[Mac, Win] Fullscreen Bug?

Hello!
Sorry for the lenghty post but maybe someone can confirm the problems I am seeing:
There seems to be a bug in both Windows and Mac versions of Photoshop CS6. The problem manifests itself MUCH clearer on a Windows machine, but is present to some degree on a Mac, too. The last version without it seems to be CS3 (OpenSth problem?).
Steps to reproduce: Any image open, full screen mode, all pannels UNDOCKED:
Correct behoviour: The image should not move while pressing Tab (ideally it shouldn't even redraw).
On Windows:
With every press of a Tab key to show/hide the panels the image jumps up several pixels (sometimes also towards the center of the screen if the image is smaller than the screen area). Also (and MUCH more annoyingly) when the image is moved off center and is at certain magnification (the most reproducible seems to be 33%) after pressing Tab it jumps ALL THE WAY to the center of the screen.
On Mac:
Similar things happen, but more rarely, and the image jumps by only ~1 pixel. (Easier to observe if you first zoom the image smoothly a bit by dragging with a zoom tool).
Also as it currently is (after CS3?) pressing F produces the same outcome as pressing Shift+F - there is no way of just showing the menu in Fullscreen mode and then quickly hiding it after use - one have to go through the whole screen mode cycle. Also on Windows there is no way to access the menu when hidden with Alt + Letter speedkey (Alt + F for file menu etc.). Both these functions worked perfectly well in CS3.
Both machines have latest Photoshop, OS updates and drivers (but old graphics cards: Win - Nvidia 9800GT, Mac Nvidia 880GT). I suspect these changes for the worse has been introduced while switching to OpenGL. Hopefully it is not necessary for it to be that way or maybe even it works as expected on newer graphics hardware - anyone care to check?
Last time similar problems occured was, if I remember correctly, in Photoshop 7 when Status Bar has been moved into an image window :-)
I know it may sound as if it's not important, but it certainly is annoying. It has nothing to do with not embracing change - I do find OpenWhatever to be a huge leap for Photoshop - even if I have to put up with a slower image redraw most of the time...
So, I hope, my rumblings aren't comparable to:

Thank you.
Unfortunately, I don't have Navigator open (opening it doesn't make any difference). The image jumps in fullscreen mode without the menu, because when I press Tab, the menu shows anyway and the image (incorrectly) moves down to accommodate it and then up again, after another Tab press.
The wholly unreasonable behaviour of image being centred with Tab pressing has no such explanation and is not happening on a Mac at all.
Your suggestion to use Shift F and then F works, but since Tab shows the menu anyway - it kind of doubles that functionality.
I just think that the old behaviour of being able to show just the menu, separately from the panels or access it with Alt + Letter keys was more convenient than current behaviour. The image always stayed exactly where it was - no need to redraw. And it NEVER jumped whole way to the center - which makes dealing with image corners extremely difficult.
I can understand that some of that may be the a requirement of using OpenGL on Windows, but I kind of doubt it.

  • Flash CS3 Mac/Win Projector Publishing - Using older version of Flash

    Hi,
    How can I use an older version of Flash player when publishing to Man/Win Projector? The Properties says 'Player: 7' but when I publish to Mac/Win (.app/.exe) the file says it uses Flash player 9 (9.0.115.0)!
    One of our clients are having issues with a project published this way - on autoplay they get a white screen instead of the program screen and after they update Flash on their computer, the application (Projector) works. What's the issue?
    This is what I have on my first frame (using AS2), is any of this suspect to older versions of Flash? :
    <code as2>
    fscommand("fullscreen", true);
    fscommand("allowscale", false);
            trace("This is a " + System.capabilities.os + " system.");
    var os:String = System.capabilities.os.substr(0, 3);
            if (os == "Win") {
              trace("Windows-specific code goes here");
            } else if (os == "Mac") {
              trace("Mac-specific code goes here");
            } else {
              trace("Must be Unix or Linux");
    var videoStartNumber:Number =0;
    var originalMenu:Number = 1;
    _root.menu1_1.onRelease = function() {videoStartNumber = 1; gotoAndPlay(5);}
    _root.menu1_2.onRelease = function() {originalMenu = 3; gotoAndPlay(3);}
    _root.menu1_3.onRelease = function() {originalMenu = 4; gotoAndPlay(4);}
    _root.menu1_4.onRelease = function() {gotoAndPlay(2);}
    _root.exitButton.onRelease = function() {fscommand("quit");}
    stop();
    </code as2>
    But even if something on this project wouldn't work on an older version than 9.0.115.0 then it shouldn't matter as the Projector will always use the embedded Flash player, not the player installed on the computer, right?
    Really would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!
    PJ

    Please, can someone help me?
    Our client is getting frustrated and I'm out of ideas as to what's wrong with the Projector executable! Why would it give white screen on launch on some systems and not on others?
    Sincerely,
    PJ Palomaki

  • URGENT HELP: Need to reformat an external hard drive for Mac/Win!

