Mac RDP fails to connect to Local machine running 8.1

I know this has been asked many times, but so far I haven't seen a solution.
I'm running Microsoft Remote Desktop from the App Store, so the current version. When I try to connect to my Win 8.1 machine I get the following error:
"Unable to connect to remote PC. Please verify Remote Desktop is enabled, the remote PC is turned on and available on the network, and then try again."
Obviously I have checked all these conditions.
when I open a virtual machine on my Mac, running Windows 8.1, i can use RDC from there to connect successfully, albeit with an error regarding certification, which I was able to override. No such override seems available in the
Mac client.
Obviously, this solutions is far from ideal, as the whole point was to run the headless machine remotely, and do away with the virtual machine using my Mac resources.
Thanks

Hi,
Are you using Gateway in your environment?
Are you trying to connect with IP address or Hostname?
Please check the firewall port, network and other related setting for proper connection. You can try to use URI scheme to connect for MRD MAC and verify the result.

Hope it helps!
Thanks.

    I am facing below problem.
    ASMCMD-08103: failed to connect to ASM; ASMCMD running in non-connected mode
    ASMCMD-08102: no connection to ASM; command requires ASM to run
    Probable reasons are:
    1. ORACLE_SID is not set properly
    2. ASM instance is not running.
    But my ORACLE_SID is set properly and ASM instance is also running...
    What else i can check?
    Thanks,

  • Apex link not able to connect from local machine.

    Hi,
    Here is the scenario.
    I have installed oracle apex 3.2 in my vmware linux machine.
    I'm able to connect the link (http://b03apex.domain.com) from my linux(vmware) box but I'm not able to connect from windows local machine.
    I tried to ping the ip, from both the ends are working but not sure why I'm not able to connect from windows local machine.
    local windows ip: 192.168.1.2
    vmware Linux ip address : 192.168.1.3
    Do I need to do add any parameters in the Apache logs to connect from windows local machine.?
    Need your suggestion.
    Thanks, Muhammed.

    Can you ping the VM hostname from your Windows console (instead of IP address)?
    Have you tried in your Windows browser the following URL (using IP address of the VM instead of the hostname)?
    http://192.168.1.3/
    Have you checked that your browser is not configured to use a proxy server?
    Have you checked your Windows firewall for allowing tcp web traffic to the virtual machine?
    Have you checked for the same on on the virtual machine (firewall will be likely be done using <i>iptables</i>).

  • Why does my mac say "failed to connect to the device" when I try to print through airport express?

    So a little back ground.  I have a unibody 2 ghz core 2 duo running 10.5.8 and a mac book air running 10.7.5.  I set a airport express and added a new printer to both computers using bonjour.  My mac air has no problem connecting and printing but my unibody does.  The "failed to connect to device" message come up after I open print que for that printer and then utility.  It unibody sees the printer through bonjour and installs the printer but when asked to connect, nothing happens.  can anyone help please?

    If you updated from a previous version of OS X to 10.9 and had an older version of driver installed, then you can get this message. Sometimes a quick fix is to reset the printing system. Note that this action will remove all devices from the Printers & Scanners preference pane, but not the supporting drivers, so if you do have other printers or scanners on this Mac you will have to add them again.

  • Cannot connect to local machine to or from my wireless machine

    I have an AEBS and three Macs. Two are connected through ethernet and one wireless. The two that are connected via ethernet can VNC/AFP just fine. However, The one that is connected wirelessly cannot see anything on my network. either AFP or VNC. It can see the internet just fine. How do I configure my network to allow my wirelss maching to connect via VNC or AFP?
    Thanks

    Have you manually changed the DNS settings on your laptop at any point?  Unless you have a good reason to do otherwise, it should normally be set to "Obtain DNS server address automatically".  This setting is buried deep in the network options on Windows.
    Some parental control systems will detect attempts to use 3rd-party DNS servers, and will block them.  This is because switching DNS servers could be used to bypass the parental controls.  i can imagine that most libraries would have something installed to prevent people looking at "dodgy" web sites while in the library.

  • How do you get values of local machine running applet on remote server?

    Hi,
    I have an applet that runs great running the html file on my local machine from a root directory. I've placed my code(java, class, and html files) on the web server and loaded the applet onto a page. The results are merely:
    "Computer Name: localhost"
    "IP Address : 127.0.0.1"
    Instead of:
    "Computer Name: ACTUALNAME"
    "IP Address : 189.40.20.211"
    etc...
    The code is as follows:
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.net.InetAddress;
    public class IPFinder extends Applet {
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    super.paint(g);
    try {
    InetAddress localaddr = InetAddress.getLocalHost () ;
    g.drawString("Computer Name: " + localaddr.getHostName (), 2, 13);
    g.drawString("IP Address : "+localaddr.getHostAddress (), 3, 25);
    g.drawString("", 3, 45);
    String str = localaddr.getHostName();
    InetAddress[] localaddrs = InetAddress.getAllByName ( str ) ;
    for ( int i=0 ; i<localaddrs.length ; i++ )
    if ( ! localaddrs[ i ].equals( localaddr ) )
    // g.drawString("Local hostname : " + localaddrs[ i].getHostName () , 3, (i+0)+50);
    g.drawString("Local IP Address("+i+"): " + localaddrs[ i].getHostAddress () , 3, (12*i)+((i+10)+45));
         }} } catch (Exception e) {
    g.drawString("Can't detect localhost : " + e +". Check Network settings.", 3, 60);
    public static void main(String[] args) { new IPFinder(); }
    I'm trying to get Real IP Addresses (as the code was setup to do) from a browser running on the web server. I have read some of the threads in this forum and some mention to use NetworkInterface while others recommended using Sockets (not an option since we do not use them), and another to use a signature as a workaround. Anyone know the best direction to get the results expected?
    Thanks in advance,
    Geoff-

