Mac tabbing

I find myself unable to tab to another program (i.e. switch application) in a neat way from some full-screen games. The command+tab command seems disabled. What's the easiest solution to this?

To alt-tab in World of Warcraft,first hit Command-M. That puts the app in windowed mode.then you can access the dock.

Macbook pro 15 discrete graphics not showing in the about this mac tab

I am new to osx. I was wondering why I couldnt find the discrete graphics info in the about this mac window. It simply says intel hd 4000. I was wondering whether or not I need some drivers for it.

I assume you mean under the "Display" tab when you click "About this Mac" > More Info...
This only shows the active graphics card. To see the full specs, open "System Information," either under "Overview" Tab > System Report, or from the Apple Icon in the menu bar by holding down the option key and clicking "System Information." Under hardware > Graphics/Displays

Firefox 3.6.6 Mac Tabs Unresponsive & Incomplete Page Loads

Ever since the 3.6.6 upgrade for Mac, running under OSX 10.6.4, my tabs load, but then I cannot select any of the "buried" tabs the mouse. The top tab "page load thermometer" at the bottom left of the status bar never completes to the point where it says "Done," despite the page being fully loaded and active. (The bar remains, showing about a 98% load....)

This must be the crappiest upgrade to Firefox. It's totally worthless. I'm currently now using Safari because of it because I don't want to bother with reloading a previous version of Firefox.

I transferred my files from a G4 to a new macbook pro, but I can't access my old songs in itunes. I click on the mac tab to access mp3 and acc but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

They maybe corrupt, try transferring again from the g4. If iTunes is giving you an error then you need to authorize your computer with the same iTunes account as previously. Also, you could try exporting your iTunes library via iTunes on the g4.

Works on a mac but not a pc...unless...

It took a couple days to get my head around it but iWeb rocks. I whipped a couple of pages that make my old site built on Network Solutions look
like...s#$%!. The image on the homepage links to the NetSol site for now.
One problem. I e-mailed the link to my wifes pc( Thinkpad w/latest version of XP) by copy and pasteing it into an e-mail. Once the mail is retreived a click on the link gets me a generic error message (page cannot be found).
Copy and past the link into the IE browser on the pc and I get a different message (we're sorry but we cant find the homepage.......... ) which is a 404 error page from apple under the .mac tab.
Here's the rub, If after hitting the publish button in iWeb I opt for the announce feature and send it to the pc it comes up fine.
I'll bet there's a simple explanation.
Can I trust this to work on any computer since my business depends on it. Here's the link for a go see. It's still in beta phase.

Most likely the problem is that your link got messed up in the email at the pc end. It is quite common for garbage pc mail programs to split the url and add a return or space somewhere, so that clicking on it or copy/pasting it gives an error. Sometimes this can be avoided by putting brackets around the url (<....>) in the email you send. Also it helps to just use the shortest possible url, which after the 1.0.1 update is http://web.mac.com/username I think

How can we get the .mac password to stay?

I've finally decided to brave the potential address book loses in an attempt to sync them all together. Two of three are able to access the .mac. This one cant. It asks me to configure .Mac first. Ok, I try to do just that, but there's a problem adding my password into the .mac area of the system prefs. When I type in the password, it removes itself when I click on the iDisk tab. It says my password is missing, and I should put it in the .mac tab. Ok,i put it back, and it re-removes it. So I put it back, & click on "sync now ". It says, "You dont have a .Mac account, please configure .mac first." Yeah, fine, if it only let me. This OS is 10.2.8, the other two are 10.3.9 & 10.2.8.

ICal not sync with my 2 macs

I have an iMac and macbook, both with leopard, and .Mac account. Everything was syncing fine until last week. Now only iCal does not isync. On .Mac calendar, I can view a calendar originating from my iMac. Still, when I isync my macbook, it does not pick up new calendar info. I have reset sync data, under the advance button under .Mac tab on both computers. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

i would suggest you do the following:
1) reset sync history in isync>preferences on both macs
2) unregister both macs from .mac and if prompted purge/get rid of sync data
3) quit ical, trash/delete the file com.apple.ical.plist from homefolder/library/preferences n both macs
4) choose the mac with the most up to date info
5) on that mac go to .mac preferences, and register to .mac again, once that is done click on the advanced button and sync by reseting sync data, replacing data on .mac with data from that mac.
6) log on .mac, go to ab contacts and bookmarks, and with each make sure you are prompted to confirm the reset - log out and in until you are prompted to do just that - go forward with the reset.
7) once done, go to the second mac, register with .mac, and sync by reseting sync data, repacing data on that computer with data from .mac.

Page Can't Be Displayed when trying to Clone PC's MAC?

