Mac/Windows Compatability Issue!

I got a prob with my 5G ipod, as in my previous question i said that when my ipod is formatted to mac it wont work on my windows laptop and normally with an ipod when you format to windows (FAT32) it should work on your mac aswell, however after following peoples instructions to do this my ipod formatted at FAT32 still will not work on my mac, i get the message "Disk Insertion" "the disk yu inserted was not readable by this computer" then the options, initialize, ignore, eject, pressing initialize brings up disk utility.
I have tried all options, resetting, restoring ect. tried different usb ports on the mac.
I dont know what else to do becuase i want to be able to use it on both computers, can anyone please help me????

You might be able to look at the iPod that is formatted FAT32 on a Mac as a HARD DISK, but you cannot set it up to work with BOTH Mac and Windows' iTunes at the same time. You have to pick one or the other.

  • Mac / Adobe Compatibility Issues with Reader X1 & Acrobat X1

    I'm using Acrobat X1  11.0.10 and Reader 11.0.10 with Mac OS X ( 10.8.5).
In Reader, when I click the "show next page" down arrow, it takes around 5 seconds to jump to the next page. (scrolling to the next page via the scroll bar works fine).
In Acrobat, when I use the text edit tools, it can take up to 10 seconds before I can edit a word (remove or add a letter).Oftentimes, Acrobat will highlight the whole paragraph rather than just the word I select. (I think this is due to the lag time.) When I backspace to remove a word, nothing happens ... for several seconds. Then letters begin disappearing.
I reverted from Mavericks and Yosemite back to Lion (or Mountain Lion - I forget what they called 10.8.5) in the hopes of fixing this issue. When I say reverted back. I did a full install. Wiped the hard drive, loaded 10.8.5 and started this Mac as if it were new.
Is there a version of Reader and Acrobat that work with Mac OS X ( 10.8.5)?

    Hi,
Acrobat 11 is compatible with MAC 10.8.5. So, there are no compatibility issues.
Please let me know if this happens with every PDF or some specific one?
If specific, then please tell me what is the size of your PDF file.
You might also try repairing Acrobat from the Help menu.

  • Windows compatability issues

Since I got my macbook in Decemeber, I have noticed that whenever I am using Microsoft Word, and I save the file it saves a .doc, (there are no compatibility issues and I am saving as a microsoft friendly document) but when I email it to someone with a PC or put it on my flashdrive to open on another computer (PC) it saves as a .dat file. The file will open word if I am opening it from the flashdrive, but if I email it that person (mostly my professors) cannot open the file. It has grown quite annoying and would really appreciate any help PLEASE!!

Go to "Attachments" in Mail's "Edit" menu and enable "Always Send Windows Friendly Attachments".

  • External hard drives and mac/windows compatibility - Need Help pls

I have an external Harddiskdrive with 200 GB formatted in HFS+ with my Mac.
    And here's my Problem:
A friend of me would have some of the MP3's on this HDD, but he is a PC user with Windows XP. So he could not see the drive in his Workspace.
Is there a way without buy MacDrive or something like that?
Or is there a App like MacDrive as Freeware or OpenSource???
What is with the "DOS" - format (FAT32)? Can I use this without an afraid of losing my Data on this Drive???

"am getting this error message on my Mac:
    SMART status not supported"
This is not an error. SMART status reports of hard drives are not passed through the chipsets of external enclosures.
"What is this FAT program and how do I make it work? "
FAT is not a program. IT's the format in which the drive is fomatted.
In the future, please start a new question about your issues, so as to not "thread-jack" and existing discussion. YOu'll recieve more repsonses if do so as well, rather than burying your question deep inside someone elses topic/issues.

  • Windows Compatibility Issue (?)

I cannot open iTunes with Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1; I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have unchecked to run in compatibility mode, and I have run iTunes troubleshooting, but continue to get "incompatible application detected".  I tried using the recommended settings, but same results.  This issue started in June....Any solutions?

    Hi mcnastyusmc,
It sounds like you've been on the right track in troubleshooting this issue. You may want to go over the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

  • Mac/Windows Compatibility for Word-Help!

