Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Ever had a problem where your computer won't turn on after sleeping for a few minutes? (I've discovered that too many downloads cause this) Anyway... have you ever tried pushing the power button for one second? Try it! It's been working for me! Hope this helped!
(If it still won't turn on, try typing in letters randomly for one minute. Just type anything like: asdjhas)

iPhone5S is bricked after software update.  Apparently this is becoming widespread.  Hello, Apple??????  http://www.techienews.co.uk/976861/apple-ios-7-0-6-update-allegedly-bricks-iphon e-5s-ipad-air/  http://www.thebitbag.com/iphone-5s-and-ipad-air-bricked-by-apple-ios-7-0-6-updat e/70286

    Hey Stheus3,
Thanks for the question, I understand how frustrating this may be. It sounds like the update process may have been interrupted, and to resolve the issue, we’ll need to restore your device in recovery mode with iTunes:

  • My iPod touch 5th generation won't turn on after the new iOS update

I've just updated my iPod touch 5th generation to the iOS 8.1.1. (or whatever the newest update is) but once it updated, it now won't turn back on. I've tried plugging it into multiple chargers and computers just in case it wasn't charged, and tired turning it on, but all I get is the apple logo and nothing's happening. What can I do? I haven't backed it up this month and I don't want to loose all my stuff. Thanks.

Try the following. It is very likely that the iPod will have to be erased:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

In the future make sure yo backup before updating. I always backup to both iTunes and iCloud before updating .

  • Screen won't turn on after sleep for newest macbook pro (Feb 26 2011)

    Hi!
I just bought the 13' Macbook Pro with an 2.7GHz dual-core i7 processor and 500GB of space, the $1500 model. I am having a problem with the screen and I am wondering if I should be worried about it or if anyone else has noticed it. If it continues, I will have to take it into the store and see if I can get it fixed.
My macbooks screen will not turn on after it falls asleep for a long period of time. The first night I had this computer, it was playing music and I turned the screen brightness all the way down/off and then I fell asleep. The energy settings were set so that the computer would fall asleep after 20 minutes. Pathfinder, F.lux and iTunes were the only application running at the time. When I woke up the next morning, the light on the computer's side indicating it was asleep was slowly fading in and out (as expected). I hit some keys on the keyboard and the keyboards backlighting turned on after a few seconds.
But the screen did not turn on. I tried adjusting the screen brightness on the keyboard and nothing happened. After a few minutes, I held down the power button and heard the computer turn off. I turned the computer back on, AND THE SCREEN LOOKED VERY STRANGE. I could see part of iTunes fragmented/segmented into 5 or 6 sections across the screen. There were also strange lines going across the screen. It looked kind of like a leftover image of iTunes that could be solved with a screen refresh. I turned off my computer again and turned it back on about two more times, and then the screen would simple just not turn on.
As I was packing up to go to the Apple Store, I tried one more time to turn my computer on and the screen was working fine. This was yesterday, and for the rest of the day the computer seemed to work fine. However, I don't think I let my computer fall asleep all day yesterday because I was using it so much.
Basically the same thing happened this morning when I woke up, except to a lesser degree. My computers screen was unresponsive after keyboard input, but I was able to get music to play from my speakers. I restarted it and it seems to be working fine. I didn't see the screen do that weird fragmentation thing this time.
I think something about the sleep function is interfering with my computer's screen. Or perhaps Pathfinder or F.lux have something to do with it. F.lux, by the way, is a application that turns the screen a dark yellowish at night to help your eyes. But I have friends that use this application and I myself have used it for a while and we have never had this problem. Then again, none of them have a 13 inch with an i7.
Does anyone know about this problem and have advice that would save me a trip to the Apple store?
    thanks!

Bad news and good news. The bad news is that it happened again this morning. The good news is that I finally found something interesting in the console log, at the exact second my clock is stuck when the machine is failing to wake from sleep:

From when the problem apparently starts (some point in the night while my machine is idle and supposedly asleep) until when I discover it and reboot the machine, I get dozens or hundreds of the above messages. Now somebody just needs to figure out what that means and stop it from happening...

  • Computer won't turn on after Software Updates

About a month ago my computer had some Windows Updates, I installed them as per usual, it asked to restart the computer, but once it shut down, it wouldn't turn back on. I tried a few different outlets, no change (all of these outlets work). I left it unplugged overnight (8-10 hours) and when I plugged it in the following morning, it turned on and was fine until this past weekend.
Again, there were more updates, this time it was for AVG and when it went to restart, it again wouldn't turn on. I tried the same thing, and it's not coming on. The light by the power button will flash when I push the button, real quick, but nothing. The light in the back shows power going to it.  I believe my computer is in the HP All-in-One 200 family, but I'm not sure which one (and though I've registered it, it doesn't tell me on my account which one I have, or I just can't find it).
Is the motherboard done, maybe the RAM, or the HDD? I don't have the money to get a new computer at the moment so I really want to try and get a few more years out of this one (I have had it for 5 years). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • IPhone won't turn on after software update

Last night I went to update my iPhone 4S to the latest iOS 7. I went to sleep while it was updating and it was charging and when I woke up it wasn't on and it kept vibrating every few seconds when it was charging. I tried to turn it on, then I tried to restart it and held the home and sleep buttons for 20 seconds. I tried connecting it to iTunes and iTunes won't detect a device. Any help??

