Mac Safari "Adobe Flash Player Security" issue

Using Captivate 5.5 for Mac. I've been having sporadic problems viewing my published .htm files in Safari. I always get the "Adobe Flash Player Security" popup on initial load, but before today I could usually just click OK and refresh the browser window to play the Flash content. Today I can no longer view the content in Safari. (Firefox plays the content fine.)
The popup says "To let this application comminicate with the Internet, click "Settings". When I click Settings, my Mac OS Flash preference dialog opens. But the only options available are "Local Storage Settings", "Camera and Mic", "Playback" (which pertains to peer-assisted networking, not local playback), and "Advanced" (which only allows you to delete local files). Just for experimentation, I tried adding my local path as an allowed site in "Local Storage Settings" but it doesn't have any effect.
I don't have any other problems using regular Flash-based websites in Safari. Only my published Captivate files spawn this security popup.
How do I fix this?

It worked! Thank you. (Actually, I used the related URL for "Global security settings for content creators" (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04a.ht ml#119065) since that URL is intended for local development/testing, whereas the link you provided is for sites on the Web.)
But I'm curious. . .  according to Adobe (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html), "Beginning with Flash Player 10.3, the Local Settings Manager supersedes this Online Settings Manager for managing global settings on Windows, Mac, and Linux computers." Yet the page goes on to explain when one would use the online Global Settings. This is very confusing. If the local Settings Manager supercedes the online manager, why would the online manager still be required for certain uses? And why isn't a link to the Global Settings manager provided within the local Settings manager. What am I not understanding?

Hello, I need some help. I keep getting an Adobe Flash Player Security warning every time I try to load Pandora on my Mac. I not sure if this is some form of spyware. I've tried to research it online but I can't find anything with this specific error message. Also I've run a few antivirus/spyware programs, but turned up with nothing. I've never come across it before when using Pandora in the past, so I know it's something out of the ordinary.
Thank you all very much for the assistance.

There's a local file "/about/srcdoc" (I'd imagine it's in the Muse-Pandora folder) that's attempting to connect to the Internet. This is a "safety feature" built into Flash Player to prevent malicious files from connecting and downloading a virus. Why they have that for Mac OS I do-not-even-pretend-to-know, but it's there.
Open your System Preferences and the Flash Player pref pane
Click the "Advanced" tab in the Flash Player Settings Manager window
Scroll down to Developer Toos and click "Trusted Location Settings...:
    Click "Add Folder..."
Select the Muse-Pandora folder in your Applications folder
    Confirm
Close the Manager and retry it.

  • Adobe Flash Player Security pop up during installation.

Hello, I recently purchased a macbook this week. My first apple computer. I was downloading and installing a widget, astroids, through apples website and after installation I noticed a dialogue box appeared. It said "Adobe Flash Player Security" as the title and then it showed where the downloaded file was located. I looked in the folder where it said it should be located but nothing was in that folder. I couldn't close the message box, it just stayed their with my mouse pointer doing a circular pattern. I eventually restarted my computer because I didn't know how to get rid of it. My question is should this be something I should be be worried about? Is everything ok with my macbook? Sorry if this sounds silly, I am new to owning an apple computer and trying to get familiar with it. Thank You.

  • Adobe flash player security blocking

The adobe flash player security  is blocking mail with the message /about/srcdoc is trying to communicate with this interner-enabled location  static.adsafeprotected.com

    IanGCou wrote:

If you select a single site to allow, not much, as long as it's a trusted site and you're careful about what you open there (in this case it being mail, you need to use your own discretion). If you set Flash Player to allow ALL sites, then you may be opening yourself up to anything from spyware to outright viruses.