I just recently got Office for my Mac. I created a Word document and emailed it to a business partner. He has Windows and when he opened it, everything (including jpg.'s) were out of place and everything was skewed. He thinks he's running 2003. Any ideas on how I can create my documents so that he is able to open them?

There is no assurance of 100% correctness between different versions of msWord. If you are using Word 2004, in the File--SaveAs dialog, Click on the Compatibility Report and run it (in the report window, you can select "Word 2003 for Windows" since your colleague is using that. That will give you some hints on what to change.
You can try saving (file -- saveAs) in the RTF format - and try the Word 4-6 RTF and other formats as well). Good luck!

  • WIndows compatibility issue for itunes 7

I just upgraded to itunes 7. My shortcut icons for itunes are no lnger itunes images but a generic icon. Also when I open itunes it says my "version of itunes is set to run in compatibility mode to run with al older version of windows. For best results turn off compatibility mode before opening it"
Does anyone understand this error message and what is causing it?
Can you help me to get my icons back and to remove this error type message?
    thank you.

    Hey,
I'm having a similar problem. After I installed iTunes 7 on my computer, all the iTunes icons have been changed to a an image icon (jpg image). But I can open iTunes, the problem occurs when the song I am listening to ends and switches to a new song. When a new song is being played, iTunes uses up 100% CPU resources and the song starts to skip, this goes on for about a minute until everything returns back to normal... until the song ends and the next song starts to play, then it starts all over again.

  • Mac & Windows compatibility

Can I use Premiere Pro(and even Ae & Ps) project files made in Windows in Adobe on a Mac?  And visa versa?
Thank you for this important help.  Me and a friend a collabrating on projects and he owns a Mac while I own Windows based.  We are hopinfg we can use each others project files.

Your project file will be compatible on both pc and mac (unless it was
    created using a hardware-specific sequence/media setting i.e. Matrox, etc
that is not installed on the second system).
The real trick is making sure all of your media files are cross-platform compatible.

  • Intel Mac?  End of Windows-Apple compatability issues?

So, i'm a noob in the world of macs. when apple comes out w/ intel based notebooks and computers, will this mean you will be able to run pc only programs on the new intel macs? educate me, i've tried to research my question, and pretty much came up w/ no straight forward answer.
    -Ian

thanks for the responses. if you have anything else to add, please do so.
the main reason i bring this up, in which you can see in my other thread i posted, i'm looking to buy an apple laptop. but as a student majoring in electrical engineering, there are compatability issues. nonetheless, i'm pretty much set on buying an apple laptop, despite the issues. i will be doing what ifelix has stated, and use vpc to run any programs that i need to. and if worse comes to worse, i still have a desktop pc running windows, so i can just use that if vpc isn't working out for me.
seeing as to how i'm already writing in this post, i'm going to ask some questions:
i plan on buying a powerbook- faster, etc. but if i chose to buy an ibook, will that be able to run vpc as well as the powerbook? would i need to just throw in some more memory to get it up to par w/ the powerbook? b/c i love the design of the powerbook (a couple of my friends have one) but the ibook is like a couple hundreds of dollars cheaper.
throw in some knowledge if you can.
    thanks again

  • Should I expect any compatibility issues by working partly under Windows and partly under MAC OS?

Apologies if this point was already raised but could not find the answer.
I am considering the creative cloud in an environment where the same files will be worked within windows and MAC environment.
Should I expect any compatibility issues or difference with such a setup.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi JLCbac,
Files do support cross platform workflow, however, there are certain limitations to it.
Kindly refer the below mentioned links for more info.

  • Compatibility Issues with CS2 and Windows 2000 XP??? This is supposed to be THE one operating system CS2 DOES WORK ON? Can someone help - I really need my CS2 back! Thanks.

