Mac User Cannot Use Form Created in Windows Acrobat 9.0 Pro

I have created a form and emailed it to a Mac user.  He does not know what version of Acrobat he has or even if he is using a full version of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader (I tried to walk him through to check his version, but he could not find it).
He is using a laptop that is about 5 years old.
Anyway....I created this form in Acrobat 9.0 Pro.  It works great for me...when I type in the fields, the text falls perfectly on the lines; the autocalculate works perfectly, and the RESET button works perfectly.  When he opens the file, the text shows all below the lines, the autocalculate does not work at all, and neither does the RESET button.  He sent it to another person, and they too could not use the form.
I have enabled the PDF so it can be filled out by Reader users and it is not in PDF/A mode, but it still is not working for him.  I went to the library where they have a Mac and I was able to open it through Acrobat Reader 9 and again, I was able to fill the form out and it worked perfectly for me.
Would anyone be available (with a Mac) through email so I could send you the file to see if any Acrobat pros might be able to tell me what is wrong with it?  I am absolutely frustrated to the points of tears over this.  If you do not want to place your email here, I will give you mine so you can email me first ([email protected]); just let me know here that you are emailing me so I know to check email rather than check here.

He's probably not using either Acrobat or Reader. The Mac comes with a built-in PDF viewer named Preview and it has limited support for PDF forms. It even corrupts them when it saves. It should definitely be avoided. Fortunately Reader is freely available, you just have to get him to install it.

    In our environment we ONLY work with  “Windows AD”  accounts. (to keep users management very straight forward.)
    We do not get the procedure working with “Windows AD” account.
    Our procedures stops at Section:  “07.3 Add to VM”:
    The selected webi document, within the promotion Job, is not getting "checked in" in  Version Management.
    After that all other steps are useless.
    Windows AD user cannot use Promotion management, but Why?
    (If we use version managment on the individual webi report, with a windows AD user everyting works fine)

    In SAPBO4.1 we had to extend the properties of 2 services:
    AdaptiveJobServer and the AdaptiveProcessingServer.
    Now we can use windows active directory for promotion management,
    thanx.

    What levels of Acrobat are needed to use forms created in Acrobat Pro 9? I want to use my form as a job ticket but want to know what levels of adobe reader are needed for the end users to be able to fill out & submit the forms without any problems.

    Reader 7 and higher should be able to fill out forms and submit if the pdf format allows Reader 7 to fill out the form. However, without problems is a different issue. Submission of forms via email is ALWAYS a problem. It is always better to post the form on a website and have the form filled out on the web and have the data stored or sent to a database for further action.

    I know that ichat is compatible for video chats with other pc users who use aim, but does it work with other mac users who use aim?
    Everytime I try to chat with my friend, I get an error message when trying to start of a video chat.

    For a Bit of Clarity.
    AOL have their Instant Message App. referred to as AIM.
    Apple decided and did a deal with AOL that iChat could join their service Buddy Lists.
    On these Discussions we tend to refer iChat as Logging into AIM, as they are the servers that the Buddy Lists are held on.
    As iChat can also use Bonjour and Jabber, both of which have their own Buddy list window on your Mac. The Jabber side needs you to have a Jabber screen name - so again people differentiate between this and the AIM side.
    I would guess you friend is trying to make it clear that she is using the AIM side of iChat as opposed to the Jabber side.
    As has been said already, the Application side of things also tend to get referred to generically as "AIM" as well.
    The Mac version has stopped and 4.7 and will only Text chat.
    The PC side needs 5.9 to clearly Video or Audio chat with a Mac using iChat. (AIM 6.0 is not stable enough to A/V chat to iChat).

  • Cannot Open Form Created on Separate Thread After Closing

    My application communicates with a device that has several sensors.  As the sensors collect data, they send messages over the com port.  I have written a class to communicate with the device.  As the messages come in and are processed, the
    class raises events that the application responds to.
    The main window of the application handles the communication with the device and displays several statistics based on the data collected.  When the user presses a button on the device, a specific event is raised.  The main window create a separate
    thread and opens a child window.  When the child window is open, the user opens a valve to dispense the product.  As the product is dispensed, a flow meter connected to the device measures the volume of product dispensed.  The flow meter generates
    messages to indicate the volume dispensed.  I need to be able to send messages from the main window to the child window so that the child window displays the volume.  When the user is done, they close the valve dispensing the product and press the
    "End" button on the child window.  The child window then updates several variables on the main window, makes a couple of database calls to record how much product was dispensed and by whom and then closes.
    I need to run the child window using a separate thread as both windows need to be able to process commands.  If only one window has control the program doesn't work at all.  I have it figured out so that everything is working.  I can open
    the child window, dispense product, se the amount of product dispensed in the child window (the main window processes commands from the device and updates the label on the child window using a delegate), closes the window (using Me.Close()) and updates the
    main display with the updated data.  The problem is that when a user goes to dispense product a second time, I get the following error:
      A first chance exception of type 'System.ObjectDisposedException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll
      Additional information: Cannot access a disposed object.
    I thought that maybe I could hide the window (change Me.Close() to Me.Hide) and then just show it.  When I do that I get this error:
      A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll
      Additional information: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'frmPour' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
    Both of these errors make sense to me, I just can't figure out how to make it work.
    First I have to declare the child window as a global variable as I need to access the window from a couple of the event handlers in the main form.

