Mac Store App damaged

I been unable to access the Mac App Store - I found that the Mac store App in the Applications folder shows "Can't open application because it is damaged or incomplete".
Mac Update download link for the Mac store App redirects to the Apple wb page webpage http://www.apple.com/osx/apps/app-store.html
Clicking on any of the links shown on that page simple redirects to a page that can't be opened by Safari. It does flash the page for a second or so,
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pages/id409201541?mt=12&ls=1&ign-msr=http%3A%2F%2 Fwww.apple.com%2Fosx%2Fapps%2Fapp-store.html
but then the "Safari can't open the specified address" message is displayed on the grey page.

I tried deleting the start text macappstores and replacing this with http but the result is the same unable to open page after briefly flashing the target page.
My questions are: how can I download a new copy of the Mac Store App and any ideas how I can resolve the issue of being unable to access the Apple app store.
Any direction or advice would be really appreciated as I need to update some of the applications I have.

Thanks Neil - you mean delete the Mac store app then run the combo again? Will give it a try.
Strangely the link http://www.apple.com/osx/apps/app-store.html works in Opera.
But I still can't find the update of Tweetdeck on the App store, even doing a search.
I appreciate your imput and direction.

  • My software update shows that no update is available for my machine.  It shows that it is running Snow Leopard 10.5.8, downloads for the 10.6.8 update will not open.  I am trying to get the mac store app so I can upgrade to Lion.

I have not been successful in obtaining the latest version of Snow Leopard so I have the Mac Store app.  My computer shows that there are no updates available even though it only shows it running version 10..5.8.  I would like to upgrade to Lion.  When I download the .dmg updates from the web, they try unsuccessfully to open in Itunes or Quicktime.  I can not get them to run.  What is my next step?

As noted, in order to update from OS X 10.5.x to OS X 10.6.x you will need to acquire the retail package for OS X 10.6; that initial jump can not be done via download.
The current shipping retail version for OS X 10.6 is 10.6.3. Once you have installed that you can update it to OS X 10.6.8 via the Combo Update - running Software UPdate should be able to fetch that for you. You can also download it directly -

Once you have installed that you can download and install the update for OS X 10.7 (Lion).

  • Any advice on a missing/removed Mac Store App (which has been paid for)?

Okay, so I'd really appreciate some advice on this matter.
On: 6/10/2013, I purchased Grand Theft Auto 3 from the Mac App Store. I used the App without that many problems for a few months. After a few months I deleted the App as I needed to concentrate on my studies.
I decided to re-install the App last night, however, when I logged into my account and looked at my purchases, the App was missing. I then searched for the App on the Mac App Store and it wasn't available there either. It had been removed.
So, I checked my purchases and there is a record of this purchase. So I emailed Apple and I received the following reply:
I understand that you're unable to locate the App "Grand Theft Auto 3" that you previously purchased. I realize your need for this to be addressed. Let me look in to this for you.
________, please know that as much as want to help you with this but I was unable to restore the item in your purchase history. Note that when an item is modified in the iTunes Store, or removed entirely, we no longer have access to the original one that you ordered.

Now, my question is, can I do anything to obtain a refund for my purchase? The way I see it, I've purchased a product and paid in full, but after a few months, they've decided to take away my product for whatever reason. I understand that Apple have probably written something within their Terms & Coniditions that states they can remove their Apps etc. But shouldn't they give you a warning so you can download the App?
I'd be grateful for any adivce,
Many thanks and have a nice day.

    Hi Shogun.Storm,
Sorry, but that is unlikely. The terms of the iTunes store (that we all click on the Accept button for, but rarely read), clearly state that you need to back up your purchases, because they may not be available for re-download if they have been removed from the Store for any reason (this could range from the manufacturer pulling it to, in some countries, it being banned by the government).
Some countries do not even allow re-downloading of past purchases at any time.
Do you not have an iCloud or iTunes backup that you can restore from? If it was something that you deleted many months ago, then it is likely that restoring might be more problematic than just not having it.....not sure about that. But that really is the only way to get it back on your device.
    Sorry,

  • HT204319 i dont have a mac store app

How can I download this? I ve been checking software updates, but there are no updates.

