Mac to tv cable

Hi I was in a pc shop today and saw a pc to tv cable (it also works with macs) do you think this cable would allow you to watch imovie on your TV (which you can then record to tape or dvd) if anyone has tried this or has any theories, will they let me know? Thanks, Steph x

Hi b
What Mac are You using ?
I've a PoowerBook G4 and it has S-video out. This I connected to a SCART
plug/adaptor with S-video in. This to my VCR and this to a TV. After fiddeling
around a bit suddenly I got a color pictur of 2:ond screen of my PB on the TV.
So just for the fun of it I put a DVD into the Mac. Moved the movie widow over
to the part visibly on the TV and let it play.
Sound comes from my Mac.
Then I keept on working with an Excel sheet during watching the movie.
Fun
Some Mac's has a S-video out.

You can connect two Macs with an ethernet wire, or conect two Macs using Firewire if one is placed in target disk mode, but that is it.

  • Mac Plus keyboard cable

For a Mac Plus keyboard cable, can I substitute a phone cable or is the Mac jack wiring specialized?

    Hi,
    >Is everyone agreed that phone cable needs modification?
If I place the two plugs of a Macintosh Plus keyboard cable next to each other (side by side) on a table, both pointing in the same direction, with both tabs up, the wires are arranged as follows:
    yellow-green-red-black  yellow-green-red-black
Placing the two plugs of a handset cable from one Swedish telephone the same way, results in the following:
    yellow-green-red-black  black-red-green-yellow
Both cables use the same type of plug (4P4C).
As shown by this simple comparison, at least these two cables are different.
See also the 'Data port' text in this article:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4P4C#4P4C
In the case of the Swedish telephone handset cable above, it appears as if turning one of the two plugs 180 degrees (using a crimping tool) would result in a cable that could be used for a keyboard. However, this is not a recommendation. Proceed at your own  risk if you decide to carry on with any experimental modifications. I have not tested any modified cables.
You should check whether randomly chosen telephone handset cables in your country have the same wiring/colours as the one I examined.
Jim may also want to verify the wiring and colours with another Macintosh Plus keyboard cable.

  • Ati radeon 9800 pro mac edition power cable install

radeon 9800 pro mac edition power cable is a 6 pin arrangement on the one I have.  What cable do i need in order to attach it to a late 2005 G5 2.0 dual core power source?

The Radeon 9800 Pro is an AGP graphics card.
It CANNOT be used in a Late 2005 PCIe graphics G5.
IF you have an AGP graphics model of G5, using a Molex splitter is how it is done.

  • How to transfer files from PC to Mac using Ethernet cable?

I am a brand new PC to Mac convert and loving it. I'm just having trouble transferring my files from my PC to my MacBook Pro. I have my PC and Mac connected with an ethernet cable. I'm just not sure what steps I need to take from there. I guess I have to turn on file sharing on my PC but I'm pretty much lost from there. Is there a tutorial or how-to on how to do this? I tried the one on the Apple site but it didn't really help that much

See if one of these methods will work for you:

The Finder cannot complete the operation because some of the data in "smb://5.173.180.164/SharedDocs" could not be read or written. (Error code -36).
The folder i specified is open for sharing and i've run the network wizard on the PC. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong.
I appreciate any help you can give.

You can connect them via ethernet cable. It will work fine.
No special software needed on either side.

  • HT1998 I have what I believe, though I am not certain, an Airport Extreme 1st generation. My internet speeds on my hardwired pc are running in half and a bit higher on my Mac Pro. Cable claims it is a problem with the router since I can bring the PC speed

Bear with me please as I have never used the community before. I have an Airport Extreme 1st generation at least I think it is a 1st generation. My PC is hardwired and my Mac Pro, obviously wireless. I have 50/8 mbps service but the speeds on my PC run around 20/8 and 30/8 on the Mac. Cable says it is a problem with the airport since my PC speeds rise to 50 when the airport is disconnected. Does anyone know what to do?

The simplest way would be to perform a "soft" reset on the AEBS. This type of reset will temporarily disable all of the AEBS's passwords up to five minutes. This should give you ample time to access the AEBS with the AirPort Utility to change it.
If you don't want to actually change the password, then you can possibly retrieve the password from the OS X Keychain, as follows:
Run the Keychain Access utility found in \Applications\Utilities
In the category column (on the left side of the utilities' window), select "All Items."
In the right column look for your Network Name. It will have a "Kind" of "AirPort network password."
Double-click on your network name listing.
    Click on "Show password."
    Enter your Mac's administrator's password
Your wireless network's password should now be displayed.

