When shut down and rebooted, the Mac OS X does background maintenance on the system. That can solve minor issues.
Beyond this, it is a good idea to run Disk Repair yourself just to make sure.
Reboot with the option key held down. On the screen that comes up select the Recovery disk icon and Continue.
On the next screen Clcik Disk Utility and Continue.
In DU, in the list on the left select the drive to be repaired - click the item that is indented to the right, not an an item whose name starts on the far left.
Click First Aid, then Repair Disk.
After that is done, quit DU and restart as usual.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

If it sounds like a RAM issue it could be one of the RAM chips has failed. You could try removing the RAM one at a time and see if it starts with one still installed.

Did you already try to reset the ipod by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
If this does not work, restore "as new device" without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt files.

Well I have been at this for 3 days trying to get Iphoto to load. I have uninstalled, installed over and over again the ILife. Today I even downloaded Iphoto for 15 dollars from the App Store. Laptop's freezing: how to find out what the problem is?

Hi all,
First of, I realize that this is not the best forum to ask about hardware
issues, but that's not *exactly* what my question is, please read on!
So, my laptop started freezing at seemingly random times. I understand
that this could be a hardware issue, but I was wondering if there is any
way I can find out something. For instance, I tried to have htop running
constantly so when the laptop froze I checked if any stats where weird,
but there wasn't any problem that I could see.
Any other ideas on how I could possibly get an idea what's wrong?

When it freezes:
Do the keyboard lights flash?
Can you SSH into the box?
Can you ping the box?
Does it unfreeze? Or does it require you shutdown and reboot?
If it unfreezes, was the disk access light on during the freeze?
Is there anything interesting in the logs or journals after your reboot?
Other things you can try:
Blacklist kernel modules of all non-essential hardware and see if that improves stability.
If it does, turn them back on, one at a time.
Is it temperature related? Check both ambient and core temperatures.
Is it susceptible to mechanical shock?
Have you run a memory test?
Does it only freeze when on batteries?

How will I determine if the problem is on the earjack or on the earphone?

My earphone sometimes work but sometimes it doesn't...My prob is that usually when I make phonecalls using my earphone, the person I'm talking to can hear me but I cannot hear the person on the other line. The only way for us to talk to each other is to unplug the earphone. I already tried using my sister's earphone but still same problem happens when on her phone, her earphone works fine. I can use the handset and speaker without any problem. Is buying a new earphone a great idea or there is a prob with the earjack and buying a new earphone won't help? Thanks!

My HP Envy will not download Windows 8.1_ How do find out what the problem is?

I have attempted to upgrade to Windows 8.1 but I am having no success. I am not recieving any answers or direction as to what is causing the blockage from either the HP Help Assitant or from the Windows Store_ nor from the Microsoft web domain.

you may have to run windows update troubleshooter. go to metro screen point and click on a blank spot of screen type 'windows update troubleshooter' and follow instructios on screen after running troubleshooter try again to update to 8.1 good luck!

IPod shuts down due to "low battery" even when fully recharged

OK..
I got big problems with my iPod battery.
I've already sent my iPod to Apple once, but they returned it saying nothing is wrong and giving "helpful" tips about turning the backlight off in order to make the battery last longer..
Well, I sorta disagree about there not being any problem. And I did feel a bit insulted about the claim that my iPod is not malfunctioning as well as the hints about me being a retard who needs to be told that using the backlight continuously might have an affect on battery life.
(but in case my retardedness is to blame for all my problems with my iPod, please let me know. )
During he last 2 months or so, the iPod keeps shutting down due to "low battery" even though it's been connected to the USB port for, like, 20 hours straight.
Tried different ports and computers without any luck.
The recharging-icon is usually moving while connected to the computer, but I don't get the "battery is fully loaded" message (or icon?) anymore.
Sometimes when the iPod has shut itself down due to low battery, it can still be used for ~10 hours by turning it on/resetting multiple times. When that happens, the battery icon is at first "empty", but then bar suddenly goes to half full.
I also suspect that resetting it 7 times before plugging it into a USB-port helps. Occasionally.
No way to tell if there's 15 hours or 15 seconds life left in he battery. I just got got home from a 2 x 8,5 hour flight and the iPod shut down right after the first take-off So.. yeah.. I'm ****** off atm.:/
I've tried all the tricks I've found on the net (resetting, software updates etc.) but nothing helps.
Don't know if it could have any relevance, but it seems like the problem appears more often when playing audio books - long mp3 files, that is...

I have the exact same problem. About 2 weeks before the end of my 1-year warranty, I contacted Apple about the problem. They sent a box with prepaid shipping (I paid for it) and I sent the iPOD back to Apple. Today, I checked the status of my repair and the screen reads:

No trouble found (11-Apr-2006)
Step 3 - Return
Original product shipped (11-Apr-2006)
I contacted Apple Customer Service and was told that they ran diagnostics and nothing was wrong with the unit. I asked them if it mattered that I noticed problems with the iPOD that they don't seem to see and they said no. They said the problem could be with my charger, but I told them that I recently lost my charger and had used several different chargers that work with other peoples iPODs just fine. I even left it to charge overnight and the next day I could barely play one song. The woman I spoke with told me that if I had any problems with the iPOD after it was returned to me, I would have to send it back (they would not provide the box) and pay $225 since it is no longer in warranty .
My problem is that the unit was in warranty when I sent it, they didn't fix it (they couldn't find this very obvious problem), and now it isn't in warranty. The only way I can listen to music is to plug it into an A/C outlet while it is playing. My other option is to buy another mp3 player.
Has anyone else had this problem? Have you found a solution? Thanks!

- What version of the Operating System.

Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

Why is Pages 5.2 telling me it can't save my document until problem is resolved -- how do I find out what the problem is and how do I resolve it?

I'm working on an iMac OS 10.9.3. I downloaded Pages 5.2 and am using it to edit a long document with multiple images. Formatting disappears (style headings, for example), then when I try to move an image, the program tells me it can't autosave until problem is resolved. I don't know what the problem is or have any inking of how to resolve it. I can't move the document to another destination, or duplicate it. I've had multiple program crashes and am not getting anywhere. Sure could use some help in salvaging this important document.

That is not the full message, and what does it say exactly?
What exactly are you intending to do with this file?
If you are going to take it to a commercial (digital or offset?) printer, how do you propose doing that? In what format? What output are you aiming at? Have you actually spoken to a printer about what you are putting together?
If alarm bells are not ringing for you yet, I am not sure what it is going to take to alert you to the mine fields you have just entered.

Mac Shuts Down Unexpectedly in Logic Pro

I sure hope someone can help me with this. For the last few months my Mac Pro starting shutting down unexpectedly typically when running Logic but not limited to Logic. I have updated everything that I can find. I have taken the computer in the store for support twice where they said that after testing there was no issue with the power supply or the logic board and determined that the hardware was okay. The only thing he could tell me is that he thought that it might have to do with all of the dongles on my usb hub. Before the hub was being powered by the Mac so I got a new hub that is now self powered. I thought that it might have to do with the fact that I run Logic through a Digi 002 which I know a lot of people have had stability issues with. Yesterday I also updated my Ilok and Eliscencers and it seemed to work. Today after a solid day of no crashes it was back to the same old stuff. Out of nowhere while Logic is running the audio signal abruptly stops but not to silence it holds a buzzing sound of the last audio that was processed. Mine has done this at least 3 times already. The laptop isn't connected to a power source, but it says there is still about 30% battery remaining. It has happened before with 50% and even 60%. It's not that it falls asleep, I would be in the middle of doing something and it just shuts off. I don't think it's overheating... It's a little warm, but the fan isn't 'working hard' or anything. It's not happening consistently, but it's happened enough times that it has made me concerned. Here's my battery info:
