two ethernet ports.
I've popped the install disc in, booted to it (which took a while to do) and used Disk Utility to verify the disk. No problems found. Repaired it anyway.
Verified permissions, which found a couple of issues in the library with some files not essential to booting. Repaired those. Rebooted.
Same cycle as above with "no name."
Ran Apple Hardware test (the quick one) and it found no hardware problems.
Am waiting to see whether the AppleCare TechTool Deluxe will boot. Spinning gear continues as I write this (7-8 minutes??)... now wondering whether it's 10.4.x for Intel Macs as it spins.
After waiting a while... decided to go back to the install disk and see whether I can install 10.4.7 to a handy FireWire drive and boot from that...
then remove (or turn off with FontBook) all the fonts I just installed and see whether it'll boot from the internal.
More later. Am watching e-mail on another machine so feel free to offer suggestions.
    Thanks
    Ted.
    3GHz Mac Pro-1GHz eMac-G3 400MHz Lombard   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I installed 10.4.7 onto the RAID so I could see whether it would boot OK, and to swap font folders out so that only the OS installed ones (from the RAID install) were present on the boot's original install.
Booted from the RAID just fine... and was able to do the font folder swap in the main font and user font folders.
Trying to then boot from the boot disk didn't make a difference. Same kernel panic with the text as described before.
Did an "archive and install" onto the boot disk and it came up fine on the fresh OS.
Updated QT and then the OS to 10.4.8 using Software Update (which I understand from the Apple info site is the "delta" version. Combo is also available, and it updates any 10.4.x version to 10.4.8)
Moved over some items in various library folders from the previous system to make the ProApps happy (only Motion's not working) and will get a project out the door today.
Will ultimately wipe the drive and go from scratch on the OS and Apps again.
Looking forward to half a day of intimacy with my Mac Pro and software disks this weekend.
    Thanks.
Would still like to know what happened under the hood to cause the problem in the first place... so I can avoid doing anything I might have done to cause the problem... or to avoid other snafus.
    Ted

  • Mac Pro Boot Problems. Kona 3?

I'm having booting problems with a Mac Pro. It's got a kona 3 card in one of the PCI slots, and we've been tinkering with it to try to get the audio to work right. However, I've been having huge problems whenever I try to restart the computer. After hitting the power button, or telling it to restart the screen goes to black and sometimes I hear a chime. However, the computer does not boot any further. Then, after holding the power button down and restarting the computer, I can sometimes get the computer to boot normally.
I suspect the Kona card is causing some of the problems. I have multiple hard drives on the system, and I have the ability to boot onto two separate drives in 10.5.8. Both drives are having the same problems.
it's a 2x2.8ghz quad-core Intel Xeon with 10gb of ram. The Kona card is in slot 2. Slot 3 has also been tried, but similar problems remained.

removed kona card. uninstalled aja programs. restart problems still persisting.

  • Mac Pro Boot Problems After 10.6.2 Update

After installing the latest version of snow leopard I am now having boot problems on my mac pro.
    Symptoms;
-Screen resolution is incorrect at apple splash screen.
-Takes a lot longer than usual to boot.
-Once booted the blue tooth magic mouse isn't imediately reckonised, takes a while to find that.
-Once the mouse is finally reckonised it can move around but can't click on anything or bring up the dock. Tried a wired mouse, had the same problem.
-The keyboard is also not appearing to do anything, none of the shortcuts or quick keys work..
Had exactly the same problem after 3 restarts but on the 4th after leaving it for a good 20-30minutes it setled down and everything was working okay. However this is a recurring problem as I had the same thing yesterday...
I have a my 10.5.8 system backed up on an external so I am running from that at the moment. Don't want to go back to snowy til these problems are solved.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Martin

Try Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
    Let us know.
