Mac takes 15mins to turn on

My Mac is currently taking around 15mins to turn on. It starts OK with the apple logo then goes to a blank blue screen for anything upto 15mins then finally the normal desktop screen appears and evrything works fine. On one occasion only I had the same problem on shut down, where it sat displaying blue screen for a long period before switching off.
Any ideas please ?

• My mac takes a long time to open an internet page

My mac takes a long time to open on internet page and it's not the connection as all our other apple products in the house are working fine. Any suggestions?

Here are some troubleshooting steps.
Does this behavior persist if you: (1) Try it from a different user account, e.g., Guest? (2) Try it after starting up in Safe Mode ? (3) Try it after turning off all Safari Extensions? (4) Turn off all virus scanners, system cleaners, and third party optimizers? (5) Delete all malware, (6) Temporarily disable all internet plug-ins? (7) Make a burnt offering to Zeus?

16 mo young Mac Pro will not turn on. Dead. Why. No problems ever! Installed Yosemite and did not boot up after. Did that kill it? To young to die. What happened?what do I do now??????? Help!

Note that you don't have a Mac Pro as stated. Your profile says you have a MacBook Pro. Please clarify as they are entirely different computers. If nothing below works for you, then make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I'm new to the MAC world. I turned my computer on from 'sleep' mode, and a window was up stating that the IOS disk was full; asked me to force quit, then it just froze. It's been 2 hours. Help! I'm worried about losing photos/videos of my children. Im not sure if there's something special I need to do once I turn it back on; in the meantime, its still on... which I'm afraid the picture on the screen will burn into the screen. Does that happen on iMac's? Thx!

Try a hard reset. ( holding Power til it restarts)
Once to your desktop. Click the Apple icon >> About this mac >> More info>> Storage
Once you see what you have the most of. Try to see what you can delete.
Open up any folder>>all files>> or buy an external to store more data.
Once deleting make sure you empty your trash.
If you are new and its a new computer, you might need to bring it to a store for further assistence.

revert back to Maverick that is what I had to finally do. This was the worst upgrade I have ever seen. Hopefully you have Time Machine backup and can revert back. It was pretty painless except for a few issues. I will wait until Apple gets their stuff together on this upgrade or may never will.

• When I sync my iPhone 5 to my non Mac computer, do I turn my iCloud off?, When I sync my iPhone 5 to my non Mac computer, do I turn my iCloud off?

When I sync my iPhone 5 and i to my non Mac computer, do I turn my iCloud off?, When I sync my iPhone 5, and iPad 2. to my non Mac computer, do I turn my iCloud off?

I used the My Contacts Backup before I synced with my non-Mac computer. Thanks for the info.
1. I turned iCloud OFF on my iPad before syncing to be sure that my contacts, etc. WOULD update on my computer, without DUPLICATING on my iPad. Didn't work. I have 6 of every contact & 6 of every Calendar entry!
2. Then I synced my iPhone 5 WITHOUT turning iCloud off. Not only did I wind up with 6 of every contact on my iPhone, but also 6 of every Calendar entry! PLUS, I maxed out disc space on my computer, and barely made it through the sync!
Please tell me there is a way to eliminate all the duplicates in one complete motion! It took me months to get rid of them on all three devices after the last sync, before I could perform this sync.
Thank you!

it's fine if you leave it on.......i keep mine turned on while travelling with my macbook in my laptop bag and have had no issues.
if however, you plan on running around or jogging - it's better to turn it off.
but leaving it on will not hurt it.

Tanks dominic23, do you think that the dead battery can affect the macbook performance? I do alot of video work, and since the battery died i cannot do a smooth preview of my videos in premiere cs6, seems like a memory problem but it worked fine before the battery issue.

• IPhone 3GS takes 2hours+ to turn on from full dead?

So, I know this question gets asked very frequently, but I need to ask.
I have a iPhone 3GS second hand (given for christmas 2012). When my iPhone is fully dead, I obviously plug it into my charger, but the problem is, the phone takes 2hours+ to turn back on, and then, it only has like 6%.
I would really like to not get a new battery, just some fix.
The phone is no longer under warrantly.
Please help, this is so annoying (The iPhone is on charge right now btw, taken 1hours and 45minutes so far and hasent turned on)
Cheers.

The most likely fix is probably a new battery. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

My mac keeps trying to turn its self off as if I am holding down the power button and if I am not fast enough to press cancel it goes off completely

Siobhano,
have you tried resetting the System Management Controller on your MacBook Pro? (The particular method to do so on yours depends upon whether it has a removable battery or not.)

• My Mac book is randomly turning off.

Hi my Mac book is randomly turning off usually at a little bit under half battery. The computer is about two to three years old and I use it a lot. Why is it doing this and what should I do? I am taking it in to the apple store tomorrow. Around how much will it cost to get in.

An examination at the Apple store will not cost you anything. Be sure to make a reservation so you don't have to wait too long at the Genius Bar. If there is a repair required there may be a cost for that.
Have you tried resetting the System Management Controller? That would be the first step I would try for most power related issues.
Best of luck.
