.Mac Sync Error
I keep two computers synced via .Mac. Until just recently there's been no problem. My PowerBook runs its normal sync routine (and syncs properly with my Palm). When I try then try to sync my iMac it doesn't work, and this error message comes up:
[ISyncConcreteSession pushChange:]: you can't modify a record that doesn't exist: <ISyncChange 0x15c8a50>{ modify record id 'C200015D-D6D5-4DD3-A476-9C088352A955'
set com.apple.ical.type = local
set title = Unfiled }
NOTE: the problem seems to only affect the calendar.
I booted up from the system disk and corrected the permissions. I also ran the repair function, which reported that there was nothing needing repair.
Beyond that I haven't a clue. Thanks in advance for any help.
iMac G4 + PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)
This is actually a .Mac Sync issue, for which a forum exists here:
http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=957
It is triggered though, by an issue involving iSync and your Palm device. iSync creates a default Unfiled calendar, into which all Palm-created events are transferred each time you synchronize. This particular iSync feature has behaved inconsistently since the evolution of iSync 1.5 to iSync 2, and subsequent releases have not corrected the strange behavior it sometimes exhibits. Your issue is an extension of those behavioral problems.
Assuming that the error message appears on your iMac, which is synchronized with .Mac Sync but to which you do not synchronize your Palm device, then you need to reset your synchronization data by opening the System Preferences application on your Powerbook and execute these steps:
• press the .Mac icon
• press the Advanced tab
• wait for your registered computer list to be updated, then press the Reset Sync Data… button
• from the Replace: drop-down menu, choose Calendars
• click on the right-facing arrow, so that the orange animated arrow moves from left to right
• be sure that the phrase above it says, "On .Mac with sync info from this computer."
• press the Replace button
Once that process has been completed, go to the iMac and execute the same process, except in the opposite direction: you want to press the left-facing arrow so that the orange animated icon runs from right to left, and the phrase above it says, "On this computer with sync info from .Mac."
That should force the creation of the now non-existent Unfiled calendar on the iMac, and allow synchronization to occur properly.

I've been trying to reset .Mac sync, and I keep getting this error msg
*(NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value
what is this?A bug; probably the result of a corrupt schema. If you really want to wipe the slate clean you can get rid of ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local, but you should make sure you have a backup handy just in case you lose something you care about in the process.

No such entity named com.apple.palm.calendars.Category
The above is the error message that I receive when I try to sync Contacts and/or iCal from my G5-2.0 running 10.4.10 to my .mac account. Even if I try to reset the sync from my computer to replace what's on my .mac account, I'm can't due to the error message above. Would anyone be able to suggest or provide a solution? Is this due to the iPhone being released today, or with the 10.4.10 update? Thank you.
Ivor
Dual G5-2.0 Mac OS X (10.4.10)It likely has nothing to do with either event. These registered entities are tied to your registration of the .Mac Sync client:
• com.apple.palm.calendars.Category
• com.apple.palm.contacts.Category
If your platform reports that one or the other, or both, are not present, you can only correct this by unregistering and reregistering your .Mac Sync client. There is no other way a user can have any impact on this issue. -
I installed Leopard today and ran into some errors syncing with my .mac account. Most things seems to sync properly, but the menu bar icon shows some errors. When I launch conflict manager, the program opens but shows no windows. I have synced several times and restarted, but there has been no change. Is there anyway to force the conflicts to show, so I can resolve them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have installed Leopard on my iMac and laptop and am having trouble syncing my calendar iCal and Address Book. My laptop does not seem to be updated after I sync my iMac with .Mac and then try to sync the laptop. In addition, my laptop shows some conflicts in both the calendar and address book which are strange. In the calendar I have events which come up with "exception dates" in the iMac and different ones in .mac. I have several conflicts in the address book which come up with "No Name" and different email addresses, even tho I do not have any address book entries with no name. Even tho I have gone through and "resolved" them they come back when I sync the laptop with .Mac. Is anyone else having this type of problem?

Weird .Mac sync error -- cannot reset calenders and sync broken
When I try to sync my desktop I get the following error:
[ISyncConcreteSession pushChange:]: you can't modify a record that doesn't exist: <ISyncChange 0x3c5d5f0>{ modify record id '8C584579-8929-46A8-AE28-345C91E131DD'
set title = Unfiled
set com.apple.ical.type = local }
I have no idea what this means.
Moreover, I cannot sync the calendars on my machine with .Mac. I have tried resetting them with .Mac but this does not work, either. It generates the above error message.
Any ideas here? Since resetting does not work, is there any way that I can throw out all of the calendar information on my desktop and start fresh from .Mac? I know that .Mac is up to date since I since my laptop and Treo to it.
Thanks,
mhYou do not have to toss everything and start again: the Unfiled calendar resides on your machine to support the synchronization of a Palm device.
If you don't synchronize a Palm device, simply highlight that calendar and press the delete key. If you do, consider moving all of the Palm-created events and tasks in it to one or the other of the several other calendars in iCal.
Or, if you are using Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later and synchronize with a Palm device, ditch iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit and use the Missing Sync for Palm OS instead:

It's helpful to those of us who regularly post here to have you describe your configuration as completely as possible on your specific My Settings page, and supplement that when necessary with additional descriptive language. -

I have to say with a great deal of frustration that in over a year my iSync hasn't worked totally on any of my computers. It's been one issue after another, calenders, contacts, bookmarks etc., etc. I've owned Macs since the original 128 and have never had an issue like this that's been unresolved for this long. I actually just gave up on iSync but I tried it again today and this time I get this
Window>.Mac Sync Error>The sync was either cancelled or timed out.
and this Window>
.Mac Sync Error>An inconsistency detected on .Mac for your Contacts data prevented your sync from completing! You should consider resetting .Mac from a computer with good data.
Is there a cure for this or should I just shelve iSync and move along?

Sync Error in latest version of Desktop Manager for Mac
Using Version 1.0.2 (build 8) (version of 4/19/10) -- since updating to this version, always get message that "A Sync Error Has Occurred - please try sync again."
Seems to be a problem with Contacts because if I sync only Calendar to iCal it works fine, but since it doesn't tell me the nature of the error, I am having a hard time troubleshooting.
Using Mac OSX 10.5.8.
And I foolishly just tried "repace all contacts on this device" option, which I thought would overwrite Blackberry with Address Book from my Mac...but just wiped out the contacts on my phone.
Please Help!So i just did the same and yes, the sync error goes away, but i think another problem is occuring.
I use Entourage for my contacts and have a Blackberry to sync it to. Since contacts will only sync with ADDRESS i need to first sync ENTOURAGE with ADDRESS then it moves on to my BB. Since doing this exercise (above), it seems that ENTOURAGE is not syncing to ADDRESS...does this make any sense? -
.mac (me) sync error
I have been getting the above error for the past couple of days. ("A failure occurred while syncronizing the .mac Sync Client"). Does anyone know what I can/should do?
You should ask in one of the relevant MobileMe (.Mac) forums, as iSync has nothing to do with the .mac Sync Client (except for providing a button to reset the Sync History in its preferences).

More Torch sync errors with Mac iCal
I have read the thread at the bottom of my post below and am having the following sync problems with iCal
1 Duplication of iCal entries in the Torch calendar
2 iCal entries with the all-day box checked appear as all-day items in the Torch calendar, but not with the all-day box ticked there
3 iCal entries in the 8 different calendars there are all transferred to a single Torch calenda (which is what I want and expect), except for iCal entries from 1 April 2014 to the present day in one calendar only. How can I get these to transfer too?
4 I have successfully merged various Torch calendars and now have almost all the calendar entries in a single Torch calendar, the gmail calendar which is set as the calendar to which all new entries go, but is not set to sync wirelessly. However there seems to be another calendar on the Torch just called the default calendar with about 400 entries in it. I do not know how to merge the gmail calendar and the default calendar or even whether I need to or not as I do not know how to work out what the 400 entries are, as opposed to the 3000 or so entries in the gmail calendar.
I have tried the various options using Blackberry Destop Software 2.4 including "Syncing All events" and "Replace all calendar events on this Blackberry device".
Two further questions on those options:
Should "Sync all events" leave the events in iCal and the Torch Calendar absolutely identical?
Does or should "Replace all events on this Blackberry device" delete all existing events on the Blackberry and then faithfully copy all events from iCal to the Blackberry?
Experience suggests the answer is no to both questions, but I suspect the answer should be yes.
I would be most grateful for any and all help on this.
I have Mac OS 10.8.5 and a Torch 9800 with OS Version 6 with Bundle 3170

