  • Time and date reset to 2001 with Mac-Mini

    Hi all,
I am a newbie with Mac, I just got a new mac-mini some weeks ago from Apple store. Everything is ok, except that, when I start my mac-mini, the time is reset and the date is reset to year 2001. I first saw that settings were to start with a network device, so I changed it and set to start from hard disk. Doing this, I pressed "restart", and it worked, the time and date were no longer changed. However, if the mac-mini stays for some hours turned off, the next time I start it it resets again the date and time, and it alerts me that with this new time&date settings some programs may not work well. So I need everytime to go to time&date setting and to change manually them, which is indeed annoying.
How can I set definitely time&date, and why does the mac-mini resets them?
    Thanks
    mac-mini early 2006

    Hi,
    thanks for your answer.
I would eliminate the second option, cause it does not seem to go into shutdown, and moreover I have other PCs which do not suffer from power supply issues.
I asked a pc-shop and was told that maybe the small battery inside the motherboard is over and need to be changed. Is it possible? The mac-mini is just come out from the factory!
If your first option is true, I am afraid I need to send it to assistance at Apple!
    Thanks a lot
    Bye

  • Why is my macpro reseted time and date?

Ok,eventually my macpro reseted his date and time to something about 2001... The point is,that i bought this laptop from a friend few months ago, and i even forgot to ask for a login password, and after that and didnt even consider reseting users. The problem with the time and date change, came another problem,i cant even use safari regulary,on sites such is facebook,or even apple .com,without getting a verification security verisign, without blocking the site that i am trying to get in to. Only way is to "trust" that site is manually sign it as "trusted" with your login and a password from your mac. Which i dont know, even my friend dont know the password, the one that i bought it from. Just to make some things straight, its not stolen,i bought it from an original owner,no matter how awkward this situation looks like. Thanks in advance for a any ideas.

    Hi all
I have the same problem. When I put the touch to sleep, it seams that during the sleep phase, the time stands still and after power it on again, the time & date is reseted to the default settings.
Hope someone have an idea or a solution for this problem.
    Cheers, istvan72

  • When I did 7.1 update on iPhone five my reminders no longer works correctly it automatically erases the time and date that I requested

Can somebody tell me why my reminders no longer work correctly on 7.1 update on iPhone five every time I post a reminder it would delete the time and date of the reminder and my reminders do not go off.

Remove Office 2008 for Mac using Microsoft deinstall procedure. Reinstall Office 2008 for Mac.  If there are updates, apply them. Using Disk Utility, verify/repair permissions on your boot drive.
Does Office for Mac 2008 now work correctly? If not, you may want to repeat the above first sentence, and then update to Office for Mac 2011, and apply the latest (14.4.8) update which has Yosemite fixes.

  • TIme and Date keep changoing

I am running the New 21.5 iMac with 10.6.1 and bootcamp with windows 7. My time and date keep changing, going forward 2-3 days and changing from AM to PM. This happens when I boot into Windows 7 or put it to sleep. I tried setting it to use the Apple NTP server and setting it manually, but neither keep it correct. Also, this is another issue, the display drivers do not offer the highest or correct resolution in Windows 7, it only shows a generic VGA display adapter in device manager.
    TIA for any help!

    Hello d:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I do not use Windows on my Macs (and have no intention of doing so). Having said that, there is a forum for people who do here:

  • Importing video help! Need Time and date to show up on screen...

SOMEBODY HAS TO HAVE AN ANSWER!
Okay, little background... I just got a new Mac book pro lab top. First time apple user. Difficult to learn, but learned fast. I am working with IMovie HD program, got the hang of it. I have a Cannon ZR50 camcorder, mini DVR tape. Camera has DV,S, USB, AV etc.. port outs. Hooked it up to lab top to import video to lab top to edit footage add sound etc... to later burn to DVD via IDVD program
BTW: I used a DV to Firewire cable to load up footage.
PROBLEM I AM HAVING. is when I'm importing my video to the computer, time and date stamp from my camcorder's screen does not show up on Mac screen. It gets lost when importing. How I view it on my camcorder (SHOWING TIME/DATE INFO ON FOOTAGE TAKEN) is how I would like to view it after importing it to lab top to later edit ad sound tracks etc... If I hook up my camcorder to a VHS or TV, to record on tape of footage taken, Time/Date stamp of footage shows up and records on tape with no problem.
I spoke with a lot of people on this issue. Everyone refers me to someone else. I can't get an answer for something in my eyes is so simple. They all said " Why would you want the time and date stamp to show up on your footage anyway" Well I would like it to be that way. Topic got down to three things that might solve problem. 1. Need better video/editing software. 2. Need Digital Analog capture device. 3. Need new camcorder. I've been working on this problem for a day or so. It's getting rough for help. Any information on this problem would be great. If you need any more info on my issue please do not hesitate to Pm me. Thanks

    Hi SIZ4SK:
    Welcome to discussions!
You can't do that with iMovie but you can with a bit of help from a third party...
What you really need is this free plugin from TriX Software:
    DVFileDateCM
    http://www.trixsoftware.com/DVFileDateCM.html
Let me know if this helps or not.