I'm running Road Runner High Speed Online on Windows XP, with a cable modem, WRT54G vers. 6, I upgraded the firmware recently to 1.01 and reset it. When I try to configure my router to work with dynamic IP addresses, on the setup page I click the Clone PC's MAC tab, click "enable" and save settings. Settings are saved. Continue. Then when I actually hit the "clone your pc's mac" button I keep getting Page Cannot Be Displayed! This has happened even after I tried resetting the router again. I tried to configure it using the setup cd but that kept telling me it wouldn't detect my router, even though I had it plugged in in all the right places. The Easy Connect doesn't help either, it detected my router but doesn't allow me to configure anything. Why do I keep getting PCBD? Is there another way I could get this set up? This has been driving me nuts for almost a week. (I'm trying to follow the Knowledge Base answer ID 1040. The part on Cloning your PC's MAC is the only part that's not working for me so far.)

if that is the case, the upgraded might have been corrupted. You may need to reflash the firmware... just do the same with the upgrade...

Hello could you guys allow the itunes to have an icon on the mac "tab" by where the time and battery is shown. So that people can press next or previous or pause without actually going in the itunes application incase we are on chrome or word etc.

In Step 5. I dont have a previous iTunes libraries folder. I have a folder called ITunes on my E drive but it only contains individual music files.
In step 6 Is the iTunes library refered to the same one as dragged to the desktop in step4 ?
In step 7 Is this itunes folder the original one or the new one ?
I dont understand what step 8 means at all.
Sorry for the dumb questions but the linked instructions dont make sense to me.

Why is my MBP serial number and model year no longer displayed in "about this mac" (have NOT replaced logic board)?

I have not replaced or manipulated the logic board (or any other hardware) on my mid-2012 13 inch MBP. Under the "about this mac" tab, the serial number is no longer displayed (it now states "unavailable") and the model year is also no longer displayed. I understand that I can find the serial number and model year several other ways, I am seeking to determine why this happened and if it could indicate further problems.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Man oh man. What a day. New symptoms again!
Lets start with the MBP dying in its sleep. I closed my MBP and left it for a few hours to come back to find it completely dead. Looked into this issue and with the help of the activity monitor cleaned up some things, turned off some sharing settings, got rid of some extensions, etc. Seems to have solved this issue.
Later on, I picked up my MBP while it was on with my left hand and the same display (horizontal lines), freeze, auto shutdown happened. Out of curiosity I tried to recreate the symptom. Sure enough, pressing (with little force) on the left side of the bottom case caused it to happen again. I researched this a bit and found several possible culprits (bad logic board, metallic sticker may cause shorts, bad RAM bank, google drive). The google drive one really surprised me, I removed google drive (worked for many people) and it did not fix the issue. A buddy had some good RAM for me to use today so I swapped it out and had the same issue. Decided to test the individual RAM banks and it turns out that the deepest bank must be faulty. Running with only one 4 gig stick in the outermost bank and the freeze, shutdown, beep issue is gone!
So, it seems I have fixed the dying in sleep problem and have a temporary work-around for the bad RAM bank. The SN issue remains.
I am going to try to find out what could make a RAM bank be faulty and if there is a way to repair it.
What are the chances that all this happens as soon as I try to find out why the SN is unavailable??

ok finally figured it out thanks to everyone for all the inputs and heres my final answer...
if uve run the combo update for 10.6.5 and were using a 10.6.4 system,and after that u run a software update the 10.6.5 still pops up and even after downloading and installing that ur system shows up as 10.6.4...
then go to the main library for the mac..look for updates and find the 10.6.5 package there..
run it manually from there restart and voila ull have 10.6.5 on ur system!!

Howto make tabs show up in the title bar

There was a version of safari that had the tabs in the title bar anyone know how to mac that happen on windows?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Curious if one needs to subscribe to .Mac to be able to use iSight? I guess I don't fully understand how.Mac works.

For more info about dot Mac's features, click the dot Mac tab at the top of this page. ONE of dot Mac's uses is that your dot Mac account name will work as your account name for iChat AV.
You can use dot Mac's Free Trial offer to get a free dot Mac account name. The Free Trial also lets you try out all of dot Mac's features to determine whether you want to pay to keep using them after the Free Trial period expires.
One reason that some people choose to use a paid dot Mac account is that iChat AV 3 offers encrypted chat between two paid dot Mac accounts for increased chat security.
Even if you ultimately choose not to pay for a dot Mac account, the dot Mac name you choose will continue to work as an iChat AV account name after the trial period has expired and dot Mac's many other features stop working.
Alternatively, if you do not want to try dot Mac, you can get a AIM Name here. You do not need to use AOL to use AIM. An AIM name is all that is necessary.
Either an AIM name or a dot Mac name will work fine as your iChat AV account ("buddy") name. In practice, an AIM name or a dot Mac name work interchangeably. However, when you add a new name to your "Buddy List" you must use the choices bar to indicate whether the name is an AIM name or a dot Mac name.