Audio midi sync error in logic and other apps
hey everybody,
after a system update, all my audio apps freakout when they have to playback midi channels. audio tracks work perfectly in all apps i use but using midi just clips the cpu meter all the way. in live for example which i use 100% midi, droputs and digital distortion will occur alsmost as soon as i press play. in logic it will take a few more seconds until the audio sync error appears asking me to check external devices. the thing is, although i usually output to my mbox 2, i have disconnected everything i use and have been trying it with the built in outputs and it's still happening.
please note all of this was not happening before the update and the exact same projects played back fine before. i'm positive it's something to do with midi. for example ableton live has been creating text files to its preferences folder titled midijitter etc. etc.
thanks for any bits help!
cheersHi,
I have the same problem. The problem happened after a system update (few days ago). I don't know which update caused this.(I updated several applications )
I re-installed Mac OS. I updated everything that the system updater suggested. And finally I tested with my applications. The problem still continues:
Sibelius, Pro Tools (and other applications using midi) can't play midi files correctly.
I also tested Quicktime; It can't play midi files correctly.

IPod Touch / iTunes sync error -50 on iMac, due to new upgrade for iPhoto
I have an iPod Touch, software version 3.0.
I have an iMac, on Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I am on iTunes version 8.2.1.
I am on iPhoto 09 version 8.1 (415).
Ever since Apple released it's latest iPhoto upgrade about 2 weeks ago, I have not been able to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes, and instead getting a 'sync error -50'.
Apple's phone tech support did not know what the problem was and recommended me to Restore my iPod, as well as re-install iTunes. This did not help.
After much aggravation, I found a discussion group addressing the fact that it might have to do with the latest version of iPhoto. So, in iTunes I unchecked the sync iPhoto option, and now the rest of the sync's worked (iCal, Address book, music, movies, etc).
Still, I am looking for a solution, as I do not find not syncing my photos a long term solution. Can I do this on my own, or does a solution have to come in the form of a fix from Apple?
I want my photos back on the iPod, and am very thankful for any tips/help (...hello, anyone from Apple reading this?).I don't think any of the work-arounds are really valid or deal with the problem. My Mac Pro desktop computer is 2 years old, so the problem obviously has nothing to do with a computer being new. I also don't see how it can have anything to do with iPhoto. If I get this error and "QUIT" iTunes and reboot iTunes, the iPod syncs perfectly, even though no changes were made.
I actually bought a new iPod this week because I thought my old iPod was failing (due to these repeated errors). Imagine my horror when the brand new iPod had the same problem.
Hopefully someone can figure out what going on. -
On my Mac I am endlessly receiving this message: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close" it relates to the sync which between Calendars (iCal and Entourage) .
The error messages were coming up every 5 SECONDS and were impossible to deal with. They stated there was a 'Blame Module' which wasEntourageCore
I have been unable to find any idea how to resolve this.
Please can anyone describe what they have done to sort this?
I am using MS Office 2008.
Turning off the sync between the two calendars was not the answer, as the messages continued. So I have temporarily disabled the sync between iCal/Entourage and my iPad. This has prevented the error message, but obviously means I must enter diary dates manually on iPad which is the whole point of the sync!
I haven't found a way to sync between iCal and iPad - this would be a possible work-round. Sync Errors - What Are the Correct Folder Permissions?
I've been having problems recently on the PB getting it to successfully sync.
Decided to open the log using Console and see what was happening - all sorts of errors! One seems to relate to permissions, the other to a possible problem at .Mac
It had attempted to create a folder 'Syndication' under '~/Library/Application Support' and couldn't. What should the group be to get this to work properly - clearly it isn't 'staff'!
In the other one it seems that a http 404 error occurs (not found) when trying to retrieve keychains from .Mac - going to keep an eye on this.
Cheers

Check www.mac.com and I think you should follow .Mac forum instead of iSync one as this is a .Mac problem (iSync does not handle .Mac sync). People are discussing the issues you experience there.