    We got a Desk Hammer external hard drive and my hubby chose to format it as Mac Only when it first initialized. We needed it to be formatted for Mac/Win usage. Now we cannot figure otu how to reinitialize and reformat it. It's been years since I messed with his Mac. Help--right now we just have a big old doorstop instead of a hard drive! BTW Desk Hammer is no help with support (I guess that's why they were on sale); their website isn't even complete!

    Use the Disk Utility application found in /Applications/Utilities to format the Drive as MS-DOS File System. This will be readable by both Mac and Windows platforms.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • Mac/Win market share confirmation straight from the horse's mouth

    From a response by Photoshop Principal Program Manager John Nack to someone's post on his blog:
    "Last time I checked, Creative Suite sales were roughly 50/50 Mac/Win."
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2009/02/optional_plugin.html

    I was a Windows user for 15 years. I not only designed the computers to market, I was a Network Admin and consultant. Now I use a Mac.
    Funny. I see these stupid threads by the same few folks who can't help but push their macs. And the one or two who tote Windows.
    Both systems have their set of problems. But really, who cares what market shares are PC vs Mac with regards to Adobe. Big deal.
    Windows has so many more vendors and software programmers to deal with they finally had to coral it in with Vista, their first attempt. Signed drivers. Macs failed with clones. Life happens.
    The Mac in not superior and saying it is doesn't make you any more superior either but damn y'all sure seem to think so.
    What a joke.
    b You keep up the we versus them - mac vs ps all you want. It does not get anyone anywhere. Solving common issues that effect both side is much more valuable.
    Maybe it makes you feel good to spout your love for one or the other. But Adobe has pretty well tried to get their products to run the same no matter which OS you choose. Adobe seems to understand Macs aren't the only OS choice to run their products. They realize PCs make a huge part of the market. Quibble over 50 percent or 60 percent or what ever you want... the Macs just don't have to support the thousands of titles that PCs do.
    At least PCs know how to display web images with sRGB much better. In fact, amazing how a designer still needs to design for PCs ever more so than macs. Because of the sheer numbers of PCs versus Macs. I still read and hear all the time, you design for PCs first and foremost and then try to cross over to macs. Cross browser ring a bell guys. But I guess those here would find that as the PCs are trying to have a superior attitude. NO. They just realize the number of end users. But I guess the same 4-5 mac people here will still have something to say about that statement. How PC users feel their systems are the best or run Adobe products better and were ready for 64 bit first. Whooppiieeeeeee. God, what you guys stoop to for something to write about.
    Hey, sorry but I get so tired of these threads let's just call them out on it....

    What other enlightenment can you fill us with? Mac vs PC. God, give it a rest...
    Leopard was rushed out the door. So was Vista. Smart PC users may be still on XP, Mark because they didn't like Vista just like a lot of people don't like Leopard. WOW. Amazing. The consumer is the main beta tester now for just about any of it. Ramon, you on Leopard yet? CS4? Anything new and up to date?
    So where are with with Snow Leopard? The perfect OS? Who knows.
    And Ann. Bringing up the fact that our PC friendly guy here is not CS4, well... a lot of those with opinions of Macs aren't. Is Ramon? I know you stay up to date Ann but maybe our PC guys can read the other forums just fine and go from there. Like some do here. Hum....
    I just wanted to walk all over this thread. Say my rants and raves. Call people out on their superior attitude of crap. Go kneel to your John Nack and by all means, keep reading his blog and keep us posted. I doubt John want to really hear all of this either.
    This was a whole waste of space and so you know, let's see how long I can type and waste even more. Let's just keep talking and trashing everything I can and see if I can't kill this thread.
    Heck - maybe I should take a different tact and try to get it locked down and closed. May be I should try to get the moderators to do their job and stop this from going too far.
    Just the same old same old. The same usual suspects screaming the same old lines. Ramon, really - was this addressed to us who use macs in the mac forums or to PC users who also keep up with Macs and happen by?
    You know, even trying to kill this thread by ranting now isn't that much fun. Because I think every one but Ann and Ramon and Mark and Buko are tired of the MAC is better than PC routine. JJ, let them say what ever they want. You think anyone is really going to read it? Or read this?
    I stayed up too late tonight and have sleep deprivation. I doubt I will remember typing this. I will remember listing the same 4 names we can list all too often and the same people that opinionate the loudest here.
    b It is a shame though. If they would stay off these topics and stay with being helpful without having to cry superior this or sucky that... they would actually be great to keep around.
    But they just can't help themselves. They will be the first to fire off at you should you disagree with them. They are the one's who are always right and never wrong.
    Anyway, guess I did what I wanted... to try to blow steam, vent, release frustrations or what ever... and in all hopes - I hope I wrote long enough that this thread will just die and go away.
    Tell you what, let's copy and past the whole thing twice to really make one have to scroll down to post anything new...

