.Mac web galleries

Anyone figure out what ATV 2 wants when it asks for info regarding .Mac web gallery?
the URL?
the name of the gallery?
my .mac user name?
not frustrated, just excited!

I'm confused. When I used iPhoto to publish a gallery to .mac, it finished the task and told me that my gallery is at http://gallery.mac.com/myfirstname.mylastname#100013. I can't find a way to get Apple TV to "see" that gallery. Any advice on what I should enter?
This is not a very Apple-like experience. My experience with Apple has always been that their applications were easy and intuitive. This doesn't seem to be.

  • Strange behaviour in .mac web galleries

    Hi,
I have started to use .mac web galleries with aperture 2. However, I am witnessing some very strange behaviour. Firstly, it seems to take forever to update, the icon at the side of the gallery is permanently on the 'update' icon.
Secondly, whenever I add new photos to the gallery it actually creates an entirely new gallery with all the photos from the previous gallery.
Is anybody else having issues with the aperture flavour of .mac web galleries?
    thx
    Phil

I have a similar problem Phil! I watch the status indicator for a web gallery progress to about half way then it stops, the album doesn't get published. I have published albums before this started happening, and have published other albums successfully but sometimes certain albums don't publish. I delete them and repost them to no avail. Hopefully we can get some answers! This is quite lame, don'tcha think?

  • Getting back .Mac Web Galleries after reformat

I've created many .Mac Web Galleries with iPhoto and they've successfully published and appeared in the iPhoto source list.
I reformated, and even after logging into .Mac in System Prefs, the .Mac Web Galleries do not display in my iPhoto source list. They are all there if I go to iPhoto's preferences.
How do I get my .Mac Web Galleries back into the source list?

Never mind. Apparently you have to click "Check Now" in iPhoto preferences to force an update.

  • IWeb not seeing .Mac web galleries

I just bought Aperture 2.0 in favor of iPhoto. I published a .Mac web gallery via Aperture 2.0 to my .Mac gallery, and fired up iWeb to reference the gallery, but Insert > .Mac Web Gallery shows "No albums or movies available".
The web gallery works just fine. I'm looking at it right now in Safari.
Anyone know why that would happen?

Please when I try to publish my site appears the follow message:
    PUBLISH ERROR
Can’t create the file “13Prof._Evandro_faz_conferência_na_Universidade_Iagueiloniana,_Cracóvia,_sobre_Cul tura_de_Comunicação,_Diálogo_Multicultural_e_Não-violência:_a_Transformação_dos_ Jogos_de_Sentido_Através_da_Ascendência_Cidadã_Não-violentasobr.js.” The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
And when I delete this file and try to publish again the same msg appears refering another file...
My disk is nott full and I don't know what is happening.
    Thanks, Evandro, from Brazil.

  • .Mac web galleries with Aperture

    Hi all,
I use Aperture for all of my photography needs however, I'd really like to be able to use the .Mac web gallery feature of iPhoto '08. I haven't bought iLife '08 yet because I'd like to know how this would work...
Can anyone give me an insight into how using your Aperture library in iPhoto works? Does your Aperture library automatically appear in iPhoto? Would I have to export my photos from Aperture and then import into iPhoto (therefore having a duplicate)?
    Thanks for any help
    -Sam

    Sam
Just tried an experiment with importing dragging a couple of pics across.
If you use iPhoto in the default setting, (Copy Pics to the iPhoto Library on Import) then yes, the Previews are copied over.
However, if you disable this in the Preferences (->Advanced) the Preview is not copied over, but referenced instead, and a Right-Click -> Show File produces a Finder Window with the Preview Selected in the Aperture Library.

  • Creating .Mac web Galleries with iPhoto '08

OK, I'm fairly new to the Mac world, and started using my .Mac account this week to show vacation photos. I've created a few photo albums and published them to my .Mac account. But now when you go to gallery.mac.com/jasonskwarek you get prompted with a password to access the images. I've checked the galleries in iPhoto, deleted and re-uploaded them, there is no password set there yet I still get this prompt. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, when creating a new album and clicking the Web Gallery icon to create the web gallery it only uploads one image, I have to create the Web Gallery again and the second one will post all the images, I then delete the one that was created first. Am I doing something wrong here as well? I've created maybe 8 galleries and this has happened with every gallery that I upload.
    TIA,
    Jason

