Mac to Mac remote desktop

I have a new intel Imac. Is there a tool to remotely connect to another Imac?Something like remote desktop would be perfect. Yes I am a newbie.

Hi, Robert.
There are a variety of apps for this purpose based on Virtual Network Computing (VNC).
Search MacUpdate or Version Tracker for vnc.
The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings can be helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff.
Good luck!

  • RD Gateway issue from Mac Remote Desktop client - 503 RPC Error: c0021012

I have an employee who is able to use the Mac Remote Desktop client to connect to her office PC via RD Gateway, but after a short time she consistently has her connection dropped with a
503 RPC Error: c0021012.  I've researched this a little and apparently it refers to an expected shutdown condition (RPC_P_CONNECTION_SHUTDOWN) rather than a true RPC "exception".  Also, the error almost always occurs exactly
10 minutes after the connection is established, so I'm wondering if a timeout is occurring due to a heartbeat/keepalive not getting through, the expiration of a token or credential, or something similar(?).  Any help would be appreciated, here's a section

    Hi,
Is there any error occur on the RD Gateway server? Please make sure that RPC, RPC Locator and RPC Endpoint Mapper service are running on the server. Also, please make sure that the RD gateway
server does not reach the maximum number of connections.
    Thanks.

  • Where is the connection information stored for Mac Remote Desktop?

I want to restore Mac Remote Desktop connection information from a Time Machine backup to a new Mac.  On the new Mac, I've installed Remote Desktop from the App Store and installed all the files found in
    ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.rdc.mac from
a Time Machine backup.  But I don't see my old connections.  I also don't see any connection information in my Time Machine backup here
    ~/Documents/RDC Connections.
Where is the connection information stored?

The path is correct. You could try to get an console log during application launch. This log might give you information why the information is missing.

  • Feature request for Mac Remote Desktop client.

Wouldn't be great to have folders or groups in the Mac Remote Desktop Client.
I am finding that I have more and more Remote Desktop saved connections and storing them in collapsible groups or folders would be great.

    Hi Bill,
Thanks for your feedback, will pass this request to product group for future research and releases.
Thanks for your understanding and Support!

  • Mini Mac Remote Desktop and Elgato Video Capture Stick

I have 10 Mini Macs simultaneously capturing video via a Elgato Vapture Stick.
Instead of having 10 monitors, keyboards, and mice, I wish to control the Mini Macs by remote desktop. The problem is the Mini Macs won't refresh the video overlay if there is no monitor directly attached to them. I can establish a remote desktop but I can't see the video being captured in the Elgato capture window. As soon as I attach a monitor to the Mini Mac with the Elgato Capture Stick, then then the video is displayed correctly on the remote desktop. The goal is just to have one monitor on the Mini Mac with the remote desktop.

Actually, a slightly more recent version - 3.4.3 (6308) - is downloadable here

... directly from the Elgato support website.

  • Can Aussie GP's use a Mac remote desktop to login to works Medical Director

My wife is a GP. Her practice runs Medical Director. The other doctors are able to log in from home over the net from their home windows computers. I rang Medical Director to ask if there was anything stopping her using the remote desktop from our home mac:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/ MISC/RDC2.0Public_Betadownload.xml
They gave me a very abrupt no, and said we need to buy a windows machine (something I am loath to do).
Are there any GP's out there using their macs at home to login over the net using a program like this..... or do we really have to do what the Medical Director people say - and use a Windows Machine?
    Thanks for your help.

Chances are the director is full of it, and doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Find out what software the other doctors are using from home and perhaps we can find you a Mac version of it.

  • Mac Remote desktop redirection doesn't work on 8.0.5

After the Microsoft Remote Desktop for MAC update on March 19th (8.0.5) folder redirection does not work properly. It worked fine on the 17th before the update. Please advise as some of my clients do use macs..
Updated: I need to specify that not working means. The drive redirects, but no folders show up at all. If i try to create a folder on the redirected drive we get an error 0X8000FFFF: CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I have tried multiple usb drives, SD cards and more.
Even NTFS formatted usb drives will not work.

    Hi,
Firstly, would you please provide us the log file after you reproduce the issue to see if we can find some clues.
In addition, please try to uninstall and reinstall the app.
    Thanks.

  • Mac Remote Desktop Printing not working

    I have the following:
    TS 2k3

RDP 2.0 client for the Mac
I have installed the printer drivers on the server
The RDP client has the printer associated with it.
Printing fails. I'm thinking it has to do with the ports associated with the printer driver on the server

  • Dymo Labelwriter printers not working via Mac Remote Desktop connection into Windows Server 2008

