Mac won't allow me to login

Whenever I turn on the Mac, it makes the normal sound and the white background with the gray apple appears, but when it's don't loading, it goes black. You can move the mouse around but nothing is there. Please help.

I meant to say when it's done loading, not don't.

  • My mac won't allow me to login to the user account

    Hi,
Everytime I try to log in it says " you are unable to login to user 'useraccount' at this time". But I manage to login to the admin user account.
Fyi, I have two users under this macbook. The one that is rejecting me is the additional username, with the ability to act as admin as well.
Unfortunately, all my files are under that the additional username.
    Any idea?
The guys at service center said that I should re-install using the CD/DVD provided with the laptop. But, I want to have some assurance that I am able to retrieve all the data inside, including the emails I have under entourage.
Please-please help....Any suggestions will do. Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for the tips. I did use FileVault to secure all my sensitive files. But, I still used a generic password and I have it written down too. So I knew I entered the right password.
Even when I entered wrong password, login kept on asking me to UNLOCK filevault --using master password. I did that too.
I also tried to move the file from that user-account and copy it to another user-account and it gave this (useraccount).sparseimage file, with a total of 25 GB in it. What's that supposed to mean?
If I copy that file to an external hard drive and delete whatever left in the computer, including the user account, would that affect my mac?
    Thank you....

  • IMac won't allow me to login after few hours

    Hi everyone...
My iMac won't allow me to login after few hours. Actually I had a limited broadband connection which is free from 2AM to 8AM. So I have scheduled some downloads to start at 2AM and end at 8AM. Before going to bed, I just put on the screen saver. When I wake early in the morning and move my mouse.. blank screen turns on and colorful spinning wheel appears, but log-in window doesn't appear. This has happened thrice till now. Day before yesterday it was fine. But yesterday and today I got the same problem. Previously also it was working fine. I can't figure out why it is behaving like this...
Initially, in Power save options, I scheduled iMac to wake up at 2AM and sleep at 8AM and then used to put iMac to sleep before going to bed. It was working fine and did the same thing for more than a month. Now I have removed wakeup & sleep scheduled options from Power save options.
    Following are the settings/options selected:
    1. In energy save options, I have selected the option not to put iMac to sleep when it is inactive for certain time.
    2. Put hard-disks to sleep whenever possible is checked.
    3. I have scheduled the downloads in Azureus, Transmission and Speed download 5.
Following are the temps and rpms:
    Temps:
    HD: iMac, Vista: 124 F
    CPU A: 117
    Airport Card: 151 F
    Ambient: 83 F
    GPU: 133 F

    GPU Heatsink: 137 F
    HD Bay1: 124 F
    Mem Controller: 121 F
    Optical Drive: 110 F
    Power supply1: 162 F
    Fans:
    CPU Fan: 1198 rpm
    Hard Drive: 1199rpm
    Optical Drive: 998rpm
One more thing, recently I have reset the SMU because it is taking too long to boot up. To my surprise, after restarting, fan (not sure which one) started to make bigger sounds. I then had to reset SMU two times and only then fan started to spin normally without any noise. I'm scared & worried...
Someone please help me where I went wrong.... what can I do to solve this problem..
You know I purchased this iMac for Rs.86000/- INR ($2097 approx.) ... after two months they slashed the prices by Rs.20000/- INR($487 approx.)... so this is how my luck seems to be

Hello and sorry. First, if you reset the SMU. make sure you do not hold the power button down while reconnecting the cable or it will reset the SMC incorrectly.
When you say you are logging in, are you logging onto the internet, or onto the computer/user account?
If it is intermittent than it sounds like your internet and that would be best handled by your internet provider first.

If it is your internet you are referring to than try going to the Apple in the top left corner and clicking on it.
Than click on the System Preferences
    Then click on Network
    Then click on Assist Me.
    Then Assistant

  • Brand new Mac, had to erase drive through disk utility as time machine back up failed. Now disk utility only has the option to install Mountain Lion which my Mac won't allow. Anyone any ideas as my Mac won't load anything up but disc utility!

