Mac without CD reader: How to use remote Mac to transfer music to my library?

My mac does not have a CD reader, but my husband's mac does. How can I use his computer to process our music CDs and get them into my music library?

Thanks for the attempt, but this is fruitless....
There must be a better way.
Have you actually tried any of my suggestions?
I am really not following your comments.  AAC files can definitely be retained.  What were these files your AAC files needed that you had to buy from Apple???
You could create a dozen differnt libraries on your husband's computer if you need to.  Make a temporary one to rip your CDs, then delete it afterward.  You make it by holding down the option key while starting iTunes.  He switches back to his by doing the same.  iTunes presents you with options to create a new library or select a different one.
I know next to nothing about AppleTV and that wasn't part of your original question.  My suggestion for Home Sharing is it is a way to transfer music files from computer to computer without using a flash drive.  If you have more files than will fit on a flash drive (or no flash drive) it is handy.

How to use remote desktop client in mountain lion.
I want to connect my other system(ubuntu) using mac remote desktop client, But i could not locate remote desktop client in moutain lion.

In Ubuntu 12.xx use Dash to find "Desktop Sharing" and set the preferences, including requiring a password.
Then in Ubu use System Settings > Network to determine your Ubu machine's IP address, such as 192.168.1.13.
On the Mountain Lion Mac do Finder > Go > Connect to Server   and enter:  vnc://192.168.1.13  or whatever your IP is.  Enter the password that you used in the Ubu Desktop Sharing setup, when asked.
On the Ubu machine answer the question that pops up asking for permission to connect.  Your Ubu screen will now show up on the Mac, and you can remote control it.   Here I am running "Octave" (a math program) on the Ubu machine, remotely.
Works great!  BTW, you can do this from an iPad too, using a VNC client such as Mocha VNC Lite.  You can even run both remotes simultaneously.
    Good luck.

GSX, if you're referring to Apple's service by that name, is available only to employees of Apple-authorized service providers or self-servicing accounts. Unless you are employed by such an organization, you cannot access GSX. If you are employed by such an organization, they should set you up and give you the appropriate login information.
If you are interested in becoming a certified Apple hardware technician, you can find information here:
    http://training.apple.com/certification/acmt
Please note, though, that certification does not in and of itself give you access to any of the Apple resouces for support organizations; diagnostic tools, parts ordering, etc. You again must be employed by an authorized Apple support provider before you can gain such access.
I have no idea what "knowlaged" might be.
    Regards.

  • Using Remote Disc to transfer Office to Macbook Air and Time Machine backup

    Hello,
I just bought the new version of Macbook Air. At the store they said that transferring programs such as Office for Mac was as easy as just opening the sharing folderin preferences on my Imac and new Air and it would be a breeze. Do I have to install anything from the DVD that came with the Macbook Air to enable anything, or will I just, by wifi, start the two machines communicating?
Also, is there any easy way to just backup my last Time Machine backup from my Imac to the new Air, or does this take some doing? Can I backup the Time Machine info while still keeping all of the info on it for my usual work with the Imac?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

First, the instruction book that comes with your MBA will walk you step by step through how to use remote disc. Its not just an open and play thing -- you do have to futz with your other machine, copy over security codes to allow communication, etc -- but it will walk you right through it, so the manual is the place to start.
You can use your Time Machine backup by using the Migration Assistant -- that starts right off the bat when you first initialize your MBA right out of the box, or you can go to Applications>Utilities>Migration Assistant anytime you want.
One thing you should be aware -- you don't really have too many options for the migration -- it will copy over everything from your TIme machine so you better have enough room on your MBA to do that. You can select if you don't want files copied (i.e. music) but that is about it. I did just that wiht my MBP backup on TIme machine -- it was about 100 GB and my new MBA is 120 GB. No problems there, worked perfectly.
Don't do your migration wirelessly -- about 100GB wirelessly on the MBA with a fast cable broadband connection would take 16 - 20 HOURS to do a migration. Connect your MBA via the optional ethernet dongle to an ethernet cable, and hardwire that to an open ethernet port on your router -- 100GB will then take about 2 - 3 hours instead.
ANother thing you should be aware of -- while Apple really touts the Remote Disc and wireless capabilities of the MBA, they are for the birds. Invest the 99.00 in a superdrive. It will be the happiest purchase you make for your MBA. If you install your MS Office via remote disc, for example, your installation will take about an hour. It takes 3 minutes with the superdrive. That is the same for anything you try to do via remote disc. Yeah, it works. It just takes hours and hours of your time. I don't know about you, but I have no interest in waiting an hour for a program to install.
As to your final question -- your Time Machine backup will ALWAYS remain associated with your iMac. After the migration assistant completes, you do not have a connection to that backup on your MBA anymore. You will have to do a fresh backup of your MBA if you want to back it up to your TIme machine. The Time machine makes a specific backup for each computer that you own. You can copy from the backup, but you can't reaccess it later. It will remain accessable to your iMac.

  • HT4914 Can I use iTunes Match to transfer music from an iPhone4 to a new iPhone5s? I'm traveling without my laptop!

Can I use iTunes Match to transfer music from an iPhone4 to a new iPhone5s? I'm traveling without my laptop!
    - Music was purchased outside of iTunes store
    - On a vacation
    - iPhone 4 has all my music
    - No access to iTunes
    - Want to buy a new iPhone 5s on vacation but this is holding me back

Honestly, I've never used iTunes Match.
Keep in mind that iTunes Match is only for music, any other media content would not be affected.
Also, pictures synced to the device from a computer will not be moved over unless the new device is restored from a backup on that computer.
Personaly, unless the current iPhone was damaged or otherwise acting as if on it's last leg, I'd wait.  There may be better options in 3 months.

  • I used my ipad to transfer music to my wife's pc, now I have reconnected to my mac and itunes is not recognsing it - the ipad is not showing in the sidebar

I used my ipad to transfer music to my wife's pc, now I have reconnected to my mac and itunes is not recognsing it - the ipad is not showing in the sidebar and syncing not happening. I have tried resetting ipad and restarting etc but still no joy. Anyone had a similar experience?

Take it to the Apple Store for evaluation.
    Try this.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the Sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut Off. To power up hold the Sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time (for about 10-15 seconds) until the Apple logo appears (ignore the red slider), then let go of the buttons.

  • How can I add a folder of music to my library?

How can I add a folder of music to my library?

I am mystified as to what drag and drop folder into iTunes 11 means.  My music is in a folder in "My Documents"/Windows 7. I can copy and paste the individual folders of music within the back up folder, and drop them into the music folder in iTunes.  But, this is ridiculous.  It was easy and promoted user enjoyment to have the ability to add folders from wherever on your computer, into the iTunes library. Why did Apple reduce the users enjoyment, by flubbing up a pretty good music file system?
    Work around?
