Mac Pro Wireless

Howdy,
I bought my Mac Pro in march 2007 (to give you an idea of the age). I have been running the internet through an airport base station so that my wife has wireless for her macbook, and my mac pro was just hardlined into the airport base station. Now we have moved and I now have to have the base station in a different room as my computer. I once thought that apple had a wireless card you could install on in the mac pro to make it wireless. I am now reading that apples wireless card doesnt work with the mac pro... is this true and does anyone have a suggestion... thx

Amazingly enough Kappy is right and you are wrong on this.
OP: Try this - USB 802.11 for macs
https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/MXP802NU2C/
And it is $50 and works vs. $60 that won't.

So  I just bought a new Mac Pro, wireless keyboard and mouse. i am a first time Mac user. How do I even get started......connect the wireless mouse and key board to the Mac Pro desktop to even get started??

Just turn on the mouse and keyboard and observe that the green light comes on and starts to blink then turn on the Mac. The Mac should give you on-screen instructions.

What vrsionof OS X are you running? If it is Mavericks, the newest OS X version, there seems to be many people running that version of OS X that are having problems connecting or staying connected to there printers.

  • Mac pro wireless problem osx 10.9.4

    Mac Pro n
Had wireless problem after 10.9.4 update.
Various things it may say: move router closer, or invalid password, or time out.
Tried all the solutions normally provided. Restarting, running this, doing the airport tests, more this and that, etc... no go bro! Searches returned similar problems but no real answers.
    SO....
I changed router channel from 6 to 7, you can change yours to what ever channel you like, and restarted router.
In NETWORK preferences the wireless light was orange and not connected. Network connection shows my network though.
I then went into NETWORK > ASSIST ME > DIAGNOSTICS >The Network Status light for Wi-Fi was green but all others below it were red.
I then typed in the name of network connection and the password in the wifi settings and it said wrong password, I did it again and a drop down box said "network changes detected"
    Wahoooo That is the ticket!
Then re-enter the Connection Name and Password and it should connect.
All the lights should now be green on the Network Status (ISP, Internet, etc)
    Lucky Me!
    Question is:
How do I manually get my connection back rather than hoping and praying the Mac Pro will finally detect something different and then allow the connection.

Try updating to 10.9.5. I had similar problems before updating.

  • Unable to connect C4780 with Mac Pro wirelessly

When i tried to conner Printer C4780 wirelessly to Mac pro it says that the  selected printer software isn't from the manufacturer and may not let you use all the features of your printer. The software that i installed is one which i received when in brought printer in PC World in UK. It does connect with USB but not wireless.

Hi @Krish1840 , and thanks for the reply!
Do the pages come out blank when making a copy as well?
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend readding the printer via OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac
Good luck and please let me know how it goes!

  • Can I use a usb and wireless keyboard at the same time on a mac pro

I wish to use the Mac Pro USB keyboard for Logic shortcuts and the Mac Pro wireless keyboard for normal typing etc. Is this possible?

Just as Matt has said, the Mac uses "all devices active" philosophy with keyboards and pointing devices. It does not automatically Switch to a later-installed device, it uses them ALL at the same time by default.

  • Looking to get a Mac Pro Refurb, How can I get the Airport card too?

I can't find an airport card available anywhere for the Mac Pro. The refurbs do not look like they come with one. I can't find it from apple or anyone else.
What's the deal, and what can be done?
    Thanks a lot,

You can take it into an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or search on-line for places which offer the card.
    One site is Fastmac.com.

  • Wh does the internet connection keep dropping on my macbook pro and mac pro

I have a Mac pro, Macbook Pro and iphone. All have problems with the internet connection especially after any short period of in activity. My mac Pro is connected directly with an ethernet cable and the mac pro wireless. I have to go through system preferences network setup all the time to reconect. Soemtimes whn on email choosing take all accounts online does cause a reconnect but only after a minute or so wait.

Done that.. many times... also did a lot of suggestions from other posts.. removing pls files etc.. nothing works and it seems to be something experienced by other.. mysstery is it happens on all 5 computers in the office.. my isp has no suggestions... the pro can loose connection and the macbook wifi is OK and the phone usually works OK but leave my Macpro for 5 minutes and `I need to reconnct using system preferneces...

  • I dont have internet via landline, but via a dongle on mac pro, can airport extreme be used to stream music from my mac pro to sound system?

What is the best apple product for me to wireless connect my apple mac pro (wireless internet connection) to printer, itunes to sound systems etc? I do not have landline internet connection.

    UPDATE:
I have been stress testing StreamToMe in the house and  "out in the wild" and it is working very well.  There are one or two clunky steps in order to switch from the in-my-house wifi to the cellular network but it's just better (to me) than uploading about 750 GB of music that is restricted by iTunes rules and limitations to "the cloud".   The major advantage is that this solution plays more file formats than iTunes will.  In addition, I can access music files anywhere on my mac - even if they are not in my iTunes library. Playlists from iTunes are available, too.
I am not associated with this company in any way.  I am astounded that there are not more solutions available and that there are not more people discussing this issue.  Subscription models like Spotify are great and the cloud is fine for those that don't have large libraries  But when I have a humongous library and I don't want to move it around up and down to someone else's server or pay to access it after I have already paid for it I find the lack of ease of doing this baffling.
I hope that this info can help someone looking for information relating to this type of solution...
    Pete D.

  • Mac Pro - can I install the Airport Extreme card myself

Or do I need to have the store do it? I have a Mac Pro 2.66 tower and want to get wireless internet.

  • Mac Pro - Westmere - 144mbps Max?

Hi guys, I recently got one of the new Westmere Mac Pro's. I've just set it to connect to my N network (to which my Macbook Pro connects to at 300Mbps) but Network Utility reports that the Mac Pro is only getting 144Mpbs? Why is this?
    Thanks!

My Nehalem 2010 Mac Pro has the same problem, but reboots don't fix it
It stays on 144 Mbps, while other Mac connect at 300 Mbps.
Wireless is very intermittent, sometimes high throughput, sometimes low.

  • TS3048 My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work).  "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.