Brand new Mac, had to erase drive through disk utility as time machine back up failed on initial setup, USB cable popped out Now can only access disk utility as won't load to log in screen. The only has the option in disc utility is to re-install Mountain Lion which my Mac won't allow or loading another time machine back up but after an hour of it processing, that didn't resolve the issue either! The time machine back up is the latest back up of my Mac Book Pro which was using OS X Maverix. I'm guessing I'm going to have to take my Mac to the store but that would be a hassle so does anyone have any ideas?

Follow this guide using another Mac.
Insert your newly created Mavericks USB into you Mac, press the power button and then hold down 'option,' until it gives you an option to boot from the USB. You will then be able to erase the internal disk with Disk Utility and reinstall Mavericks straight after.
After that you should be able to use Migration Assistant to restore your applications and user data.

  • Mac won't allow me to save anything to external HD.

I have an early 2011 MacBooc Pro and I have a brand new never used 500GB HP portable Hard drive, whenever I attempt to save anything or transfer anything from the HD it will not allow me?
    Something about permissions...
I know its vague I'm completely idiotic when it comes to computers.
    Any help would be appreciated.

maybe it's because your Hard drive format. is it NTFS? If it is in NTFS format, then your macbook pro won't allow you to write data on your HDD, it's only allow you to copy data from your HDD into your macbook pro's drive.
I suggest that you buy software Paragon NTFS for your mac, or you can simply re-format your HDD into exFAT, because mac osx is now fully support exFAT format. To do this, you can simply format it using windows based PC or using Disk utility in your macbook. hope it helps!

  • How can I install a driver for HP Laserjet P3005. My mac won't allow installation?

My macbook won't allow em to install the driver for HP Laserjetp3005. Any ideas?

Apple suppies all the drivers for all the printers that work with any specific os x version. Just go to the Print & scan section of system preferences and Add Printer (Plus ( + ) Sign) and if it is supported the driver will be there.

  • I just downloaded the new version of itunes to my PC and now it won't allow me to login

I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes to my PC and I went to login to my account to change some of the settings, but now it will not allow me to do so. I even went in and changed my password and it still will not allow me to log in. I was able to login to my itunes on my iPhone and my iPad, its just my PC that isnt allowing me to do so.

    Hello ahermesman,
Thank you for all the information of the steps you have taken.  The steps you took rule out a password issue, and it sounds like it is only happening on your PC.  I found an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

Follow the steps under the section labeled "Troubleshooting on Windows." I hope this helps get you back on track!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Mac won't allow log in, shut down, restart or sleep

This morning I started my Mac but it wouldn't allow me to log in, shut down, sleep, restart or anything else.  I phoned for help and was told to shut down by holding the button on the back.  Then unplug Mac from the power source and leave for a couple of minutes.  Reconnect plug into socket and re-start using the button on back.  This fixed it!  Apparently, static power can remain in the system sometimes, causing this kind of problem.  You need to disconnect from the power source and wait to allow all the static to drain from system, before re-connecting.  Hope this helps.

As a followup, upon the advice from someone else I created another user account (non admin) and logged in as that user. From that account I could successfully power down.
I'm still convinced the issue is related to Software Update as examining the logs showed none of the Software Update related entries as above:

  • New mac won't allow me to add files to my old external hard drives.

    Hi there,
I've been trying my hardest to figure out how to do this without having to delete all of my files and reformatting my external HD, but I haven't been able to find a solution. Maybe I'm not using the right keywords when I search for solutions?
    Anyway...
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro, and have since been unable to transfer any files (photos/video/documents) from this new Mac, to any external HD's (that worked fine on my previous Mac as well as other Macs).
However, I am able to drag files from the external HD to my mac, and transferring files to a small USB works without an issue.
How do I fix this, without deleting/wiping the external HD so I can transfer files onto it?
Thanks so much for any help!