I'm having a really hard time getting Dymo labelwriters (models 335 turbo and 450 turbo) to work over a remote desktop connection and I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
To briefly describe the situation, I'm working for a Doctor's office, moving their IT from a remotely-hosted environment where employees connect to their Windows Server 2008 virtual machines (hosted off-site) via Windows 7 machines through Microsoft's remote
    desktop software.
The new setup will have new servers running in-house instead of remotely and will be based on Apple's Mac Mini machines running Windows 7 for some tasks through Parallels virtualization
software running directly on each employee's Mac Mini.
We have 3 of the Dymo 450 Turbo products and one 330 Turbo, each connected directly to a Mac Mini.
Here's the problem: I have Microsoft's Remote Desktop software running on the Macs natively, connected to each employee's virtual machine on the remote server for now, until the time comes to make the switch to using the new in-house server. The remote desktop
software works fine - employees are able to connect successfully and access their desktops fine. I have the "Forward Printing Devices" option checked in the Microsoft Remote Desktop app so that the hosted virtual desktops can see the local labelwriters.
However, the Dymo Label software running on the remote server will not recognize that a labelwriter is present.
If I go to the Printers and Devices window on the remote server, the labelwriter shows up fine, named "dymo labelwriter 450 turbo (redirected 10)" however running the Dymo Label software gives an error, "Dymo label says no printer connected:
dymo label printer requires a dymo label printer be installed and connected ..."
To try and narrow down the cause of the problem, on the same Mac, I ran Windows 7 via Parallels and set up a new remote desktop connection within that Windows VM. Just to be clear, instead of using the RDC software running in the Mac OS, this new connection
is using a Windows virtual machine running on the same Mac, with the RDC being established from within that Windows VM. Again, I forward printing devices and the labelwriter shows up in Printers and Devices on the remote server as "dymo labelwriter 450
turbo (redirected 10)" This time, the Dymo Label software recognizes the attached labelwriter and runs fine.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give on why, as far as the remote server is concerned, a forwarded labelwriter from Microsoft remote desktop running natively on a Mac isn't recognized
but it is if forwarded from within Windows, bearing in mind that the labelwriter shows up on the remote server in both instances and is called the same name in devices and printers.
Sorry for the long-winded question. I hope you can help me.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Firstly please check whether you have driver capable for your printer with MAC MRD. Also I would like you to check with updated MRD version 8.0.9 for MAC OSX.
    https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id715768417?mt=12
Because as you have commented it can work with windows RDP, so please also try to contact Dymo Labelwriter printer and inquire regarding the issue.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • MAC Remote Desktop Keyboard shortcuts

It drives me crazy when in Mac I use cmd+c cmd+v while when using Remote Connection I need use crtl+c crtl+v.
Parallels in theirs solution support both combinations in Windows.
Can you add option to Remote Connection for Mac to personalize (redirect) shrotcuts ?

    Hi Rafal,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can try below 2 methods, if it success for you.
    Method 1:
You can set universal keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Shortcuts > All Applications, you can enter menu values (Save, Copy, Paste, etc) and then assign new key combinations to
    them.
    Method 2:
    1. On the RDC menu, click Preferences, and then click
    Keyboard.
    2. In the Mac column, double-click the keyboard shortcut that you want to change, and then press the combination of keys that you want to use instead.
NOTE:  The new combination of keys must include one modifier key and at least one additional key, such as CONTROL + F10 .

  • Is there a way to access my Mac via remote desktop from a Windows machine?

Hi, I'm lookinf for a way to connect from work to my Mac at home. I can do this using VNC and it works, but it is freaking slow! I also dont want to use the Chrome remote dekstop plugin or TeamViewer, there must be a RDP client that can go from Windows to Mac.
Does any of you have some recommendation!?
    Cheers Thomas

Have you tried enabling Screen Sharing & File Sharing on the Mac?
Looks like only EDC client for Macs...

  • Remote Desktop Client For Mac?

Hi! I wanted to get the remote desktop client by MS onto my iBook g4. I am running leopard, and the webpage says it is a universal application, but when I download the .DMG the Installer application comes up and tells me I need an Intel Processor. Anybody know what's going on here? And does anyone know if the 1.0.3 version will run under Leopard? If it does, would I need to download stuffit expander and Apple Disc Copy like it says, or is that built into Disk utility at this point? And would I need to download the .bin or the .hqx files? Thanks, any help will be appreciated!

  • How to use remote desktop client in mountain lion

How to use remote desktop client in mountain lion.
I want to connect my other system(ubuntu) using mac remote desktop client, But i could not locate remote desktop client in moutain lion.

In Ubuntu 12.xx use Dash to find "Desktop Sharing" and set the preferences, including requiring a password.
Then in Ubu use System Settings > Network to determine your Ubu machine's IP address, such as 192.168.1.13.
On the Mountain Lion Mac do Finder > Go > Connect to Server   and enter:  vnc://192.168.1.13  or whatever your IP is.  Enter the password that you used in the Ubu Desktop Sharing setup, when asked.
On the Ubu machine answer the question that pops up asking for permission to connect.  Your Ubu screen will now show up on the Mac, and you can remote control it.   Here I am running "Octave" (a math program) on the Ubu machine, remotely.
Works great!  BTW, you can do this from an iPad too, using a VNC client such as Mocha VNC Lite.  You can even run both remotes simultaneously.
    Good luck.

  • Remote Desktop not listed in Applications, but installation says it's already installed

When I try to install Apple Remote Desktop, I get a message that says a more current version is already installed. I look in Applications and see no reference to Remote Desktop.
    1) Does Max OS X Lion 10.7.3 come with Remote Desktop installed, as some documentation suggests?
    2) If so, where is it?
I'm trying to remote from macBook Pro to a windows server via ip address

If you are connecting from a Mac to a Windows server,
you should really be using Microsoft Remote Desktop Mac.
    Get it here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/remote-desktop-client
As far as Apple Remote Desktop, each Mac ships with the
server.  It is the client, what you use to connect to another
mac, that requires a download and is $79.99 at the MacApp Store.
The server function is integrated into OSX and is not visible as an
    app.

  • Can Thunderbird and Lightning be installed and used as a Windows Server 8 r2 remote desktop application.

Can Thunderbird and Lightning be successfully installed as a remote desktop (terminal server) application on Windows Server 8 r2? In this scenario, users would access Thunderbird and Lightning via Windows (or Linux or Mac) remote desktop connection. Each user has there own home folder and profile on remote desktop server. I want to make sure that an individual user will be able to maintain individual email accounts, folders, settings, etc. as if Thunderbird and Lightning were installed on a stand alone PC. Any tips or things to watch out for in this scenario would be helpful.

There appears to be a problem with Firefox 20 with UNC paths when using roaming profiles on a server.