First - are yuou running the latest version of iPhoto - version 7.1.1? - if not update and try again
Second recheck the setttings - select a web gallery in the source pane (the left hand side bar) and click on the options (the little gear lookin thingy at the bottom of the screen) and be sure that everyone is allow to view and that there is no password - sounds like you did but be sure
next would be to delete the gallery, trash you iPhoto preferences and try again
    Good Luck

  • A workaround for Aperture users to use .Mac Web Gallery

As a user who recently switched to Aperture - I was hugely disappointed seeing some amazing new photo-related features in iLife '08 not available for Aperture users. Let alone the cash for purchasing software suites, I can't convince myself switching back to iPhoto for a single feature. So I googled and searched around...
Some pre-requisite for the workaround: You must have iLife '08, Aperture and .Mac installed.
    _*Solution 1*_
Create an album in Aperture that contains the images you want to upload to your .Mac Web Gallery. In iPhoto '08, create an empty library, then File > Show Aperture Library, choose the album and import images from there.
The downside of this is the images are your Versions in preview quality.
    _*Solution 2*_
Export Versions from Aperture and import the images to iPhoto and perform the upload.
    _*Solution 3*_
For users building websites in iWeb, I have seen threads that one could use the media browser in iLife suite to perform similar result but it also limits to the preview quality of Aperture.
I would have to say even the workaround is hugely disappointed but I can't see any other solutions at the moment. I couldn't recall my last ocassion on having such disappointment for Apple's software development.

Apple really needs to rev. Aperture so it sends photos directly to the new .Mac Web Galleries.
    Everyone needs to go here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html
And voice there opinion there to get this added to Aperture.
    Thanks, Scott K.

  • Video about Web Galleries on TV

Perhaps some of you have already seen this, but Apple recently put up a new video about .Mac Web Galleries on TV. Click on this image:
    ...and then look for this:
...once it has downloaded, you may have to click the Play button or the above button again to actually view the video.
Assuming Apple's server speeds are up to the job, this effectively means personal worldwide digital TV broadcasting without the hassles of a podcast feed.

Frequently asked questions about viewing and syncing video with iTunes and iPod
"Can I burn iTunes Music Store Videos to DVD?
You can save your iTunes Music Store movies to data DVDs for backup purposes (if you have a supported DVD burner), but these DVDs will not play in a DVD player."

  • Can't access password protected .Mac Web Gallery

Safari is my primary browser. I have been creating web galleries using iLife '08 and my .Mac account and then viewing them with Safari for the past month or so with no trouble. This weekend I tried creating a password protected web gallery and it won't load in Safari. The gear icon just spins forever and has timed out when I have left it alone long enough. My other web galleries continue to load just fine. Clicking on the link from within iPhoto for my password protected gallery doesn't work, typing the url into Safari doesn't work, going to my gallery index and clicking on the icon of the "locked" gallery doesn't work, etc. I can still view all of my other web galleries, but this one that I'm trying to protect just won't load.
This actually appears to be a Safari problem. I don't get a dialog asking for User Name and Password. The url works just fine using Firefox on my Mac, and it also works on a PC running Windows XP. When using something other than Safari, I get the prompt for User Name and Password that I would expect. Upon entering that information, everything looks normal and works just fine.
Tsk tsk Apple! Safari shouldn't be having trouble displaying protected .Mac web galleries. Sheesh!

Just wanted to let you know that I have the EXACT SAME problem, except it is affecting my password protected iWeb site and my Gallery. I can view it from Firefox, so that is the web browser I am using now. I sent a bug report to Apple, and I also send them a request for help using e-mail, but so far I have gotten no response. Hopefully someone is working on the fix?

  • Can't see web galleries in iweb

I've published multiple .mac web galleries but don't see any of them listed in the widget list in iweb. What am I missing, do I have to do something special to see them?
What's the best way to include my web galleries if I have a ton of them I want to list on my website?

It may not be a bug but a feature to not display any photos that are acutally in the gallery when announcing a protected gallery. I don't know. But you can report by using the iWeb->Provide iWeb Feedback menu option in iWeb.
If the gallery is password protected but your want a photo from the gallery to be in the link, add a small photo to the page, size it to a reasonable size and then link it to the web gallery. When visitors click on the photo link they will be taken to the gallery and have to put in a name and password before they can access it. You can email that info to them in a separate email.

  • Resetting .Mac web gallery

How to I delete .Mac web galleries on the web? I deleted them in iPhoto, but they are still showing up on the web page.

first check your iPhoto preferences setting for the web galleries and if they are there select them and click stop publishing
If they are not there then use the finder = in the finder go to your iDisk ==> web ==> sites ==> _gallery and drag the gallery folders that you want gone to the trash and empty the trash

  • Dynamic list of .Mac Web Gallery into iWeb

    Hi guys,
I would like to know we can incorporate a dynamic list of all my .mac web galleries so that it appears in iWeb.
For example, in my .mac gallery, I have these four galleries:-
    1. Picnic shots
    2. Wedding shots
    3. Pet shots
    4. Zoo shots
I want this entire list to be shown in iWeb, and it should be dynamic in such if I change the title of the gallery, it changes in iWeb as well. Or when I modify and add new galleries in my .mac , it should be reflected in my iWeb.
I just want the list to appear, not the gallery widget. Thanks!!

Assuming it's possible to do at all outside of Apple, I suspect that it would require some sophisticated programming on the server where your site is hosted. If you are hosted on .Mac, I doubt such programming is possible. However, if you are hosted on a non-.Mac server, perhaps someone here can suggest an approach.
Possibly Apple will provide that feature in a future version of iWeb and you can request it via this feedback form:
    ...in +Feedback Type+ choose +Enhancement Request+.
Meanwhile, you've probably guessed already that the non-dynamic solution is to set up text hyperlinks in iWeb to your Galleries and update those links manually as necessary.

  • How to access a .Mac Web Gallery

What is the syntax you enter in AppleTV for accessing a .Mac Web Gallery? Part of the Ad says "free content from the Internet on your widescreen TV. Not to mention your photos (and your friends’ photos) from Flickr or .Mac Web Galleries."
Watch your .Mac Web Gallery photos. How? My AppleTV did not come with a manual or a note stating a web address to go to for more information. Please help. Thanks

I was doing that, but nothing was showing up. Then I thought after I posted the message in the forum, about security. I have folders (along with other people) that require a password to get in. I tested this theory out by placing some sample pictures in the main area and I see them. When others invite me to see secured pictures in their folder, why can I only see them when I'm on my computer and not on the AppleTV. I don't want to download them to take up space on my computer to see them on the TV. Is there a way to see secured pictures or is this another shortfall of AppleTV?

  • .Mac Web Gallery - How to change key photo and order or galleries?

How can I choose which photo is the key photo for each .Mac web gallery? Also, how can I re-arrange the order of the web galleries?

I would really love to see a solution for this too ! Unfortunately I think apple just didn't implement it in Aperture. My .Mac web gallery is about events in my life and it doesn't make any sense to have it sorted alphabetically...
Not being able to simply set a key photo is really annoying too.
The worst is that these two functions are available in iPhoto. All they had to do was copy and paste...
    Apple are you listening ?

  • Aperture Web Galleries, .Mac and the new iLife '08

Was anyone else as dismayed as me to see that the fantastic new Web Galleries that unify the new iPhoto with .Mac don't appear to work with Aperture.
This clearly is designed to drive us Aperture users to remain dependent on purchasing iLife, even though most of us are moving away from (or have moved completely away from) needing iPhoto. To be honest I really don't need any of the iLife suite now that I have Aperture.
But I want/need that great looking Web Gallery (notice that it shares the same name as an Aperture "feature" - which looks dreadfully boring when compared to this product).
As someone who has paid the Premium for Aperture and .Mac I really think we deserve to have at least an equally attractive product that integrates smoothly with .Mac.
Yes I know I sound bitter - and here is why - Had I bought my MacBook Pro today and not seven days ago I would probably have a copy of iLife '08 available to me free.
But alas there are no upgrade coupons anymore so I probably need to stop complaining and give Apple more cash.

I'm in the same boat - jonesing for those slick iWeb galleries but not able to get a decent workflow from Aperture through iWeb. The inability to get ANY metadata out of Aperture and into an iWeb photo page - do they really think we're going to retype 200 captions? - is very frustrating.
I was going to see how much of the iWeb gallery functionality could be cloned back into Aperture templates, but that is probably ambitious - to say the least - given the currently rudimentary state of my knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Is this indeed the case? I was wondering if iWeb 2.0 picks up any of the metadata from Aperture previews to automatically caption and title images. The example galleries look pretty slick, but I'm not going to re-type all of my captions.
    See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5541992#5541992
Currently, I design the backbone of my site in iWeb 1.1, create an image directory by pulling in photos through the media browser, and hang Aperture galleries off those photos as external links. I modified the Aperture web gallery template to give a link back to the iWeb pages.
Did you develop this technique yourself? Can you share more of the details (here or elsewhere)?