HELP! Years ago - SEVEN to be exact- I PURCHASED Adobe CS2 and used it extensively. Then I was in an accident that took five years to recover from. After my recovery I tried to get back to using my Adobe products only to find that Adobe was discouraging use of CS2 and since I OWN a LICENSE and that was the LAST version I used I wanted to begin again with a version I am familiar with. Many months later, apparently I wasn't the only one who wanted to KEEP USING CS2 and now Adobe has made it possible to download this version for PC and MAC, BUT due to OS compatibility issues Adobe continues to discourage downloading and use. HERE'S THE THING: I have the SAME SYSTEM running the SAME OS as when I first PURCHASED IT. I have downloaded the EXACT SAME VERSION of CS2. It installs fine. But I cannot OPEN the application and the troubleshooter reports there are "COMPATIBILITY ISSUES". WHY?!?!?!?!?
I'm on a PC running Windows 2000 XP. I OWN a LICENSE for Adobe CS2 and it used to run on this very same machine. I had to re-format my system two years ago so it has much more free space but when I  try to OPEN the application it won't run. When I run the Windows Troubleshooter it reports system compatibility issues?! Can anyone advise me what to try now??? Thank you.

Yes, I have. My system was completely cleaned of everything and I'm just now RE-INSTALLING CS2 for Windows2000 XP from the Adobe site that gives you versions to select for your OS. I have successfully downloaded disks 1,2 and 3 and I can INSTALL disks 1 and 2, but it FAILS at disk 3. I REALLY need to resolve this today because I need to submit some work by tomorrow and the troubleshooting isn't helping!
Can you advise anything else . . . anyone? Thank you!

ASk in the DW firum and be much more specific. Web page rendering issues are specific to specific versions of browsers and you may simply be using some bad code that messes up your page.

  • EssBase plugin VBA compatibility issues, Parallels and Win7 64bit on a MAC

I installed Parallels and Windows 7 64bit on my MAC and am still getting an VBA compatibility issue after installing Essbase Excel AddIn, when opening Excel. Any Solutions???

I am assuming this is a custom-built dust prevention solution, yes?
Anyways, I received my replacement SuperDrive and just realized that due to Windows and Mac's limitations in regards to hard drives larger than 2.2 TB, I can't have any of my 3TB drives with both OS X and Windows without having at least two separate HFS partitions on them since the Windows partition must be in the fourth partition, requiring OS X to be in partition 2, Recovery in partition 3, and the combined size of these first four partitions must be under 2.2 TB.
At least that's my understanding.  I currently have three 3 TB drives and one 1 TB drive (which contains Windows XP and 7 only).
I'm not really not sure if Windows has to be in the fourth partition because as I mentioned, my 1 TB drive has EFI in partition 1, Windows XP in partition 2, and Windows 7 in partition 3.  I have OS 10.9 on one 3 TB drive, OS 10.7 on the second 3 TB drive, and no OS on the third 3 TB drive.  I would prefer to install Windows 8 on that third 3 TB drive and yet have only one HFS partition because my desktop is already seemingly over-crowded with all the internal drives and partitions it has (I also have a 500GB SSD drive which is my 10.10 boot volume, plugged into one of the two unused SATA motherboard ports).
My plan is to first determine if I can now break the 1 TB drive barrier I ran into before and install two Windows OSs on a 2 TB drive (technically, I am going to clone my 1 TB Windows partitions onto the 2 TB drive).  Next, I will attempt to partition a 3 TB drive with Windows 8 in partition 2 and HFS in partition 3.

  • Compatibility issues between CS5.5 & new macs?

Hello all. Does anyone know if there are compatibility issues between Audition CS5.5 and new macs? Just got a 2013 MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9) and haven't been able to install my copy of CS5..5, which I've been using on an older mac for years. I've tried both the original installation disc and a download.
    Thanks!

Depends entirely on the application. You should probably visit the
    individual product forums for details.
I will tell you this. For InDesign you're not going to be happy at all.

  • How do I fix Reader XI compatability issues with Windows 7 Home Premium?

Compatability issues are keeping me from being able to open pdf files using Acrobat Reader XI.  I have Windows 7 Home Premium and am using Webroot Security.  It is telling me to try unprotected mode, but I would like to be able to use protected mode.  Any way to fix this?

All menu options in Reader DC are very faint compared to earlier Reader versions or other programs.  You should still be able to click Preferences on the Edit menu:
