MAC spinning color wheel after CS2 file has been sent to printer or saved??

Using Illustrator 12.0.1 CS2. When sending or saving a file completed in CS2 I get a long drawn out (several hours) Mac spinning color wheel that holds the file ransom until it completes the cycle. I have had CS2 for several years but it suddenly started this shortly after a crashed HD (reloaded the saved CS2 & data to a 2nd Mac that was fire wired to the crashed Mac) and a new set of fonts was loaded. Thanks Scott

I occasionally get the Wheel of Death too and I think most people do to some extent, but it's usually because you have got too many applications running or there's something huge on the clipboard. You can easily clear your clipboard by copying one letter from a file name in the Finder.
But several hours of waiting sounds as if there's something more seriously wrong. If you restart your machine, can you tell me whether the file you were saving when the Wheel of Death appeared was successfully saved despite of the Wheel?

  • Long Unresponsive Delay with Spinning Color Wheel After Compressor Launches

    I'm running FCS3 with Compressor 3.5.
    After I launch Compressor, there is a 1-2 minute delay before it will respond to my mouse clicks. The Choose a template window will finally appear after the long delay and then Compressor is responsive to user input.
    The reason why this is happening is because I have six (6), yes 6, external optical DVD and Blu-ray burner drives connected to my Mac Pro through a combination of FireWire and USB. When I turn them all off, the delay and unresponsiveness in Compressor is significantly shorter (about 6 seconds). Compressor tries to scan for all your optical drives upon program startup, and this can take a long time if you have many optical drives connected. This issue does not exist in Compressor 3.
    This is just a tip for anyone else out there who may have several optical drives connected to your Mac. If you only have one or two optical drives, then you may only see a 6 second delay with the spinning color wheel after Compressor starts up, which is bearable.

    Again, this is just a tip. If you want to avoid long delays after starting up Compressor, then disconnect or turn off any external optical burning drives you may have connected.

  • Calendar entry takes along time.  I get the spinning color wheel after each tab.

    Calendar entry takes along time.  I get the spinning color wheel after each tab.  How do I avoid this?

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • How can I see that a file has been sent for workflow?

    How can I see that a file has been sent for workflow?
    During the workflow phase, the file is locked for workflow. But when the file has been approved (or denied) it will have the same status as it did before the workflow process (unless you trigger the workflow by changing its location).
    You can see the workflow history in the "My Request" view, but this way of determining whether a file has been approved seems complicated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the transaction code, but my question is not answered yet.
    For example, I use STMS_IMPORT in the Development environement to see the list of the transport that has been made in that environement.
    I now have a list of these transports, with a status. But I wanna know if that transport that has been created in the Development environement has been moved to the Sandbox environement.
    STMS_IMPORT shows me only the list of transports that has been created in that environement. It doesn't tell me if a transport in DVL has been moved in the QAS, SANDBOX or PRODUCTION environment.
    Thanks again,
    Julien

  • Why do I get the Mac spinning color wheel for 40 secs or more?

    Vers 7.0.1 completely stops my MacBook Pro and shows the dreaded spinning color wheel. I turned on my Activity Monitor and have traced the "time out" to Firefox. Not a plugin, per se, but to Firefox.
    I have NEVER had this problem before this upgrade. I turned OFF the syncing, thinking that could be the problem (I had been notified several times - 10? - that the syncing server wasn't working properly, so I thought of it).
    Any suggestions how to stop this. TOTALLY annoying. Happens ever few minutes even when I have the browser open but am working in other programs.
    It takes more than 100% of my CPU usage.

  • While using Firefox when I click the mouse or when typing like this I get the Mac spinning color wheel and any action is delayed about 10 seconds.

    I'm on an iMac, 10.4, Firefox 3.6.20 and the problem is occurring with greater frequency. When I installed 3.6.20, it ran perfectly for a short time, but now the spinning color wheel happens on almost every mouse click and it makes using Firefox an impossibility. I tried the Apple installed Safari and had no difficulties. It does not occur when I use Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 either. I will appreciate any help because I rely on Firefox. Thanks.

    It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • How can I get rid of the spinning colored ball?? I has been spinning on the page that i have to put in my password.   I have been waiting for 3 hours !

    I just purchases my macbook pro about two weeks ago. There is a spinning colored ball on the page where i put in my password to log in.  It has been spinning for three hours.  What am i suppose to do??

    The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
    If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • How can I keep the links between pages in a PDF file after the file has been saved?

    My accounting department has just starting using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard to make our account reconciliations.  I like that we can create links between one page and the next, so that we can show our supervisor where the account balances tie to the supporting documentation.  But I have noticed the links disappear after my supervisor reviews and signs the PDF file.  Is there a way we can keep the links after it is signed?  Please note that we are not using EchoSign, just the “place signature” function in Acrobat.

    When a document is signed, the signer has the option of locking the document. The links won't be active if the document is locked, so to avoid this, instruct the signer not to lock when signing.

  • My question has to do with analog input and triggering? Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can improve the attached vi so it can trigger on a 50kHz ten cycles pulse after the pulse has been sent out on the output?

    Could you just look at this vi and tell me if i am doing anything wrong? I get errors that are different each time I change something. here are the inputs I am using
    Output Side:
    amplitude = 1
    freuency = 50kHz
    Sampling Frequency = 1MHz
    3 of Samples = 200
    Input Side:
    Input Buffer 4000
    trigger type = analog
    pretrigger = 5
    edge or slope = rising
    scan rate = 500kHz
    # of scans = 2000
    Conditional Retrieval
    mode = on
    slope = rising
    skip count = 0
    level = .1
    offset = 0
    hysteresis = 0
    So what we want to do is capture the ten
    cycles of the 50k output pulse on the input and need to store that so we can plot it later, do you have any suggestions. we are using the PCI-MIO- 16E board.