  • I am having problems sncing my iphone4 with i tunes.       I have just changed from a windows to mac and from cable sync to iCloud.  All works from imac to iPhone.  but from phone to imac only partially works.

I canged name of calender on iphone and it has changed on the imac.  But none of my previous entries or new entries are going to the iphone.  If I add on icloud then the entry goes to both phone and imac.  I have tried taking calendar off icloud and saving to phone and then reinstating and merging, but nothing changes.  My contacts seems to be working fine.  That also previously was synced by cable.
Anybody able to help me please

WMA files are 'window media audio' files, which is a Microsoft format. If you want to add them to your iTunes library on your Mac then you will need to convert them into a compatible format first. If you still have your windows machine then iTunes for Windows can convert them from WMA to MP3 format : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24158701#24158701
Or try a search for, for example, 'convert wma to mp3' to find programs to convert them.

*The Soundtrack Pro installer does not install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is required for MPEG-2 file playback and the Compressor Preview function. If you need the ability to import and playback MPEG-2 content, you can purchase the downloadable QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is available from the Apple Store.
I launched my QTPro and found this information in the Help Menu... more infor here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/

  • Nothing happens when connect iTouch to mac - is the cable already dead?

Last week when I connected my (4 week old) touch to the right-side usb port, nothing happened, but then it connected fine to the left-sided port; bit funny I thought, but got on with my syncing etc. Today, nothing happens when I connect on either side. Do I have a problem with the USB cable?
Thanks in advance for any help...

Macs can get USB errors just like any other computer. Try restarting or shutting down and restarting and then try syncing again.

  • Migration assistant from windows to mac using Ethernet cable

I have just bought a year old MacBook Pro and have been trying to transfer date from my windows laptop to the mac using the migration assistant.
The first time I tried this process it tried to do it via wifi and the information message stated it would take 28+ hours, but the connection was lost after a few hours and the process stopped.
I would like to restart this using an Ethernet cable from the windows laptop to the mac, but when migration assistant starts it automatically defaults to wifi and doesn't give me an option of choosing to use an Ethernet cable.
How can I force it to use this cable? Because it will take too long by using wifi.

  • How do I transfer files between mac using Thunderbolt cable?

I don't want to migrate the whole content from one mac to another.  I don't want the hassle of setting on one mac as a target disk.  I just want to be able to transfer the occasional file from my iMac to my MacBook Pro using the Thunderbolt cable.
I heard that Thuderbolt was superfast so I shelled out crazy money to buy a 2 meter piece of cable in the hope of making my life more productive. But it seems to be far from super straightforward!
Both Macs have Thunderbolt ports and are running Mavericks so it should not be too complicated.  What am I missing?
I read a blog that you can connect the two Macs through the Network Preferences.  Thunderbolt Bridge appears on both Macs - some times both status lights are red, sometimes one is yellow and one is red, sometimes both are yellow.  Do both lights have to be at least yellow before data can be transferred?  Or should they glow green?
Do I need to change the settings?

Be sure Ethernet is listed first in System Prefs > Network.
If it isn't, click the "gear" icon and select Set Service Order.

  • How to access files between two Macs via Firewire cable?

I would like to access and copy some files from my PowerMac to my Mac mini. I am using a Firewire cable to connect the two computers, and I get the Firewire symbol floating around on my monitor, but nothing beyond that, and I don't know what the next step is to get to the desktop. Help?
(I also posted this question as part of an already "answered" post by another user... sorry for posting this twice.)

    Hi BDAqua,
Sorry I dropped this thread last month; I would still love to figure this out, but haven't had time to deal with it since then. (In the meantime, I copied the files from the old computer - G3 - to CDs, in order to access them on the computer I use now - Mini/OS Tiger.) Anyway, so I'm writing to say thanks, and hopefully I will pick this thread up again soon... and hope you'll be around to help at that point.
(By the way, the floating firewire icon was the only thing that came up on the monitor, and nothing I did brought me to the desktop: no key, click or prayer did anything to move beyond that floating icon. So, I couldn't get an orange FW icon, or any HD icon at all, since there was only the floating icon, and nothing else...)
    Thanks again.