You can't download it. The App Store is part of the 10.6.6 update. You have to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard. Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard came out in July of 2009 and became obsolete in July of 2011 when 10.7 Lion was introduced. Unlike earlier Operating Systems which were removed from the Apple Store when a new OS came out Apple kept Snow Leopard around for a year until 10.8 Mountain Lion came out. When Mountain Lion came out they removed Snow Leopard and Lion from the online store.
The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list.
If they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.

  • Mac store app keeps stalling

We can get to the Mac App Store then as soon as we click, it freezes! Any ideas?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Did the Lion purchase go thru or not? Lack of any indication from Mac Store program.

I reinstalled Snow Leopard in anticipation of installing Lion afterwards. I updated it as well.
So after Snow Leopard was completely functional, I started the Mac App Store program and attempted to make the Lion purchase.
I clicked the $29.99 button which changed to a green Buy App button, and clicked that.
Then, no response. No indication that I made the purcahse. No indication that anything went wrong.
There was a whirling icon up near the left/right buttons but otherwise no response.
It didn't say the server was down. The network was confirmed as up.
I tried it two more times. Nothing.
I checked my email. No receipts for any purchases.
In the Mac Store App I clicked on Purchases. Nothing there.
I tried the menu item Check For Unfinished Downloads, and it said everything was downloaded.
In the Applications directory there is nothing to do with Lion.
When did Apple start making user interfaces that fail to report problems and fail to confirm successful operations?
I mean really, this is a terrible UI.

I am glad that you are such an expert on Apple products. Perhaps you should then go through the Apple Knowledge Base of articles and weed out the unecessary articles that Apple has had written and posted through the 25+ years that I have used Macs, reguarding 3rd party mechanical device firewalls and which ports on such devices need to be open for certain Apple software programs to function properly.
...Would Apple deploy a product -- the Mac App Store program -- that requires connecting directly to a cable modem, bypassing the wifi router?...Furthermore they would never impose such a requirement and then completely fail to mention that requirement...
No one has suggested bypassing the router. I suggested the router as a possible source to the MAS issue that you are experiencing. I left how you explore that possibilty and solve the issue to you.
Apple fails to mention things that effect their products all of the time. The internet is full of such complaints by folks.

  • What has caused an app I purchased (Family Tree Maker for Mac) and currently have installed, to disappear from the Mac Store. Does this mean it is no longer sold?  If so, how will I get update notices or re-download if needed?

I purchased and installed Family Tree Maker for Mac from the App Store about 6 months ago.  I heard that possibly a new version was coming, though I had not received any update notice.  I went to the App Store and it no longer shows the app, either as available for purchase or as an app I have previously purchased.  So I can't get any information on the app, support, etc..  How can an app I have purchased disappear from the purchased list???  How can I get update information or support links? (contacted FTM website and phone support and they said if I bought my program from App store, I have to get update information there).....the Update Info button in my program is actually greyed out!!  So the program I bought doesn't even have the normal update link!!  I thought one of the advantages of App Store purchase was being able to redownload the program in the unlikely event it was lost....ie: no need to worry about having the install CD.  So now I only have my installed, operating copy and no way to reinstall if it crashes due to corrupt data, etc.!!  Not a happy result from an App Store purchase!  And I must say the circular references in the support link are frustarting...apparently there is NO live support for the App Store itself!

