Mac Pro won't connect to Ethernet

My Mac Pro will not connect to the internet, but it connects to Wifi via my comcast modem.
the modem was switched out today, but I couldn't connect before that - which is why they came and replaced my modem.
The lights in the Diagnostics window say:
Ethernet: connected
Wifi: connected
ISP: Fail
Internet: Fail
Server: Fail
Any ideas?

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
From the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, reboot as usual and post the results.

My Mac Pro won't connect to Wifi?

My Mac Pro won't connect to the Wifi that it has been for the past 2+ years. All other devices in our home that use the same Wifi are working just fine.

Tried doing Network Diagnostics multiple times, did not work. Keeps saying it can't connect or times out.
What color was the light pertaining to Wifi in the left column? Red, Green, or Yellowish/Orange?

Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.
System Preferences>Network
Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Mac Pro won't connect to 5510 e printer

I am having connection problems with one of my printers. My iMac will connect with my printers (a HP Photosmart 5510e and Photosmart 7280) wirelessly with no problem. My 13 inch (2009) MacBook Pro will also connect to the 7280 wirelessly but will not connect to the HP Photosmart 5510e. I have recently had to reboot my MacBook and it reconnected to one printer with no problems. I cannot locate the driver for either printer so I am not sure if the 5510 's failed to reload when I carried out the reboot. Any suggestions as to what I should have done/do to recover the situation?

Mac Pro won't connect to Airport but G4 Titanium has no problem

My Mac Pro has trouble finding the Airport(N) base station, it is connected to my Virgin Media Cable modem.
Airport Utility intermittently sees the base station but drops out with the messsage "Airport Utility can't find basestation but the airport indicator shows full wireless connectivity.
When the Mac Pro connects to the basestation, internet is extremely slow.
However, I have a G4 Titanium with 10.4.11 which has no problems connecting and surfing.
I have fully updated to latest software and firmware. Could this be a software conflict on my Mac Pro. Can anyone help?

I get this error sometimes. Can you click on "Connect As" right under the error, and then provide the name and password? This usually resolves the issue for me.

New Mac Pros won't connect to the first startup volume

I have five new Mac Pros running 10.4.8; I set a couple network volumes as startup items which has always worked fine before. But on these new machines, no matter what the first startup volume is, it gives me this error:
Connection failed
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
Then goes on to connec to the next volume fine. We have a Win2K Server and a Win2003 Server, and it acts the same way with both of them. It seems like something on the Mac must be timing out too fast. I have checked the logs and they don't help me at all. I have repaired permissions, run FSCK, done all the periodic maintenance and safe-booted but none of it has helped. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks!

Mac Pro won't connect to macbook through Airport

Ok so here's the deal. I have a Mac Pro, a Macbook, and an Air Port. I want to access the files on my Macbook with my Mac Pro through the wireless network. However, every time I click on the Macbook in order to connect to it it it says Connection Failed. Both computers are running on 10.5.7, both computers have file sharing turned on and the privileges set to read and write. I can connect to the Mac Pro with the Macbook but not the other way around for some reason.
Any suggestions?

Mac Pro won't connect to "n" network.

I realised my new iPhone would be slowing my potentially 802.11n-speed wi-fi network so disconnected it. To make sure my MacBook Pro and MacPro were connected at 'n' speed, I opened AirPort Utility and set my 500GB Time Capsule to "802.11n only (5GHz)". To my dismay, the Mac Pro no longer saw the network, while the MacBook Pro connected fine. I reset the Time Capsule to "802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)" and the Mac Pro again saw the network and connected. Given that this page: http://www.apple.com/wifi/80211/ says that 802.11n delivers "greater performance, more range, and improved reliability", I can't make any sense of the Mac Pro's behaviour.
System profiler reports the Mac Pro's Wireless Card Type as "AirPort Extreme (0x14e4, 0x88)".
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

I just moved my Time Capsule and tried this all again and it reminded me that I'd forgotten something: after changing the Time Capsule to "802.11n only (5GHz)", the Mac Pro does see the network, but when I select it, it asks me for the network password - this is stored in the keychain and the Mac Pro usually connects without asking - and, when I enter the password and okay the dialogue, it sits for a few seconds and then reports that the connection request timed out. *From then on* it no longer sees the network at all as described in my first post. This sequence of events has happened twice now.

