Mac Switches Off (Is this a battery problem)

My Mac switches off automatically, even if my battary has 68% power left. I can only use my Mac if I have the Power Adapter plugged in.
If I turn my Mac on without the Power Adapter it shuts down before the Apple logo appears. Could this be a battery problem.

Same (identical problem) problem here. A few days ago it was not so evident, I felt like I was taking crazy pills: putting the book to stop and, when back, off.
Anyway now the mbp refuses to be turned on if the power cord is not plugged. Bad.
I'm gonna call for a replace tomorrow. (Little note, this is my third macbook pro. The first had broken isight and the second was a pit of panics.... speechless)

In the course of migration MacBook switched off due to low battery. After recharging the progress bar doesn't move. How to continue the migration?

I've never seen the Migration Assistant resume from sleep - for that matter I've never seen a computer go to sleep while MA was running. (If there's a next time, don't try this without the computer being plugged in.) You will probably have no choice but quit the migration and start over.

  • My phone switch off automatically what is the problem

Why my phone switch off automatically what is the problem I am using I phone. 5

Do you really mean it switches off completely, or it goes into sleep mode?  If the phone responds when you tap the Home button, then it was in sleep mode and is working as designed.  If it is powering off completely, then that is a fault and you need to take it to your nearest Apple store for evaluation.

  • Phone switch off after 10% of battery

Hello, my phone having problem with battery, when % of my phone battery below 10% or 20% my phone suddenly switch off. so why this happend? and how to solve this?

Charge it before it gets to that low of a level.
Your battery meter may need recalibration as it may not be reporting the correct level. Charge your device all the way up, then let it run all the way down until it shuts off. Repeat this cycle to recalibrate your battery meter.

  • Mini Mac Switches Off.

    *Wits End,*
My mac mini 2009 model has recently started switching off I have tried the SMU reset with no success, the unit is stubborn to switch back on and I have to hold the on button in for sometime, it may then stay on for 5 mins or 2 hrs but switches off again I have removed the outer case and dusted the unit but I don't think its a overheat/fan problem.
It seems since I used an external hard drive the problem began, has anybody experienced a similar problem could it be software problems.

I'm sure something is overheating. Could be an accumulation of dust, or a malfunctioning part. I would make an appointment with an apple genius bar at your local apple store.

  • I have a iPhone 5 and it started to shut off at random times and takes a while to turn back on. Sometimes I'll be doing something on my phone and it'll flicker then shut down. Is this a battery problem??

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My iPhone 4 turns off suddenly. is this a battery problem or what?

I have an iPhone 4 that is 4-5 months old. It has recently started to turn off all of a sudden.
I can turn it on but then it does still keep doing it. I had iOS 5.1 installed. Since this problem,
I have in fact reinstalled it once again but to no avail. I am not sure that this is a software
glitch. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? What should I do?
Thanks in advance for all the help you can give...
    Best,

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you've been through ALL of these steps and you still have problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • Mac Pro will not boot, power light flashes once and then Mac switches off

One of our Mac Pro's will not boot. When pressing the power button the light will come on briefly and the Mac will just turn off again.
I have unplugged the power cable and held down the power button for 10 seconds but this did not help.
Any suggestions for me before I call up Apple?

Most indications from flashing power lights are telling you that there is not enough working memory to start up.

    Hello nosaint1961,
It sounds like you are unable to successfully boot your computer to your desktop. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article to help troubleshoot what is happening named:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1367
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).

  • IPhone switches off with 10-20% battery after installing iOS8

    I've upgraded to iOS8 on 17th.
Since then, the iphone now switches itself off when battery is around 10-20% of battery.
    very annoying.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.
