    Hi there Rlong50,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • Mac Pro Desktop faulty power cord

Eeeek! My Mac Pro power cord failed on me. I own a three-year old Xeon 64-bit workstation that decided not to power up today. After troubleshooting, I thought it might be a faulty power cord, so I borrowed a cord from my old Power Mac (really old, from 2004) and it actually worked. I am able to power up, but I don’t want to rely on a 10-yr old power cord for much longer. Does anyone out there in Mactopia know where I can buy a spare? I can't seem to find a source by searching online. All that pops up are MacBook Pro power cables, and my system is a desktop not a laptop.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Jennifer

There is nothing magical about that power cord -- it is a regular EIC power cord like the ones described here:

Radio Shack probably carries them, although they seem to be having an identity crisis.

  • Protective cap for power cord

    Hi everyone-
I've lost the protective cap for the power cord, does anyone know where I can find some replacement ones?
    Thanks
    Aimee

You may be able to find one at an Apple Authorized Service Provider:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434
They may have a few laying around. I used to make it a point to hold on to them with my first MacBook back in 2006. To be honest, I lost it shortly there after and I've never been very concerned about them with the few machines I've had since then. Unless you're keeping the charger in a very dirty environment or find that you're prone to spilling things... you shouldn't have any problems.

  • MacBook Pro crash when power cord is removed

When the power cord is disconnected the computer shuts off within about 0 to 15 minutes.
The log files do not show any fatal errors that have caused the crashes.
the only error that keeps repeating is: com.apple.launchd: (com.apple.launchd.peruser.32710[614]) getpwuid("32710") failed
However, i do not believe this would cause the crashes.
    Any ideas?

This morning I went to turn on my MacBook Pro and the power cord is not "lighting up".

  • The power cord keeps falling of my MacBook Pro?

I love my new MacBook Pro but the power cord keeps falling off and it's driving me a little crazy. It's already been replaced once so that's not the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, besides duct tape, please let me know?

Denise, the new magsafe 2 has a weaker neodymium magnet, its designed that way.
formerly too many people in coffee shops etc etc were getting their macbooks yanked to the floor on accident.
Its new design is weaker for good reason.
if it keeps coming loose youre using if your lap or in bed,...sitting on a flat surface that woudlnt happen.

  • Is there anyway to either trade in your old Macbook Pro for a new version, or get a new power cord when the old one has been damaged?

Well i was just wondering.. since i do have a older version of the Macbook Pro.. and the fact that the power cord has been damaged

You can always get a price on what an Apple affiliate would give you for your old MacBook Pro by going to http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/faq.html and reading the instruction for the reuse program. Or you can sell your old one on eBay (that's what I did - you'll get more for it). Apple doesn't do a simple trade-in.
Your cheapest route is just to buy a new adapter. If you don't know which adapter to get, call Apple and they can tell you, or visit your local Apple Store. They're about $80.
    Good luck,

Working battery needs to be in for the computer to function.

  • Will AIR ac power cord work for Mac Book Pro?

will AIR ac power cord work for Mac Book Pro? I've lost my MBP cord.

No. It does not provide sufficient power for a MBP unless you have a 13" model that uses a 60 watt adaptor.

  • Partial power cord for MacBook Pro?

I have a broken power cord on a MacBook Pro 13-inch early 2011 model. Is there a way to buy the part of the cord that attaches to the computer without shelling out $79 for the whole thing with the power block?

They are for sale on eBay.
But how do you propose to connect it? The connections are inside the power block, which is glued shut. There is no simple plug, these cords require soldering.
Is the cord at the computer-end frayed? it might be replaced as a safety issue if frayed.