  • Ibook G4 shuts down unexpectedly and resets time and date

More and more frequently my iBook will shut down completely unexpectedly when not plugged in. This happens regardless of how much battery life it has or it claims to have (80%, 40%, 20%, 12%). It will not start up again from battery only. When I plug the computer and restart it, it has reset time and date to Wed March 31 1969, 19.31 pm. It alerts me that the time is set to before 2001 and this may lead applications to behave erratically.
Is this normal? Why is this happening?
I have a few months left of my APP, but that doesn't cover battery related problems, right?

Hi astaver and welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you are still using the original battery from a nearly 3 yrs old iBook then it is almost certain that the battery has reached the end of its useful life. The symptoms you describe more or less confirm this.
To check on battery health go to the Apple Menu>About this Mac>More Info>Power>Battery and copy/paste the info into a reply.
You can also download and install Coconut Battery which gives a GUI to the same info.
You are right in assuming that Applecare doesn't cover you for a dead battery of this age but you might like to see if you qualify under the iBook & PowerBook G4 - Battery Exchange Program.
    Good luck,
    Adrian

  • Looking at FOCUS POINTS changes Time and Date

When I select VIEW FOCUS POINTS it changes the Time and Date information in the Metadata. I have seen it happen twice now. The images were taken with a Nikon D90 while in Australia. The first time that I noticed this I was in Hawaii and just looking at the FOCUS POINTS changed the Date and Time to Hawaii time. It happened again in Maryland and the time zone was changed to Eastern Daylight Time. To put the images back in the proper place I have had to change the DATE and TIME.
    Has anyone seen this?
    Roger

    Thanks Tony,
    Did you try this:
Shoot a photo with your camera set to your local time.
Import into your Mac set to the same local time.
    Quit Aperture
    Restart
Set the time on your Mac to another time zone.
    Open Aperture.
    Open the photo.
    View the Focus Points
Then see if the time metadata is changed.
Mine changes and the place of the photo in the line-up of my folder changes.
It still does it after I updated to Aperture 3.0.3 from the 3.0
I know this is a lot of steps in the test process, but this is how it happens for me.
If this doesn't work I'll have to look into a new Nikon for you and a flight to Hawaii.
    Cheers,
    Roger

  • How do I make the time and date stamp correct for my documents, songs in itunes, etc.

No matter when I add a song or save a document it says it was added/saved on 1/5/2011. It would be great if somehow I could get back the dates and times that things were added, but I know that may be impossible. I just want a way to have the correct time and date stamp from now on. Finally it wasn't always like this, when I first got the computer everything was correct, I just started noticing it. Additionally my clock is correct, so I don't understand why things aren't saved according to the clock. Thanks in advance

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM

  • I have to reset time and date after booting

My mac pro cannot hold date and time.
so far, I have replaced the pram battery and done the pram reset several times.
at first i noticed that the sys pref panes were unlocked when I went in to change the time and date but I have since cured that in sys pref/security.
the governing factor seems to be wetherr or npt is a revoot or completely cold boot (mains power switched completely off)
the expected message comes up i.e. " your system clock is set to a time and date before 1.1.2008 some progs may bave erratically blah blah "
the actual time has reset to 1.1.2001 ( dont know if that is significant but mentioned it just in case).
So, if i just shut the machine down and then boot it up again, no probs
    if i restart, no probs
shut down and pull the plug ??   1dt, Jan 2001
    would appreciate some advice

  • Convert  DV-AVI file from the sony camcorder into MPEG2 with time and date

I want to capture or convert a raw DV-AVI file from the sony camcorder into MPEG2 format...this i want frame by frame conversion and i also want the metadata i.e. time and date to be captured at the same time when the conversion is done....so i want to know that which is the JAVA tool available for that ?
pls.. kindly reply mi on the emaiID: [email protected] my contact no. is:09869256073
    with regards,
    nilesh hardikar

I read a whole bunch of random responses to similar questions ... here's some
Try opening the file in iMovie
Try changing the filename extension to ".dv"
    Here's an interesting one: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6172027
But my personal favorite idea is to just re-export the file from a PC in a better supported codec
(BTW If you don't have access to a PC then you can easily install Bootcamp on your Mac .... you can even download a free prerelease copy of Windows 7 to install on the Bootcamp partition if you're quick)

  • ATV 3 (a1469) 7.1 cannot get time and date

    Hello!
My Apple TV (3 gen) with software 7.1 is unable to get time and date and activate. As a consequence, ATV has very limited functionality because I can't even access iTunes or iCloud.
I tried recovering ATV by plugging it to the compuer using iTunes (on both PC and Mac), tried to connect ATV to another wi-fi network, tried plugging ethernet cable.
"time.apple.com" is accessible from my network, ping goes well.
What can I do to fix it?

I tried both leaving settings on default values and setting correct places, didn't change anything.
I also tried to downghrade firmware to earlier versions but failed due to "unknown error".

  • HT4897 Regarding SENT MSG data time and date

    Hello
I was very surprised when I went to print off eveal SENT email messages, only to find that the print off DID NOT include the time and date that the email was sent.  It did say "sent 2 days ago" . . . But the print off did not note the date I printed it ??
I need to rely on this data for legal etc . . .
Is this common to me.com ICloud emails ? Because, if so, I will have to move my emails back to GMAIL . . . After trying to consolidate my emIles to me.com.
Is anyone else having this problem ?
    Thank you

I've been seeing this problem too.
I just send an email from the .Mac web interface and the email did have a date field when it was in my Mail In Box. But when I deleted the email, and it moved to my Trash, the date field disappeared.