Thanks for THAT tip: iTunes acct. history DOES show my (few) Mac app purchases, buried in with my MANY iPhone and iPad apps!  So I CAN prove I bought it (7 months ago, not 6), but you wouldn't know it from the App Store app on my Mac!  But that does leave a few other ?'s hanging: like how could I download it again, or check for updates (as I said, the version installed has the "update" button greyed out!  Ancestry.com (who sells it online and support it for other buyers said update info for App Store purchasers comes through the App Store.
I may just be out of luck with this because after 7 months of ownership, they (Ancestry) just replaced FTM with a new version (Family Tree Maker for Mac2) that is NOT an upgrade (though prior owners get $4.00 off on a $52.00 purchase!!).  I'll probably just plump for that....direct from Ancestry.com...and give up on the Mac App Store, because the new version reportedly has major enhancements in sync-ing your family history record between your computer and the cloud program available online.  Genealogy software, like everything else is migrating to the cloud, but one really does need a resident program on their device because you're often collecting data "in the field" in libraries, historical archives, cemeteries, etc. where you really can't get online in many cases.  Fortunately, more and more of the source data is coming online, so more and more can be done from home!

iPhoto is appearing as free on MAC store and it is also featured as one of the top 10 free apps, when i downloaded it, my credit card got charged for 790 rupees. I am using the latest OSX Maverick.

And yet to download the app you clicked on a button that told you that the app would be 790 rupees for you.
The iLife apps and the iWork apps are only free when you qualify to get them free. And when you get them free the buy button to download them says free. When the buy button has a price on it, that is how much you will pay for the app.

  • How do i reload OS X Server on Mac Mini, App store says installed but no reset or reload, system tells me to reinstall

how do i reload OS X Server on Mac Mini, App store says installed but no reset or reload, system tells me to reinstall?

Reboot holding down the Command and R keys.  This will get you in to the Recovery partition.  From there you can reinstall the entire OS.  Please note, Server.app will not be included in the reinstall.  You will need to log into your App store account to download it.

  • Mac App Store app does not install. How do I get a refund?

I purchased an app from the Mac App Store (Connect360 - $20).  I "installed" the app from the Mac App Store.  The app appears on the dock and loads, but when it's done, it disappears from the dock.  The app is not located in the Applicaitons menu like it should be.  When I return to the Mac App store app and go to PURCHASED, the app is listed there again with the INSTALL button ready to go to be installed.  I've gone through this now 2 or 3 times and the app doesn't ever install.
I followed all the links from the Mac App store to the developers website and after digging down into the comments found that others have had this problem as well.  I contacted the developer and they said this was a "Mac App store bug that Apple is aware of and to please contact Apple."  I have not found anywhere to properly report this and feel very frustrated that I keep getting sent in link circles from one place on the Apple website to the Mac App store and back again.
I had previously tried the "trial" version from the developer and loved it.  I followed all the instructions to "uninstall" the app before installing the Mac App store app as well. I thought it would be nice to have purchased the app through the Mac App store so it was tied to my account, but no suck luck.
Anyone know the proper procedure for requesting a refund or point me in the direction to get answers on how to get my $20 back?

Install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Then reinstall the app > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Your only recourse for a refund if you can't get the app installed correctly is from the developer, not Apple.

The Mac App Store Discussion: What is it for?

  • Why can't I sign in to the App Store app on my mac?

Is there anyone who can help me? I have OS 10.7.4 running on a Intel mac tower, I have an Apple account (that works fine for the iTune store, on my iPad), but when I click on the either of the links; Sign In, or Account in the App Store app on my mac nothing happens? I have also tried the same options in the menus but with the same result?
I had the same problem on Leopard, and bought Lion hopefully to fix the problem, but I still can't sign in...

To be honest - Apple did a miserable job in designing the user accounts on Apple Store, iTunes app profile, Apple ID profile and Apple discussion groups profile. You can't even change the password in discussion groups. You have to go through "forgot password" to reset it. I tried it once and never received the reset-email. Total misery.
Anyway, I had the same issue with not being able to sign into Apple Store app. In the end I resolved it by CLIKING on the PURCHASES button in iTunes, then it asked me for password and then I was able to make purchases etc..
