Mac's and Blackberry's compatibility

I am not sure if this should be posted in the iSync or Mac OS X v10.5 section. So forgiven me if I have posted it in the wrong spot.
I am thinking of getting a Blackberry Phone (Because a lot of my business customers use them and would like faster responses to their emails).
I was wondering if a Blackberry and a Mac could be made compatible? If so what are the issues that I would need to resolve?
Any advice would be most welcome

Hmmmm
Sadly I have tried the Apple iPhone. I really liked it and had two (One for me and one for my partner).
Unfortunately in the UK the Apple iPhone is only available through one airtime provider, O2. I am self employed and transfered my main business number to O2 airtime provider and they could not get me working with the iPhone, the tech support was shockingly bad and I lost a weeks worth of business because they had me off the air for so long.
The apple store also tried there best and couldn't help.
After a week of getting no service at all from O2 I went back to Vodafone who could not have been more helpful. The customer service from Vodafone is outstanding. I really think that Apple should have taken which air time provider offered the best service for their product into consideration
I wouldn't place my business with O2 for a second time, If Apple allowed Vodafone to have the iPhone on their service I would jump at having an iPhone again.
I would like to add that at no point did I consider the iPhones to be an issue, It was apple appointed service provider.

    Thanks for the reply Julian,
Looking at the info in the two links. would I be correct the http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/mac.jsp link would be a no cost option?
The http://www.markspace.com/products/blackberry/blackberry-sync-mac-software.html link seems to have much more advice to it, But there would be a small fee.
Are you able to say which would be the better system out of the two options to use?
Do ether system have a down side or any known issues?
Thanks for your response so far

  • How do you sync iCloud (contact, calendar, task) to outlook 2011 for Mac? and how do you make seemless sync between iCloud to Outlook 2011 to Blackberry device or an iPad?

I have three device: Macbook Pro (OSX 10.7.5) for work; an iPad and a Blackberry for mobile. I used mail, iCal, and Address Book combine with mobileme (iCloud) to exchange data such as contact, calendar and task from my Mackbook Pro to my iPad but never to Blackberry. The problem is my boss was asking me to change to Outlook 2011 for Mac because some of the email that I sent from Mail did not appear in my client's Blackberry. So how do you sync iCloud (contact, calendar, task) to Outlook 2011 for Mac? and how do you make seemless sync between iCloud to Outlook 2011 to Blackberry device or an iPad?

Are you holding down the "d" key, all by itself, just after the system shuts down for a restart?
And how long did you hold it down?
I held mine down for about 40-50 seconds. Then I lookat at my routers WAN light and it was flickering so I let up on the d key.
If that does not work then maybe there is something wrong with your MBP. Is that the reason you want to run this test, something isn't right with your unit?

iWeb cannot import published files so you would need rebuild the site.
Yahoo hosting is notoriously poor and their tech support is awful. I would suggest you look for new hosting and start afresh. Some pointers for choosing hosting...

  • Mac OS 10.8.6 contacts to Z10 Via USB and BlackBerry Link

Have an iMac with 10.7.  Appointments with my Z10 are currently synced via a USB cable with Apple iCal Using a USB cable.  Want to upgrade to a newer version of Mac OS 10.8.  Mac OS 10.8 no longer has iCal but Calendar instead.  Does BlackBerry Link work with Calendar the same way it does with iCal and sync with the Z10.  In BlackBerry Link, there is a specific option to work with iCal, not sure if this was to make it work with iCal and that it will work Calendar as well.  Maintaining sync with calendars is most important to me right now and the OS upgrade would let me use another application that I trying out...  Again maintaining calendar sync is a must.
Confirmation that BlackBerry Link syncs to the Z10 from Calendar via a USB connection would be appreciated.  Downgrading an OS not pleasant.

I have a Mac Air and use  Calender.
I have my Gmail calender synced(?)/conected to my Calender (click on "Calenders" in the top right of the screen and add it.
I have my Blackberry calender linked to the same gmail account and they sync as well. It seems to work.
I am however unable to sync the contacts on my apple to my blackberry. But I can sync from my blackberry to my computer..............