  • Mac/Win upgrade?

    Can someone please tell me how the Mac/Win upgrade works?  Can I install one copy on a Mac and one on Windows with the same $299 license? If so, would one get one serial number that works on both platforms? I heard that you get two seats.  If I install one on a Mac and the other on the same Mac with bootcamp for WIndows, does that use up my twp seats or does that just count as one since its on the same computer and can not be used by two people?

    Cheers
    My Mac arrived yesterday, so I put the DVD in (it's a download only version, rather than a shipped box) and there didn't seem to be a Mac installer. In sheer naiveity even tried running setup.exe (!) but no joy.
    Other info I've read since does seem to imply that this rep was wrong. Does anyone else know more about the process, or, if the rep was right, how I go about installing from that DVD?
    Cheers - Mac noob...

  • Fullscreen bug in AIR 2.5

    We built a flash application which was packed with AIR v1.0(current
    version at that time), which by default opens in full screen mode
    we had added a button within the application which uses the following
    code to minimise the application
    This code minimises the application till AIR runtime v2.03. Once the
    runtime is upgraded to V2.5 the application stops to go fullscreen in
    the below scenario
    After upgradation if the user clicks minimise button, and then tries
    to restore the application by clicking the application tab in the
    taskbar, the application fails to go fullscreen
    It remains as a borderless window with a partial portion of the
    application displayed
    Thereafter the user has to force quit the application and relaunch
    This application series is our largest seller, and we are deeply
    concerned of the Windows and Macintosh versions
    We would really appreciate a quick response
    Sanjay
    Code
    /* To minimize the window- on click the minimize  method is called*/
    windowChanger.minimise.
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,minimize);
    private function minimize(event:MouseEvent):void
                myWindow.minimize();
                trace("minimize the window");
    /* To maximize the window- onActiviate method is called*/
    this.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, onActivate);
    public function onActivate(evt:Event) {
                stageDetails();
    public function stageDetails():void {
                stage.scaleMode=StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
                stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
                stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;

    For those following along, Sanjay and I have taken the discussion offline and he provided me with a couple of sample projects.  I've been able to reproduce the issue on AIR 2.5 and it has now been entered as a bug in our internal database, #2751098.
    I've also proposed a workaround that appears to work on both Mac and Win.  Instead of
    this.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, onActivate);
    public function onActivate(evt:Event):void
         stageDetails();
    I've suggested using
    stage.nativeWindow.addEventListener(NativeWindowDisplayStateEvent.DISPLAY_STATE_CHANGE, onDisplayStateChange);
    public function onDisplayStateChange(evt:NativeWindowDisplayStateEvent):void
         if (evt.afterDisplayState == NativeWindowDisplayState.NORMAL)
         stageDetails();
    I hope this helps anyone else that might encounter this issue.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Fullscreen bug with specific button on Mavericks rMBP 2013

    Hi Everyone,
    Encountered a weird bug on my GF's new rMBP with facetime.  The camera will turn itself off during face time if she fullscreens the app using the fade in fullscreen button on the top right corner of the app.  Sometimes the green light will stay off the whole time it is fullscreened, sometimes it will stay off for a second, then turn back on and the other end of the conversation may or may not see the pause icon. This doesn't happen when she uses the menu or the persistant bottom right hand corner fullscreen button.
    I don't know why it is only that particular button, but it happens.  Not a major issue, but just a weird annoyance and wonder if anyone else has seen this problem or if this is a know bug that will be addressed in the future.  I've tried to clear out the keychain, thinking it was that, but no go.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Adobe air application descriptor - os specific (mac/win)?

    I created an app that runs on windows and mac osx.
    Not I would like to have different install folders on each os in the application descriptor:
    For windows:
    <installFolder>Companyname</installFolder>
    For max osx (no install folder):
    <installFolder></installFolder>
    Is it possible to set this inside the application descriptor without changing the xml file for each os?
    E.g
    <installFolder os="win">Companyname</installFolder>
    <installFolder os="mac"></installFolder>
    Thanks for hints...

    Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  When adding the bug, please include sample code or an application so we can quickly test this out internally.  If you'd like to keep this private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]).
    Once added, please post back with the URL and I'll attach the symbolicated crash log to the bug report.  Out of curiosity, have you tried this with AIR 3.6?

  • Mac Projector, fullscreen but...

