MacAlly mouse problems with Tiger

Since the most recent Tiger update, 10.4.2, my Powerbook G3 400 Firewire doesn't recognize my Optimouse when coming out of sleep unless I unplug and re plug it. The Optimouse was working fine in 10.4.1 with or without the Macally driver installed but now the problem persists also with and without the driver. Just a pain in the *** and I was wondering if anyone else was having similar probs and if there is a cure.
Thanks

  • Mouse problems with Illustrator CS6 and Mountain Lion

The mouse in Illustrator selects and deselects as it moves over buttons and cells:
    1. In Graph data the cells the mouse passes over go dark grey if not already selected, then deselect if they are selected. This makes it very difficult to use the data cells.
    2. In Layers window, where I may have 100s of layers, I want to hide one layer or more which are not necessarily adjacent to each other. Illustrator hides all of the layers it passes. It is very difficult to click and unclick the show/hide button (and also the lock button). Ditto with show or unlock toggle layer. I had to start up in Lion in which Illustrator does not have this problem in order to get a job finished in time.
Seems there needs to be a fix for Illustrator to work properly in Mountain Lion.
Has anyone found such a fix?

No I don't have Right-Zoom (don't know what it is), but I have the same problem with Apple's Track Pad, which I don't use much and I only use the inbuilt software.
I use Kensington Slim Blade and before that LogiTech's marble mouse and both need their software to work properly.
All of them work fine in Lion and earlier. Could it be that Adobe has overlooked some new aspect that’s in Mountain Lion which, in my case, needs to be fixed for Illustrator?

  • Mouse problem with pluggins

    Hi
I have had this problem since logic 9 and was blaming SSL Duende, as that was the only pluggin set with the fault but i've just noted a free Brainworx "solo" pluggin has same problem.
Problem is when a Duende pluggin is visible on screen i get weird behaviour as in, if i run project and press space bar to pause, it wont pause until i move the mouse, same with other commands and if i say, press on a pluggin bypass switch, it wont respond until i move the mouse. If i have other pluggins open at same time as SSL i get no animation from them, like output meters or spectrum graphics until mouse is moved and i have to keep it moving other wise no animation. As i said this has only been since 9 and have been in touch with SSL "we cant reproduce this yet but are working on it".... and have had no joy with them, and since this has appeared on another third party pluggin i was wondering if anyone has had this problem and know a fix, as it's really annoying
    Cheers for any replies Ronny

This happens quite a bit on the recently released beta's of Solaris Express and I would guess OpenSolaris as well. There was a thread on OpenSolaris.org that Jurgen Keil posted that disables some aspects of the CPU that on my system at least alleviated the issues.
I've not seen any reports on it from Solaris 10 so it might be unrelated. Which version of Solaris specifically are you using?

  • Mouse problem with FCP: drops clips or do not respond to clicks.

    hi to all.
since i bought my macpro i've been noticing a very annoying problem when using FCP. there's a moment when the mouse stops to work properly and begins to drop clips when i try to move it or do not respond to clicks. two examples: 1- i want to move a clip from the end of the timeline to its beggining. in the middle of the way, it just drops the clip, as if i stoped pressing the mouse button. 2- i choose the pen tool so i can play with opacity and create fades. in the middle of the process of adjusting, it stops to work. i have to keep pressing several times to complete the action.
the problem is basically with the CLICK function. the cursor responds to the mouse properly, but when you click something to move it, it doesn't recognizes when you stop it and drops things. it happens only with fcp.
i'm using fcp 6.0.1, though the problem happened when i was using fcp 5.

I have a similar problem with my mouse in FCP. Perhaps not the same thing, but I think I figured out it's due to the design of the mouse. It's an Apple A1152, a white one-button mouse with a little scroll wheel. The thing is the whole top presses down for the click, and if I don't grab the two little tabs on the side that give you the leverage to keep on pressing the top, across larger distances I lose the pressure necessary and I drop whatever it is I was dragging. It's a pain because my hand is not the right size or shape to naturally get a hole of those little tabs. I don't know if your problem is related in any way but I thought I'd mention it just in case...,

  • Mouse problems with v10.7 Lion and VMWare Fusion 3.1.3; reboot of Lion temporarily fixes it

Since installing Lion, my VMWare Fusion 3.1.3 Windows 7 and XP virtual machines have very strange mouse problems.  I thought it might have been caused by 3rd party software on my iMac (Mouse Zoom), because it seemed to work after removing the software, but I have now discovered that it is actually the reboot of OS X v10.7 (and now v10.7.1) that temporarity removes the problem.  However, after a while the problem comes back, requiring another reboot of Lion.
The problem is strange behavior of mouse button clicks inside the virtual machine, e.g. unable to double click on a folder or program in Windows because it jumps back to the higher folder tree, as if I had hit the ESC key.  In addition to my USB and BlueTooth mice, the Mac touchpad also has the problem.  I have confirmed that the problem is probably in how VMWare maps the iMac human interface devices (HIDs) to the virtual mouse inside the VM, because I am able to get correct mouse function by attaching one of my mice directly to the Virtual Machine (there is an edit to the VMX file that enables HID devices).
I have deleted and reinstalled VMWare Fusion 3.1.3 per suggestions on the VMWare support site and/or various forums, but that did not help.

