Mac to PC computer-to-computer connection

I'm visiting my folks and I've established a wireless computer to computer network from my mac to their pc. It connected fine, however I cannot connect to the internet from my mac. The pc is connected to DSL via an ethernet line, and I selected to allow its internet to be shared by other computers. What can I do?

Hi Richard, Tiger doesn't do File Sharing, (computer to computer), and Internet Sharing very well together. I'm not quite sure how the PC handles it, but for Internet Sharing they will still have different Subnets.
Did you create this c2c on the PC or the Mac? Are you seeing shared docs on the PC?
The Mac may not be getting DNS either, so Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

What is the IP of the PC's Wireless and the IP of the Mac's Airport? Don't post the PC's outside/internet IP of the Ethernet connection.

Call Apple anyway. If the device was ever registered with then they will have the serial # on file and can look you up by other info such as your name or phone number.
To re-enable an iPad any computer with iTunes should work. However, if your data was not backed up to iCloud you will not be able to access it until you get back to your home computer.

My MAC mini looses the wi-fi connection to a Belkin N wireless router when it goes to sleep or shut down. I have to re select the network when restarting or waking the computer up. I think this just started with Lion. My iPod and iPad have no trouble.

Thank you BGreg. That is what I have been doing, and then it works just fine. I think it was doing the same thing in the previous version of Lion. I may be incorrect about that. I upgraded to 10.7.3 a few weeks ago, and then last week I reloaded the combo update, hoping it would help. Not so. Thank you for letting me know it is a common problem. I have tried permissions in Disk Utilities, and in Macaroni, both at least 4 times, plus numerous restarts. Nothing Improves. It still can not find the internet when it wakes up or gets up.

When the display turns off, it is not clear whether the computer has halted, or whether the display subsystem has failed.
Those tests determine whether:
a) Your Mac software had stopped working OR
b) Only the display had stopped working
If the pressing the Caps lock light on the keyboard lights the Caps Lock light on the keyboard, some software is still running -- your Mac has not halted.
If pressing Control-Eject on the keyboard, followed by the Return key shuts down your Mac, the software was still running.

okay, try option-clicking on the speaker icon on the top of your screen. That should bring up a list of sound output options. including headphone. You could try messing around with Audio MIDI. It may be possible that the thing is still stuck inside the headphone jack. Careful use of a toothpick may get it unstuck. I dunno, I've never had a problem with the headphone jack. If all else fails, call Apple or take 'er in for an appointment

I have found that Lion is slower to connect to WiFi when awakening than were previous Mac OS X versions. However, the WiFi connection usually takes less than 15 seconds unless a Time Machine backup was interrupted when my computer was put to sleep. When this happens and the computer awakens, the Time Machine backup attempts to continue prior to the WiFi connection having been made. Until the Time Machine backup fails due to its inability to connect to my Time Capsule because of no WiFi connection, or I stop it manually, the WiFi connection will not occur. So if Time Machine backups are on, you may be experiencing this bug which I have reported to Apple.

If you want to erase the disk, reinstall Mac OS X and your Mac didn't come with DVDs or you have OS X Mountain Lion or Lion:
1. Press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting.
2. Open Disk Utility, choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.
3. Install Mac OS X.
If your Mac came with DVDs:
1. Insert the OS X DVD that came with the Mac and press C key while your Mac is starting.
2. Go to Utilities > Disk Utility, choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.

'No Computer Connection' error message when saving memory card pics

The printer is an HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m connected as a network device to an infrastructure communication mode wireless network.
There are no problems printing documents.
Documents have also been scanned and sent to specific computers on the network in the past.
So it certainly seems that there is a computer connection.
When a memory card holding pictures is inserted into the wireless printer and one tries to save the memory card pictures from the printer to a network computer without a memory card slot, one gets the error message, 'There is no computer connection'.
The Wireless Network Test Report Diagnostic Summary is all PASS with Very Good signal strength.
The Diagnostic Utilities were useless to me. I can only guess at what the problem might be because it isn't specifically mentioned as a possibility.
I tried turning the firewall off but it made no difference.
The documentation mentions UDP Port 427 but doesn't state the protocol to be entered into the slot for Windows Firewall.
There is a list of exception files but no detailed information on how to add them as exceptions into Windows Firewall.

Try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

How do I get 5.1 sound from iTunes on my computer connected to Bose T20?

I have my computer connected to a Bose T20 with an HDMI cable. I can get surround sound with movies, but not with iTunes. I only get stereo instead of 5.1.
I also have Apple TV connected to Bose and can get surround sound from iTunes when piped through Apple TV. Bose has told me to check the sound settings on my computer which I have done. The sound settings have 5.1 enabled.

Not sure what you are asking. A download is a download. what you do with the file afterwards is entirely up to you. If you mean to install Mac software on Win, then no, this can't be done. Furthermore you also would have to have a proper Win serial.

Internet -> AM300 -> WRT54G -- two Computer with Wifi connection

1. I have two Computer Connected to Wifi at WRT54G and can browse Internet.
2. I check both Intenet IP in http://whatsmyip.org, Both have same internet IP.
Question:
Can I have different Internet IP for each Computer?
