Macbook 10.10.4 Update Killed Outlook Profile & disappeared documents

We have a user that installed the 10.10.4 update on his macbook and it seemed to go okay until he restarted and his outlook profile and some documents are missing.  Outlook started up with the wizard and he says there was an important document he just finished using that is gone.  He is an Active Directory user with a mobile account that had been working without issue until the update.
I'm not a Mac expert but I checked the user folder on the hd and it appears he is logged into the correct profile and user folder.  Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
J

  • Outlook Profile Not Updated to New CAS Array After Mailbox Move Between Sites

I am working on a large mailbox migration from one AD site to another.
    Exchange version at both sites:Exchange 2010 SP2
    Two Mailbox Servers: MBX01 in site A / MBX02 in site B
(There is a DAG but keeping this simple)
    Two CAS Arrays: CASA.domain.com / CASB.domain.com
The RPCClientAccessServer property is set accordingly.  Where MBX01 is set to CASA.domain.com and MBX02 is set to CASB.domain.com
    Clients:Outlook 2010 SP1
Scenario: I successfully move a mailbox from Site A to Site B.  The Outlook client does not automatically update its server settings to point to the new cas array (CASB.domain.com) and continues to connect to the old CAS server (CASA.domain.com).
I have seen a few articles regarding this pointing to workarounds such as:
    - repairing the outlook profile on the client
    - delete the existing outlook profile
    - run a script to update the prf file (re-cache's email at the client)
I am interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this, what their solution was for a large migration and if any roll-ups or service packs have possibly fixed this problem.
I would also like to know if you have seen this affect ActiveSync devices.  I am getting mixed results in my tests and thought it may be contributed toward different device types, mobile os versions, etc...
I have posted this to the Outlook forum as well, just wasn't sure where to start.
    Thanks.
    Mike

    Hi,
Firstly, I’d like to say, in Exchange 2010 and prior to SP2 CU3 version,
when we move mailboxes between AD sites, users will not receive any notice about restarting Outlook and their RPC endpoint won’t update to reflect the RPC Client Access Server array associated with the mailbox database in the AD site where the mailbox now resides.
Depending on repairing or recreating profile, we can force Outlook to use the new RPC endpoint.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Calendar not updating in Outlook 2010 but updating on OWA (Ex 2010 with Outlook 2010)

    Hi,
A few users are having this problem including me. There is a room Calendar which was working fine but not anymore. Here what is happening:
User A cannot see the updates in Calendar, if someone has meeting user A cannot see it. User A can only see by visiting OWA
User A create meeting in Room A via OUtlook. User A can see this but not other users. When visit OWA, User A cannot see that meeting.
User A creates meeting in Room A via owa. Everyone can see it.
User A sets outlook in ONLINE mode and now he can see all the updates
So something is going wrong with outlook cache mode that it is not updating calendar or not connecting with calendar. Tried different fixes from internet but not working. Tried to rebuild outlook profile but that works once, but if there is update the same
    problem happens again.
    Hasan

    Hi Hasan,
Since the issue only happens in Outlook cached mode, please check whether “Download Shared folders” is checked in Outlook settings:
    1. Click Account Settings on the File tab.
    2. In the Account Settings dialog box, click the
Email tab, click to select the Exchange account, and then click
    Change.
    3. Click More Settings. On the Advanced tab, check the
Use Cached Exchange Mode and Download Shared Folders check box to have a try, and then click
    OK.
    4. Finish it and restart Outlook.
Then check whether the calendar can be updated in Outlook.

  • Issue in creating my outlook profile

    Hi
i  installed office 2013 std, and tried to create my outlook profile, but it says microsoft exchange cantg be connected at the moment.

    Hello,
Any update on this issue? If you need further assistance on this issue, please come back and provide more information so that we can understand it more clearly.
If it's an Exchange account, this issue may be caused by several reasons. We may first check if you can login to OWA successfully. You may also contact your Exchange admin to make sure you have correctly configured your Exchange account in Outlook.

  • MacOS X 10.4.9 Update Killed My Mac!

Today I tried to install the 10.4.9 update.
Something went wrong when installing the update and I got an error message saying that the installation was unsuccessful.
After restart my mac got stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo and a wheel spinning forever.
Fortunately I fixed the issue: http://net3x.blogspot.com/2007/03/macos-x-1049-update-killed-my-mac.html

Most likely, you could have avoided this problem if
you had followed Apple’s instructions for properly
    installing software updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software
    updates
Note that Apple doesn’t mention anywhere the need to
repair permissions either before or after installing
a system update, not even for troubleshooting system
update issues. It’s the disk itself (i.e. the
    filesystem) that should be verified/repaired
before installing anything. Note also that no
applications should be running while installing the
update and that you may experience unexpected results
if you have third-party system software modifications
    (not normal applications) installed.
I have to call complete and utter BS on this. I have been a mac user for more than 3 years. I have updated the day of almost every major update since 10.3.1 and 10.4.9 is by far the most problem prone thing I have ever seen apple put out. I have never once had a single issue where my mac would not boot after the install of an update. Now I have updated both my MacBook and Intel Mac Mini and both were dead in the water after the install. A different software suite is on both systems, and there is no "intrusive" 3rd party software that should cause any trouble. Thanks to the instructions above I was able to get back on-line and running 10.4.9, but something really needs to be done about these issues.

  • Server name in outlook profile stay the same after SSL changed from local to public fqdn

    Hi,
I switched our UCC certificate for exchange 2010 so that it is no longer include .local in it. I used different FQDN url for external and internal (i.e externaURL is ExSrv.abc.com and internalURL is InSrv.abc.com). After I changed all settings, I found that
the outlook profiles are still using the internal server name (i.e. myexchangesrv.abc.local). Is this normal? Should I expect the server name to be the new internalURL? The following are the commands I used and I also used EMC to change the OWA and ECP's internal
URL to "InSrv.abc.com" as well. Did I missing anything?
    Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity MyExchangSrv -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://InSrv.abc.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://InSrv.abc.com/ews/exchange.asmx
Set-OABVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\OAB (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://InSrv.abc.com/oab
set-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl "https://InSrv.abc.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
    Thank you,

    Hi,
When an Outlook client goes to connect to an Exchange 2010 database, it looks at an attribute associated with the mailbox database called RPCClientAccess to determine which client access server/client access server array to use for connectivity.
Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 clients do not pickup this change automatically when you change the value of RPCClientAccess server, you need to repair Outlook Profile to update new RPC endpoint.
However, be careful to Change this property, because this can broke Outlook Clients to Exchange:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/05/30/rpc-client-access-cross-site-connectivity-changes.aspx
Meanwhile, this attribute must be point to client access server or client access server array. You must have an CAS array named “InSrv.abc.com” as your expected.
Also I find an similar thread about your concern, please refer to below link as “Brian Day” mentioned:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/2d0c0f5f-e4ec-4f33-a37d-b94fd7a2319f/cas-array-and-autodiscover-for-internal-and-external-access?forum=exchange2010
“The only place the clients will ever use the CAS Array name is when the value of RPCClientAccessServer on their database is looked up and returned to them so they can then resolve the name via DNS and connect through MAPI. This is why the CAS Array
name is not required to be on a SSL cert unless an admin chose to use the same FQDN for OWA/EAS/EWS/etc...., which would not be recommened for the reason Mitch points out above.”
    Thanks

  • New Outlook profile causes iPod contacts to disappear during first sync

I'm hoping someone can help me here please? I have approx 150 contacts missing from my iPod.
The problems began with a corrupt windows profile in Windows Vista. Got the system back up and running with a new profile and copied the iTunes data directory to the same location on the new profile.
I also had to create a new Microsoft Outlook profile, of course there are no contacts in the new Outlook profile but at least they still exist on my iPod.
After some consultation with the local Apple store they said that the contacts should syncronise back to Outlook.
    Wrong ... the opposite happened.
After plugging the iPod into the PC, iTunes started and the iPod started to backup and then sync. It uploaded a movie that was downloaded directly to the iPod and all seemed fine. Checked Contacts on my iPod and all have deleted. It appears the Ipod saw no entries in Outlook and it decided it had to appear the same ... I had no warning of deletion or changes before hand!!!!
Right, I have the backup before the problem sync. Now, posts about backups seem to say that it restores to as before the problem. When I run the restore utility it wants to wipe my iPod, download the latest OS and then I can pick the retore ...... I am now very wary as I've already had one screw up and really need to know if it will work as expected before continuing. Can anyone advise please?
Also, if the restore works and I have my contacts on the iPod how do I get them to Outlook rather than they delete.
    Sorry for the long post.
    Cheers

I maintain two Outlook Profiles; one for my personal email and the other for my business.  I keep all Calendar items in the business profile.  I recently had to wipe my BBY and did a selective restore. Hi Epsi,
According to your description, the issue seems that your shared mailbox can’t be updated automatically. If your shared mailbox is added as an additional mailbox via
the Exchange email account’s Advanced tab (using the
Open these additional mailboxes option) or via Auto-Mapping,
please check the following settings in Outlook:
    1. Open Outlook, click File > Account Settings
    > Account Settings.
    2. Click Change and make sure Use Cached Exchange Mode is checked.
    3. Click More Settings > Advanced tab. Make sure use Cached Exchange Mode is checked and uncheck Download shared folders to use shared folder in Online mode.
    4. Click Apply > OK > Next > Finish.
Then restart Outlook to check whether the issue persists.

  • Create fully automated Outlook profile at user first time logon to the windows

Hi experts, I do have one scenario and its quite urgent...
I have one email address, that to be act as a notification email from Outlook.
The thing is we need to have Outlook fully setup with profile and password when an user log in.
I have done the prf and plan to have it fired with VB script when user logon(using windows logon startup script function).
The prf can be successfully fired and its created profile in outlook, however the user credentials logon will be prompted everytime the user log on, and the user will not know the password, except us, email administrator.
This is carried out in :
    - Azure Windows server 2012
    - Outlook 2013
    - And the user will not access remotely to the server, they will only access to RDP, which we hosted our application.
(And the mentioned application will need to send some notification email to the users.
I hope i have not missed out anything. Anyone please shed some light for this.
    Your help is appreciated !

    Hi Melon,
    Thanks for quick reply !
Yes. I have setup prf file and not able to store any password in it. Our user will have to type in the password in the prompted windows. The thing is we are not exposing the password to the user. In fact, they are not able to view the windows screen as they
are only connect to RDP application.
Now we are using Exchange account and soon we will migrate our email server to Office 365.