According to: http://roaringapps.com/app:61 Version 3.1.3 has issues with Lion.  There is a 2011 beta that works better.

  • Problems with Tiger Install

Previously having OS 10.2, I tried to install 10.4 from an installation disc over 10.2, and it failed to install. After failing to install, the computer made me restart, and now it goes to a screen giving an error about a Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5 Driver. The Computer can't find drivers for 10.4 and 10.5. I cannot boot from an Apple I-care disc, the machine tries to boot into an OS, but there is a question mark, instead of an OS Icon in the middle of the screen, and then shortly after comes the error message. The machine locks up.
I thought maybee the problem was intalling OS10.4 as an update, because there was a gap between version previously installed and the new one, but the installation guide says OS 10.2 or later is updatable.
    Please Help.

    Hi Brandon,
If you are not able to start up from your installation DVD there might be a problem with your DVD drive.
If this is the case then there are two things you might do:
1- (and most obvious) take your Mac in for repair.
2- Fire Wire Target Disk Mode... (For this option you will need a second Mac)
    - Target Disk Mode will basically turn your iMac into an external HD, by doing this you will be able to use a second Mac with a working disc drive to start up from the Tiger DVD and then install it on your iMac.
If you are going to do this it is important that no other FireWire devices are connected to either of the computers.
How to start your iMac in Target Disk Mode: Start up the computer and immediately press and hold down the T key until the FireWire icon appears.
Once you have done this connect it to the second Mac (with FireWire)
Now insert the Tiger DVD in the second Mac, when the disk appears on the Desktop open it and double click on "install"
A window with a restart button will appear... click and restart (there will be no need to hold the "c" key.
Once the computer has started up from the Tiger DVD you need to find UTILITIES or TOOLS (i can remember the exact name) on the top bar
Click on it and open Disk Utility then follow the steps of my previous post.
Make sure that you have selected the correct HD to erase and install (it will not be the first one on the list)
    Good Luck.

  • IMac won't burn cds...Problem with Tiger?

I used to have Panther and I would occasionally get error messages when trying to burn cds, mostly the buffer has been underrun. I upgraded to tiger and the problem worsened and I began getting other error message. Mostly "the device failed to calibrate the laser power needed for this media" sometimes it just spits out the cd without an error message. I have a warrantly with Fry's. They have had my computer for over 3 months and keep claming that there is no problem with my comptuer, even though they have seen the error (what idiots!) ..
Their recent claim is that it is a software issue, and that the superdrive in the imac is not compatible with tiger, and I need to downgrade to my original OS. I find this very hard to believe. WHy would apple come out with an OS that is not compatible with the superdrive??
Keep in mind, everybody at Fry's seems to no NOTHING about Macs...This is the last time I buy an Apple from there!!
Does anybody know anything about this issue??

i have almost the same problem, i have an imac G5, i jus purchased it last october, i use it to burn stuff all the time and nothing happens, until like a couple of dayz ago.. i tried to burn a cd and it ddnt work, i uninstalled toast and installed it again, restarted my computer but it still ddnt work.. but when i burnt a DVD it worked, but it cant burn cds. i have no idea why this is happening. it has never happened before...helllllllpppppppppppppppppp please because i really need to use it.....

  • Wired Mighty Mouse problems with Mavericks.

Alright, so today I was gifted a wired Apple mighty mouse for Christmas and immediately after I started to use it, the cursor started to 'rubber band' (snapping back to previous positions). I've searched around and tried numerous supposed fixes that include resetting the Hot Corners, rebooting into safe mode and cleaning the mouse itself with no success. I recently updated to Mavericks if that's any help. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi ~Bee Thanks for your advice I do believe it its fine now !
Looks like I need a new Mouse mat, It's strange how the mat affected the mouse I haven't had any problems in the past ? I have also cleaned the mat and still have the same problem if I continue to use it. Could you recommend a mat to buy by any chance ?
Thanks also to you Dave, Looks like we got there in the end !

  • Apple Mighty Mouse problems with OS Leopard

Ever since I upgrade to Leopard a fortnight ago, I've had problems with my Apple wireless mouse (Mighty Mouse, which I bought 2 months ago). When my computer wakes up from sleep, my mouse stops working. I would then go to System Preference - Bluetooth Preferences, but the computer would get stuck; I would have to Force Quit out of System Preferences. Then, when I shut down the computer, it would go through the normal shutdown process but get stuck at the blank screen with the spinning gear icon; it would stay there for more than 10 minutes (which is the longest I waited before doing a hard shutdown). I have re-paired the mouse with my computer numerous times, recalibrated the machine with the assistance of the Apple helpdesk tech support, but still my mouse would not work when my Macbook Pro wakes up from sleep. Even the tech-support person at apple did not know why my computer gets stuck when I try to shut down. The annoying thing is that it only happens when my computer wakes up from sleep; otherwise, it works fine. My mouse worked perfectly when I had OS 10.4. Hopefully it is bluetooth bug that apple will fix with a new 10.5 update. Can anybody advise?

Same issues for me with my iMac.
I migrated from Windows to MacBook (about 14 months ago).
I was so pleased with Apple, and decided to ditch my PC for an iMac about three months ago.
Sadly Leopard has not proved to be a bug free stable OS for me, and I am sorely disappointed.
The Mighty Mouse BT issue is incredibly annoying for me.
Interestingly, sometimes when I do manage a restart, and it freezes, my menu bar indicates that my internet connection is by Airport (a known bug as well, I think?). My iMac connects via Ethernet, and Airport is switched off. So is there a link? Co-incidence?
Bottom line: I am very disappointed with these frustrating bugs, and Apple appears not to be listening.
My MacBook also some sporadic issues: when I wake it from sleep, sometimes the svreen goes blank, and unresponsive, and requires a restart. I use a trackpad.
Leopard has some bad bugs, and I feel very letdown by Apple.

  • Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse problems with new macbook pro.

Got a Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse to use with my recent 2011 macbook pro running 10.6.7.  There appear to be several problems with this combination.
    1. If the mouse is not moved for a few seconds and I move it, the pointer does not respond immediately, and when it does, the pointer motion stutters and jerks across the screen for a few seconds before it starts moving smoothly. I don't see any spike in CPU usage when this happens.
    2. When I shutdown/reboot or sometimes even put the macbook pro to sleep and wake it up, the machine fails to communicate with the mouse, nothing happens even if I reset/restart the mouse or click, scroll or move it around. The only fix is to go to the bluetooth settings and set it up as a new device.
I suspected a hardware problem on either the mouse or the mac, but (a) the mouse works perfectly fine on an older Sony Vaio laptop and (b) the apple wireless keyboard works pretty fine with none of these problems with my macbook. Would getting an apple magic mouse magically solve this problem?
Has anyone else faced this situation, and could it be fixed?

Any issues you are having with a "Logitech" product, should be dealt with their tech/customer support department.

  • Printer problem with Tiger in Core Duo Mac

Having problem with HP Deskjet 5650 using this setup.
1)Prints extremly slowly - maybe 3 minutes a page of print.
2)Prints color when set for black.
The cartridge is o.k. in an other mac with Panther. I have installed the most recent printer driver.
    Anyone else seeing this problem?

I got an  tip of a friend: It was Bug in Mac OS 10.6.7. Here the to resolve the problem for all they want not wait the bugfix of apple (on your own risk, but it helped me):

  • A login problem with Tiger

    Hello,
My computer recently has been holding up really fine, until yesterday.
I was playing around with the demo version NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, when all of a sudden the game began to freeze up and then crashed. After a few minutes, the dock just froze when I tried to reopen the game, preventing me from opening any applications nor shutting down my Mac. Therefore, I forcefully shut down my computer after a few attempts to restarting from the Apple Menu.
When I turned on my Macbook, the problem became much more serious. When I logged onto my account, nothing happened. All I got was the pointer and the desktop.
I tried to solve the problem by running Disk Utility, repairing the disk permissions, but the nothing fixed the problem.
Now I need a solution without having to reinstall Tiger on my Macbook.
    Any solution is welcome.
    Regards,
    Wampus Cat

Never install something like that without first making a full backup (clone) of your system on either an external or (if you have a desktop computer) an extra internal drive. If you had done that someone could say "just boot up your backup and clone it back it your primary drive". I'm not saying this to make you feel bad but as "baltwo" has pointed out, you don't have any good alternatives outside of going through the whole re-install/reconfigure thing. Next time.....

  • Mouse problem with kernel25suspend2

Hi I've installed kerner26suspend2 with pacman, but my mouse and touchpad under X don't work after boot (not only after resume). Under the default vmlinuz26 stock kernel everything is ok.
I have excluded from mkinitrdcpio.conf the autodetect HOOK, because my machine hanged. Is there any chance I can load PS/2 module for my mouse?

    Problem is solved
    modprobe intel_agp
    modprobe agpgart
    modprobe radeon
    that's it!
It looks like none of the above mentioned modules are loaded during startup.

  • Mighty Mouse: Problems with it everyday!

Can someone please advise me on what to do with my new mighty mouse? I've had it for a couple of months now, and everyday it is affected by at least one of three functional glitches. These are:
    1. The click, scroll and side bars stop functioning (the movement sensor still functions)
    2. The index finger scroll pimple stop functioning in the up direction only (but not the down).
    3. The movement sensor becomes slow and jittery.
I paid good money for this state of the art bluetooth device, and I expected more. I used a wireless mouse designed for a windows OS last year at it never had problems like this. (And it cost less than half the price!)
I know if I take it back to the shop they will just take it away and test it and I'll be without a mouse for a few weeks, so what should I do? Is it faulty? Is this normal?

This is not normal operation. You should have it checked out. This will help with the scroll ball not functioning in one direction.
