Mac Support Says an Unknown Other App is the Reason my Tom Tom App breaks?

The Tom Tom App worked fine several months ago when I first bought it but I stopped using it because it was a battery hog and I waited until my Tom Tom dock got here today. So I try to open up the Tom Tom app today and it shows the splash screen and then goes back to the "desktop" - I tried restarting and resetting, deleted the app, reinstalled it, nothing works.
The Mac Tech jumped to the conclusion within seconds that it must be some other third party app on my phone that is making that happen. He said I needed to delete every other app one by one to see which one was causing the problem. I asked him why did Apple then test all apps before allowing them into the Apple Store and he said "who knows how that process works." He offered to email me some knowledge base docs to show his theory wasn't just picked from the ether but I have yet to get his email.
Anybody got any thoughts on this? This seems a bit strange to me.

With 100,000 apps there is no possible way that Apple can test all of them in all combinations, nor can any of the developers so this is a real possibility. I am assuming he had you Reset your iPhone before suggesting this option? If not, try that now (hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the off slider, when the Apple logo appears let go).
If that changes nothing you can try Restoring your iPhone. To test the theory that something on your iPhone is causing a problem (which can also be data), Restore it as a new phone (not from backup) and just install TomTom from your applications. If it works properly there is then something else on your iPhone causing the issue.

    You need to export a self-contained video from FCP 6. Import the self-contain video into Compressor 4.

    Hi - I'm having the same problem with freeing up space on the HD. If I can't free space if I'm using any part of the clip, how can I split up the clips so that I can discard the part I won't use? This is crazy! I have only 4 GB of free space left!
    Also, I've tried to transfer the project file to my external HD but I keep getting an error saying I can't transfer it. I've been told this is because I don't have enough space on the HD for the transfer. I tried a similar transfer with another computer with plenty of HD space but the same error occurred. Is there a way to break up the project file into small pieces for the transfer (I'm thinking the whole movie file is just too big)?

  • My mac book appears to stops other computers using the same Internet from accessing the wifi

    I only have this problem when I come home to my parents house. Never had had this problem when at a home shared with 5 others all using the same wifi. But when I come home and connect my Mac book to the wifi and let's say watch netflixs, it will prevent all other devices (pc, iPhone, ipads) from getting an Internet connection. Just wondering if there was something in my settings that was making this happen.

    Most often BitTorrent, iCloud, Dropbox, or some other cloud-data application is involved in cases of mysterious bandwidth use by a Mac. If you use iCloud, uncheck at least iCloud Drive in its preference pane and see whether there's any change. If you use third-party network backup or file-sync software, disable that. If you use a torrent client, remove it.
    Otherwise, if you're running OS X 10.9 or later, you can see which processes are most active on the network.
    Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Select All Processes from the View menu, if not already selected, and also select the Network tab.

    Try to restart your phone, and if needed reset the phone.
    Restart: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    You can't permanently delete any items, bu you can hide them so that they don't show in the Purchased tab via you computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
    I haven't tried it for a couple of weeks, but with iOS 7 after hiding an app on my computer's iTunes I was needing to log out of my account on my device by tapping on my id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logging back in for it to then become hidden in the Purchased tab

    I've been browsing through forums about this question and it seems that there's quite a number of PyPanel question, but none really answers my question. I also googled about some "advanced" configs about PyPanel, but there's none really. Wiki doesn't provide me the answer.
    I'm using the latest Openbox, so, what I want, is to make a certain app to switch automatically from task field to the system area (tray) field on PyPanel without having any plugins (like a Firefox plugin to make FF go to tray instead to tasklist). There's some option in pypanelrc, a HIDE_LIST, which is imo pretty similar, so I assume that there might be a trick for this too.
    Or maybe I could somehow do it with rc.xml of openbox?
    Any ideas, maybe?

    Not that there is a problem with it, but was wonder if or when it may be opened to other sites for downloading to your ipodtouch. I don't see any place where this could be done.

    I have a Gen 1 iPod iTouch, updated to 2.2. I can't seem to get apps on it like facebook that i have downloaded through iTunes.

    I have three major problems - i have to restart safari twice a day cos it slows to a crawl, i have to reboot my mac at least once a day, and snow leopard defaults to mac email but i use gmail. i have set up support calls with mac support, which i pay for, and get the callback which says calls are answered in the order received and then tell me i am on hold for ten minutes. Is Apple becoming Microsoft? And since Apple no longer provides support, how do I stop the ongoing "callbacks" which always put me on hold. I run a business. Should I go back to Microsoft and Dell for non existent support?

    mhh.. when i phone apple care, i wait my 10 minutes and have someone on the line who will try to help me. don't see where the problem is, as i'm not the only person who calls them.
    you could try to delete safari's cache, if the browser gets slower. it's an option in the safari menu. also, if safari's generally to slow for you, you can easily try other browsers like chrome, opera or firefox.
    why do you have to reboot your mac once a day? does it freeze? or kernel panic?
    as for SL defaulting to mac email instead of gmail... i don't get it. Sl has it's own mail client. there you can setup your gmail account as POP3 or IMAP account and the mail client will send and load mails only from this account. but the same here as for safari. if you don't like apples mail client, install another one like thunderbird.

    I haven;t been using my ipad lately so I have about ten updates. I tried to udate them but my other apple id showed up. I never used this id with my ipad only on an old ipod. I went to my setting and looged out and logged back in woth my current apple id but the same thing happened. SO I just gave in and tried to update with my old password. Now I have a whole bunch of paused apps on my ipad.

    All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account/Apple ID that was used to download the apps.
    The reason you are being prompted for your other Apple ID is because the apps that need to be updated were downloaded with that Apple ID.