Mac Pro won't connect to network printers

I have two HP printers, Color LaserJet 3700n and LaserJet 4100n. I have been using IP printing because, apparently, AppleTalk printing is no longer supported. For some reason the Mac now dosen't reconize the printers on the network, Ethernet connected to the Internet with a cable modem. The setup has not changed, but HP software was updated just before this happened. I also noted the the previous printer's IP Address has changed.

If everything is over Ethernet, you should have a setup on your Mac that looks something like this:
For "subnet Mask": everything with 255 in that position is significant, everything with zero is "don't care". So MY subnet is all 192.168.0.xxx devices.
The reason my IP Address is so high is that I have the Printers at the bottom, at 192.168.0.17 and 192.168.0.18, assigned manually, and I told the Router to pass out DHCP numbers at 192.168.0.150.
If your printers are set to 10.0.1.4 numbers, they are not on the same subnet, and are not reachable directly. If you reset the printers, they should get new DHCP Addresses from your Router. Then you could enter their new Address in a Browser, and they will send you web pages about their configuration, similar to the way you can configure your Router by typing 192.168.0.1 in a Browser window.

Mac Pro won't recognize ethernet connection

My Mac Pro won't recognize the Ethernet cable when it's plugged in. I know the cable and connection are good because my MacBook Pro recognizes it with no problem. I've had it for around a year, but have always used the airport to connect to the internet. It has two Ethernet ports on the back and I've tried both. Is there anything I need to do to configure the NIC card?

No, but you do need to configure the Ethernet port in Network preferences. Open Network preferences and select the Ethernet port. Click on the Advanced button then on the TCP/IP tab. Set the Configure IPv4 drop down menu to DHCP. Set the Configure IPv6 drop down menu to Off. Click on the Apply button. If all is well you should see a valid IP address in the network settings for the port. If you see an IP address starting with 169., then it means your Ethernet port is not getting an IP address from your router. You should have an Ethernet cable connected from the Ethernet port on the computer to one of the LAN ports on your router.

Mac Pro won't network after 10.5.8 combo update

I just ran the 10.5.8 combo updater and since then my Mac Pro won't connect to my home network. It accesses the internet just fine, but I cannot connect wirelessly to my Macbook or my wifi printer anymore. My Macbook which is still on 10.4.11 can connect to the wifi printer and the internet, but cannot connect to my Mac Pro anymore. I've seen posts about pulling ktxt files out of the 10.5.7 updater, but that doesn't seem to address my issue. Any ideas? Thanks

My MacBook Pro won't connect to the Internet. My iPhone has no problem doing so, and neither does my PC. I think it's something to do with my DNS, but I'm not sure. My network connections say that both my Ethernet or FireWire are failed. What's wrong with my MacBook? Is there a simple way to fix this?

Thanks. We have been using an existing Time Machine for wifi. Cable modem replaced DSL router and was hooked up to Time Machine. What's odd is that 3 computers and iPad2 are connecting to home wifi just fine, using exact same network and password as before. My Mac book pro and an older iPad are not. IPhones are also connecting to home wifi just fine. I managed to get my Mac book pro hooked one time by copying ip address from a Mac that was working (entered manually) then turning that one off. That's not what I need.
The error message is "no ip address".

Mac pro won't read windows 7 install disc?

My 2007 mac pro won't read windows 7 install disc. My macbook reads the disc fine, so it is not a problem with the disc. It is 32-bit. The apple help line suggested firewire connecting the macbook to the macpro and starting the macbook in target disc mode, but other posts I have read have said that this will not solve the issue. Any suggestions?

Could be. I just rebooted and it read the disc. Unfortunately the windows install got interrupted and I had to reboot, and now it wont read the disc again. Is there any other way to install windows 7 to bootcamp, other than from the disc? Can I use FireWire and target disc my MacBook (the MacBook reads the disc just fine)?

Macbook Pro won't connect to WIFI

Help! My new Macbook Pro won't connect to my home's existing WIFI network. The other computers (PCs) are running on it without a problem but when I try to join the network it rejects my password as being incorrect, though it definitely is the right one!

Check to make sure the Caps Lock is off.
What type of wireless security are you using? If it's WEP Mac's don't do WEP anymore and you will need to change it to WPA or WPA2.
