Mac software on Airport Express CD?

I've lost my Airport Express CD. What software is included on that CD, and can it be downloaded from the Apple site?
Thanks.

Yes, I have the software on my machine. But I'm selling my AirPort Express and want to know what software the other person needs to run it. Is there a disk image available for the CD that came with the device? I've looked around on the Apple site, but can't find it.
Thanks.

Yes, he would have to have jailbroken your phone to install malware. If you see an app called "Cydia", that would indicate conclusively that it was jailbroken. I would recommend restoring the phone as new using iTunes. It is your best shot at removing a jailbreak.
You should also change your network password, your email password and your FB password as well as passwords to anything else you've used from the phone. Put a lock code on the phone.
Your best defense against this sort of thing is to NOT give your phone to people you don't trust.

  • G4 mac compatability with Airport Express?

I'm still a bit of a ******* when it comes to my AX (and thanks to the 2 people who answered my other question regarding it)
In this case, I have a software dillemma - my Powerbook G4 says that it is not sufficiently updated to connect to my AX. The Airport Assitant Utility helps with "Graphite and Snow", but not my AX.
Where can I update the Assistant for my Powerbook G4 laptop, or is that even possible? - so that it will (hopefully) work with my AX?

    Duane,
I have a similar problem and am wondering how my situation works with your statement of 2wire not working with AX.
Posted: Jul 2, 2007 10:01 AM in response to: bleedingrose19
The AX can not be used to wirelessly extend the wireless network of a 2Wire portal. The 2Wire is not compatible with Apple's WDS.
My original set up worked great with the AX. DSL modem (NON-wireless), to router, to Airport Base (original type) to AX. The old modem and router started dropping everything so I upgraded to a 2wire wireless modem through my DSL provided.
I have my 2wire working and my Airport working but can't get the AX to work.
I've reset the AX time and time again so that it doesn't remember a thing. I want to use the AX as a booster to another part of the house so I can work on my laptop there and my husband can use it with an ethernet wire to his PC like we use to be able to do.
Here is how I have it set up now on a WEP password.
    Plugged into this router is:
    733 MHz PowerPC G4 running OSX 10.3.9
    Airport Extreme (1st edition)
HP 6MP laser printer that connects to a Asante box (needs appletalk)
Airport Extreme has a USB Printer attached to it
Airport Express that is a booster and is also used by a non-wireless PC laptop for internet access using a blue cable
PowerBook and an iBook using the wireless set up. Both running OSX 10.3.9

  • Request for advice - problem networking mac mini without airport express

Hi - grateful for any help on this one.
I've just upgraded from an original (May '05) mac mini to a new 20" G5 (intel dual core) which I've set up on a wireless (airport express) network. The new machine and network are working fine but I've been trying to set up the old mac mini in a different room as a second machine for work and have been having problems.
The mac mini is the basic version without airport/bluetooth. After some mix up at the Apple Store over retro fitting an airport express the genius I spoke to recommended getting a D-link USB wireless adapter. I bought a D-link DWL-122 installed it (and after a crash course in the difference between WPA and WEP) got it running okay on the network. Unfortunately the D-link driver software appeared to wipe out the Spotlight index and stopped my HP printer being recognised. A couple of bulletin boards I googled suggested this was a common problem but I haven't been able to find any with a solution. In the end I had to wipe the hard drive and re-install from scratch to get the printer and spotlight working again.
So I have two questions: is there a way to make the D-link work (the d-link website has no faqs, update drivers or other info about Mac bugs) or, if not, then what should I buy instead to access my wireless network reliably? Would I be better getting something that plugged straight into the mac mini's ethernet port? If so, what? And grateful for any recommendations about which products and their software are most reliable.
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Thank you!
    Chris

    Hi,
You should of been able to use the Airport Express to solve the issue you are having. The Airport Express (small white brick shaped) is designed to work as a stand alone router or as a wireless extension to an existing wireless network.
So the setup would be from the mini as follows:
Mac Mini ---> Airport Express (AirPort Express Extends wireless connectivity) ---> Wireless Router (Airport Extreme, etc) ----> Cable/DSL Modem.
    Hope that helps.

