Mac vs PC ads have incorrect filename in hyperlink
Two of the Mac vs PC ads cannot be downloaded because the filename associated with the hyperlink is incorrect or there is some sort of Javascript problem.
The URL is: http://www.apple.com/au/getamac/ads/
The problem ads are: "Tech Support" and "Sabotage"
There is a certain irony in the fact that there is a problem only with these two ads.
Please note that they can be successfully viewed in QuickTime but cannot be downloaded.
The error messages refer to the filenames:
apple-getamac-tech-support_480x396.mov
apple-getamac-sabotage_480x396.mov
Error message tesxt is: "0 bytes of ? - file does not exist"
My guess is that the resolution in the filename should read "480x376".

I inserted the orginal installation disk for the Mac mini. I ran the verify disk. Then nine of these messages in red showed - "Reserved fields in the catalog record have incorrect data." I then did repair disk and now it shows that 1 volume could not be repaired. I have the MiniStack as well. I am assuming that the Hard Drive is the one needing repair. Not the MiniStack which also has OS installed along with Classic. How can I fix the disk? How important is the message in red?
You have directory damage.

The other option is to wipe your drive and re-install everything. -
Just bought Samsung S22B310B computer monitor and hooked it up to my mac mini. I have my mac set to the 1920X1080 resolution but the entire screen (21.5") is not filled. How do fill the screen? it fills the screen on other resolution settings. I have it hooked up regularly and not to the DVI hook up. I'm not a computer savvy person please help!
That monitor supports both (digital) DVI and (analog) VGA connections, so you should not need a converter or use a different adapter.
You should use the Apple Supplied HDMI to DVI Adapter and a (digital) DVI cable to the monitor. -
I just upgraded to Yosemite. Now when I try to open one particular document in Excel, I get a message that there's not enough memory. I can open other documents. The document I can't get to is the spreadsheet of my passwords. Go figure. When I check the storage under "about this Mac" it says I have 150 GB of 249 GB. I have a MacBook Air. Help please. I have a mac book pro and have already downloaded adobe flash player. However when i go to watch a video it says "Blocked Plug In". But my adobe is already up to date. Can someone help me to fix this so i can watch videos?
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.

They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
Then click the button marked
Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
Step 8
Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them. -

WIndows is asking you to reformat the iPod's hard disk because it's probably in the Mac OS X Extended Journaled file system format which the Windows OS can neither read or write to. Reformatting will erase all content from the device and rebuild the filesystem as FAT32 unless you specify it as NTFS (which you shouldn't do).
If you want to be able to use your iPod to copy music from your Mac to your PC, you'll need to either pre-format it as FAT32 using Disk Utility on your Mac and then copy everything over to your PC, or use third party software such as XPlay that allows a Windows PC to read and write to a Mac formatted iPod.

I use an external hard drive for my Lightroom library and I notice that all the images shown on there are DNG. On my MAC hard drive I have images shown as NEF. I desperately need to free up space on my hard drive, can I safely delete these NEFs?

heidie22, dj_paige has a very good point there. I would not through away the NEF files; I would archive them to a external drive.
By the way, I am assuming that converting RAW files to DNG is a decision you have made and not an accident. -
I need to migrate a mac to another and have kept my backups current with timemachine. I connected the HD with the time machine back ups to the machine I'm migrateing to and used the migratiation assastiant but now i have 2 accounts and no permissions to access the account I migrated. I just imagined I would use the migration assastiant and afterwards I'd be looking at the mac I transfered/migrated. What did I do wrong or how can I achieve the desired effect?

What do you mean by this? Have you tried to login to these accounts?
If you come up automatically to an account, you can log off this account then login to a new account.

My 3 external hd's are 500GB (total 1.5TB) and my Mac Mini is 500GB (Time Capsule is connected to this). I want to be able to have all the content from all these sources stored on my Time Capsule as if I only had 1 external drive. Is this possible? It is my understanding that when Time Machine backs up my Mac Mini I have to have my external drives connected since my Mac Mini does not have enough space on it to hold all the content on the exgternal hd's. I can only connect 1 external hard drive at a time and I want to get rid of them and consolidate.
And having to go back in time to search for files on 1 external hard drive and then back in time for the other external hard drive is not the most efficient thing to do. I would like it all in one place.

I would like to upload my music library from my PC to the Cloud through iTunes Match. I also will be purchasing a Mac in the near future and would like to download some of that music from iCloud to my Mac. Will I have compatability problems?

If you mean you have several identities in the Office Identities folder then yes. You can delete whatever you don need\want except for your current.
Are you updated to the latest version of Office?
After the restore, navigate to ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/your identity and delete the file called Database. Then rebuild.

It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition. Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot. Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot. If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that. Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML. If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again. However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too. -

I have a new Mac Pro computer and have migrated my files from my older computer to the new computer. In trying to open a Lightroom catalog on an external hard drive I keep on getting the message "lightroom cannot use the catalog named " " because it is not writable and cannot be opened. I have fixed all the "permissions" and yet it will still not open. How do I fix this?

I figured it out. You have to select the actual logo of the Lightroom catalog and then click on "get info" and allow what ever your new user name to "read and write". That worked!