I tried to restart it and held the home and sleep buttons for 20 seconds.
    Try it this way ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off.
Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • 6700 Classic - won't turn on after software update

    HELP!!!!!!!!
I decided to update my phone software on my phone (not through a pc/laptop) It said installing 1/3 might go off for 30 secs ........ an hour later it is still flashing a blank gray screen with a line across the top, I took battery out and left for 20 mins but nothing changed when I put battery back in ......
Please help as this is my only form of contact as  I'm housebound

Sorry for the delay, I don't check the forums all that reguarly. You have to send the phone back to the retailer who in turn sends it to nokia - the whole process took about 2-3 weeks if I recall correctly.
On a better note, some progress on this has been made! I ordered a 6700 classic on Vodafone through my Vodafone Platinum business provider, but stipulated it must be running v13.1. They came back saying Nokia wouldn't authorise this on the batch of phones they had.
So, as my girlfriend's Sony Ericsson was failing, I took a 6700 classic running v10.5. When I received it, I knew not to attempt the upgrade over the air, so just before handing the phone to her, I plugged it into my Ovi suite and ran the update checker - and v13.1 was available!
Some progress indeed. So, it might not work for all networks, but certainly for a 6700 classic from Vodafone, it seems this can be upgraded to the latest version - OK not over the air, at least I don't think so, I am certainly not going to try that again but there is a solution for some nonetheless using Ovi and being on the right network - its a network/country lottery it would seem.
Perhaps Nokia or someone who has recently used the phone's built-in update method can confirm or deny this method working?

  • Blackberry Z10 won't turn on after software update. Black screen and LED light blinking

Im using BB Z10 (stl-100-1 ) os version 10.3.1 for 9 months, recent days it hangs a lot and  it hanged later  not turning on and red led has been blinking simultanously. please help me

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it fails, please do it again but increase the step 4 wait time to 2 hours, and perhaps as long as 4-5 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • MacBook Pro 15" 2007 won't turn on after leaving Snow Leopard update in the drive

    Hi Everyone,
After installing Snow Leopard 10.6.3, I left the cd in the drive when I turned the computer off. When I tried to turn the computer back on again, the screen told me that I needed to restart the computer by holding down on the power button. So I did, but the message came up again. I did it again. The third time, the computer wouldn't turn on at all.
I removed the cd by opening up my computer--something I had done in the past because of problems with the keyboard. (The keyboard was never fixed, and the trackpad didn't work either, so I used USB connections. The powerbutton never was affected though)
    Two questions:
First, what would you say is the culprit in the first problem with the messages to restart the computer? How might I address this?
Second, knowing the secondary information about the keyboard connections, how might this affect fixing the problem? Could the powerbutton now be affected, especially since I lifted the keyboard off?
Lastly, I've looked into restarting the SMC, and turning on the computer without the button. I have tried the first of these two options, and will soon attempt the second (If anyone can send me a link to better explain turning on the computer without a button for my model, I'd be grateful.)
Any more advice (short of bringing it into the shop!) would be helpful.

Try powering up and push in your install disc(use your original install disk if you have it, maybe try the retail SL disc white with the cat as a second choice) holding the C key (this should make it boot from the disc) select your language, click continue, in the next screen in the menu bar click Utilities/Disk utilities, select (highlight your volume from the left column, default name is Macintosh HD, unless you renamed it) click the first aid tab, then click verify disk, if it comes up with errors (they will be in red font) if you get errors, run repair disk, run it repeatedly if necessary till it comes up with this disk seems ok (in green font)
    Then run permissions repair.
Log out and reboot see what you get.
You may have to reinstall the 10.6.3 OSX again, do this by powering up and pushing in the disk holding the C key and follow the prompts. if you have a successful install, eject the disc, and reboot. The next thing you need to do is run software update, there will be many and you want to do them one at a time. (use an ethernet connection as opposed to wireless, as there is much chance of corruptions. The first one to run is the 10.6.8 combined v 1.1, the keep running software update one at a time till there are none offered.
    Hope this helps

  • IPhone 3G Won't Turn On After OS 4.0 Update

A little background about my iPhone 3G to help you guys out -- the sleep/wake button hasn't worked in a few months, so if, say, Safari freezes, I let the battery die out to restart my phone. A major pain, I know.
Tonight I decided to update through iTunes to the OS 4.0. It seemed as if everything was going well, but after about an hour of backing up and installing, my phone is now permanently turned off seeming to have never restarted from the update. To make matters worse, it is no longer recognized by iTunes or my PC. As stated, the sleep/wake button doesn't work so a hard reset or restore is physically impossible. Does anyone have suggestions on how to restore the phone back to the previous OS?
I'm currently trying to reinstall iTunes as I type this.

After several hours of various numerical error messages, freezing loop, iTunes not recognizing the 3G, rebooting the computer (iMac), hard resets, etc, I forced it off and went to bed. Today I found that while iTunes still would not recognize the phone as it would normally, it did when I unplugged and then plugged in the phone. The phone was then restored ( 4.0 was obviously installed last night and then went into a loop). I refused backup, restored OS, but did not continue to restore from back up. The phone is now operational and synced via mobile me, however no apps than system. Based on the latter I will not allow iTunes to restore my backup until this problem is resolved. Some of the said apps are used for business, but I have the iPad to sync them with in the interi.
