Mac unable to read Sims Seasons DVD

Hey everyone.
Today, I got the Sims Seasons.
When I insert the disc into the drive, my mac tries to read it. After that, it reads it again, and again, and then ejects the cd by itself. I tried it with another cd and it reads it fine.I tried out the Sims cd on my macbook,it reads it without any problems as well. What can I do?

If it is new, it may just have a light film left over on the surface from the manufacturing process that is keeping your iMac's drive from seeing it.
Try gently cleaning it, as per > www.ghpl.org/_files/DVD_clean_2011.pdf and then try it again.

  • Unable to read SIM card after latest update

I downloaded the most recent android update on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on 12/10.  Since that update, i've gotten the message "Unable to read the SIM card.  Please restart your phone to read the card" a half-dozen times.  The timing between the messages is sparatic (one time it was a few hours between messages, another time a full day, then 12 hours the third time, etc...).
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  Is there a simple fix to this (such as just getting a new SIM card from Verizon)?  I'd like to think that the update wasn't the culprit of this, but I've had my Note 4 since the initial release, and it's only started happening since the last update.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I'm having the same "Unable to read the SIM card" issue. My phone is less than two months old, the unable to read SIM card issue started about a week after I purchased the phone. That was followed by a host of erratic, sporadic issues to the phone becomes unusable and the only way to temporarily fix it is to remove the battery for a few seconds.  I've gone through the factory reset with Verizon reps where I purchased the phone from as well as with a Verizon online Chat representative. In a nutshell, I got a ticket to send the phone back to Samsung in Plano, Texas to get the phone fixed, I am going to do that today because this problem is ridiculous.

  • Mac Pro unable to read Digital Copy DVD's

I have a Mac Pro and have been trying to redeem some digital Copies that are included in DVD's. When I put the digital Copy disc into my drive, it spits it back out after about 30 secs. I've never had this prob before and it's only with these kinds of discs. Everything else works fine. I've also tried reading Digital Copy discs that I've already used without a problem and it won't read those now either. I've reset PRAM and all that. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Unable to read/write CDs/DVDs

I have a Sony DVD RW DW-U10A combo drive. I have been unable to write CDs for a few weeks now, but manage with my MacBook. Now however, the drive in the iMac doesn't see either blank or written CDs, or professionally produced CDs. This also applies to all DVDs.
The only, but major, change that I have made is to upgrade to Tiger. I cannot categorically link the problem with the upgrade.
Could this be the cause of the problem? What can I do to be able to read/write CDs while using Tiger?
How can I clean the CD lense if that is also contributing to the problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • My Mac Mini will read some commercial DVDs but not others.

I have a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I've had it for a couple of years now and just recently decided to run one of the video ports out to a wall mounted LCD TV for viewing both internet tv and DVDs. However, turns out my DVD player (SuperDrive, and rarely ever used ... maybe 10x since I bought the thing) won't read certain DVDs. For instance, it will mount and play Charlie Brown's Christmas, but not Pirates of the Caribbean. It appears to be a 'new dvd' vs 'old dvd' issue. Is that a real issue? Is there software I can install that would cause the drive to mount and play my newer DVDs? I'd appreciate any advice here. Thanks.

I have a new mac mini w/o superdrive but I can play all dvd's on the superdives in my MBP and my iMac. The MBP is new but the iMac is 2007 vintage. You may want to try cleaning the lens in the drive. Radio shack and others sell cleaning disks.

  • Matshita UJ-825 - Unable to read dual layer DVD+R

Haven't had any issues with my Matshita UJ-825 until now. Have a DVD+R DL full of photos, but the Matshita will not mount it. When I insert the DVD it sounds like the drive is working to mount it and then just spits the DVD back out. What's really strange, a co-worker has the same UJ-825 in a 12" Powerbook and he can mount the DVD, no problem. The only difference is his UJ-825 has firmware revision DAM5. Here's the specs under "System Profiler" for my drive:
    Firmware Revision: DBN7
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
I've read through A LOT of discussions similar to my problem, but none seem to have any answer. Thought I might try my luck. Any help is appreciated!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I understand some people think "googling" is the end-all solution to finding resolution on certain issues. But, I wouldn't have posted here if I hadn't tried searching on Google to begin with.
On that note, does anybody have other ideas beside searching Google?
I know that Matshita is a part of Panasonic, but a search there turned up nil, as well.
Anybody know if it's possible to copy the firmware from one Matshita and then somehow flash another Matshita with that firmware?

  • Unable to read/recognize burned DVDs?

I'm having some issues playing DVDs on my MDD G4. The computer did not come with a SuperDrive, but I installed one myself several years ago. (I'm not remembering the specific brand of the drive I used offhand, but can look it up if it matters.) I moved the ComboDrive the computer came with to the second drive bay.
I'm able to play CDs (store-bought and burned), and store-bought DVDs. But I don't seem to be able to play burned DVDs -- including a pro video I purchased and DVDs I burned myself with this very drive! The computer just doesn't seem to be able to recognize or read the discs, and ejects them (or simply does nothing and the disc doesn't show up in the finder). The problem exists with both drives.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
    Erin

I have a pretty similar problem. I burn a DVD-R with Toast Titanium 8 and right after i burn the DVD it mounts at the Desktop and it shows the data just right.
After I eject and re-insert the same DVD again ..... after several seconds, the drive ejects the DVD.
I have installed 2 drives, a superdrive (Pioneer DVR-160D) and a combo drive (Phillips CDD5301) and the same DVD does not show on both Drives.
If i take the same DVD to my older Powermac (G4-400) which have installed a superdrive (Pioneer DVR-150D) the same DVD mounts right and works without problems.
I really can't find how to resolve this problem.
    Thank you.

  • Macbook unable to read iDVD created DVDs

I've created a slideshow using iDVD. It plays just fine on my DVD player, but not on my Macbook. The computer drive reads commercial DVDs just fine, but also will not read DVDs I've made on a DVD recorder. The superdrive on the computer was replaced not too long ago as it was erratic, but it has been working fine since. Suggestions would be welcome.

what media brand and type are you using? Please tell me you are not using Memorex plus. I recommend Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R only for troubleshooting on this forum and burning to a disc image from the file menu within iDVD6 prior to burning to this recommended media at 4x or slower. Test said image with apple's dvd player app prior to using apple's disc utilities or toast to lower the burn speed. You cannot lower the burn speed with apple's iDVD6 alone. Good luck. Hope this helps but if not, come on back.

  • MacBook unable to read leopard upgrade DVD

I have a MacBoook I purchased in early 2007, I am currently using Tiger 10.4.11. Yesterday I bought Leopard 10.5.1 with the intention of upgrading Tiger to Leopard with no success. When I inserted the Install DVD my computer self-ejected the DVD before anything even came on the screen. I can play regular DVDS, but for some reason the Install Disk won't read... anyone know what may be causing this?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions:
The latest Leopard DVD is 10.5.4, so you have a very old version. Be sure it is a full install DVD and not an update DVD or one that came with a computer.

  • 10.4.11 Unable to read discs, CDs, DVDs, Install discs or Techtool disc?

The last time I was able to read a disc was when I called applecare right
before my extended warranty expired. They asked me to load the Install

Sounds like your optical drive might have failed. Can you get into an Apple sotre to have them take a look at it?

  • Unable to read DVDs in 10.3.9

I have Mac OS 10.3.9 and seem to be unable to read most DVDs, at least any commercial movie DVDs I have, even some I played before, I guess under 10.2!
The file system will not mount them. When I insert them, I receive a message that Mac OS X is unable to read any volumes and have the option to Ignore or Cancel.
I click Ignore and look at them with Disk Utility and it says the IO Content is DOSFAT16.
I am able to read the Mac OS X system DVDs.
How do I read these movie DVDs?

Recently I bought a DVD burner and popped it in my 10.3.9 machine, and (after installing Patchburn) it read DVDs just fine. Whatever's going on, it's not an OS issue. If it was, can you imagine the how much noise there would be about it? Again, there have been a few posts on the forums about it, but that tells us all something -- this is an isolated issue and not a general OS issue.