  • Mac Mini Server Airport Express with Server Firewall Settings

I posted this in the Server forum, but I've had no responses so far - so I'll try it here instead! Any help is appreciated...
I've got a new Mac Mini Server (mid 2010) with Snow Leopard Server v10.6 that I intend to use as a file server in the long term, and as my main computer replacing my old PC in the short term.
One of it's uses will be my iTunes server for my Airtunes network with two airport expresses.
When I disable the server firewall iTunes can connect to the airports with the check box in the 'multiple speakers' menu in iTunes. If I enable the firewall with the default settings of 'allow these ports' I cannot. I have used the Apple document on well known TCP and UDP ports to open for Apple software packages with particular attention to streaming audio / iTunes etc. Still doesn't allow the speakers to be selected in the 'multiple speakers' check box.
I also tried the 'allow all traffic' option for the firewall, again no connection to the remote speakers happened. If I turn off the firewall it all works fine. It seems that there are some ports that need to be open in order to establish the connection - I just don't know what they are.
Does anyone know of the appropriate ports to open? I tried searching the forums and I did try some of the suggestions for port 5000, 6000, 6001 etc but it doesn't make any difference!
    Thanks in advance...

I found this works too. Though I came about this a slightly different way.
I moved over to Airfoil as Airtunes didn't work without the firewall and Airfoil did. I then had problems with Airfoil not reconnecting to the remote speakers when you cycled the power on them, I don't want all of my remote speakers powered all of the time. They were set to automatically connect, yet they refused connection a couple of times before connecting, which meant logging into the mini and reconnecting manually, which wasn't what I wanted to do. During an email conversation with Rogue Amoeba I sent them a debug logfile - they pin-pointed it as a connection denial with IPv6 addressing.
Once I had that info, I disabled IPv6 for my network adaptors and Airfoil worked and reconnected fine even when airport expresses are power cycled. I then tried Airtunes again and now the speakers can be connected. It's down to the first choice for connections is IPv6, if this is not available it's IPv4.
It's definitely a bug with the IP6FW control and link-local traffic.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1515 Just installed Airport Express on Mac 10.6.8  Can't see base station.  Hard Reset the Airport.  Rebooted machine.  How can I tell if this is a Mac problem or Airport Express Problem?

I have a Mac 10.6.8.  Just installed Airport Express.  I can't see any base stations.  I did a hard reset on the Airport Express, turned off all devices,  turned them back on.   I see plenty of Airport networks in the neighborhood.  How can I tell if I have a Mac problem or an Airport Express problem?  Airport Express blinks Amber.

Obviously,  I'm still using ethernet to be able to reply to this.
Alright, use the same ethernet cable to plug directly into the airport express. This will FORCE the airport utility to now see it regardless of weak signals & interference. You can set it up that way.
BTW, what is the original intent on the express?

  • Can't add new MAC address to MAC ACL on Airport Express

    Hi,
I just recently got a new iPhone 3GS. When I logged into my Airport Express to add it's MAC address to the ACL I found that the + icon was greyed out. I can modify old MAC addresses in the list and delete addresses, but I can't add new ones. Anyone have any idea why this might be the case. It seems like I can modify all other settings without any problems. I restarted the basestation, no help. I also even reset the password just incase, as you might expect that didn't help either. Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Setup:
WDS with 2 other access points
Mac Address Access Control set to "Local"

If you are configuring the router as MGCP, you do not enter the mac address, just the router name.

  • Mac not reading Airport express.

    Hello..
I just bought the airport express and I connected the ethernet cable from my cable modem to the port. At this point the Airport light was green and the lights on my modem were flashing as if it was working.
Thinking this was a great start I went to the Aiport Setup Assistant and chose to set up a new airport base station. An error comes up telling me "no new airport networks were found". I can't get the internet to work, and I've tried with my mac and my girlfriends pc.
    Two things:
    1. What can the issue be?
    2. Why are the modem lights flashing as if there is a connection to something.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

Make sure that you have Airport turned on in the
Airport menu in the menu bar. If it is turned on,
make sure that the Express is in an unconfigured
state. To do so, press and hold the reset button
until the LED flashes rapidly. Then try running the
    Airport Setup Assistant again.
Yes it says that its on, but yet I am getting no bars on my mac.
Do I need to configure anything on my mac so the Airport signal is read. It seems like my system just isnt reading the port. AHH..Sorry..not super computer savvy, yet really want to get this working. Thanks so much.

  • MAC Address on AirPort Express

How do I discover what the MAC Address is on an AirPort Express?
I'm using AirPort Utility and it does not seem to display anything about the MAC address for these devices.
    Ideas?
    Thanks
    -Mike

    Hi Bob,
    I'm using 6.2 (Build 620.33)
I'm wondering if this is the issue because it seems like I've been able to obtain the MAC addresses of all of my AirPort Expresses and even my Time Capsule in the past.
But now several versions of AirPort Utility updates later, I can't.

  • Able to clone MAC address on Airport Express?

Am I able to clone my MAC address to the airport express router? I connect to wireless and wired networks but my apartment who provides the internet required my MAC address to activate my macbook on the network, so if I can clone my macbook MAC address to the airport express unit then it would work, any advice?