    Hello,
This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer, OR
Download the stand-alone installer posted at the bottom of the http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If the behaviour reproduces, please clear the browser's cache and try downloading again.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe Flash player - Gameranger Issue

    Hello!
I have an issue with Gameranger (a program simillar to steam). Please take some time and help me somehow, because I have absolutely no idea what more can I do, trying to solve it. I tried almost everything (reinstalling...) googled for it, found nothing useful. So it seems it is more serious and uncommon issue.
I have been using Gameranger since 2011. I remeber that I uninstalled it because I thought I am not goin to use it anymore. But  few months ago I installed  it again. It does not woek on my computer since than.
The problem is, I cant run Gameranger.  When I launch it, it says:
    Gameranger: Flash Player Needs Updating.
Your adobe Flash player web plug-in is Version 1 and needs to
be updated to the latest version for security fixes.
Download and run the update from Adobe´s site.
So when I click OK I am automaticly transferd to Adobe´s Flash Player download site where I follow the instructions and install it.
So far, so good. But the problem is that nothing happens after installing proces. The same massage again. And I tried to reinstall Gameranger, reinstall Adobe Flash with Mozila Firefox and Internet Explorer but in vain. It happens the sime and it really angers me. Everything works fine in both browsers, but with Gameranger Adobe Flash Player is obviously not recognised.
I googled for it but nothing really useful. That is the only solution that I thought it is useful:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090214162616AAUg8bI
It mentions that GR needs Adobe Active-X and also Adobe Flash Playerto to be installed with IE. So i did. NO DIFFERENCE!? Same stupid massage again: Flash player needs updating, Flash Player needs updating... Arrgh ...You have no idea how meany times i have reinstalled the latest version of Adobe Flash player.
So please help me bacuse I am running out of ideas, what can I do in purpose of solving this annoying problem. I would also like to say that I am not some kind of experts for these things (I had no problem with Adobe Flash Player in past) and maybe there is just a little trick I dont know, or maybe I am doing something work.
    Thank you!

    That's a 100% a GR problem. Here's what it is.
GR, like a lot of websites, uses a detection script to determine the presence and version of Flash Player. A lot of older websites haven't updated their scripts in a while and GR is the same way. Older "detection" scripts are based on a one (1) digit version number for Flash Player. 1 is 1, 2 is 2... 9 is 9... BUT  10 is 1 again, and so is 11, 12, or 13 according to the detection script.  I'm pretty sure you still had version 9 when you installed it, but have since updated to a 2 digit version, and that's what's causing this.
Since the message you're seeing specifically mentions version number and NOT a missing Flash Player, it can't be that you needed ActiveX and didn't have it. You DID and do, and a version higher that 9, but GR's script can't detect a two digit version of Flash Player.
You can try a "clean install" of Flash Player (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4041846), but since the problem comes from GR... I don't think it'll help.

  • ADOBE FLASH PLAYER UNINSTALL ISSUE- FEB 2015

    POSTED FEB 2 2015
hello fellow mac users -  I have an adobe flash player question...
I am sure everyone is aware of the adobe flash player vulnerability that came out late January 2015.   Initially when I saw that, I promptly removed flash player on my machine and installed the new version 16.0.0.287.    A day later when I started my machine,  I saw a Flash Player message indicating I have to download again.  I googled and found out Adobe actually only partially fixed the vulnerability.
Exasperated, I decided to say bye-bye to Adobe Flash for good by uninstalling Flash Player.   After uninstalling, I went to Youtube and played a video - it shows that its using HTML5 codec to play the video - so far, so good.
The issue I am having is that since I uninstalled the Flash Player, whenever I start up my machine I am getting this "Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller" pop up window.
The first time I saw it, I clicked on UNINSTALL button and it will say "Adobe Flash Player was removed".   But every day when I start up my machine, it still shows this pop up message and its driving me bonkers.
is there a way to remove or prevent this pop-up from showing up?   BTW I checked my machine's preferences and Adobe Flash Player is no longer listed.
    BTW I have a iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011), Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Thanks for your input in advance.

    RESOLVED - Feb 3 2015
I believe I have found the issue and resolution on that pesky Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller - thought i'd share in case this would help someone.
Since that f***ing  Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller pops up each time I start up the machine, I thought I should check the "startup" items in my Mac machine.  So I did my research and I did the following steps:
    1. Click on Mac > System Preferences
    2. Select Users and Groups
    3. User and Groups window pops up - On the right pane you'll see "Password" and "Login Items" items - click on "Login Items".
On the Login items - I did see 'Adobe Flash Player Installer' - apparently this triggers the Uninstaller instead of Installer - but whatever - I have banned Flash Player from my Mac so I highlight this item on the Login Items list, and click on the minus sign button - it removed the Adobe Flash Player Installer from the Login Items list.    Then I restarted my machine - and voila -  NO MORE PESKY Adobe Flash Player uninstaller pop-ups!!!! Hurrah!!!
Again this might help specifically for those who want to BAN Adobe Flash Player from their machines and are seeing the Adobe Flash Player Installer / Uninstaller every time they start up their machine.  Apparently this is not a widespread problem but it still does happen.  Good luck y'all and say goodbye to Adobe Flash Player (sorry Adobe, but I do still love your core products like Lightroom and Photoshop).  Adobe should not have bought Macromedia (who originally developed Flash and Shockwave) years back but who would have known Flash would be such a headache (no thanks to cybercriminals)...

  • Strange Safari 'Adobe Flash Player 9' message...

In the past few days several times a day a Safari window has opened stating:
"A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive."
Do you want to abort the script? Yes No
I do not know how to eliminate this or what is generating this message. When I 'Spotlight' Adobe Flash Player 9 nothing comes up...
The only other non-regular thing I've been doing is running an old DVD which needs to be in the OS 'Classic' mode..
    Any suggestions...?

I'd guess it were a problem linked to some of the sites you are visiting (these aren't unspecified). Frequently websites utilize JavaScript to communicate to Flash, but they don't always check for issues with Safari browser when designed! (If you were feeling brave you could check the Safari Java Script console for info when the message occurs for you). If you don't need Flash you can deinstall it using its deinstaller application from the Adobe website.

So far as I know (not that I know much!) there wouldn't be
    anything in the
new Flash beta player to fix this. You will get better
    results, however, if
you reduce the quality settings for your published files.
    Doing so should
reduce the published file size, making better use of limited

    Hi Fireseed,
    Please do the following:
Ensure you have the latest version installed:
Launch Firefox and go to Adobe - Flash Player
There is a widget on the page that lists the version installed, and a table listing the latest versions for each OS and browser. If you don't have the latest version, Firefox will block Flash from displaying.
If it is installed, and you have the latest version, ensure Flash is enabled:
Launch Firefox and go to https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/enabling-flash-player-firefox.html

  • Safari & Adobe Flash Player

Some sites requiring Adobe Flash Player 10,0,45,2 on Safari won't launch to play videos.
    Here is an example:
    http://www.ktuu.com
The Top Videos on the right hand side show an arrow to click on. However, when I click to play them, nothing happens. I have no problems viewing them in Firefox.
I can watch videos on this site, only if they're included in the story.
I just can't view the Top Video section.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Flash Player and repairing permissions. This has not corrected the problem in Safari. Is there something else I should try, or forget it and continue to use Firefox for these videos.
I am using Snow Leopard, and this isn't the only site I have this problem.
    Thank you

    Hi
the top videos section tries to open a new window when a video thumbnail is clicked - if Safari's 'block popup windows' is checked - nothing will happen.
Using Leopard, I ca see them fine unless pop-ups are blocked.

  • Adobe Flash Player Security Updates after Windows XP End of Support

    Hi,
I have to check up for our customer, whether there will be any Security Updates for Adobe Flash Player on Windows XP after End of Support next year.
Haven't found any information on the web :-(
    Thanks in advance,
    Nicolai

I don't know, and like you, haven't seen anything.
    Here's what I do know.
Android dropped ALL support for Flash Playe June 2012 and Adobe continued to develop and release security updates for the older Android Flash Player versions up till September 10 of this year.
Support for Linux ended with version 11.2, but security fixes for Linux Flash Player are still being developed and released.
Given the still-widespread use of XP in schools and corporate environments, I'd have to say that support (at least security updates) will go on for a while after next June14 when Microsoft officially "sunsets" XP. How long that will be is not info I have.
