Mac won't load

Question

Hi Guys
I installed the latest security update on my mac book pro on thursday night. since then I've had nothing but bother, from word not opening due to a quicktime error, my CD drive wasn't recognised and now I am getting the following error.
/etc/master.passwd: Invalid argument
-sh: /etc/profile: Invalid argument
-sh-2.05~ CSRHIDTransitionDriver::stop
IOBluetoothHCIController::start Idle Timer Stopped
grey screen loads at the start and then this error message appears. anyone got any ideas on how to resolve the issue. came home to get my installation CD's but they are no were to be found. anyone know where I can get replacement ones?

well some follow that belief, i updated asap, less people have issues after updates than those that have issues resolved by far (normally at least).
i dont know what that error exactly means but i would try booting from the install disk and see if the disk is ok, see if your HD some how got deselected as the boot drive, reset password maybe (do that last if the other stuff doesnt work), and maybe an apple hardware test.
if none of that works you can try to erase and install and see if that fixed is or call apple but more than likely they will tell you to do that (even though most of the time they just say to because its on their list of stuff to say and it has a high chance of not really being the less invasive fix it is one of the easiest for them to have you do) but for this situation it may be the only fix
if all else fails call apple, in all honesty i dont think this is related to the update at least directly as the cause, random errors getting worse screams hardware to me.