    1) Toss the sequence frames (no flames please).
    2) Set you read and have it ready to trigger before oing the output.
    3) After the output, go back and read the data that is waiting for you.
    4) If you have errors tell us what they are and under what conditions they occured.

  • Large online photo files cause slow Mac with spinning color wheel

    My Mac Mini has been gradually getting slower to launch apps, any app, and now usually includes 15-30 seconds of spinning color wheel. Sometimes I get the wheel and delays while browsing. Finder windows populate slowly with file icons/names.
    This behavior seems to have started, and gradually increased, since upgrading to 10.6 about 8 months ago but it also seems to be related to viewing large photo files online, since Snow Leopard.
    One repeatable problem is viewing a large 2 or 3mb photo file online. I notice in Activity Monitor that Safari (both 4 and now 5 at 64bit) will dramatically increase the Real and Virtual Memory used, and not decrease even after the browser window is closed. In a few minutes the User CPU % will max out (at about 75% while System uses 25%) and the Mac while freeze for several minutes (Safari not responding) until CPU usage goes back to normal, but the Mac will be so sluggish then that I have to restart. I usually Force Quit Safari.
    I have Repaired Permissions (1000s of Airport Utility were repaired but the JavaVM permissions report fixed but are on the list of repairs again a few minutes later) with Disk Utility and Cocktail, scanned with VirusBarrier X6, monitored network connections for months using Little Snitch and usually leave open Activity Monitor for checking out the action. I have read a lot of support docs and forums but I can't find the problem.
    Any idea how to rid myself of this bizarre behavior?

  • Spinning Color Wheel appears frequently on my Mac Pro

    I am using an early 2009 Mac Pro with a 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, 6 GB 1066 MHZ DDR3 ECC memory, and a 1TB hard drive.  I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5.  Recently when I am on the internet (Safari 6.1.6) I more frequently have screens freeze and the spinning color wheel display.  I have owned the computer since late 2009 and have really not done anything (maintenance, etc) to it, as I don't know what I should do, if anything. After reading on this forum about the necessity for hard drive backup I have just ordered an AirPort Time Capsule and should have it later this week.  I downloaded and ran EtreCheck and copied it to my clipboard.  I don't know whether I should increase memory to avoid this or if there is some other problem.  Can you give me some direction?
    Thanks.

    Clone the system to the SSD (250GB $120 EVO 850 Samsung) using CCC -
    http://www.bombich.com
    Might be a good time though to do a clean install and then use Setup Assistant
    No maintenance?
    Always have a couple bootable system drives, one for maintenance, one from last month or just prior to when you last made changes to the system.
    Take a look in Activity Monitor for pageouts, disk usage, and what is running
    And start TimeMachine backup routine,
    Copy your data to a new 2TB drive like WD Black ~$120 also
    Leave the old drive as is for now, later you can erase and try using for a backup

  • Trouble with spinning color wheel

    Still having the same issues with the spinning color wheel. Took my computer into Apple; seemed to "fix" it but as soon as I brought it back home and started using it again the same issue with the color wheel constantly spinning.  Has ANYONE had success with fixing this problem?!!! I've tried everything suggested and like I said, took it into Apple and that hasn't helped.

    This is a regular problem. The moment I begin to use ff, very early on, the little color wheel pops up and spins & spins & spins. Can't use browser while this wheel stays spinning. It hasn't stopped spinning after 10, 15 minutes etc. So I force quit & restart browser and it continues. So, I re installed version 3.6.13 several times. Still has spinning color wheel.

  • Spinning color wheel of death

    every time i try to open the mail i get the scwd. how do i solve this problem? right now i have to go thru my .mac acct to get my mail. very annoying.

    Yesterday, whilst trying to solve a problem with mail - which attachments sporadically and automagically become embedded BASE64 files I rebuilt my IMAP inbox - All worked well for about two minutes. Then the real problems began. Mail would present me the Spinning Colored Wheel of Death. Then consume my CPU to 95% and Not Respond. Interestingly enough - I was still able to receive mail. Just not able to respond.
    For the next few hours I scoured the forums. Reviewed the data collection bits and tried all of the solutions - none worked. I even tried to remove everything and start afresh but alas there are still some mail parameters lurking somewhere that seemed to keep ensuring the problem resurface.
    I even tried to repair my drive but could not - because the repair option was grayed out. Was able to verify, fix permissions and all of the other activities instead of sleep.
    I moved copies of Mail folders to the desktop - restarted. Nope. I moved my Preferences -> com.apple.mail.plist file - re-entered all of the information anew.Nope. Removed partial.emix files. Nope.
    All in all it appears that there are many with problems and no real straight forward troubleshooting - a lot of "try this" and "try that" approach.
    I would think that for a product that has numerous parameters and characteristics, there would be a better troubleshooting methodology.
    Finally I fixed the problem ...
    I went to http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/ downloaded and installed Thunderbird - I am now back up and running.
    I guess to be proficient I need to really understand the architecture of Mac Mail. I'll let the problem vet it self out to those that have the time and revisit at a later date - maybe. Until then TB 1.5 will enable me to get work done - and get some sleep