  • Compatability between MAC OS and Win XP & iPod

    Hi there!
This is maybe a rookie mistake but - I have uploaded music to my iPod sucessfuly using Windows XP/iTunes and it works fine. However I have since connected my iPod to a Mac laptop and uploaded music to my iPod from I-Tunes on there, I know the music is on there as the memory has been used up.
The problem arises when I reconnect my iPod to my PC, it doesn't show the music I uploaded from the Mac as being present. Likewise when I scroll through the iPod's menus (not via the PC).
Can any of you help me out here so that I can listen to the music I have uploaded from the Mac laptop!?
    Many Thanks In Anticipation!
    Aus

No, mp3 and m4a songs can coexist peacefully on the iPod.
If your iPod is on automatic update, when you reconnect the iPod to your PC after loading songs from the Mac, it will ask you whether you want to update. If you answer yes the songs from the Mac will be replaced with the songs from the PC.
To load songs on the iPod from more than 1 computer, check this:

I want to upgrade to Mavericks. Will I need to reinstall all of my apps and copy my files back to the hard drive?  I have not installed an OS on a Mac before and I'm wondering whether it is as involved as on a PC.

Short answer: You do NOT have to reinstall all your apps and copy your files back.
Longer answer: Upgrading the OS does not touch any user files. Upgrading the OS should not interfere with any applications which are compatible with Mavericks.  In my experience non-Apple apps are generally left unchanged by the upgrade.  It is possible that some apps may need to be upgraded. One good resource for checking application compatibility is RoaringApps.
Finally, it is always wise to backup everything, just in case.

  • Mac Mini and Internet Problems

According to my re-install disks, which there are 2...I can put in 0S-9 or OSX 10.3.7. I believe currently that I am running the OSX 10.3.7. By the way, please be patient with me, I am relatively new to Macs. Anyway, this morning the internet was working perfectly. This afternoon, when I clicked on my Safari Icon, the Yahoo homepage will load about 75% and then it closes and I get an error message. I also sometimes use Netscape for ebay listings and it is doing the same thing. I called my ISP and my cable modem seems to be sending proper signals and he said it sounds like a computer issue. Through Internet explorer I am able to get on the Mac site and leave a post but this is far as I can go. Any help will be appreciated!
    God Bless!!!
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.3.7)
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

The Mac Mini (probably) won't boot natively to OS 9. The OS 9 disks are for what's called Classic Mode. It's for backwards compatibility for those of us who have older software we still want to run; it basically runs OS 9 within OS X. Since you are new to Macs, running old applications is probably not an issue for you, and you will save around 300 MB or so by not installing it.
    About your network problem:
+Not all browsers and webpages are built to the same set of standards. Webpages built with Microsoft software tend to be especially notorious about not working with anything other than IE, but IE-Mac isn't up to the universal standards. I usually run Safari, but I have 4 browsers installed: Safari, Firefox (tends to be the most compatible, but I like Safari's interface better), IE, and Netscape (I use it for building simple html).
+Sometimes weird problems are cause when the file permissions are messed up. Go to the folder /Applications/Utilities and run the application Disk Utility, then find the button that says "Repair Permissions" and click it.
+Use the Software Update utility and download the latest updates. First download the 10.3.9 update all by itself, then any Security Updates, then others. You will be stuck rebooting more than once, so when you do this, make sure you have time to sit in front of your computer for awhile.

Do you need to do a presentation, or do you need to do a PowerPoint presentation?
PowerPoint is presentation software by Microsoft, part of Microsoft Office. If you want to use it, you need to buy it from Microsoft.
Apple has its own presentation software, called Keynote, and it's quite well regarded. However, it is not bundled with Mac OS X, and you have to buy it from Apple, either by itself, or as part of a suite called iWork, which is a sort of counterpart to Microsoft Office.
If you need compatibility with PowerPoint, but can't afford to buy it, you can try OpenOffice or LibreOffice. Both are free; they are based on the same software and they are designed for a high degree of compatibility with MS Office. There is also NeoOffice, based on the same software as the other two; it is supposed to be more Mac-like than the others, but, although theoretically free, it requires a (relatively) small fee to download, which means it's not really free. None of the three is as well polished or well supported as MS Office or iWork, but they do work quite well.

  • Is it possible to run dual display monitors on a KVM switch between my mac mini and a PC desktop?

I have two 23" monitors utilizing DVI that I currently have plugged into my PC desktop.  I'd like to purchase the mac mini and utilize the same monitors for both systems and switch back and forth between the two.  So, I'm wondering if it's possible.  The only two hangups I can anticipate is dual display capability on the mini (I expect that some adapter will be necessary), keyboard compatibility between the two systems, and finding a switch that will handle all the above.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