    I have an applet that runs great running the html file
    on my local machine from a root directory. I've
    placed my code(java, class, and html files) on the web
    server and loaded the applet onto a page. The results
    are merely:
    "Computer Name: localhost"
    "IP Address : 127.0.0.1"This indicates that your applet when run over a web
    server has not the rights to query the local name and
    address. Look [url
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/net/InetAd
    ress.html#getLocalHost()]here. The so-called
    loopback address is 127.0.0.1
    Check your documentation for "signed jar" (or search
    the forum or the sun website) if you want to give your
    applet more rights, but I don't think that this is
    worth the effort in this case.
    gdsimz, since you already started two new threads based on my suggestion, how about at least saying "thank you" or "sorry, didn't help"?

  • Win8 pro, hyper-v: error while connecting on local machine "an authentication error has occurred" "the supplied handle is invalid"

    Subject host OS: windows 8 pro.
    I've turned os feater hyper-v on, restarted copmuter. In hyper-v manager added empty virtual machine. After double clikcing on my newly created machine windows with "virtual michine connection appeered". I turned button "power on" and
    console has dropped error:
    "remote desktop connection": "An authentication error has occurred. The supplied handle is invalid."
    on the tiny image on the left bottom picture a can see quest console.
    1) How can i install OS on my guest, where is default console for virtual machine?
    2) What is RDP required
    for  on this firts stage of installation and how can i connect to the virtual machine console without it???

    Hi,
    Regarding your first question, here is an article talking about install and configure the first virtual machine in Hyper-V, please refer to Step 2: Create a virtual machine and Step 3: Install the guest operating system in the below link:
    Install Hyper-V and Configure a Virtual Machine
    By saying the default console for Virtual machine, do you mean the Hyper-V manager?
    The error might indicate that there is no VM available to connect. After we installed a OS, then we could connect it with the right-click in Hyper-V manager, see:
    Connect to a Virtual Machine
    The RDP connections is used to connect the VM in Windows 8, and for Windows 8.1, there are great improvements including what's called Enhanced Session Mode, more information, please see:
    Overview: Client Hyper-V Enhanced Session Mode in Windows 8.1
    If I misunderstand something, please let me know.

    I did some research and found the IOS is in the KAV list of bug#CSCsv43145. I upgraded the IOS to 12.4(25e) which doesn't appear in the list but still same error occurs.
    -is the error just cosmetic
    -is there anyway to go around it?
    I have attached the config.
    10x,
    E.B:.

    Hi,
    12.4(25e) should not be affected by CSCsv43145, which is cosmetic. The issue you are seeing is likely not cosmetic, and is actually resulting in dropped packets due to mac authentication failures. To troubleshoot this type of issue, you really need to get sniffer traces on the WAN (encrypted) side from both tunnel end points and compare the packet in question (based on the spi/seq number reported in the log) and see if the packet is corrupted somehow. There is no easy way to get around this other than turning off authentication check in your ipsec transform, in which case no mac authentication will be performed on the packet, and you do need to consider the security implications when doing that.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks,
    Wen

    Thanx but link provided doesn't deal with the subject of interest.
    Read the start of the thread carefully. Oracle 9i rel 2. which is enough to answer the question what I raised. Platform on which I am working is irrelevant in this context. Be context specific. Regarding the dismissing links provided is centpercent correct. For your information, there also I did not dismiss the link given by you arrogantly.

    There is a software incompatibility here: WCS 5.1 does NOT support WLC 4.1, as per the release notes:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/release/notes/WCS_RN5_1.html
    I would suggest you the latest 4.2 WCS code if you are not planning to change the code on the WLC.
    If you think about upgrading your WLC, then avoid WCS 5.1, and go to the latest 5.2 or 6.0.

    Any suggestions on what I can ask my IT department to change on the server so I can connect would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jeremy,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    From the error and other description it seems that there is some misconfiguration with setup. You need to provide the FQDN name of the server as might server name is not resolving its name properly and so facing issue. As seems from below details:
    [2014-Nov-26 15:52:20] RDP (0): Final rdp configuration used:gatewayhostname:s:gato.gibbscam.com
    screen mode id:i:0
    use multimon:i:1
    session bpp:i:24
    full address:s:dev-JeremyS2.gibbs.local
    Configuration used and full address name both appears different so please verify configuration accordingly.
    Please check the DNS record, check certificate whether it match FQDN name of the server with certificate name, also try to check to connect with IP address and see what result you can find.
    You can follow below guide to configure RD Gateway and after that verify the result.
    1. Deploying Remote Desktop Gateway RDS 2012
    2. How To Work with RD Gateway in Windows Server 2012
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • "Failed to connect to remote distribution point" on local machine

    I have a new System Center 2012 R2 setup. I only have a single server with Configuration Manager, SQL, and Distribution Point all on the same machine.
    The Configuration Manager Client Package is failing to load to the distribution point.
    Content Status says: "Distribution Manager failed to connect to distribution point
    ["Display=\\AcadSCCM01.Academic.local\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=900"]\\AcadSCCM01.Academic.local\. Check your network and firewall settings."
    The distribution point is on the same machine as config manager, and the firewall is turned off. When I try to redistribute the package it fails again immediately.
    I checked distmgr.log and found the following:
