Macboo Pro 13 inch

My macbook pro 13 inch screen suddenly goes black and comes right back on. I think this is due to the sleep function that is enabled when you close the mac, magnets tell the computer to go to sleep. The thing is when it goes black it comes right back on after 3-4 seconds. This happens at least 2-4 times a day. I was wondering if there was a way to fix it or could someone explain why this is happening. Thanks!

No 3rd party software, this started happening about 2 months after I bought which is now maybe 8 months ago and I never figured out how to fix it. The machine is about a year old and I keep it updated usually maybe delay a day or two for the updates.
Screen saver is enabled and it usually happens when the power cable is connected but can happen when it isnt. I dont run any many other applications, most of the time its mozilla, itunes, and finder of course.
This happens while I am just on the computer it randomly just turns black and comes right back on. If I was watching a video and it turned black, when it came back on the video will start running again from the point where it stopped. Music is the same. I hope this helps.

Apparantly there were some compatibility issues with the Sims3 and Lion. I believe there is a Sims3 update available if I'm not mistaken.

How do I transfer files from a LaCIe backup drive onto new MacBoo Pro?

I have an iMac and use a LaCie backup to, um, backup my files. I am confused over how to transfer my iTunes library from my backup into my MacBook Pro's iTunes library. Thanks.

Ya, when I try to do that I get "error-10657" and the files aren't transferred. I wonder if I even backed up my iMac correctly? When I do backups, I plug in my firewire, go to time machine and hit "back up now" so I don't know why the files won't transfer.
Does it have to do with the new firewire 800 on MacBook Pro as opposed to the firewire 400 on iMac? I bought the converter cable so I could do this transfer but for some reason it is not.
Is there a step I am missing? Thanks again.

Resetting a firmware password when never put a firmware password on Macboo Pro OSX Lion

I have never put a firmware password on my Macbook Pro OSX Lion (2012). But now when I am trying to reset it, its asking for a password how can I reset this or remove it.

Hi macbookprowilliam, I have the SAME problem, that grey lock just appeared trolling me. I dunno the password and I wan't to sell this macbook! I need the password. Maybe it's a new malware! I have an BacBookPro using OSX 10.9.1, an iPad and an iPhone. I don't know Apple very well.
When my boy download a new App one the iPad, it automatically appear on my iPone. How it's working?
Is there a way to share things between the MAc, the iPad and the Phone? Is there a way to save App on my MacBook Pro? Or save my boy iPad's musics on my Mac? I don't now how to use iCloud is it with that?

That happens because in Settings>iTunes & App Store you have Apps turned on under Automatic Downloads. If you don't want this, turn this off. This can be configured on your iPad too.

That's what iTunes is for. Download purchased apps and music to your iTunes library (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519), and import music from your CDs to your library, then sync the iPad and iPhone with iTunes to transfer what you want. You can also configure Automatic Downloads on your Mac by going to iTunes>Preferences>Store.

Paring remote with MacBoo Pro

I can't pair my MacBook Pro with apple remote. I followed everything the manual says, nothing worked.

I do not know if Mountain Lion is the same as Mavericks, but
System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy tab -> Advanced -> [_] Disable remove control infrared receiver (must be UNCHECKED), and then there should be a "Pair..." button.

Slow painting with CS3 + Leopard + brandnew Macboo pro 2.4

I just bought a brand new Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz 2GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, Leopard, and WACOM 3, i'm having serious lag in brush strokes in Photoshop CS3(Trial version downloaded at Adobe's site) AND ALSO with Painter X! Everything looks perfect in all other software features and in OS ...except this brushstroke issue...i'm so frustrated because i bought the macbook pro specially for digital painting!!! But I can't work! The problem seems to increase when i plug a secondary monitor.
Problem still exists if i use a mouse and even without it (with the trackpad is still there!)
I've tryed to re-intall all software but nothing changes... please , there's someone with the same problem than meI? It could be something wrong with my brand new hardware or this is a software issue?

thanks, but weird thing, a friend of mine has a macbook pro 2.3 (1 model before mine) also with 2GB RAM and it seem to run just fine with WACOM Intuos 3 (same as mine) and Leopard. I'm suspecting is some settings i must correct.. i searched for all kind of perfomance settings both in photoshop and OS X, nothing seems to change this issue tho.. ...
it could be something worng with the Leopard + PSCS3 + WACOM "communication" ? Im using the latest drivers, latest updates and versions...

I've a late 2011 15" and am running 16GB of RAM. I like Crucial RAM but OWC is good as well. Go to the Crucial website and click on the System Scanner tab. Download and unzip and run a small app that will report your model back to Crucial and you'll be presented with upgrade options.
You don't have to go all the way to 16GB, of course. 8GB is the 'sweet spot' to me for RAM.

As with most NLEs, there are several programs running at the same time to give you the NLE experience. CS4 now allows each process to take up to 4Gb of RAM. If you have 16GB of RAM, then 4 processes can take up to 4GB each. This is a HUGE advantage over CS3. What are some examples of processes? DynamicLink, AfterServer, Photoshop Server, Adobe Media Encoder, Titler, Playback, Capture, Importer, and many more. I tell most people to count on buying 8GB minium.
So maybe I have to add more ram, in order CS4 to run properly...

I am having problems syncing my BB Curve with my iCal on my Macbook Pro. All of my appointments from iCal get moved ahead an hour on my blackberry. How do I fix this?

i would check the time zone on your mac, in ical if it has the option, and your BB

X86_64 kernel hangs on macboo pro

I have a mac book pro and whenever I try to boot the x86_64 kernel from the install cd it hangs at "Booting the kernel." Has anyone gotten past this point? I understand the install cd is running kernel version 3.0.3
Any tips would be appreciated.

BTW, the i686 kernel boots fine and I'm able to install, but I needed to use a 64 bit kernel.

How to restore Macboo pro (Lion) defautl keyboard command settings?

Hi there,
I am not sure what happend, but all of the sudden my default keyboard commands are not following the "defaut settings" already in place on my mac...
Example, when I use the screen capture, (commnad+4) it kick me back to the previous page, and when i use the command+3, it kicks me forward.(to the page I was in the first palce.
I did check the settings such as untick the F1 thing, and I did select the options "restore default".. Could anyone help me please?

Just do as sig says - hold down the Command and R keys while booting. This will take you to the Lion recovery disk (a small partition on your hard drive). You can erase your disk from here using Disk Utlity and restore Lion by using Internet recovery. Make sure that you have a good Internet connection because Internet recovery can take quite awhile.

New MacBoo Pro User

I just got my first MacBook. I need help with downloading all the music off my iPod. I think because I moved from a Dell running Window's Vista some of my music is coded in a way that the Mac doesn't understand...like a .CDA file. Can anyone assist me? I'd hate to loose any music. So far this is frustrating and I'm not liking my new Macbook.

If the music is on your iOS device, you can connect that device to your new MBP and when it shows up in iTunes, right click on it and choose the option to "import purchases"
Before you do this however, make sure you open iTunes and setup your account information in it for the iTunes store. It will then transfer your licenses from the iTunes store to the iTunes app on your MBP and ask you to authorize that new computer.
I have had to transfer mu music a few times between machines.
Also, before you attempt to import anything to the new system, make sure you go through all of your settings in iTunes first. When you choose to import media from other sources, it may attempt to transcode it. Depending on your settings in iTunes, this may not be a desirable thing.
Lastly, if you copied all your media files to an external hard disk or a DVD / CD or a usb flash drive, you can tell iTunes to import the media from those sources. Doing this will force iTunes to copy the media from the source where you importing it from to wherever iTunes has been configured to store your media library on your new MBP.
To manually import from another source, open iTunes, from the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on the File option. From the menu that is now displayed, choose "Add to Library" (HINT: You can also use the Command key + O to do the same thing.) Now select the current location of your media files. iTunes should do the rest for you. If it can import the media file type it will either directly import it or attempt to transcode it into a format that iTunes can use.

ok so i know nothing about mac and only a little about windows PCs so i have no idea how to fix this. my mac runs very slow and every couple of seconds it freezes for 5-7 seconds. i want to use this mac for games so i need it to run fast. it was working fine until a few days ago when i turned it on one morning an it was like this. is it possible its a virus? is there some sort of free virus scan or speed up program i should get? HELP!