    It doesn't matter if I use Me.Close() or Me.Hide(), both methods fail on the Application.Run(frmMeasure) line with the errors shown above. 
    For the Me.Close() method, my thinking is that the global frmMeasure object is getting disposed when I close the child window.  Is there any way that I can re-instantiate it when I go to display the window again?
    For the Me.Hide method, is there any way that I can track the thread that created it in the main window and when I go to call it a second time, detect that it is already available and just Show() it?
    Any hints, tips or suggestions are appreciated.

    To be honest, I have only grasped < 100% of your message in detail, but...: Windows that have a parent<->child relation must be running in the same thread. In addition, after closing a modeless window, you must not use it anymore. Instead, create
    a new instance.
    What happens if you do not create a new thread but instead open the child in the same thread (which is obligatory)? You wrote it doesn't work, but I don't know why?

    How do you define "global"? Normally this is a variable in a Module declared with the scope Public or Friend. But I guess you mean a field of the Form (a variable at class level in the Form).

    Why does the main window has to send the messages? Can't the child window handle the device's messages itself?

    Process commands from the device, or commands from the user operating the Forms?

    OS X Lion and Mountain Lion automatically opens the apps that were opened the next time you start up your Mac. First, press Alt, Command and Esc keys, choose iTunes and force close it.
    If this doesn't work, turn off your Mac and turn it on while holding down the Shift key. By doing this, it will start up in safe mode. Then, log in, open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items, and make sure iTunes is not in the list. If it is, delete it. Finally, restart the computer

  • Rather Urgent: Mac HD cannot be repaired. Bootcamp windows effected?

    This is rather urgent, as I need the computer for the Bar Examination on Tuesday (two days away!)
    Today, my MacBook Air gave a "question mark" folder on booting. I tried booting from a disk, and using Disk Utility. The Disk Repair said it cannot repair the Mac HD, advising to backup, reformat, and re-install.
    I also have Bootcamp Windows 7 installed. That is currently working fine. And that is what I need for the Bar Exam. If everything stays as is, I am okay.
    So my question is: Will the damaged Mac HD ruin the undamaged Bootcamp Windows? And if so, what can I do to fix this?
    There's special software called ExamSoft that is required to take the Bar. Unfortunately, you can only download it once, and you have to verify the laptop when you download, so this is not something I can download after reformatting. I can not reformat the harddrive until after the exam. (They advise keeping the software on for 9 months!) But I am okay with that, I can deal with all my other computer needs afterwards, but with just two days away from a three day exam, I am very worried about my Bootcamp Windows going down, taking the exam software with it.
    Please advise!!

    As you've already taken the bar exam, this reply comes too late to take care of that initial fear of losing everything.
    I do have some steps that you can follow now that the stress has subsided:
    1) Get yourself a copy of Alsoft Disk Warrior (the latest is 4.1.1) -- It's worth its weight in gold
    2) Find your system CDs or 10.6 cd -- whichever is newest
    3) Get an external drive that you can format for mac
    Depending on whether you mind losing the data on the Mac side of your computer or not will determine the steps you would need to go through and how much work it will take to get back up and running.
    *If you don't mind losing the data on the mac side of your system:*
    1) Boot to your 10.6 cd or latest system disk
    2) When it makes it to the installation screen choose English. Then from the Utilities menu at the top choose Disk Utility.
    3) VERY IMPORTANT TO DO PROPERLY -- Choose the Macintosh HD partition (not bootcamp and NOT THE MAIN DRIVE).
    4) Select Erase tab and make sure the format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled), name can be anything you want. Click the Erase button.
    5) Quit Disk Utility and go through the 10.6 installation process as normal.
    6) Once install has finished, you can restore your data if you have it on a time machine volume or on another Mac, otherwise just set the system up fresh and install your various Apps, etc.
    7) Follow the steps below to make a backup/image of your Windows Boot Camp partition
    *If you mind losing the data on the mac side, follow these steps:*
    1) Boot to the Disk Warrior CD -- (If it doesn't boot to the cd due to the system being newer, you'll have to create a Bootable hard drive for the Mac - http://www.ehow.com/how5142897make-bootable-usb-mac.html. Once you have a bootable drive you can drag copy DiskWarrior to the bootable drive from off the CD after you've temporarily booted to the external drive -- hold Option key at startup and select the external hard drive to boot to it)
    2) Attempt to repair the Mac HD partition using Disk Warrior, and if it's successful you can continue with these steps -- if it's not.. consider your mac data lost to standard recovery methods.
    3) After it repairs, restart and boot to the 10.6 or latest System cd you have.
    4) Under the Utilities menu, choose Disk Utility, and check your Mac HD for problems.. since Disk Warrior cleaned up the directory structure it probably won't have errors.
    5) Walk through a standard install of 10.6
    6) Perform all updates and BACK UP YOUR STUFF!
    7) Follow the next steps below to make a backup/image of your Windows Boot Camp partition
    *To back up your Windows Boot Camp Partition:*
    1) Once your system works on the Mac side again, make sure you're booted into the Mac Side.
    2) Download and install Winclone (drag to your applications folder) http://download.cnet.com/Winclone/3000-2242_4-172338.html
    3) Run Winclone and select your bootcamp partition.
    4) Plug in your external hard drive and make sure it's formatted for Mac, if it's not, use Disk Utility and choose the external drive, and choose to Erase the volume and format as Mac OS Extended. THIS WILL ERASE THE DATA ON THE DRIVE, there's no way to convert the drive to Mac Formatted from a PC format. It's not recommended to use a PC formatted disk for this, it's possible that it might work but it's not worth the risk if it doesn't.
    5) Inside Winclone, click the Image.. button, give your Bootcamp image a name such as: Bootcamp 2-25-2011
    6) Save the image onto the external drive.
    To restore the image you can open Winclone, click Restore, select the disk image you saved, and then restore it to the BOOTCAMP partition. A restoration would be necessary if you were to wipe the whole drive, if you were to install a newer drive into your system, if you wanted to resize your bootcamp partition to be larger, or if you were to migrate your BOOTCAMP partition to another system.

  • Why can't users save data in fillable form created in Adobe Acrobat X Pro?

    I have created a fillable pdf form in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have everything working great.  When I send it to users they can fill in all of the information, but they can not save the data in the form.  I have followed these instructions before I send the form to the users:  (Acrobat Pro) Type in non-fillable forms (File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features.
    The form includes text fields, radio buttons, e-signatures (x).
    I have researched for days, spoke to countless "Adobe Chat Room Techs" and still have no idea what I am doing wrong.
    I am so desperate for help.  Any advice would be appreciated.

    I've created a form in LiveCycle Designer & Acrobat X, and saved it.
    However, when I open it up with Adobe Reader XI, I get the following message
    What am I doing wrong?
    This used to be a relatively simple process, and now I'm completely confused with how I enable saving forms that others have filled out.
    If I'm understanding what has been written in this thread previously, this is now normal functionality that doesn't require special settings like it had previously.
    Some help would be greatly appreciated.

         By using Adboe Reader for iPad, I can fill the forms created by Adobe Pro, but cannot view pdf and fill the forms created by LiveCycle Designer. Any idea?

    Thanks for the reply. Right now I can create froms in Adobe Pro, but I need to create an "image file" which is only avialble in LiveCycle designer. Did the Acroforms you mention supports Image field? I tried to create a form with image fields in LiveCycle Designer, and then save as static form. It will work for PC but doesn't work for iPad.

    If you want to filter DHCP client by MAC address in order to prevent some device from obtaining IP address. You may enable Deny Filters on DHCP console first, and then New Filter by MAC address. Detailed steps you may reference the link below:

    But my user cannot see the Website after Logging in.. In the Menu there is a Menuentry called: Website
    Thats correct. But the Site do not load.
    After i put the User in: Group - Administrators i can see the Website... whats wrong here?

    OK i am a step forward.
    i checked help.sap.com and find a hint to the Security Zones.
    Defining Permissions for Security Zones
           1.      Navigate to Security Zones ® com.sap.nw.wpc ® wpc.
           2.      In the context menu of the following folders, choose Open Permissions and define the permissions specified.
    Permissions for Security Zones
    Folders
    Roles/Groups
    Permissions
    medium_safety
    Site owners, editors, and authors (for example, the wpc_editor_role role)
    Select the End User checkbox.
    You can leave the default entry for the Administrator column as None.
    no_safety
    Visitors (for example, the everyone group)
    Select the End User checkbox.
    You can leave the default entry for the Administrator column as None.
    I changed the no_safety (i added Group - Everyone)
    Now i can see the Page.. but i also see at the top right of the page: EDIT PAGE
    And a Standart EndUser should not see: Edit Page
    What can i do here?