Thank you, I was able to locate the MAC addresses and I will supply my apartment with them. It's just kind of a hassle, I have to fill out another form and wait probably a week for them to add it. With XBOX 360, you can clone your computers MAC address and get access to internet immediately. Thanks for the help...

  • Compatibility, Software, Firmware Airport Express

I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.2. I have an Airport Express 802.11n Wi Fi.  Can I use these together and if so how do I do it?  When trying to install, I get a message that Mac OS X on this volume is not supported.  Thanks for any direction and support!
    Jim

I have the Airport plugged in for power, I have the Airport also plugged with an Ethernet cable to my computer The yellow light is blinking. I opened the Airport Utility. It is a gray box with Internet in the middle and a green Circle. On the bottom is the message regarding no configured Airport BAse station. I just have a spinning wheel. Again, thanks for your continued support.

  • Connect Power Mac directly to Airport Express

    Here is my situation:
I have a PC hooked up through ethernet to a wireless router/modem (came with verizon subscription) in my living room. I also have a Powerbook G4 that I connect to the internet wirelessly. Everything works great. I just picked up a Powermac G5 Quad the other day that I use in my loft and it didn't come with the airport card. My question is, can I plug the Airport Express into the wall and plug my Powermac directly in to the ethernet port, taping in to the wireless signal of the modem/router. Unfortunately I don't have any phone outlets in my loft.

The only way for the AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) Ethernet port to be active is if the AX is set up to be a relay/remote base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). Unfortunately, only a very few non-AirPort base stations will work with the AirPorts for WDS. (ref: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php?title=WDSLinked_routernetwork)

  • Attempted to set up an HP wireless printer and my whole network is now a mess.  HP help told me I had too many signals, as I have a Time Capsule 4 Macs and 4 Airport Express set up.  Anyone else figure this out?

I attempted to set up a new HP wireless printer.  It is unstable and HP support says I have too many devices since I have a time capsule and 4 airport express either extending my network or being used for a different printer or stereos.  Anyone else find that their Airport Express/Extreme interferes with a wireless printer. If so, what's the point?

I have a similar model, the  HP 8500A here in the home office that I originally hooked up using wireless on an AirPort system consisting of an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule and 2 AirPort Express devices.
The HP was originally hooked up to the "main" router using wireless as a test to see how wireless would perform. No issues with setup or performance over the first few weeks. I did eventually change the device to connect using Ethernet once I had room to move the device near the AirPort Extreme.
HP is pulling your leg with the advice about too many devices. The AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule will handle up to 50 wireless devices. In my case, I did nothing except follow the setup procedure and restart the entire network....something that I always do when I make any change to the network.

  • Trouble setting up 2nd mac with my Airport Express

I just got the Airport Express (802.11n) on the weekend and finally (after an hour or so) got my imac G5 to get hooked up to it. It wasn't easy and although I used the Airport Express utility, it was a bugger to set up for some reason.
I also have a G4 Powerbook that my wife uses. When I originally set up our Airport Express on the weekend, both of our computers found the network and connected no problem. Yesterday, there was a problem with our ISP (Rogers here in Toronto), so I reset everything back to the factory settings on the Airport Express and did our network all over again. My computer can connect again to our network but when I checked her computer, it sees the our network name but can't connect to it. Her computer, however, can connect to the unsecured wireless network our neighbour has lol, so we know everything is good with her airport card.
I'm wondering what I did wrong here. I think it has something to do with the settings I'm manually putting in but here's my question:
Do I have to manually configure both computers to get onto our wireless network or should I let it happen automatically?
I don't really understand all the IPv4 settings either (or, for that matter, the DNS settings either). Do both computers have to have a IPv4 address that is one digit off one another?
If someone could dumb this all down for me, that would be perfect lol. I need to also write down all these settings when everything is up and running perfectly for both computers.
    TIA,
    Dale

Keep in mind that ordinarily your airport functions as a router. This means that the one IP on its WAN side (via cable) is used to serve numerous artificial IPs on its LAN side (via radio).
Outbound packets get their return-IP addresses changed by the airport on the way out. Inbound packets are a little more difficult. The automatic translation of inbound packets from one IP address on the WAN (Wide Area Network) into the correct one of several potential IPs on the LAN (Local Area Network) is done by a clever little function called NAT (for Network Address Translation), which is also built into your airport.
Normally, you let the airport assign the artificial LAN IPs. It will do this in numerical order as the respective computers in your house get recognized.
Most houses work fine with the automatic setup.
And then there are variations galore...