    Hi
    I'm making a CD-ROM to be compatible both Mac and PC.
    Everything went well. Burnt the CD, one part Mac, the other PC. On
    the PC, the Flash load as intended Full Screen, no border
    whatsoever shown. But on Mac, the header of the window of the Flash
    Player is showing. I don't see any option when publishing the
    projectors to remove that. In the action track, I made the
    Fullscreen command. It works on PC, but not on Mac.
    So, any idea on how to remove that header? Thanks.

    Well... it seems to be a bug / feature that apparently no one
    ever came across. I saved the file as MX 2004 and created the
    projector from the old MX2004 Flash application. The projector now
    appears ok on Mac, that is without any window header.
    ...well, thanks to me I guess... ?

  • Fullscreen bugs in Air 2 apps under client Air 2.5 runtime?

    We produce video distribution apps handling DRM in Air 2.0
    We've  encountered quite a serious bug in our Air applications' handling of  Flash when going fullscreen.
    Under Air 2.0, our apps  were fully functional. No issues.
    After the upgrade to Air 2.5,  all PC installs no onger display video content in full screen when  prompted to do so.
    We have noticed the same error  occurs in AMP 1.8 and are yet to find an example of an Air application  that does not experience this issue.
    As the bug is  isolated to PC (not present on Mac at all), is it related to either:
    a) Flash handling of the Output protection enacted with this update or
    b)  h264 hardware decoding
    We have over 30K apps deployed  and seek information regarding a resolution for this asap.
    We have  drafted a workaround, but it is not an ideal situation.
    Is  Air 2.5 being updated again (within 48hrs)?

    Hello,
    I'm sorry you've run into this fullscreen playback bug.  We found this issue with AMP after the release of 2.5 (internal bug #2732895) and it will be fixed in our next release.  Adobe announced yesterday that an update to Flash Player would occur on or before November 9th.  Typically AIR and FP releases occur in tandem.
    In our testing, we were only able to reproduce the issue with Adobe's Media Player, attempts to reproduce using AOL, BBC iPlayer, or MovieFone were unsuccessful.  Could you point me to another example where this bug occurs?  I'd like to verify it's fixed on more than one application.
    I'm going to follow up with you via the forums private message system, you can also email me at [email protected]
    Thanks,

  • Win 7 64 on Bootcamp... Mac/Win Display Woes

    Hi all,
    I'm running Win 7 64-bit using current Bootcamp drivers on a Mac Pro with dual 2.93 quad-cores and 16 GB RAM. Bootcamp/Win 7 seems to run fine except that frequently when I boot to the desktop the displays aren't correct - I only get 2 of the 3 I have or they're out of order. Going back to Mac, however, the displays are usually OK.
    I'm running the stock 120 video card with the NVidia 4870 as well.
    When I ran two monitors off the 4870 (my initial setup), I had display problems on Windows. So I pulled the second display off the 4870 and put it on the 120. This seemed to solve my Windows display issues, but now my Mac displays aren't working correctly - OSX 10.6.2 sees only 2 and refuses to show the third. I'm pretty sure switching the video cables back will solve the problem but obviously that's a hassle for someone bouncing back and forth between the OSes.
    Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this???
    Thanks in advance!
    Kevin

    I've never known of a mixed ATI + Nvidia to work!
    Not sure what options there are either. There are PC ATI 5xxx with 2GB and ability to drive 3 monitors off MiniDisplay ports... Apple left us with just two power connectors so two highend cards are out....
    I assume you have the latest Catalyst and Nvidia drivers which you need... and using Ultimate or Pro for your dual processor.

  • Wine fullscreen issues

    When I try to fullscreen certain applications in wine, it does a couple of things:
    * It changes my resolution, both on my main and my other monitor, probably to match the resolution of the game. Key here is that also the resolution of my other monitor is changed, which shouldn't happen
    * It resizes the window of the application to the size of my main monitor
    * The application still appears in the same size as before, now in the top left corner of the monitor it was on. The rest of the application's window is gibberish, artifacts from windows that used to be there and such
    So far this has occured on the VNs Yume Miru Kusuri and Tsukihime, as well on multiple of the Touhou games (I don't know which exactly, but I know for a fact that Touhou 6 does this).
    I'm using i3 as window manager, but I recall that similar problems have occured with the Touhou games on dwm and I believe some other tiling WMs. Notably, the problem does not occur on Awesome WM.
    The problem does not occur on all wine applications. I don't use WINE much for things other than VNs and the Touhou games, but I know for a fact that the problem does not occur with Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

    Changing the primary monitors resolution to that of the wine applications window size and then running it in a virtual desktop (wine explorer /desktop=Wine,_XSIZE_x_YSIZE_) could be one workaround.
    Edit: Never used i3 myself, so this may not apply. Works with most problematic applications with openbox as windows manager (without DE).
