Mac Pro won't be put to sleep
Hi,
My mid 2010 mac pro refuses to sleep. It may be to do with some universal audio drivers installed with a recent hardware interface I've added, but maybe not.
I'm running 10.6.8 on a 2x 2.4 GHz Quad core Intel xeon with 32 GB RAM.
Whilst I don't know how to use terminal very well, after reviewing similar queries I typed the following string in terminal;
kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
And got this response;
com.uaudio.driver.UAD2System(6.3.1)
com.uaudio.driver.UAFWAudio(4.0.0
com.digidesign.iokit.DigiDal(9.0.6f4)

Can anyone please help me with this?
Thanks
Can you tell us a little more about the recent installation? What is it exactly and are things compatible with 10.6?
Here's my sleep faq.
This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
Here is Apple's KB article HT1776 with their tips.
Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to receive faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file. If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Receive Faxes On This Computer box.
If that doesn't work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password). If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.
Some have resolved sleep issues by downloading the Combo update, from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse,Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try
USER TIPS……..
Check in System Preferences > Energy Saver is "Wake for network access" checked? If so, uncheck it.
One user reported, " I couldn't make my macbook pro to go to sleep because I had my wireless headphone receiver still plugged in. I unplugged it and then it went to sleep."
Also, if you have an External Western Digital (WD) hard drive and have installed WDDMService and WDSmartWareD on your Mac, it may not sleep. Fix is to un-install those....you don't need them to use the drive.
"I have had this problem with my IMac G5. It is surprisingly irritating. LaCie's Silverkeeper backup software was the cause. By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"
One provided this link, xlr8yourmac.com, to a member, which addresses failure of deep sleep with some users that updated and added new FireWire and USB card.
Also, here is Apple KB article TA2469 about PCI cards and sleep.
After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute. After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
"I have a Canon printer(shared) and my imac would not sleep. I opened up printer/fax in system prefs and noticed it said the printer was in use when it was off. Opened up the printer queue and noticed about 7 pending documents. Deleted them all and now it sleeps. Check the printer queue!"
One user has had success, after trying all these tips, using an App. called PleaseSleep. I've never used it though.
Good Luck! DALE

Mac Pro won't wake from prolonged sleep in Mountain Lion
My Mac Pro won't wake from sleep after it is in sleep mode for several hours at a time. It will wake if the sleep period is short. But if it sleeps overnight it will not wake the next morning. Nothing seems to work. It requires a hard restart. I am running OS X 10.8.2. I read in another site that this problem was fixed for Macbook Air and Macbook Pro by turning off hibernate mode in Terminal. But I doubt this would help with my Mac Pro.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks.

Newest 8-core Mac Pro won't always wake from sleep.
Recently I have been experiencing my Mac Pro not always waking up from sleep. It is a 2.4 Ghz 8-Core running Snow Leopard. I am using a USB keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse. I am noticing that it is becoming more frequent and it's starting to worry me with how expensive this computer is. If I had to guess, I would guess that it happens more often after long sleep durations. The only way to get it to turn on is by holding down the power to turn it off and then doing a reset. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Chad GHey Guys,
I was able to go a solid 19 days without having the issue occur. This is what came up today:

Mac Pro won't wake up from sleep
I've read a lot of posts about sleep issues, but I seem to be having the opposite problem. When my MP goes to sleep, sometimes it won't wake up. It doesn't seem to matter if it goes to sleep because its idle or if I manually put it to sleep. I had updated to 10.5.7 using the combo update, but did an archive reinstall back to 10.5.4 because it started having sleep issues and because a program I use frequently wouldn't run after the update. I have verified my permissions and had nothing to repair. When it doesn't wake up I have to reboot holding down the power key. Any one else having this problem?
And this was after you reformatted the Raptor and insured partition table option was set to GUID instead of the older APT, something which is known to be a problem.
G5 compatible Raptors up until the Quad-core were the oldest model, not even native SATA, and of course, no match for today's 7.2k drives (let alone later Raptors or current VR model).
If after reformat of partition tables, then likely an issue with the drive's old out of data PATA interface (like older Maxtor drives had also) or drive firmware, and use of TCQ and lack of support for NCQ and native SATA features. -
My Mac Pro won't stay in sleep mode. keeps waking itself up. Anyone Suggestions to solve this problem?

Wife uses the macbookpro mostly with her iphone. However, they are my photos on my phone, and all computers are mine, so why in any case because I have synced with another computer with also uses another iphone, that my personal mac pro won't acknowledge the photos that originated from my phone. Photos shouldn't be subject to copyright like music purchases. If I decide to share my photos with another mac (which also happens to be my macbookpro that my wife uses), there shouldn't be anything applied to the photos I've taken with my personal iphone once it is plugged into my other mac. They're my photos regardless and originated from my iphone, so my mac pro should never block these photos from me in iphoto.
Summary:
I go on vacation with my macbookpro.
I take photos with my iphone. I put them in my macbookpro while on vacation.
I get home. I try to put the photos on my macpro. Not only am I not allowed, I can't even see the photos in iphone via my plugged in iphone. They are hidden when plugged into my macpro.
Why don't I have access to MY OWN PHOTOS when I have spent well over 50,000 dollars in Apple products?
To fix this I had to export the photos from the macbookpro to a USB and manually add them to my mac pro. Alternatively I could plug in my iphone to my windows computer and access all the files via a folder search.Another way to look at this which imo also applies.
I go on vacation with friend. I take photos with my iphone. I sync some of the photos to his iphoto on his macbook. I get home.
I can no longer see those photos, which I took, using my own iphoto sync on my mac. They don't show up anywhere with preview or image capture (remembered name). Just because I gave my friend some of my photos, doesn't mean a lock should be applied that doesn't allow me to sync those photos via iphoto on my own mac. Doesn't this make sense? Why is this happening? -
Mac Pro won't network after 10.5.8 combo update
I just ran the 10.5.8 combo updater and since then my Mac Pro won't connect to my home network. It accesses the internet just fine, but I cannot connect wirelessly to my Macbook or my wifi printer anymore. My Macbook which is still on 10.4.11 can connect to the wifi printer and the internet, but cannot connect to my Mac Pro anymore. I've seen posts about pulling ktxt files out of the 10.5.7 updater, but that doesn't seem to address my issue. Any ideas? Thanks

Mac pro won't restart after replacing backplane
Mac pro won't restart after replacing backplane. I tried resetting PRAM, no luck. The grey screen with apple logo and spinning wheel shows up and the wheel continues to spin.
What did you modify 'under the hood'?

Mac pro won't read windows 7 install disc?
My 2007 mac pro won't read windows 7 install disc. My macbook reads the disc fine, so it is not a problem with the disc. It is 32-bit. The apple help line suggested firewire connecting the macbook to the macpro and starting the macbook in target disc mode, but other posts I have read have said that this will not solve the issue. Any suggestions?
Could be. I just rebooted and it read the disc. Unfortunately the windows install got interrupted and I had to reboot, and now it wont read the disc again. Is there any other way to install windows 7 to bootcamp, other than from the disc? Can I use FireWire and target disc my MacBook (the MacBook reads the disc just fine)?

I cannot turn on my Mac Pro anymore. It was in sleep mode - monitors only, not HD - and didn't wake up when I pressed a key on the keyboard. So I pushed the power button until the LED went out and then pushed it again to turn on the machine.
The LEDs on the memory banks lit up for a fraction of a second, much shorter than they normally do. A brief whistle sound came on. The UPS display indicated a power draw of 9 Watts, then 8,7,6 and so on until it hit 0. Pressing the power button again didn't do anything. When I removed the power cord and reconnected it again, pressing the power button resulted in the same as above.
This seems to point to the power supply, doesn't it?Are you saying
You drained your UPS
You leave the side panel off when running or booting
Hope the UPS is 1200-1500VA
A Mac Pro with power cable disconnected (and any others probably) and press power on button for 10 seconds resets the SMC. But should be used only limited fashion.

My Mac Pro won't connect to Wifi?
My Mac Pro won't connect to the Wifi that it has been for the past 2+ years. All other devices in our home that use the same Wifi are working just fine.
Tried doing Network Diagnostics multiple times, did not work. Keeps saying it can't connect or times out.
What color was the light pertaining to Wifi in the left column? Red, Green, or Yellowish/Orange?
Some of the following you may have already tried:
Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.
System Preferences>Network
Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Mac Pro won't recognize ethernet connection
My Mac Pro won't recognize the Ethernet cable when it's plugged in. I know the cable and connection are good because my MacBook Pro recognizes it with no problem. I've had it for around a year, but have always used the airport to connect to the internet. It has two Ethernet ports on the back and I've tried both. Is there anything I need to do to configure the NIC card?
Thanks in advance!
RyanNo, but you do need to configure the Ethernet port in Network preferences. Open Network preferences and select the Ethernet port. Click on the Advanced button then on the TCP/IP tab. Set the Configure IPv4 drop down menu to DHCP. Set the Configure IPv6 drop down menu to Off. Click on the Apply button. If all is well you should see a valid IP address in the network settings for the port. If you see an IP address starting with 169., then it means your Ethernet port is not getting an IP address from your router. You should have an Ethernet cable connected from the Ethernet port on the computer to one of the LAN ports on your router.

Start Up hangs - My Mac Pro won't turn on
After upgrading, my Mac Pro won't start up. Does any one else have this problem... I can't get my Mac to start up... HELP!
More information on what the 'upgrade' was and which MacPro would be helpful. With that said -
If it worked before the upgrade and does not work now, the first thing I would do is think about what changes were made. If hardware, is/are the component(s) installed the proper ones, designed for Macs and for you Mac? If satisfied with the components being the right ones, I would look at the installation process. Is everything seated properly and in the correct location? Are any power cables connected? Were ESD protocols followed? Next I would run the Hardware Test included on the Installation Disk. Reporting those results here may help. (Note: this may not find a video card problem). -
Mac Pro won't start. It turns on and than a blank, white screen appears. What do I do?
This could be a software/state problem or a hardware problem. Here are steps to resolve the former.
